ARIWLBBC Chapter 13

The Great Cat's Misfortune

A new day dawned, and Lie Beishuang, rarely working from home, was tending to his tasks. Several chirping sparrows were grooming their feathers on nearby branches, but unlike the usual days where they would be zapped into ashes, today they remained unharmed. This indicated that the mood of the master of the territory was rather good.

The scepter floated nearby, swiftly handling various pieces of information.

The 35th Chief, Shaanna, once said, “If it weren’t for the scepter, my workload would increase tenfold.” This statement was copied multiple times by the scepter, pasted into several folders, and proudly regarded.

While handling citizen complaints, the scepter discovered the issue of a “player not setting a nickname.” After quickly reviewing all player records, the golden orb vibrated for a moment before flying to the side of Lie Beishuang.

“Master! There’s something very important!” The golden orb rapidly projected an image of a transparent wand in front of Lie Beishuang.

After a brief stare, Lie Beishuang withdrew his gaze, showing no reaction.

“This length, this form…” The golden orb couldn’t hide its astonishment. “Do you remember the appearance of the Second World’s SoC?”

“It’s not that.” Lie Beishuang decisively vetoed.

Inherited by successive chiefs of the Allied League, the golden scepter could control all intelligences within the alliance. The Second World also had a black-box scepter containing the core SoC of the Second World, encompassing all systems within it.

Due to the uniqueness of the Second World, the black-box scepter was so crucial that it could make all NPCs obey its commands and control the entire Second World.

Such a vital entity could not be entrusted to any living being.

From the first day as Chief, Lie Beishuang understood that the black-box scepter was guarded by the consciousness of the Second World, and no living being could touch it.

“But…” The small golden orb hovered in front of Lie Beishang, expressing its hesitancy.

“That’s enough.” Lie Beishuang didn’t want to discuss it further.

“There’s also an urgent matter.” The scepter cautiously stopped in front of Lie Beishuang. “Your legal mother, in a legal sense, requested communication three minutes ago and is still waiting.”

After a brief silence, Lie Beishuang changed his outfit mode. He adorned himself in a dignified and restrained black military uniform that covered his body. The golden shoulder patches, collar tabs, tassels, and golden eyes complemented each other. A black knife belt hung diagonally from the right shoulder to the left, though at the moment, the place where the knife should be was empty.

The robot butler brought a tray, and the man silently put on solid black leather gloves. Holding the military cap, he slowly placed it on his head, the brim aligning with his eyebrows. Between the cuffs and gloves, the sinews of the man’s wrists flickered, sturdy and powerful.

As if born to wear this attire, the military uniform symbolizing glory and dedication, everything about the man matched it to the fullest.

Complex patterns surfaced on the golden orb, suspended quietly at Lie Beishuang’s side, resembling a vivid and colorful oil painting.

Seated on the smart chair, the semi-transparent tabletop displayed today’s temperature and humidity. The presence of the temperature control satellite network ensured precise and accurate weather predictions for the future.

The golden orb activated holographic communication, and a woman in a white coat stood quietly by the window, wearing elegant black high heels.

“Long time no see.” The woman turned around, her delicate oval face showing nothing but indifference.

Under the brim, the golden eyes stared coldly at the woman, their gazes mirroring each other.

“How is your father?” The woman asked without a hint of concern in her voice, delivering a simple inquiry like the dull opening lines of a play.

Lie Beishuang remained expressionless.

“I heard you gained three more brothers. It seems his health is as good as ever. The reproductive speed of beastmen is truly surprising, isn’t it?” The woman carefully observed the holographic projection before her, while the man remained emotionless.

“It seems you don’t know about this.” The woman smiled slightly. “I predicted forty years ago that he would have seventy-nine children in the future. Apart from these three, within the next seven years, you might have four more sisters and six more brothers.”

Lie Beishuang stared intensely at the woman.

“Don’t look at me with that expression. You should be grateful. Even if he has many children, you are still the strongest. After all, I created you single-handedly, using his peak period sperm, combining it with the primitive human eggs brought by the Ark, and then editing a bit of the genes…”

“Shut up.”

The two words seemed to be squeezed out of the man’s throat. If conditions allowed, he would undoubtedly rush forward without hesitation and tear the woman’s body apart.

The woman paused for a moment, wearing a smile. “I’m glad you’re willing to talk to me. Since you’re willing to speak, why not share with me your good news?”

Lie Beishuang stared at the woman, his golden gaze like sharp blades.

“If you don’t want to talk, then let me.” The woman licked her lips, her eyes revealing great desire. “A freak like you managed to find a mate, and a human who had no information in the past eighteen years.”

Lie Beishuang suddenly stood up, hands pressed on the table. Cracks rapidly spread across the tabletop, and his eyes showed an unprecedented rage.

“You must be wondering what I want to do now.” The woman put on a sincere expression. “If you want me to stop bothering you again, fine! I want you to get close to him and adopt his…”

The golden eyes seemed to burn fiercely, and the man lifted the massive table, tearing out several segments of flaming circuits. The table flew towards the woman’s holographic projection, and the golden orb quickly closed the communication, spraying a calming mist towards the man.

Once the beastly nature of an ordinary beastmen is triggered, a suitable dose of tranquilizer usually quickly pacifies them. However, the mist emitted by the scepter had a concentration ten times higher than a regular tranquilizer, yet it proved ineffective against Lie Beishuang.

“I need to vent.” After a brief moment of calm, Lie Beishuang raised his hand, exposing a perfectly sculpted, muscular torso by removing his clothing. The robot butler swiftly took away the gloves and military cap, then quickly retreated, while the scepter expertly hid within its protective casing.

On the open ground, the only building was being mercilessly destroyed by a black panther. The distinctive metal walls were no match for the onslaught, and water spewed out in abundance from the broken walls, drenching the black panther. The black fur clung tightly to its body, revealing the smooth and compact physique beneath.

The panther, lost in its bestial nature, was unable to extricate itself. Unaware, it stepped onto a circuit, and the sparking wire head submerged into the water. The entire panther convulsed for a moment, emitting a burnt odor, before collapsing beside the wreckage.

Several sparrows that had been circling nearby chirped loudly, cautiously approaching the panther. After confirming the lack of reaction, the sparrows boldly landed on the black panther. Their tiny, sharp claws embedded deep into the panther’s skin, injecting a cloudy liquid swiftly.

After one sparrow succeeded, dozens of sparrows swarmed in. The black panther, which had been lying on the ground, suddenly opened its golden eyes. It twisted its body, fiercely clawing, pouncing, and biting. After a splash of mud and water, over a dozen sparrows fell into the ruins, a blend of half flesh and blood, half machinery—life and technology, the fairest fusion.

The panther, with a bit of the medicinal liquid at the corner of its mouth from the biting, accelerated its pace. Taking advantage of the fact that the drug hadn’t fully taken effect, it made its way towards the boundary of the uninhabited zone.
