The school doctor didn’t expect that the school heartthrob in front of him would actually be the type to take a mile when given an inch1taking excessive advantage of a small opportunity or concession. The school doctor chuckled and said seriously, “No!”
Rong Shu: “…”
You don’t have to look so pleased!
He glanced at the Alpha beside him with a look of grievance. “You can go back now; I’ll stay here alone. Don’t worry about me. I’m fine. Cough, cough!”
“Hmm, listen to the doctor. I’ll come back to see you at noon when school ends.”
Shen Huaixiu seemed not to have heard the underlying meaning in his words and nodded decisively.
Rong Shu was so taken aback by his response that he wanted to poke him in the chest and ask if he really didn’t realize that was sarcasm!
He was supposed to stay with him!
“Come over to draw blood!”
“Oh!” He responded unwillingly, then glanced at the Alpha, who was still standing in place despite saying he would leave. “You can go back. Don’t delay your classes.”
“I’ll leave after you finish drawing blood.”
Rong Shu’s cat ears drooped at these words as he dejectedly went to the school doctor to have his blood drawn.
Shen Huaixiu stood to the side, watching the youth extend his delicate, pale arm. His handsome brows were slightly furrowed, looking quite unwilling, but he still obediently let the school doctor draw his blood.
“All done. Lie down and rest. The results will take an hour,” the school doctor said, then glanced at Shen Huaixiu. “Why haven’t you left yet?”
Rong Shu tilted his head and met the Alpha’s cold black eyes. “You should go to your class. I’ve finished drawing blood.”
“Hmm, rest well.”
Shen Huaixiu nodded and turned to leave the infirmary. Once he was gone, the school doctor chuckled. “Stop staring. He’s already gone.”
Teased, Rong Shu didn’t get angry. He stood up, ready to lie down on the bed outside. “Teacher, can’t I even have him stay to accompany me if you don’t allow it?”
“You really don’t hide your feelings at all.”
“Why hide it? Nothing is embarrassing about liking someone.”
Rong Shu’s openness took the school doctor by surprise. The doctor, curious, asked, “He’s an Alpha. Doesn’t that bother you?”
“He was an Alpha when I first met him, and I’m an Alpha too!”
Rong Shu said, puffing out his chest a little. Seeing this, the school doctor couldn’t help but smile and nod. “Knowing you’re also an Alpha, go rest now.”
It was unexpected that the school heartthrob of the Federal No. 1 Middle School, for two consecutive years, had such a cute personality.
The bed in the infirmary smelled strongly of disinfectant. Rong Shu, though slightly repelled, couldn’t resist the discomfort in his body. He curled up under the blanket, leaving only his cat ears exposed.
Half asleep, half awake, Rong Shu seemed to hear Shen Huaixiu’s voice, causing his cat ears to twitch involuntarily.
“Aren’t you supposed to come back at noon? Why are you here now?” The school doctor’s voice was filled with playful teasing, but Shen Huaixiu, seemingly oblivious, responded seriously, “He didn’t have breakfast. Have the results come out yet?”
“Still waiting a bit.” The school doctor finished speaking and went back into the lab.
Rong Shu emerged from under the blanket. Although he still had a fever, his black eyes sparkled when he saw Shen Huaixiu, as if filled with stars.
Shen Huaixiu walked over and placed the breakfast he had brought on the table. “I bought porridge. Would you like some?”
Even though he had little appetite due to illness, the fact that Shen Huaixiu had specifically bought breakfast for him made it impossible to refuse. He nodded obediently. “Okay.”
“Bacterial infection. Do you want an injection or medicine?” The school doctor came out with the test results and saw that the person who had been lying in bed, unwilling to even turn over, was now sitting up and drinking porridge.
So, why give injections or medicine? Just letting this Alpha provide a bit more warmth would cure the illness!
“Injections!” Rong Shu immediately chose this option without hesitation. He was different from others; while most people preferred to take medicine rather than get an injection, he was the opposite—he’d rather have an injection and resolutely avoid taking medicine!
“Then we’ll start with three days of injections. We’ll do today’s dose and you can come back tomorrow evening after school,” the school doctor said and quickly went back to prepare the paperwork, clearly not interested in sticking around to witness any more of the sweetness.
Shen Huaixiu watched as Rong Shu drank his porridge and casually handed him a tissue to wipe his mouth. “What would you like for lunch?”
“Can I still order? I want some barbecued pork…”
“Barbecued pork rice is too oily. You should have something lighter. How about spinach soup?”
“Isn’t that too much trouble? I can go buy it myself after the injection,” Rong Shu said, though inside he was thinking desperately, ‘Please don’t agree. I’m not serious!’
“No need. Just rest. I’ll be leaving now.”
“Okay.” As he watched Shen Huaixiu leave, Rong Shu’s mood lifted, and he smiled. Perhaps having something in his stomach made him feel less pain.
When the school doctor returned with the medication, he saw Rong Shu’s face still lit up with an unguarded smile. He couldn’t help but think to himself how nice it was to be young!
“Which arm should we use?”
“This one. How long will it take?”
“We’ll need to administer two bottles—one for fever reduction and one for anti-inflammation. It should be done by noon, just in time for lunch.”
At the mention of lunch, the school doctor gave him a look. Rong Shu met his gaze, innocently blinking his eyes as if to say, ‘Look at me, I’m not going to take your hint!’
The school doctor: “…”
Once the fever-reducing medication took effect, Rong Shu fell into a deep sleep, completely unaware of when the needle was removed.
When Shen Huaixiu came back with the meal, the school doctor was tidying up to go eat. Seeing him, the doctor smiled and said, “He’s still asleep after the injection. Please remember to close the door when you leave.”
“Thanks for your hard work, teacher.”
“No need to be polite, it’s the least I could do.” The tyrant from the Lower District wasn’t as cold and unfeeling as the rumors suggested.
After the school doctor left, Shen Huaixiu closed the door and walked over to Rong Shu, who was lying on the bed.
The youth bathed in sunlight looked much better. His curled lashes cast pretty shadows on his eyelids. Someone so playful when awake looked so well-behaved while sleeping.
Shen Huaixiu carefully placed the food on the table and chose not to wake him up. He just sat quietly in a nearby chair, waiting for the sleeping person to wake up.
Rong Shu slept very soundly. When he woke up, his sore muscles had improved a lot.
“Awake?” Shen Huaixiu handed him a glass of warm water. Upon hearing his voice, Rong Shu, who had been in a daze, immediately looked over. “Drink some water.”
Rong Shu mechanically took the glass, still half-asleep. “When did you arrive? Why didn’t you wake me up?”
“Just arrived a little while ago. Let’s eat.”
Rong Shu nodded after drinking the water. “I’ll handle it myself.”
“The food is already unpacked. Are you still feeling unwell?”
“Much better.” Rong Shu said, showing him the bandage on the back of his hand. “I had the fever-reducing and anti-inflammatory injections. I just took another nap and now feel really good. Thank you so much; you’ve been a great help this morning!”
“Hmm. If you don’t want to trouble me next time, think of this experience when you’re thinking about facing the cold while trying to look good.”
Rong Shu: “…”
Was he ever going to let this go?
Was it that his legs weren’t long enough or white enough? Why did he insist on making him wear pants!
