ALHM Chapter 17

Wen Jue Li asked, “What would you like to eat tonight?” He took a moment to compose himself, realizing that the camera for the live broadcast was focused on both of them. He added, “Your favorites.”

Yan Qing’s stomach happened to be growling too. He stood in the backlight, his peach blossom eyes deep and dark, resembling some kind of inorganic gemstone. Over these past few days, he had become accustomed to being around Wen JueLi, and his demeanor naturally relaxed. He lazily inquired, “How about having barbecue for dinner? What do you think?”

Half of the viewers in the live chat didn’t believe that Wen JueLi would agree. Over the years, he had always appeared in public as someone disciplined and strict. Even in various behind-the-scenes clips of his films, he was never seen eating things like fried chicken or drinking bubble tea. Wen JueLi was famously self-disciplined, avoiding high-fat, high-salt, and high-sugar foods, a fact known even to his fans. How could Yan Qing, who had been married to him for a year, not know this?

Amid this atmosphere of skepticism, Yan Qing placed an order for delivery while they were still in the nanny car. Because they were currently in a live broadcast and Wen JueLi’s upscale apartment was quite far from the street food district, they had no choice but to order takeout.

By the time they arrived home, the delivery had just arrived.

[Look, did you see that? Did Mr. Wen just furrowed his brow?]

[I saw it too! Everyone knows Wen Jue Li doesn’t like these kinds of foods. Does Yan Qing really not know, or does he think he’s special to him? Isn’t he just asking for trouble?]

[Hahaha, does Yan Qing think that eating at a street stall will make him seem down-to-earth?]

Yan Qing had a well-stocked wallet and felt guilty about having the crew shoot for several days without actually eating anything. So, he ordered some extra food for them.

After unpacking the takeout, Yan Qing carried the boxes to the spacious terrace that was about several dozen square meters in size. He took out all the barbecue dishes and arranged them on the table, filling the air with their savory aroma.

The weather tonight was exceptionally pleasant, even more so than usual. The moon shone brightly, stars twinkled in the sky, and one could even see a splendid cityscape from the chairs on the terrace. The occasional gentle breeze brushed past, cooling the atmosphere and refreshing the senses.

Yan Qing had changed into lightweight home clothes, consisting of an oversized short-sleeved shirt and knee-length shorts. This outfit revealed his slender and long limbs, and his snow-white skin glistened with a radiant glow under the soft lighting.

Wen JueLi had declined eating earlier when they ordered takeout. Yan Qing had guessed it was due to the barbecue, but looking at the perfectly cooked skewers on the table, he walked over to the floor-to-ceiling windows and asked, “Are you really not going to eat?”

As expected, Wen JueLi shook his head politely. At first, when he asked Yan Qing what he liked, Wen JueLi thought he might choose something like mashed potatoes or salad. He didn’t expect it would be a barbecue. However, if Yan Qing enjoyed it, he wouldn’t stop him, but he himself wouldn’t partake in it.

A tinge of disappointment filled Yan Qing’s eyes, but he quickly suggested, “Then, how about you come out and keep me company while I eat?”

Wen JueLi took a moment to contemplate and then nodded in agreement.

Yan Qing continued, “I’m not used to eating alone, and it just feels strange to me when I see you not eating.”

Leading the way, he walked ahead, and when the wind brushed past, the faint curves of his slender figure could be seen.

Wen JueLi held a bottle of mineral water and shifted his gaze. “No need to feel strange. This is your home, and you can do whatever you like.”

Yes, he had already built a life together with Yan Qing. However, Yan Qing still felt a bit dreamy and unreal. He sat down across from Wen JueLi and looked at the sizzling sausages on the plate. This was Yan Qing’s favorite dish from this particular restaurant, the Baodao grilled sausage. The skin was firm, the filling was flavorful, and even the juices oozed out – it was delicious. It brought back memories of its taste.

Yan Qing watched as Wen JueLi took a sip of water. He pushed the plate toward him, but Wen JueLi said, “I’ll just have some bread later.”

Yan Qing responded, “Alright…”

He didn’t press the matter further. Instead, Yan Qing thought of something and turned to look at the production staff behind him. Then, he lowered his voice and quietly asked Wen JueLi, “By the way, do you still remember our third meeting?”

Of course, Wen Jue Li remembered.
