On the day of Shen Huaiqiu’s wedding, guests were invited to celebrate, surrounded by a sea of flowers and the blessings of everyone as they exchanged vows.
Rong Shu and Shen Huaixiu sat below, watching the couple embrace on stage, their fingers intertwined. “Second Brother looks so happy,” Rong Shu remarked.
“Who wouldn’t be happy on such a day?” Shen Huaixiu turned to him. “Aren’t you happy?”
Rong Shu could tell Shen Huaixiu was teasing him. He squeezed his hand. “Of course I’m happy! I’m practically exploding with joy!”
The two little ones, dressed as flower children by Rong Shu, were on stage tossing petals.
But halfway through, Xiao Tao got distracted by the pastries on the table and scampered over to eat.
Only Xiao Putao remained in the middle, diligently scattering petals.
Seeing this, Rong Shu couldn’t help but laugh and cry at the same time. He nudged Shen Huaixiu, urging him to bring Xiao Tao and Putao back.
Shen Huaian sat there, his eyes fixed on the stage, while beside him, Chen Yujin was contentedly eating at the table.
He hadn’t been invited but shamelessly tagged along.
“You woke up so early this morning and haven’t eaten a thing. Have some of this; the shrimp is quite fresh,” Chen Yujin said, pushing a plate of peeled shrimp toward Shen Huaian.
Shen Huai’an glanced at him. “You didn’t even have an invitation, yet you just come in to mooch. Aren’t you embarrassed?”
“Why should I be embarrassed? I don’t have an invitation, but there’s only one per family anyway. What’s the difference between your family and mine?”
A typical display of shamelessness.
Shen Huaian couldn’t help but kick him under the table. “Have some dignity; don’t you worry about being laughed at?”
Chen Yujin chuckled. “Hurry up and eat this, it’ll help your stomach.”
With no choice, Shen Huaian ate the shrimp from the plate.
After the event concluded, Shen Huaian had matters to attend to at work, so he couldn’t stay long. He exchanged greetings with Shen Huaiqiu and prepared to leave.
As soon as he reached the parking lot, Shen Huaian spotted Chen Yujin leaning against his car. When he saw Shen Huaian approaching, he waved with a smile. “Give me a ride; I didn’t drive.”
Shen Huaian opened the car door and got in, and Chen Yujin immediately rushed over. “I’ll drive; you can rest for a bit. You woke up so early—aren’t you tired?”
Shen Huaian decided to relinquish the driver’s seat without arguing, stretching his legs as he settled into the passenger seat and closed his eyes to rest.
He ended up dozing off for a while. When he opened his eyes again, he realized they were definitely not heading back to the city; they were driving further away.
“Where are you going?” he asked.
“Taking you on a little adventure,” Chen Yujin replied, pulling out a bottle of water he had prepared earlier and handing it to Shen Huaian. Shen Huaian took a sip and said, “Don’t give me excuses. I have work to do. I don’t have time for your nonsense.”
“It’s a rare chance to get out, so let’s not talk about work. Let’s relax a bit. I’ll take you to the resort to soak in the hot springs. It’s decided! If we go back now, we won’t have enough time, so Mr. Shen, you’re skipping work today.”
Chen Yujin had planned everything. Shen Huaian sighed. “You had this all figured out, didn’t you?”
At this point, Chen Yujin didn’t bother to hide it anymore and nodded. “Yep.”
Shen Huaian instantly lost his temper.
When they arrived at the resort, Chen Yujin opened the car door and got out, with Shen Huaian following behind. He adjusted his clothes; it had gotten a bit chilly and he was underdressed, feeling unexpectedly cold.
Noticing this, Chen Yujin naturally took his hand and tucked it into his pocket, an action so familiar it felt almost effortless.
In fact, back in middle school, Chen Yujin often helped him warm his hands.
Shen Huaian felt a slight tremor inside, wanting to pull his hand back, but Chen Yujin held on tightly and glanced back with a discontented look. “Don’t move.”
Fortunately, the parking lot wasn’t far from the resort.
Chen Yujin had given the old steward a heads-up before arriving. As they approached, the steward smiled warmly and greeted them, “Young Master Chen, Young Master Shen, good to see you.”
“Hello, Uncle Liu. Sorry for the disturbance.”
This resort was privately owned by Chen Yujin, and it wasn’t Shen Huaian’s first visit.
“Uncle Liu, is the food ready?”
“Everything is ready. Shall we eat now?”
“I’ll help An An wash up first, then we’ll eat.”
Chen Yujin’s casual use of “An An” made Shen Huaian feel a bit awkward, but he decided to go along with it.
After washing up in the room, Shen Huaian finally felt warm again.
Sitting at the dining table, he sipped the oxtail soup that the old steward had brought him.
“Why hasn’t he come down yet?”
“The young master may have something to attend to and will be a bit late.”
Hearing this, Shen Huaian scoffed inwardly; he had brought him here despite having things to do himself.
After finishing a bowl of oxtail soup, he felt warmth spreading throughout his body.
Just then, Chen Yujin finally came downstairs.
Shen Huaian held his bowl of rice, and without waiting for him, Chen Yujin smiled and asked, “So, how is it? Tasty?”
Shen Huaian nodded. “Not bad.”
“Then eat more.” After saying this, Chen Yujin took the bowl of rice from the steward. “After we finish eating, come with me to a place.”
“Where else are we going? I don’t want to go through any more trouble.”
“We’re not going out; we’re staying in the resort. You’ll know once we get there. I’ve been preparing for a long time—just do me a favor.”
Seeing him say this, Shen Huaian nodded. “Fine.”
After the meal, Shen Huaian started feeling drowsy but thinking about going somewhere with Chen Yujin kept him alert.
Fortunately, Chen Yujin didn’t make him wait long and stood up, taking his hand to lead him upstairs.
Shen Huaian felt curious inside, thinking he must be going back to the room to get something.
As it turned out, the room Chen Yujin took him to wasn’t his bedroom at all, but a room quite far from it. When the door opened, Shen Huaian was greeted by a spacious room filled with photos from different stages of their lives.
There were pictures from their childhood, middle school, high school, college, and even after they started working—every phase was represented, covering the walls completely.
Standing in the middle of the room, Shen Huaian looked at the photos, puzzled about where Chen Yujin had found them and when they had been taken.
How could there be so many?
He turned to the Alpha standing beside him. “Did you take all these?”
Chen Yujin nodded.
“When? Why didn’t I know anything about this?”
With a smile, Chen Yujin walked over. “I took them secretly.”
Even if it was done secretly, that required a great deal of patience.
Shen Huaian couldn’t deny feeling touched; it was clear that Chen Yujin’s declaration of love over the years was no joke.
Looking at these pictures, it was evident that Chen Yujin had planned this from the very beginning.
“Now, there’s one phase missing, An An. Would you help me fill it in?”
Shen Huaian understood what he meant—the photos from the time they were together after their vows.
Chen Yujin was seeking a clear answer from him.
Shen Huaian met his gaze. Chen Yujin didn’t rush him; instead, he looked back at him gently.
Suddenly, Shen Huaian smiled. “You’ve never given me a chance to refuse, and you know very well that I can’t say no to you. Let’s be together, Chen Yujin.”
They had grown up together, spending even more time with each other than with their own families.
He couldn’t imagine what life would be like if he no longer had Chen Yujin by his side.
Besides, Shen Huaian didn’t have any negative feelings toward Chen Yujin.
If he did, he would have shut Chen Yujin down completely when he first expressed his feelings.
But he didn’t; instead of feeling disgusted, he felt flustered and unsure of what to do.
Chen Yujin looked at him, seemingly stunned. “Can you say that again?”
“Don’t push your luck. You heard me; why are you asking?” Shen Huaian flicked the photo hanging in the center of the room.
After a “pop”, Chen Yujin pulled him into his embrace. “An An, I will treat you well.”
“Shouldn’t you treat me well?” Shen Huaian lightly punched him.
Chen Yujin nodded. “Yes, I should.”
The previously playful Alpha suddenly seemed like a fool.
Shen Huaian broke free from his embrace and was met with Chen Yujin’s reddened eyes, causing his heart to soften. “Are you about to cry?”
“Can you not say that?” Chen Yujin forced a casual smile, but Shen Huaian knew he was feeling particularly emotional.
This made Shen Huaian’s feelings become complex as well. “That’s enough; you need to tone it down.”
After saying that, he reached out to wipe the corner of Chen Yujin’s eyes.
Chen Yujin grasped his wrist, pulling him back into his embrace. “An An, thank you.”
There were so many things he wanted to say, but in the end, it all boiled down to those simple three words.
He understood that Shen Huaian accepting him and agreeing to be together required immense courage and a significant sacrifice.
Even when he had been full of confidence, he knew that if Shen Huaian rejected him, he wouldn’t know how to cope with it.
But Shen Huaian had agreed to him.
“Are you feeling better now? Have you sorted out your emotions?” Shen Huaian patted his shoulder.
“Just hold me for a bit longer.” Chen Yujin, a big Alpha, was acting coy.
Realizing this, Shen Huaian laughed and pushed him away. “Come on, look at yourself—a big Alpha acting like a soft Omega?”
Chen Yujin shamelessly nodded. “If you need me to be, I can do that.”
“Get lost, I want to go back to sleep.” Shen Huaian didn’t want to continue this ridiculous conversation and pretended to leave.
But Chen Yujin grabbed his arm and pulled him back. Then he began to unbutton his shirt. Shen Huaian raised an eyebrow. “What are you up to now?”
“Mark me. Come mark me, An An.”
Shen Huaian: “…”
This was something they couldn’t avoid.
He just didn’t expect Chen Yujin to take it this far.
“I don’t want to, at least not right now.”
Shen Huaian looked at him seriously. Chen Yujin held his hand. “Okay, I’ll wait until you’re ready.”
Hearing this, Shen Huaian felt relieved. “I just want to go back to sleep.”
“Do you need me to hold you?” Though Chen Yujin asked, his expression clearly showed he was eager to.
Shen Huaian pushed him away. “I can walk by myself.”
Once they got back, Chen Yujin directly pulled him into the master bedroom. Shen Huaian decided not to refuse and allowed him to make the arrangements.
He was genuinely a bit tired. After lying down for a short while, he fell asleep.
After the wedding reception for Shen Huaiqiu ended, he searched for Shen Huaian for a while, only to remember that Shen Huaian had left early, apparently with Chen Yujin.
Shen Huaiqiu found Shen Huaixiu. “Did Big Brother go off with that Chen guy?”
“Big Brother didn’t tell me.” Shen Huaixiu glanced at him, giving him a look that suggested he needed to figure it out for himself.
Shen Huaiqiu thought for a while, then took out his phone to call Shen Huaian. But before he could dial, Shen Huaixiu stopped him: “Look at the time! If you call now, Big Brother will probably punch you.”
Three in the morning was indeed quite late.
Shen Huaiqiu put his phone away. “Then I’ll just go back to sleep and ask him when I wake up.”
So, when Shen Huaian woke up the next morning, he saw a missed call from Shen Huaiqiu. Upon answering, he heard Shen Huaiqiu say, “Big Brother, I just want to ask, what’s your relationship with that Chen guy now?”
“We’re together.”
“…” There was a long silence on the other end. “Can you speak a little louder? I didn’t catch that.”
“We’re together.”
“Okay, got it.”
Shen Huaian hung up the phone, ignoring Shen Huaiqiu’s complicated feelings.
As he stepped out of the room, he saw Chen Yujin wearing an apron and cooking at the stove.
The old steward stood nearby, looking as if he wanted to say something but was holding back.
Shen Huaian felt that everything seemed a bit off this early in the morning.
Forget it; everyone can do as they please.
Shen Huaiqiu was feeling particularly conflicted. After holding it in for a while, he couldn’t help but call Shen Huaixiu out.
Squatting on the steps, he asked, “Do you think that after a while, our Big Brother will still be our Big Brother? Are we getting another Omega in the family?”
“…” Shen Huaixiu didn’t expect him to be so bored. “You can just ask Big Brother yourself.”
“I want to, but I’m afraid of getting hit. Haha, Shen Huaian finally has his day!” Shen Huaiqiu jumped up. “I still want to congratulate him.”
Shen Huaixiu shook his head in disbelief and turned back to his room, clearly thinking, “You’re digging your own grave; don’t drag me into it.”
Although Shen Huaiqiu felt a little pleased, he was still too scared to directly ask Shen Huaian. Instead, he secretly gathered a lot of information about Alphas and how to be more assertive as an Alpha, hoping to help Shen Huaian.
As for whether Shen Huaian actually hit him when they met, no one knew.
Days passed, and before they knew it, Xiao Putao and Xiao Tao were of age to start kindergarten.
Both of them were now just over three years old and had grown a lot.
The baby fat on their faces had faded a bit, making them even cuter.
Rong Shu and Shen Huaixiu had already entered college.
To take the two little ones to kindergarten, both fathers took special leave to accompany them.
On the way to kindergarten, Xiao Tao suddenly started crying: “I want to go home! I want to lie in my blanket!”
“Didn’t we agree that you would be a good boy and go to kindergarten today? Besides, it’s only half a day. We’ll pick you and your brother up after half a day. Look, your brother isn’t crying!”
Rong Shu gently wiped his tears.
Xiao Tao looked at Xiao Putao with a wronged expression: “Brother wants to cry; he’s just pretending to be composed.”
Rong Shu couldn’t help but laugh at Xiao Tao’s use of the word “composed”.
This only made Xiao Tao cry even harder.
Xiao Putao took out a small biscuit, sitting quietly and munching while glancing at crying Xiao Tao as if this made it particularly enjoyable.
It was simply too funny for the two little ones.
Even though Xiao Tao was crying hard, he was still sent to kindergarten.
On the way, Xiao Putao held Xiao Tao’s hand. “See? Crying doesn’t help; you still have to come here.”
“Brother, are your biscuits good? I want to eat some too.”
“Finished them all.” Xiao Putao showed him his empty pocket. Xiao Tao instantly looked even sadder.
The teacher led the two little ones inside. Just as they sat down, a child with black hair and black eyes, sporting a small tail, looked over.
After Xiao Putao sat down, the child came over and said, “Hi, I’m Tongtong. What’s your name?”
“I’m Xiao Tao and this is Xiao Putao. He’s my brother.”
Xiao Tao’s eyes were still red, but he didn’t forget to socialize.
Xiao Putao looked at the small tail sticking out of Tongtong’s clothes, feeling a bit curious to touch it.
But he didn’t say anything.
After lunch, while waiting for their parents to pick them up, Xiao Tao needed to use the restroom, so Xiao Putao waited outside.
Tongtong walked over: “Do you want to touch my tail?”
Xiao Putao nodded.
Tongtong smiled and said, “You can touch it, but you have to be my friend!”
Saying that, he turned around and presented his little tail to Xiao Putao. Xiao Putao carefully reached out and touched the fluffy tail, feeling a bit shy afterward.
Then he took out a small biscuit and stuffed it into Tongtong’s hand: “Your tail is really cute; please have this.”
“Brother, didn’t you say you had no biscuits?” Xiao Tao, just coming out of the restroom, was extremely aggrieved at this scene.
Xiao Putao, caught in the act, remained calm and looked at the fuming Xiao Tao: “Oh, I just found this last piece, but now it’s gone.”
Xiao Tao: “…”
Tongtong: “^_^”
When Rong Shu came to pick them up, he noticed Xiao Tao looking unhappy while Xiao Putao still wore a serious expression.
Once in the car, Rong Shu couldn’t help but ask, “Did you have fun at kindergarten today?”
“Mm.”
“Not fun.” Xiao Tao turned his head with a look of grievance, “Brother gave his biscuits to someone else and didn’t share with me!”
Rong Shu was surprised that Xiao Putao would share with other kids: “Putao really shared his biscuits with another child?”
Xiao Putao nodded: “He let me touch his little tail; it was cute, so I returned the favor.”
“Oh, so it was a return gift. Good job, Xiao Putao.”
Rong Shu patted Xiao Putao’s head, but Xiao Tao immediately protested: “What’s so good about a tail? Brother, I still have ears; do you want to touch them!”
“No, Tongtong’s tail is cuter.”
Upon hearing the name Tongtong, Rong Shu figured it was that little friend.
The next day, to support Xiao Putao’s friendship, Rong Shu specially brought extra snacks for both of them.
However, when they came back from school, Xiao Tao looked aggrieved: “Tongtong is a bad guy! I gave him biscuits but he wouldn’t let me touch his tail. He even wanted me to trade my ears for it!”
Xiao Putao didn’t say much but he seemed to be in a good mood.
Rong Shu couldn’t help but pat Xiao Tao’s shoulder: “Did you let him touch your cat ears?”
“Of course not! He said I’m an Omega like him and that even if I let him touch, it wouldn’t matter. But Xiao Putao is different; he’s an Alpha! He likes Xiao Putao and wants to bond with him when they grow up. But Xiao Putao is my brother! Why should he be thinking about him? I hate him!”
Hearing this, Rong Shu couldn’t help but laugh, patting Xiao Tao’s head: “Next time Tongtong says that, just tell him you only want to be friends. Good friends don’t care about gender.”
“Really?”
“Of course it’s true.”
“But didn’t Uncle and Uncle Chen used to be friends? And they’re both Alphas!”
Rong Shu: “…”
He was completely at a loss for words!
