A perfectly good PE class was supposed to happen, and the PE teacher, who rarely isn’t sick, was actually here. Unfortunately, the weather didn’t cooperate, and a light drizzle began to fall under the gloomy sky.
Rong Shu propped his chin up with his hand and looked out the window at the continuous light rain, feeling like the moisture in the air was rapidly increasing. Chen Jing turned his head excitedly and asked Rong Shu, “Are we still playing ball during PE?”
The cat ears on Rong Shu’s head drooped as he waved his hand at him. “I’m manually saying goodbye to you!”
Chen Jing: “…”
“Deskmate, I’ll take you to a good place during PE class later, okay?” Rong Shu stretched out a hand to hook the corner of Shen Huaixiu’s clothes.
Shen Huaixiu, who had just finished packing up his things and stood up, looked down at him, his voice low and without emotion: “Where to?”
“You’ll know when we get there!” Rong Shu stood up with a smile, glanced back at the window, and said, “Let’s go before the rain gets heavier.”
“Hey, aren’t you two going to PE?” Chen Jing looked at the two walking out of the classroom with a face full of surprise and instinctively asked.
Rong Shu turned his head: “If the PE teacher asks, help us get excused. Just say I’m not feeling well and my deskmate is worried about me, so he’s staying to take care of me!”
By the end of his explanation, Rong Shu actually thought this was a pretty good reason. His eyes were filled with happiness, completely disregarding how Chen Jing and the others who overheard felt about this!
That demon god, would he really be so kind?
Why? Because he’s good-looking?
But no one dared to say anything, no one dared to ask.
As for Shen Huaixiu, the person in question, his expression didn’t change at all. He wasn’t affected by this statement, or maybe he just accepted it gladly?
The two of them came downstairs and stood at the entrance of the teaching building. Rong Shu looked at the drizzle outside and felt uncomfortable all over, his cat ears lying listlessly in his black hair. Shen Huaixiu noticed the irritation in his eyes and probably realized that this person didn’t like water very much.
His gaze swept over the cat ears on Rong Shu’s head, and the reason for not liking water became quite obvious.
Feline animals don’t seem to like water.
“Let’s go. If we run fast enough, we shouldn’t get too wet.” Although he said this to him, it seemed more like he was encouraging himself.
Shen Huaixiu followed behind him, rushing into the rain. The two of them stretched their legs and ran swiftly through the drizzle. When he glanced to the side, he could see the other person within his line of sight. This feeling was somewhat peculiar. Shen Huaixiu kept an eye on their direction until the surroundings became increasingly familiar.
Ten minutes later, they stood at the entrance of the dormitory building. Rong Shu shook his cat ears that were damp from the rain, his dark eyes filled with a smile. “Come on, let’s go back to the dorm and sleep. Rainy days go perfectly with a cozy bed!”
Shen Huaixiu was silent for a moment, then looked up at him. “So this is the good place you were talking about?”
“Isn’t it good? Or would you rather be like them, jogging and playing basketball in the rain, getting completely soaked?” Just thinking about that scene made Rong Shu feel horrified, and his entire demeanor seemed to wilt at the thought.
Shen Huaixiu glanced at the rain outside, which was getting heavier, and thought that going back to the dorm was indeed a good choice. “You’re right, let’s go.”
Hearing his own idea being agreed with, Rong Shu immediately smiled. “Right? You agree with me too, don’t you? Only someone like Chen Jing would enjoy playing around in the rain!”
When Chen Jing was mentioned, Shen Huaixiu’s eyes darkened slightly, but he didn’t respond. He pushed open the dormitory door, and Rong Shu went straight to the bathroom. It was clear that the rain on his body made him eager to clean up.
Shen Huaixiu pulled out a chair, poured a cup of warm water, and placed it on Rong Shu’s desk.
After cleaning up, Rong Shu came out of the bathroom wearing a silver satin bathrobe. This time, perhaps because of the cooler weather, it was tied more properly, revealing only a pair of fair calves. Seeing the water on the desk, Rong Shu’s eyes curved with a smile. “Did you pour this for me?”
“Mm, drink some warm water to ward off the cold.” Shen Huaixiu sat in the chair, holding a chemistry workbook in his hand, clearly not intending to waste this good opportunity.
Rong Shu took a sip of the warm water, set down the cup, and casually asked, “Are you this nice to everyone?”
Shen Huaixiu looked up and met Rong Shu’s dark eyes, then quickly shifted his gaze back to the workbook. Just when Rong Shu thought he wouldn’t answer, he heard three words: “No one else.”
Although it was still raining outside, his mood seemed to have cleared up.
Rong Shu curled his lips into a smile, grinning like a squirrel that had just stolen a piece of candy, hidden from Shen Huaixiu’s view. He flopped onto the bed, propped his head on his hand, and looked at the Alpha sitting at the desk. “Aren’t you going to take a nap? It’s a rare chance.”
“I’m not sleepy. You rest.”
“Then call me when it’s time to eat.” Rong Shu lay flat on the bed and turned over, hugging his blanket.
Shen Huaixiu’s gaze fell on the open chemistry workbook. The sound of the rain outside grew louder, yet it couldn’t drown out the steady breathing of the person behind him.
It was as if all his senses were focused on that person, enveloping him completely.
Even without turning around, Shen Huaixiu could still sense that his deskmate was sleeping soundly. The entire person was curled up in the white down comforter, with one of the cute cat ears flopped over on the pillow and the other tucked into his hair. He looked like a harmless little kitten, lying on his back as if inviting someone to bring him the best things in the world.
Shen Huaixiu looked up at the window. The rhythmic sound of the rain dripping outside somehow felt soothing.
Glancing at the clock on the desk, Shen Huaixiu closed his workbook and returned it to the shelf. He grabbed the white and blue school uniform hanging by the bed and left the dormitory.
Rong Shu slept deeply, and when he opened his eyes, he was still a bit groggy. He rolled over, rubbing his head against the pillow before lifting the covers and preparing to get out of bed. Instinctively, he looked around for the other person, only to find the room empty—Shen Huaixiu was nowhere to be seen.
He glanced at the desk, which was tidied up and spotless.
Rong Shu swung his legs, which were dangling off the bed, and pouted slightly in displeasure. Just as he was about to jump down, he heard the click of the door opening behind him.
The next moment, the person who had disappeared from the dorm appeared at the door, holding two meals.
Seeing him standing there, the Alpha looked a bit surprised. “Did I wake you?”
“Did you go out to get food?”
They both spoke at the same time and were surprised by the coincidence. Rong Shu smiled and followed him. “It’s still raining outside. Why didn’t you wake me up to go with you?”
Shen Huaixiu placed the food on the table and took off his rain-dampened uniform, hanging it to the side. “The rain outside wasn’t too heavy. I’ll go dry my hair.”
“Okay.” Rong Shu’s silver satin bathrobe, loosened by sleep, had slipped open quite a bit, but he didn’t seem to notice as he smiled and began unpacking the food on the table.
When Shen Huaixiu came back out, he saw Rong Shu standing with his back to him, his bathrobe slipping halfway down, exposing his slender and attractive shoulder. Shen Huaixiu looked away and walked over. “Your robe is open. Aren’t you cold?”
Rong Shu turned his head to look at him and saw that the Alpha behind him had lowered his gaze. His eyes were long and well-defined, a pair that looked cold when expressionless, but warm when smiling.
Rong Shu adjusted the slipping bathrobe properly. “Not cold at all. The room’s air conditioning is set just right.”
On the table were two servings of barbecued pork rice, along with a portion of takoyaki. Rong Shu divided the takoyaki in half and placed some in Shen Huaixiu’s bowl.
Shen Huaixiu didn’t have time to stop him and looked at the takoyaki in his bowl. “This was for you…”
“You bought it for me?” Rong Shu was a bit surprised but pleased as he finished Shen Huaixiu’s sentence. Seeing Shen Huaixiu nod, his smile grew even brighter. “Thanks, but I can’t eat a whole portion by myself. It’s perfect for us to share!”
Hearing this, Shen Huaixiu didn’t say anything more, though the typically rigid strings of his heart were gently plucked. Rong Shu pulled out a chair and sat down next to him.
“Mmm, this barbecued pork rice is pretty good.”
Shen Huaixiu nodded in agreement. “Mm.”
Rong Shu smiled at him, noticing that the collar of his shirt was wet from the rain. Instinctively, he reached out to point it out, but just as he was about to touch him, the Alpha, who was eating with his head down, suddenly raised his hand and grabbed Rong Shu’s wrist. The speed was so fast that Rong Shu, unprepared, couldn’t dodge and was caught.
The grip was a bit strong, and Rong Shu, not quite used to it, furrowed his brows. Their eyes met, and Rong Shu’s gaze showed a hint of panic. “Your shirt is wet here. I just wanted to tell you, I wasn’t going to do anything!”
The wrist in Shen Huaixiu’s grasp was thin and soft. Realizing that his instinctive reaction was too strong, he immediately regretted it. As he released Rong Shu’s wrist, he noticed the red marks left by his fingers on the pale skin, which stood out sharply, even though he hadn’t used much force.
“I’m sorry, I…”
“It’s okay. I reached out when you weren’t paying attention.” Rong Shu cut him off, smiling as he rubbed his sore wrist, though he didn’t feel as calm as he appeared. He knew that if he hadn’t been the one Shen Huaixiu saw, that reaction could have easily snapped his wrist.
Seeing Rong Shu rub his wrist, Shen Huaixiu said, “I have some ointment. You should apply it.”
“No need, it doesn’t really hurt. It’ll be fine in a bit.”
Rong Shu moved his wrist around; it didn’t actually hurt much, though it did look a bit alarming.
Shen Huaixiu didn’t say anything. He stood up and walked over to the cabinet, pulling out a black bag and then retrieving a bottle of spray from it.
Rong Shu’s eyes followed him the entire time, noticing the contents of the bag. A hint of curiosity flickered in his eyes, but by the time Shen Huaixiu turned around, his expression was back to normal.
Before Shen Huaixiu could speak, Rong Shu obediently extended his arm towards him.
Shen Huaixiu’s lips pressed into a thin line. Even though he appeared the same as before, Rong Shu could sense that the Alpha in front of him was feeling guilty.
Rong Shu hadn’t even started to act pitiful, yet the Alpha already seemed to feel bad, making it difficult for him to keep up the pretense.
“Does that stuff hurt when you spray it on?” Rong Shu asked though he didn’t pull his hand back.
“It doesn’t hurt, but it will feel a bit cool. Just bear with it,” Shen Huaixiu replied, quickly adding, “Sorry.”
Before Rong Shu could figure out why he was apologizing, his wrist was gently held again. This time, the Alpha was much more careful. The spray, with a hint of musk, felt cool as it touched his skin.
After spraying the area around Rong Shu’s wrist, Shen Huaixiu released his grip. “You can rub it a bit; it’ll heal faster.”
“Rub it? Like this?” Rong Shu tried to massage the red mark on his wrist, though he wasn’t quite sure how to do it.
Seeing this, Shen Huaixiu’s brows furrowed slightly. “Let me help you.”
“Sure!” Rong Shu immediately brightened and offered his hand to him. Shen Huaixiu, who had expected him to refuse, looked at the slender wrist extended towards him, his eyes darkening slightly.
