This is the third year that Wen Yuan and Qi Jinran have been together.
Wen Yuan came out of the dessert shop, greeted the staff, and went to the underground parking lot to pick up the car and prepare to go home. He had just buckled his seat belt when suddenly he heard a faint meow of a kitten somewhere.
The cry was heart-wrenching, and he couldn’t bear listening, so he unbuckled his seat belt, got out of the car, and followed the source of the sound to find the kitten. After looking around the car next to him and not seeing anything, a cat’s meow came again, and he seemed to feel it. He lay on the ground in the parking lot, and finally saw the orange kitten stuck in the seam under his BMW’s tire.
Wen Yuan rescued the kitten, which seemed to be less than two months old, from the bottom of the car. The kitten was seriously dehydrated, and didn’t care to paw him. It just lay sickly on his palm. Wen Yuan brought it to the nearest pet store. The vet checked the kitten, finding no big problem, apart from extreme malnutrition and lack of water, and gave it an infusion and some goat milk powder.
“Handsome guy, why don’t you take this kitten back to raise it.” The vet said eagerly after examining the kitten. He already adopted a lot of stray animals, and can’t bring any more. Wen Yuan was clearly enthusiastic about the cat, and it would be great if he could bring this poor little milk cat back and give him a home.
Wen Yuan’s eyes lit up, but a slight look of embarrassment crossed his face. “My house is quite big, but the person in my family may not agree to a cat.”
Qi Jinran has a moderate habit of cleanliness. Although it improved a lot after being together, when it comes to pets, Qi Jinran is still very cautious. He won’t take a second glance even when passing by a pet store. Wen Yuan was afraid that bringing the kitten back would make the man unhappy.
“Well, please help the kitten find a kind owner. In the meantime, I can afford the expenses for his stay here, okay?”
Wen Yuan touched the kitten’s thin body, unable to can’t bear it in his heart. In fact, he always wanted to keep a pet. When he saw stray cats and dogs on the road at school, he would feed them. The stray cats in the school also like him very much, but he doesn’t live alone and can’t decide alone; he still has to consider Jinran’s feelings.
“That’s do-able, we will help him find a kind owner.”
The veterinarian nodded with a smile, and was about to carry the kitten into the pet cabinet inside, when suddenly, the little orange cat struggled violently, and jumped from his palm into Wen Yuan’s arms. It’s little paws clutching onto Wen Yuan’s shirt, and a loud cry of reluctance came out of his throat.
Seeing the small fluffy orange on his chest, Wen Yuan’s heart was about to melt. He quickly supported the little orange cat’s butt with his palm and patted its head.
He lowered his head to meet the slightly hazy eyes of the kitten.
“Little guy, you can’t bear me? Do you want to go home with me?”
The little milk cat rubbed against his palm, let out a low cry, and turned over to reveal its belly.
Wen Yuan’s heart melted, and he put the kitten in his shirt pocket and smiled at the doctor.
“Forget it, I won’t find an owner. I’ll take it home. You can make a list for me and I’ll buy everything.”
Half an hour later, Wen Yuan brought a litter box, food, and a pile of kitten toys. He carried the skinny little orange cat in his pocket, and drove back to the villa.
He made the decision on impulse, and when he got to the door, he hesitated. After all, he didn’t ask Jinran’s opinion and brought the kitten back. He didn’t know if it would make Jinran unhappy.
Forget it, if Jinran is unhappy, he can just coax him a little bit more. Anyway, a man is an outwardly cold, inwardly warm man, so if he coaxes a little bit more in bed at night, Jinran will definitely agree.
Thinking of this, Wen Yuan calmed down, and parked the car in the basement. When he entered the villa with the things in his arms, he found Jinran sitting in the living room watching the evening news.
“Why did you come back so late today?” The man sitting on the sofa was mature and handsome, and the anti-blue light glasses on the bridge of his nose made him appear more elegant. Wen Yuan put his things down, and as soon as he walked over, Qi Jinran hugged his waist and pressed him on his lap.
“Why did you come back with a bunch of things?” Qi Jinran saw the cat litter box on the ground from the corner of his eye, and didn’t recognize what it was until he caught a glimpse of the cat food next to the litter box.
He narrowed his eyes slightly, and was about to speak when he found something bulging in Wen Yuan’s chest pocket. He scrutinized Wen Yuan’s face, and just as he was about to speak, the boy kissed the corner of his mouth with great enthusiasm.
“Jinran, shall we go to see the sea together this weekend? There is a very beautiful seaside plank road over there. We were both busy and couldn’t find time before. When the business of this dessert shop stabilizes, let’s go on vacation again.”
Wen Yuan devoted himself to the baking industry after graduating from university. He participated in baking competitions big and small, domestic and international, and won many awards. Now he is a rising star in the dessert industry. The business of the dessert shop is also booming. Aside from the one opened with Zhang Huaite, he has now opened three more branches in Wancheng. The business of each shop is very good, and there is an endless stream of customers. Of course, every time a new store is opened, Wen Yuan has to spend a lot of time doing market research, and after opening, he has to coordinate quality control and train more staff.
So since graduation, he didn’t have so much time to be with Qi Jinran, but the relationship between the two was still the same as before. Whenever he was free, the first thing he did was to call Qi Jinran and tell him what happened to him that day.
“Wasn’t your dessert shop working on a new menu? Why are you so free all of a sudden?”
Qi Jinran always felt that his words were deceitful.
“Also, what’s that in your chest?”
Wen Yuan smiled, took out the sleeping cat in his pocket, and held it in front of Qi Jinran.
“This… I just picked it up in the parking lot. I thought it was too pitiful. The pet store refused to adopt it, and I couldn’t find a suitable owner, so I brought it back.”
“Jinran, I didn’t tell you in advance, I’m sorry, please don’t be angry with me, okay?”
Qi Jinran’s mouth twitched, looking at the sleeping little guy with Wen Yuan’s palms curled up in a ball, the veins on his forehead throbbing.
“The stray cat has a lot of bacteria. What if you get infected and get sick?”
“No, I just took him to the veterinary hospital for a check-up. The doctor said that it is healthy, but it is a little thin and malnourished. It’s too small to take a bath now; I’ll wipe him with a wet towel.”
Seeing Wen Yuan’s eager eyes, for fear of being rejected, Qi Jinran’s heart softened. He really didn’t like pets, but he didn’t like to see Wen Yuan worried.
He pressed his forehead and sighed softly.
“Forget it, you can keep it if you want. But this cat can’t enter our bedroom, kitchen, or my study. Let the housekeeper arrange a special room for it to live in.”
“Jinran, you are so kind.” With his permission, Wen Yuan was so happy that he hugged him, even forgetting that he was holding the kitten in his palm, so Qi Jinran’s chest inevitably touched the fluffy back of the kitten, and his whole body stiffened, he pushed Wen Yuan away.
“Hurry up and take a bath and change your clothes.”
“Okay, I’ll go right away.”
Wen Yuan first arranged an empty room for the kitten with the housekeeper, put away the kitten’s things, and fed the little orange cat some goat milk. Afterwards, he went to the bathroom to take a shower.
His wish to keep a pet finally came true. Wen Yuan was so happy in the bathroom that he couldn’t help humming a song. He changed into his pajamas, and as soon as he left the bathroom, he went straight to the kitten’s room next door. The room was originally a guest bedroom, but now a wooden box was placed on the bed, and it was changed by the housekeeper to be exclusively for the kitten.
“Xiaoju1little orange, you have a home now, aren’t you happy?”
Qi Jinran was wiping his hair, and saw Wen Yuan lying on the bed in the guest bedroom, teasing the kitten in the cardboard box as he passed by. The boy’s eyes were full of joy, and his expression was extremely gentle, which made Qi Jinran a little sour.
Wen Yuan hadn’t teased the kitten twice, when suddenly there was heat from behind. When he turned his head and looked, it was Qi Jinran who hugged and pulled him up.
“Jinran, what are you doing?” He thought that Qi Jinran drove him to the bathroom to take a shower, and probably didn’t want to touch him today. He didn’t expect that the man’s interest would be so good.
Qi Jinran was too lazy to speak, and carried him directly to the master bedroom and threw him on the bed.
Wen Yuan bounced on the mattress, inexplicably excited. He blinked and looked at the man who was pressing down.
“Jinran, you’re not jealous of a kitten, are you?”
“It’s just a kitten, it hasn’t been weaned yet. Are you still eating the vinegar of a kitten?”
Clenching his jaws, Qi Jinran pinched Wen Yuan’s chin, and kissed him viciously on the lips.
He hoped that Wen Yuan would only look at him tenderly, and the smiles in his eyes were all because of him. But Wen Yuan’s life could not only revolve around him, and he could not imprison him, which is why he agreed to let that kitten stay.
“Tomorrow, don’t go to the dessert shop.” He whispered in his ear in a hoarse voice.
Wen Yuan’s entire body melted into the quilt, as if it had turned into a pool of water. He put his arms around Qi Jinran’s neck with a smile, and gave him a heavy kiss on the face.
“Jinran, thank you for being so tolerant of me.”
“Next time, I won’t let you go so easily.” Qi Jinran kissed him deeply.
A month later, the little orange cat had grown a lot, and didn’t look as thin as it did when it first arrived. Sometimes it slips out of the room and makes trouble in the living room. Wen Yuan finds it cute, even if it occasionally scratches the sofa or bites wire, and couldn’t bear to scold him. Yesterday, the little thing slipped out of its room again and followed him to the sofa, but just as his paws touched the fabric of the knitted sofa, a large hand lifted the back of his neck.
“Jinran, why did you come back so early today?”
Qi Jinran didn’t speak. He carried the kitten by the back of the neck and placed it on the coffee table, pressing the back of his neck to prevent the kitten from breaking free. The person the little cat is most afraid of in this house is him. The two pointed ears turned into airplane ears from being held down, and its expression was a little cowardly.
“If you dare to grab the sofa or bite the charging cable, I will put you in a cage and send you back to the pet store.” Qi Jinran’s old father sternness, coupled with his low voice, scared the kitten to the point of shrinking its entire body.
Although it didn’t understand human’s words, it could sense the threat in those words.
“Jinran, it’s just a kitten. There’s nothing malicious about it. It’s biting because it wants to grind its teeth. It’ll be fine when the teether I bought arrives in two days.”
Qi Jinran snorted coldly, “If you keep spoiling it, it will become more and more lawless.”
“Aren’t you like this to me too? Do you think I am lawless now?”
Wen Yuan smiled at him, and Qi Jinran’s temper faded. He sighed and put the kitten down. The kitten quickly retracted to Wen Yuan’s side, and the little head was tightly pressed against his trouser legs.
Two months later, the little orange cat really stopped scratching the sofa or biting the wires, but became more clingy than ever. It followed Wen Yuan wherever he went. It couldn’t stay in its own room for a long time, so Wen Yuan would let it come, as long as it didn’t make trouble.
That night, Qi Jinran rubbed Wen Yuan and kissed him. As soon as his hand reached the hem of Wen Yuan’s clothes, he felt a heavy load on his back, as if something was pressing on his back. He turned his head to look, and sure enough he saw Xiaoju. The cat was stepping on his back with a puzzled expression.
Since Wen Yuan rescued it in the parking lot, in the kitten’s cognition, Wen Yuan has become like its mother, and it really doesn’t understand what this human is trying to do when pressing its mother.
“Xiaoju, why are you here? Hurry down!”
Wen Yuan’s expression at this moment was a bit like a high school student who was caught by his parents while making out with his boyfriend.
Xiaoju tilted its head, as if it didn’t understand what Wen Yuan said. Instead, he got off Qi Jinran’s back and stepped on the bed sheet next to him. Qi Jinran was too lazy to care about this obstructive cat, pressed Wen Yuan’s back neck, pressed his lips up again, and attacked the boy’s mouth. The suffocating deep kiss ended, and Qi Jinran was about to take the next step when a furry head suddenly popped up between the two.
Xiaoju imitated what he had just done, and licked Wen Yuan’s mouth a few times.
Wen Yuan laughed, while Qi Jinran was so annoyed that he grabbed Xiaoju’s by the back of its neck, strode out of bed, and threw it back to its room.
“How dare you laugh. Wait for me to clean you up!”
Qi Jinran unbuttoned his shirt, tugged off his belt, and threw it on the ground.
“Come on, come and try!” Wen Yuan responded eagerly. He retracted into the quilt, not wanting to let Qi Jinran succeed so quickly, but unexpectedly half of his foot was exposed, and the man grabbed his ankle and dragged it to the edge of the bed.
What followed was a night of indulgence.
In the morning, Wen Yuan was too tired to move. Qi Jinran woke up before him and went to the kitchen to make breakfast. He lay down for a while and after feeling that he was almost recovered, he put on his pajamas and went to the kitchen.
What surprised him was that Xiaoju was half-squatting on the cooking table, watching Qi Jinran make breakfast intently, looking very like a supervisor. And Qi Jinran also acquiesced to the existence of Xiaoju. In the kitchen, the gentle morning light spilled in, and the picture of one cat and one person was exceptionally harmonious.
Wen Yuan watched this scene, his eyes became very soft. He took out his mobile phone and took a picture of the scene.
“It smells so good. Husband, what are you doing today?”
Putting away the phone, Wen Yuan walked over with a smile.
Wen Yuan & Qi Jinran’s story is now finished. Next up, Yu Heng & Luo Haoxin’s story.
