IWHBDR Chapter 36

When Rong Shu woke up the next morning, his head hurt terribly. He groggily opened his eyes and was met with a pair of dark eyes staring back at him: “…”

His already not-fully-awake brain instantly went blank. Why was Shen Huaixiu in his bed? They went out on a date yesterday, had barbecue in the evening, and he had some drinks…

Shen Huaixiu looked at the boy, whose eyes were filled with innocence and even confusion. He couldn’t help but feel a wave of helplessness. “Do you remember what happened last night?”

Rong Shu’s heart skipped a beat. Did he take advantage of the alcohol and do something he shouldn’t have done to Shen Huaixiu? He had originally planned to test Shen Huaixiu’s feelings for him after drinking, but surely he didn’t cross any lines, right?

“Can you give me a hint? I don’t really remember too clearly.” As Rong Shu spoke, he began to get up from the bed. Seeing that he was still wearing the same clothes from yesterday, he secretly breathed a sigh of relief. Thankfully, he hadn’t been desperate enough to do anything inappropriate to Shen Huaixiu.

Shen Huaixiu’s gaze darkened slightly, causing the brief relief Rong Shu felt to vanish in an instant. Their eyes met, and for some reason, Rong Shu had the strange feeling that he was the one at fault, like a heartless cad.

Just as he was about to say something else, he suddenly realized—it wasn’t that Shen Huaixiu was in ‘his’ bed, but that he was in ‘Shen Huaixiu’s’ bed. Even though they hadn’t taken their clothes off, they had shared the same bed, under the same blanket, and because it was a single bed, they must have been very close to each other.

The clear realization that they had slept together hit him like a wave, and Rong Shu couldn’t help but curl his toes in embarrassment. This was way too intense.

Shen Huaixiu propped himself up and looked at the dazed boy, who seemed lost in thought. Suddenly, he raised his hand, hooked his finger under Rong Shu’s chin, and leaned in to kiss the corner of his lips. Then, with a smirk, he said, “Last night, you confessed that you liked me and asked if I wanted to date you. I said yes.”

He happily watched the look of shock on Rong Shu’s face as he lifted the blanket and got out of bed. Shen Huaixiu was bare-chested, revealing smooth muscle lines, and wore only a pair of black sleep pants, making his waist look slim and his legs long. After delivering those words, he casually walked into the bathroom, leaving Rong Shu sitting there, staring wide-eyed at his back, transitioning from stunned to elated.

Not only did last night’s drinking result in them sleeping in the same bed, but he also successfully confessed and even got himself an Alpha. Totally worth it!

He reached up to touch the spot where Shen Huaixiu had just kissed him. It still felt warm.

His heart thudded uncontrollably from excitement, and Rong Shu felt like he was floating as if he were walking on clouds.

Shen Huaixiu had spoken so quickly just now that Rong Shu didn’t even have time to properly process it. Barefoot, he walked to the bathroom door and knocked. “What you said just now… is it true? If it’s true, then why didn’t you help me change clothes last night and let me sleep in my clothes from yesterday? That’s so…” Before he could finish saying “inconsiderate”, Shen Huaixiu opened the door.

Rong Shu instantly fell silent. His beautiful peach blossom eyes widened in surprise and his face turned bright red in an instant.

Just thinking about the fact that Shen Huaixiu was now his Alpha made Rong Shu feel a whirlwind of emotions—excitement, embarrassment, and overwhelming happiness, all mixed together.

“Do you want to start dating and get marked all on the same day?” Shen Huaixiu asked, reaching out to openly rub Rong Shu’s cat ears. Then, he bent down to pick up the T-shirt he had worn yesterday from the floor. However, the shirt, which had been perfectly fine the previous day, now had a long tear along the collar, as if someone had ripped it apart by force.

Realizing what might have happened, Rong Shu guiltily tugged at the corners of his lips and pointed to the shirt. “Did I do that?”

Shen Huaixiu snorted. “Who else?”

Rong Shu, who hadn’t expected himself to be so “capable” when drunk, stayed silent for three seconds before accepting the reality. He then dashed over to Shen Huaixiu and wrapped his arms around his waist. He boldly leaned into his embrace, tilting his head up slightly to look at him. “So, we’re dating now, right?”

Shen Huaixiu looked down at him, a subtle smile tugging at his lips. “What do you think?”

Rong Shu couldn’t stop himself from grinning. “It feels a bit unreal. Can you tell me how I confessed to you last night?”

Shen Huaixiu had never encountered anyone as bold and direct in expressing their feelings as Rong Shu. “Last night, you said it like this…”

But before he could finish, his words were swallowed between their lips.

Both of them were novices when it came to kissing, relying only on instinct to explore each other.

When the kiss ended, Rong Shu slumped into Shen Huaixiu’s arms, his head resting on Shen Huaixiu’s shoulder. His cat ears had unconsciously flattened. He looked completely soft and ready to be conquered.

Shen Huaixiu held him without saying anything. For a moment, the only sounds in the room were their breathing and the beating of their hearts.

“Does your head still hurt?” Shen Huaixiu, always mindful of Rong Shu’s drunken state from the night before, gently lifted his head and rubbed it softly.

Rong Shu squinted comfortably. “It feels a little heavy, but not painful.”

“Don’t drink anymore—at least not when I’m not around,” Shen Huaixiu said, lowering his hand and looking at him seriously.

Rong Shu quickly grabbed his hand, his eyes shining. “Why? Afraid I’ll confess to you again if I get drunk?”

Shen Huaixiu laughed, amused by his mischief, and tapped his cat ears. “I’m more afraid my clothes will be ruined again!”

“That’s not happening. You’re mine now and so are your clothes and everything else about you.” Rong Shu bravely leaned closer after saying that. “If I get drunk again, I give you permission to take advantage of me—I won’t resist at all.”

Shen Huaixiu looked at the expectant boy in front of him and couldn’t help but chuckle. “You really are…”

“I like you!” Rong Shu declared boldly, not hiding his affection in the slightest. “I’ve been teasing and trying to seduce you but you always seemed so unaffected. Now that you’re finally mine, I can do anything I want with you.” It was as if a switch had flipped in Rong Shu and he no longer held back his admiration for Shen Huaixiu.

“S-Seduce me?” Shen Huaixiu, clearly good at picking up on keywords, tilted his head slightly and looked at Rong Shu, who had suddenly turned red at the mention of those three words. His voice was husky as he asked, “Tell me, how exactly did you seduce me?”

Rong Shu’s cat ears twitched and he shyly turned his head away, avoiding eye contact with Shen Huaixiu. In truth, his peripheral vision was still glued to Shen Huaixiu’s face. “I wore your clothes, didn’t I? But you always made me wear pants. I’d put on a bathrobe and you’d make me tie it up. Is it because my legs aren’t long enough? Or not pale enough? Or am I just not attractive enough to catch your eye, hmm?”

By the end of his words, a hint of grievance seeped into his voice. He turned back and poked Shen Huaixiu’s chest with a finger as if accusing him of having no conscience.

Shen Huaixiu grabbed the hand causing trouble on his chest. “So, ever since I moved in, you’ve been at it, haven’t you?”

“You’re just now realizing I fell for you at first sight?” Rong Shu lifted his chin slightly, his expression full of pride. He looked so adorable that it made Shen Huaixiu want to pull him into his arms and cuddle him tightly.

“You still haven’t answered me. Are my legs attractive or not? Are they pale? Long? Am I good-looking? Will you keep making me wear pants in the future?”

“They’re pale, long, and very attractive. But yes, you’ll still need to wear pants. I don’t want you getting sick.”

Shen Huaixiu’s serious tone made Rong Shu’s heart soften instantly. He had originally wanted to tease Shen Huaixiu, but now he felt utterly helpless under this Alpha’s charm. “Fine, fine. From now on, even if you ask me to take them off, I won’t!”

“Good boy. Let’s go eat.”

“I want beef noodles.”

“Okay.”

Hearing that, Rong Shu let out a mischievous chuckle and ran toward the bathroom. “Wait for me, I’ll take a quick shower.”

He reeked of alcohol and it was unbearable. He didn’t even know how Shen Huaixiu managed to kiss him earlier—must be his overwhelming charm!

He decided to apply body lotion twice after the shower to make sure he smelled nice.

When they left the dormitory building, Shen Huaixiu naturally took Rong Shu’s hand and slipped it into his jacket pocket. Rong Shu was very pleased with his initiative.

While they were waiting for their meal, Rong Shu’s Dad called. He gave Shen Huaixiu a quick signal and stepped outside to take the call. “Dad.”

“Xiao Shu, I had your younger brother bring over some suppressants for your heat. He should be arriving at your place tonight. How have things been lately? I heard a lot of people have transferred to your school. Found anyone you’re interested in?”

“Yes.” Without any hesitation, Rong Shu replied, “I’ve found an Alpha. I’ll bring him home during the break!”

“You found one? That’s wonderful! If I had known, I wouldn’t have sent your brother on this trip. Do you have a picture? Send one over so we can see!”

“No way. If you want to see him, you’ll have to wait until I bring him home.”

“Alright, alright. So you’re just going to leave me curious without any details, huh? Fine, as long as you’re happy. Just remember to stay in touch with your brother,” his Dad said with a chuckle.

“Got it.”

After ending the call, Rong Shu walked over to a nearby milk tea shop.

He pushed open the door, went inside, and ordered two cups of lemon tea. As he turned around, he noticed someone staring at him.

The person didn’t avert their gaze even after being noticed. Instead, they smiled at him. Rong Shu quickly looked away and sent a message to Shen Huaixiu, letting him know he was buying drinks so he wouldn’t worry if he didn’t see him.

Suddenly, the space around him darkened. The Alpha who had been sitting by the door was now standing next to him. “Hello, let me formally introduce myself. I’m Mu Ye from the Mu family.”

Hearing the name Mu Ye, Rong Shu felt a wave of resignation. He glanced at the hand extended toward him, then gave a polite nod. “Hello.”

“Two lemon teas.”

Rong Shu took the drinks, thanked the cashier, and turned to leave.

Mu Ye stayed where he was, not following him outside. He could tell that Rong Shu had no interest in him.

When Rong Shu returned, Shen Huaixiu slid the bowl of beef noodles over to him. “You were gone so long, I thought someone had kidnapped you.”

Rong Shu laughed. “It almost happened, so you’d better keep an eye on me!”

After finishing their meal, Rong Shu sipped on his lemon tea and asked, “Where are we going now?”

“Back to the dorm. We’ve got to study. The monthly exams are next week. Where else do you want to go?”

Shen Huaixiu, after paying the bill, also got a takeout box of crawfish for Rong Shu.

As Rong Shu stood up, he hooked a finger around the bag’s edge to peek inside and squinted when he saw what it was. “I thought you’d be heading to the boxing gym!”

“I told Second Brother I’d skip it this week because of the exams. Let’s go.”

Shen Huaixiu extended his hand, waiting for Rong Shu to take it.

As they left the noodle shop, Mu Ye was just coming out of the milk tea shop. His dark eyes briefly flashed when he saw them together.

On the way back, they passed by groups of students who had come out for lunch. When they noticed Shen Huaixiu and Rong Shu holding hands, many couldn’t help but take a second—and even a third—look. Even after the two had walked far ahead, the students were still staring, as if they had just seen a ghost.

Very soon, a thread titled #Is The Campus Heartthrob Dating The Campus Tyrant?# appeared on the forum of Federal No. 1 Middle School.

Ma Jinyan, who had originally planned to use a mountain hike as an opportunity to impress Rong Shu, soon found out that Rong Shu had taken the day off, and Shen Huaixiu wasn’t there either. Clearly, he had been stood up.

Now, looking at the thread in the forum, Ma Jinyan felt like he was about to cough up blood.

When Mu Ye saw the thread, he thought back to the scene he had witnessed earlier that afternoon and began to understand why Rong Shu wasn’t interested in him.

It seemed that the Mu family’s hopes were going to fall through again, but Mu Ye wasn’t particularly bothered—he hadn’t planned on following those old folks’ wishes anyway.

After picking up his dorm key from the registration office, Mu Ye was walking toward the dorm building when he ran into Ma Jinyan, who was out for a stroll. Mu Ye wasn’t very familiar with him; after all, the Ma family was a tier below the Mu family.

However, as a member of the Ma family, Ma Jinyan had made it a point to familiarize himself with the notable young people from various prestigious families. He could recognize almost all of them.

He had been hoping for an opportunity to befriend Mu Ye, and unexpectedly, the opportunity had come so soon.

“Hello, Mu Ye. I’m Ma Jinyan from the Ma family. It’s great to see you here. You’re here for the Rong family’s omega as well, right?”

Mu Ye glanced at the person who had approached him so casually. At that moment, he suddenly understood how Rong Shu must have felt earlier. Who is this guy, coming up to me like we know each other?

“Do you need something?” Mu Ye asked.

Ma Jinyan’s heart sank, but he maintained a smile. “No, I just thought it would be nice to meet you and become friends.”

“I don’t need friends.”

With that, Mu Ye turned and walked away. See? At least I didn’t call him a lunatic like some people might have. The Rong family’s omega isn’t so bad after all.

Meanwhile, back in the dorm, Rong Shu was peeling crawfish when he sneezed. He looked up at Shen Huaixiu, who was working on a practice test across from him. “Why do I feel like someone’s thinking about me?”

Without looking up, Shen Huaixiu replied in a low voice, “You still haven’t finished eating?”

“You bought so much! How could I be done so quickly?” Rong Shu took a piece of peeled crawfish and popped it into Shen Huaixiu’s mouth before leaning closer and teasing, “Are you lonely because I’m not studying with you?”

Shen Huaixiu, with a crawfish in his mouth, looked at the boy resting his head on his arm. Unable to resist, he reached out and pinched his cat ears. “Hmm, now go wash your hands and join me in solving problems.”

“Fine, I really can’t win with you,” Rong Shu said, but quickly headed to the bathroom to wash his hands.

After an entire afternoon of studying, when checking their answers, Rong Shu realized that his deskmate, his Alpha, had a learning ability on par with his own. And he was the type who didn’t need to study too hard—he just had to go over the material once and he’d remember it. A bit of practice before exams and he’d always score well.

Holding Shen Huaixiu’s perfect math test in hand, he said, “Wasn’t the northern campus supposed to have weaker teachers than the southern campus? Didn’t people say that you guys over there are too busy fighting and expanding turf to study? How… how come you’re like this?”

Shen Huaixiu snatched his test back and returned Rong Shu’s paper. “You got the second multiple-choice question wrong. Look at it again. It’s a basic question but you misread it and didn’t focus.”

Rong Shu: “… You’ve deceived me, and now you’re saying I wasn’t focused!”

Hearing the boy’s pitiful tone, Shen Huaixiu almost felt like he’d committed some heinous crime. “How did I deceive you, hmm?”

“I always thought you were a bad student. However, it turns out you’re a top student. You’re both a school tyrant and a top student. What, do you want me to start calling you ‘Daddy’ now?” Rong Shu tossed his test paper onto the desk, stood up, walked over, and pushed down on Shen Huaixiu’s shoulders, sitting directly on his lap. Cupping Shen Huaixiu’s face in his hands, he teased, “Calling you Daddy isn’t out of the question, but only in bed!”

Author’s note:

Rong Shu: The tension’s broken, now I can finally stop pretending, hehe!
