ARIWLBBC Chapter 19

The Final Blow

In front of Gu Gu, a semi-transparent dialogue box appeared: [Fox-Pal Dog-Friend Team “Amber” has invited you to join the battle against the SS Rodent Spine Thorn Boss. Do you accept?]

Bo Ge had just selected “Accept” in the previous moment, and in the next, he heard the metallic voice reporting:

[Boss Overall Evaluation: SS
Team Member Overall Evaluation: SS
Success Kill Rate: 89.6%
Recommendation: Ready for battle.]

“Huh?” Amber raised an eyebrow in surprise, and everyone else was also momentarily stunned, suspecting they misheard the data.

“I understand!” Amber’s spirits lifted, and she lifted Bo Ge with both hands, resembling the moment when Simba was raised by Rafiki in The Lion King, thrilled and excited. “This is the human’s contribution to our team!”

Bo Ge, being lifted by the beautiful woman, had his feet dangling in the air. He stared at his teammates, struggling to reach the ground with his tiptoes, his face burning hot.

What kind of worldly suffering is this?

Everyone was just a bit over one meter tall; why treat a slightly shorter adult human like this!

“Ao…” The orc teammates’ pupils instantly dilated, all staring at the blushing human youth with expressions of being charmed.

The dignity of a man was completely gone, and Bo Ge covered his face in humiliation.

The ground shook again, and a quick-witted orc exclaimed, “Quick, put the human into the floating car and activate the protection mode!”

“I can fight!” Bo Ge explained hastily, but Amber chose to coax the youth with a gentle voice, “Yes, yes, yes.”

Then she forcefully stuffed Bo Ge into the floating car, activated the protection mode, pinched Bo Ge’s face a little more, and left.

“Roar!” The Rodent Spine Thorn Boss finally revealed its massive body from the cave. Covered in dense spines, with every movement, the spines resembled a thick thicket of grass blown by the wind, making it too intimidating to look directly at.

“Hiss.” A beastman turned his head, “I’m experiencing cluster phobia!”

“Prepare!” Amber was full of fighting spirit. “Teammates and allies from the Old World, B03 combat plan, arrange according to the formation we practiced.

Friends from the world channel coming to support, I’ve checked your character information, level 67 Alchemist, you can stand with the mages.

Sasha, get ready to record, release the Bee Eyes. This is the first SS-level Boss this quarter, a rare encounter. Watch the income, and we’ll split it evenly.”

Amber arranged everything methodically. The orange cat lifted its head to peek at Bo Ge inside the floating car, and with careful claws, it scratched Amber’s legs, “Miss, what about me?”

“I almost forgot you.” Amber grabbed the back of the orange cat’s neck fur and threw the cat ball into the floating car.

Inside the floating car, the outside scene was visible. Bo Ge reached up to catch the cat ball, resisting the urge to pat it twice, and placed the orange cat by his side, closely watching the battle.

The trapezoidal formation, mages at the four corners raised their staffs, forming a protective layer in mid-air, covering everyone in the formation.

In the center of the formation, a heavy, jet-black machine rose, with several launch ports all aimed at the Boss. It started gathering energy, and a dozen drones took off, getting close to the Boss to attract firepower.

The mages chanted spells in a low voice, the weapons in the hands of beastmen warriors gleaming with a cold light, laser weapons aimed at the Boss, and two mechs stood ready.

The Rodent Spine Thorn Boss, disturbed by the low-damage drones, roared lowly, shaking its body. Hundreds of spines were shot out, extremely powerful, easily piercing through the drones. The drones, equipped with infrared sensors, maneuvered flexibly among the spines, evading most of them. However, two drones closer to the Boss couldn’t dodge in time and were pierced, exploding over the Boss’s head, causing damage before leaving.

The Boss is quite intelligent; when the drones approached it, it shot out spines again. In less than three waves, only two and a half drones out of over a dozen remained.

Two drones returned, and under player control, the half drone exploded near the Boss’s eyes.

Taking advantage of the smoke covering the Boss’s vision, the launcher completed the energy gathering. Hundreds of laser beams shot towards the Rodent Spine Thorn Boss. In a few seconds, the Boss’s health bar dropped by a solid one-fifth.

Bo Ge was witnessing this scene for the first time, staring without blinking, the awe in his heart difficult to express.

As the laser weapons entered cooldown, the mages finished accumulating power. The three mages cast Frost Spread together, freezing the enraged Boss for three seconds. Although the damage wasn’t high, it bought time for the laser weapons.

“Venom of the Giant Snake!” The alchemist who entered from the world channel took advantage of the Boss being frozen and placed a poison circle under its feet. The Boss’s health began to gradually decline, and this poison circle seemed to have a “listless” effect, causing the Boss’s mental strength to decrease as well.

“The Song of Light.” The two mages followed up swiftly, and before the Boss could recover from the bright light in front of its eyes, the laser weapons were ready. The second wave of lasers hit the Boss, causing it to howl.

The team’s combat rhythm was exceptionally good, with perfect coordination that could only be achieved through multiple training sessions. Bo Ge, in the floating car, watched the dazzling skill effects, unable to hide his envy.

“Fighting an SS-level Boss isn’t as difficult as I thought,” the orange cat said, leaning against Bo Ge. Both of its eyes were insufficient to take it all in.

In less than five minutes, the Rodent Spine Thorn Boss was reduced to just a sliver of health. Suddenly, the rhythm of everyone’s attacks became chaotic, and various skills were thrown at the Boss.

“What’s happening?” Bo Ge looked puzzled.

“We’re fighting for the last hit,” the orange cat explained with understanding. “The player who gets the final blow can increase their achievement points, show up in the world channel, and may even get some untradeable good items.”

Excitement radiated from the players’ faces, but Bo Ge had a faint ominous feeling. According to various games he played in the past, Bosses weren’t this easy to defeat. Usually, they would have a nauseating healing ability. Often, just when they were about to be defeated, their health would suddenly rise, possibly causing players to have a brain hemorrhage in frustration.

Before Bo Ge could fully contemplate, the gigantic Rodent Spine Thorn Boss let out a mournful roar, collapsed, and ceased to breathe. Its body slowly dissipated, becoming transparent.

The crowd cheered, but the system’s announcement for the kill reward was notably absent.

“What’s going on?” Amber frowned.

Bo Ge instinctively looked around and finally, not far away from where numerous Rodent Spine Thorns had been electrocuted, he noticed something amiss.

One Rodent Spine Thorn staggered to its feet, its body constantly expanding.

“The Boss revived!” Bo Ge quickly poked his head out of the floating car, pointing the direction for everyone.

Amber led the team to swiftly adjust their formation. In less than ten minutes, the revived Boss was defeated again, but another ordinary Rodent Spine Thorn stood up, beginning to expand.

“I understand now,” Amber kept sliding her light brain on her wrist. “The Rodent Spine Thorn tribe will choose the strongest individual to inherit the Boss’s position after it dies. So, if we want to eliminate the Boss, we need to wipe out all the Rodent Spine Thorns in this cave!”

“We can do it!” The orange cat excitedly raised its paw. “While you guys fight the Boss, we’ll take care of the electrocuted ordinary Rodent Spine Thorns.”

Another wave of attacks from the Rodent Spine Thorn Boss came, overwhelming Amber and her team. In the midst of their busyness, they gestured “OK” to the two downed teammates.

Bo Ge and the orange cat quickly jumped out of the floating car and began eliminating the already electrocuted ordinary Rodent Spine Thorns. They soon completed the task of “Eliminate Ten Rodent Spine Thorns.”

Upon completing this task, Bo Ge leveled up on the spot, finally reaching level five.

But they couldn’t stop yet. Amber led the team to grind down the last sliver of health from the Boss, slowing the pace to give Bo Ge and the orange cat enough time to eliminate all the Rodent Spine Thorns.

One person and one cat swiftly harvested, and after more than ten minutes, the orange cat jumped up, proudly puffing out its chest, “All done!”

The team heaved a collective sigh of relief and began to attack with all their might. Having just defeated four rounds of the Boss, the laser weapons were nearing the point of needing repairs, and the launchers were about to explode if used again. The team’s energy was rapidly approaching negative values, and another round might lead to a wipeout.

While the intense battle continued, Bo Ge stared at the semi-transparent remnants of the Rodent Spine Thorns scattered around. He glanced at the cave entrance and suddenly realized something.

That cave didn’t appear to be naturally formed; it should have been dug out by the Rodent Spine Thorns. If Rodent Spine Thorns can dig holes, then…

In a sudden realization, Bo Ge swiftly searched near the corpses of the Rodent Spine Thorns. Sure enough, beneath the debris, he found a small tunnel.

With the Boss’s health bar already depleted, Bo Ge gritted his teeth and reached into the tunnel. After being pricked several times by thorns, he pulled out a surviving Rodent Spine Thorn, quickly pounding its head with his staff.

At the moment Boss fell behind him, the Rodent Spine Thorn under Bo Ge’s control tilted its head. It spat out a small red tongue, and above its head, a faint wisp of blue floated, entering the staff.

Congratulations resounded in the world channel immediately.

【Congratulations to the “Fox-Pal Dog-Friend” team for successfully killing the SS-level Rodent Spine Thorn Boss, and “Player Unnamed” for delivering the final blow!】

Author’s note: Amber: It’s not my fault that it’s 178 – that’s the average height of the beastmen. I just didn’t realize you were already an adult.

GooGoo: Since you didn’t make a mistake, why did you still lift me up? Being a bit over a meter is making me sad. What did I do wrong?
