Chapter 59
Although Jinghai is a city in Southern China, the temperature is still very low, despite it being early winter.
Qu Xueyu is a young master who refuses to get dirty in front of outsiders. Still, at this moment, he pressed the teenager into his small, clean sofa and stuffed a cup of steaming black tea into the other’s hand – it was a cheap teabag that he had just bought when he went out to buy daily necessities from a nearby kiosk, but in such a place, it was better than plain water. He then cleaned up the bedroom and bathroom, leaving them spotless.
‘Struggling student’ Lu Bai was not at all interested in helping out but was contentedly curled up on the small sofa, holding his cup of tea and slowly sipping it, watching the other party work with interest.
At last, the bedroom was cleaned up. After taking a bath, Lu Bai contentedly hugged the quilt and flopped onto the soft bed, his whole self as lazy and relaxed as a kitten in a warm den.
When Qu Xueyu came out of the shower, he saw the young man who was nestled in the cloud-like bedding and comfortably squinting his eyes. Outside the window, the cold and wet wind of the southern winter beat against the windows, creating harsh echoes. The old air conditioner in the house was humming, the warm air was running very well, and the ceiling light cast the whole room into a cozy, yellow warmth, giving Qu Xueyu a sense of home in his heart for a moment.
“Hmm, it feels like there’s something missing.” The teenager clutched the quilt, his curly black hair scattered across the white pillow, turning his attention to him.
Qu Xueyu couldn’t resist sitting beside the teenager. His hands playing with the teenager’s soft and slightly damp black curls, and his voice was a bit thick and muffled, “What?” At this moment, even if this young man asks for the stars in the sky, he would do everything in his power to climb up to the sky for him to pick them off.
Lu Bai tugged on the young man’s other hand on instinct, acting as if he was pouting and said in an innocent and petulant tone, “I want a rabbit lamp. You should bring me a rabbit lamp, I want to sleep with it.” After a pause he added, “But… if you sleep with me, I won’t need a rabbit lamp tonight.”
Qu Xueyu’s eyes were slightly mesmerized, his heart was about to beat out of his chest – the teenager’s eyes were pure and clear honey gold under the lamp. He was looking at him so intently and fondly, and his fingers holding his hand were so warm, his hair felt so soft… Qu Xueyu suddenly realized that he had fallen in love with this young man in such a short time – as if he was in love with him already. The fact that he had instantly fallen in love with this youth seemed to be both natural and inevitable.
“Okay.” Qu Xueyu said. He couldn’t refuse any of his requests.
Outside the cold wind howled against the window, but inside the small room was a warm spring-like and comforting darkness.
Lu Bai snuggled comfortably in the youth’s embrace. He raised his eyes to look at the youth, the bright sparkles in his eyes were like brilliant starlight amidst the darkness, “Shouldn’t we be doing something else at a time like this? You are my boyfriend.”
The young man was so frank and cute that no one could resist, but Qu Xueyu’s mind seemed to fly through countless streams of light that he couldn’t catch, an inexplicable sense of familiarity mixed with a sense of helplessness was immediately engulfed by an even stronger emotion called desire.
His hand on the teenager’s waist tightened, and his voice in the darkness was low and mute: “Is it hard?”
Lu Bai paused, his cheeks burned a little, he rubbed deeper into the youth’s embrace, his face buried into the youth’s neck, his hand grasping the front of the youth’s robe, “Well, I’m a little hard.” He seemed a bit embarrassed, his voice was a bit small, but the words he uttered made the youth about to go crazy, “As soon as I saw you, I wanted to be touched by you… but for some reason, once you touched me, I wanted to be touched even more by you… that place, there, feels uncomfortable as well… “
Qu Xueyu’s fingers covering the teenager’s waist nearly sank into the teenager’s flesh, he swallowed, then let out a low laugh. Tightening his hold of the teenager into his chest, he drew a deep breath against the other man’s neck and pressed a kiss into the young man’s hair.
“Be good,” Qu Xueyu’s hand reached under the covers and slid to a certain place, as he said, “Soon it won’t be uncomfortable anymore.”
“Mmm…” Lu Bai quietly moaned, his hands gripping the youth’s robes tighter, his toes curling, and his cheeks burning…
In the middle of the night.
Lu Bai’s forehead was slightly sweaty, and he clung to the youth’s waist, “Don’t you, don’t you feel uncomfortable too?”
Qu Xueyu raised an eyebrow at him in the darkness, “It’s uncomfortable.”
Lu Bai: “Then why…” Even if he had already finished… he would never dismiss his lover’s happiness.
Qu Xueyu curled his eyes as he pressed kisses onto the teenager’s brow and the corners of his eyes with overwhelming preciousness, “Because I love you.”1IRL once a male ejaculates they become oversensitive and what used to be pleasure can turn painful. So here, QXY focused on LB entirely and ignored his own ‘problem’ and then instead of letting LB suffer from even a bit of uncomfyness to help him in return, instead tells LB that he’s worth more to him than a single ‘completion’. Although he has no idea why he loved him so much the first time he saw him, it’s as if loving him is an unchanging innate thing that flowed through his blood. He simply couldn’t control it and didn’t want to.
Lu Bai’s eyelids fluttered, and his heart and the tip of his nose surged with a sharp sourness that was so heavy that it almost made him dizzy.
Qu Xueyu’s eyes had already adapted to the darkness, and when he saw the tears on the teenager’s face his heart broke. Reaching out to gently stroke the teenager’s face, he lowered his head and kissed off the warm teardrops from the teenager’s face: “Are you uncomfortable somewhere?”
Lu Bai shook his head through the soreness in his heart – he had no idea where the emotions that poured out of his heart after hearing the youth’s words came from, he didn’t even realize he was shedding tears, but this moment he was even more certain that he didn’t want this young man to leave him, so he murmured, “Will you live in my house and stay with me from now on?” His voice was a little soft as if he was delicately pleading with his closest person.
Qu Xueyu mused that there was nobody who could refuse such a young man at all, no matter what the request was. In response, he gently stroked the teenager’s hair and replied, “Alright.”
Only then did Lu Bai curl the corners of his mouth contentedly, wrapping his arms around the youth’s neck and peacefully entering dreamland.
~~~~~~
The next day.
In the passenger seat, after fastening his seatbelt, Lu Bai handed a slip of paper to Qu Xueyu: “This is my address.”
Qu Xueyu’s eyebrow twitched as he looked at the address on the note, which was clearly located in a wealthy neighborhood, and he peered at the teenager, “This is… your home?”
Lu Bai cocked his head and corrected, “It’s one of my homes.” His family said that this villa was his and that the Lu family’s main residence was also his home. After a pause he looked at the youth again, “You promised to come home with me last night.”
Qu Xueyu: “…”
Lu Bai didn’t pay any attention to the youth’s slightly puzzled expression as he leaned over and kissed the youth’s cheek and said, “Xiao Qu, let’s go!” After he had seen his picture, he naturally approached his family to ask for his name.
Qu Xueyu’s heart stirred when he heard the teenager’s endearment. Holding onto the back of the teenager’s neck and exchanging another kiss with him, he remarked, “I haven’t actually asked you yet, baby, but what’s your name?” It didn’t really matter what his name was at all, but a single possibility hauntingly appeared in his mind.
Lu Bai was being kissed comfortably, so he didn’t even care about the sadness of his lover not remembering his name. He blinked and said, “My name is Lu Bai.” After a pause he added, “My family says that it comes from the poem ‘The Dew is White Tonight’.”
Qu Xueyu’s eyes shrank as the poem struck his heart like a bell as if he had cherished and played with this even simpler verse and thought of a person countless times in the span of time that he could not remember.
Then he remembered how his grandfather had spoken of the Lu family’s child named Lu Bai, whom he had loved before he lost his memory.
Qu Xueyu took a deep breath, then leaned over the steering wheel, and laughed lowly-how could he have been so arrogant and cocky before, thinking that he wouldn’t love that child? He had clearly fallen so completely that, even after forgetting about that person, at the first sight of him, he would still be so deeply in love with him.
“Xiao Qu, are you alright?” Lu Bai covered the youth’s wrist with some concern.
“It’s nothing,” Qu Xueyu sat up and curled his eyes into a smile as he rubbed the youth’s hair. His eyes were incredibly soft and gentle. Then, he started the car, and with another quick glance at the youth, stated, “Xiao Bai, let’s go home.”
