ATIBEC Chapter 2

So it turns out, he was the unlucky cannon fodder supporting character who transmigrated into the book.

Why does this sentence appear here? !
This was clearly the decision he had to make painfully because of his occupational illness.

After staring at the completely darkened screen for several seconds, Shen Er suddenly sat up and pressed hard on the power button on the side of the phone.

The old phone was really sluggish in response; Shen Er pressed until his fingertips turned red, and only then did the brand’s logo slowly appear in the middle of the screen.

Gripping the phone, he stared intently as the logo faded away, replaced by the default lock screen interface.
Enter password, unlock.

Looking at the rows of novel reading apps, Shen Er fell silent.
What was that app he randomly clicked into just now…

Shen Er sighed lightly, fearing another freeze that would crash the system, he slowed down his actions, opening each novel app to check the latest browsing history.

Until he clicked into a certain free novel reading app—
[Peak of the Throne
Last read: Chapter 549]

Taking a deep breath, Shen Er clicked it.

[Hearing the doctor’s words, Shen Er, though unable to accept them, had no choice but to do so. He came out of the consultation room with a lonely expression, looking at Liu ge’s grim expression, he forced out an awkward smile.
“Go ahead and announce my retirement. I’ll go to the restroom.”
As the words fell, Shen Er avoided Liu ge’s gaze and walked straight towards the end of the corridor.
He pulled out his phone, pressed down on the Weibo post he had edited but never sent.]

For a moment, Shen Er wondered if he really had damaged his brain in the fall.

This was his painful experience and a last resort choice, yet now it had become just a few lines in a novel.

Furrowing his brow, Shen Er clicked on the search icon in the top right corner, and typed in his own name—Shen Er.

A flood of information appeared, and he clicked into each one.
But for him, what caught his eye was not the novel, but rather his many years of professional career.

Every sentence, every event, every lost match was something he had experienced, the ups and downs of his life.

“I’ve turned into the vicious supporting character who has the same name as me in this book?!”
A shocked and incredulous voice came from diagonally across.
“What should I do, what should I do, I won’t end up having my heart and kidneys dug out by the male lead according to the original plot, right?!”

Shen Er’s brow twitched, and his gaze fell over.

On the bed diagonally opposite, the girl put the earphones in her ears, but the plug of the earphones had not been inserted yet, and these two sentences were coming from that phone.

Just as expected, this thing about transmigrating into books which cannot be explained by the laws of physics…

Wait a minute!!
Transmigrating into books?!

His experiences were exactly the same as the experiences of the Shen Er in that novel. Did it mean that…
He had transmigrated into the book, lived through the life of “Shen Er” in the book, and then transmigrated back?

Shen Er tightly pursed his lips and clicked into the synopsis page of this “Peak of the Throne”.

The synopsis was only one short sentence.
[A story of the prodigy hyper who became the king of esports as soon as he entered the scene.]

Shen Er forced out a bitter smile.
His guess seemed to be correct.
The protagonist of this book, hyper, his old acquaintance, a bug-like existence that he could never defeat.

The book wasn’t very popular, even considered quite low in readership, with very few comments beneath it.
[Owl is just too miserable, the cannon fodder supporting character isn’t supposed to be this cannon-foddered, thumbs down]

So it turns out, he was the unlucky cannon fodder supporting character who transmigrated into the book.
Shen Er agreed with this comment and gave it a like, then indignantly removed the book from his favorites and uninstalled the app, putting down his phone.

Being unlucky isn’t supposed to be this unlucky!!
Losing to the protagonist in every match is one thing, but why did they have to kill him off too?!
No wonder it’s not popular!

However…

Shen Er raised his hands, looking at his perfectly healthy hands without any signs of injury.
Does this mean, if possible…
He might have the chance to compete in a professional match in the real world in his best condition?
He curved his lips, looking at his wrists, his smile tender and fond.

“Hey hey, young man, what are you doing?” The nurse on his left side, who was changing the dressing for another patient in the bed to his left looked up and saw his actions, quickly speaking up, “Put your hand down! The blood is flowing backward.”

Shen Er’s train of thought was interrupted as he looked at the IV line in his left hand with a needle inserted.
The blood was slowly flowing back up.

“Sorry.” Shen Er obediently put his hand down, looking apologetic towards the nurse.

“Keep moving like that, and I’ll have to restrain your hand like we did with that kid over there.” The nurse chuckled.

Shen Er was very cooperative: ” “No need, no need, I won’t move.”

With that said, Shen Er picked up his phone and opened the search engine, took a deep breath, and typed in the name of the game from the book—League of Legends.

[Download Center – Official Website of League of Legends – Tencent Games]*
[League of Legends Version 13.13 Update]*
[League of Legends Esports Official Website – Tencent Games]*

It’s a game that actually exists in reality!!
Not something made up by the author!!

Shen Er excitedly clicked into the esports official website, and coincidentally, there was a match going on at the moment.

He lowered the volume on his phone and stared intently at the game interface on the screen.

The familiar Summoner’s Rift, the familiar champions.

“Splendor will hit level 6 after finishing these jungle monsters, and at level six, Evelynn becomes a significant threat to the lanes. Splendor cleverly bypasses the river vision and heads mid!”

Even though he had lowered the volume on his phone, the commentary still reached his ears clearly.

Shen Er watched the blue side’s Evelynn crouching in the bushes, and his immediate reaction was—
This is the moment to bait, show a vulnerability, let the enemy seize this flaw to pursue an attack, then move forward to pressure the lane, increasing the success rate of the jungle gank.

With his left hand still hooked up to the IV, his fingertips danced swiftly on the white bedsheet.
It was as if beneath those delicate fingertips, there existed a keyboard that no one else could see.

But the LeBlanc on the screen had different ideas from his own, different actions. When she saw Evelynn lurking nearby, she chose to dash forward and use her chains.

The opponent became alert. The moment the chains connected and LeBlanc’s charm passive appeared above their head, they used a displacement skill to return to the safety of their tower.

“That wasn’t the right move for this situation,” Shen Er lamented.

·

“That wasn’t the right move for this situation! Kassadin has a built-in displacement skill at level 6. LeBlanc was too hasty!” the commentator sighed.

“You’re too impatient. I just hit level 6, the opponent doesn’t have vision of me. Naturally, they’ll be cautious. If you couldn’t find an opening to bait them into coming forward, fine. But you crossed the minion line to throw your chains, what were you thinking?” Yan Sheng sneered, giving up on ganking the mid-lane and instead heading into the opponent’s jungle.

“I just…” The mid-laner, Zuzu, seemed to be at a loss for words, stumbling over his response.

“You just got flustered by Kassadin’s antics. He’s playing sneakily, wearing you down. If you can’t secure a kill, if you can’t secure a lead, you start panicking. You’re thinking that Evelynn and Kassadin won’t be on the same level in the late game, so you push harder and harder,” Yan Sheng finished the sentence for him while activating a Scrying Orb between the enemy’s Blue Buff and Murk Wolf Camp, spotting the enemy jungler’s position.

Flash, Evelynn’s E surges forward, delivering three spikes, dropping the already half-health jungler below the execution threshold, finishing off with her ultimate while retreating back into the brush and heading towards the river without looking back, triggering his stealth passive to shake off the Kassadin chasing from mid lane.

Seeing the enemy Kassadin retreat back to mid-lane from the jungle, Yan Sheng chuckles lightly, “The vision in the bot lane brush is clear, I’ll be at the tri-brush soon; support just hook him directly then.”

At that moment, the broadcast camera focuses on Yan Sheng. On the big screen, Yan Sheng, wearing headphones, sports a nonchalant smile, his agile fingertips dancing on the keyboard.

The moment Thresh’s hook caught the enemy ADC, Yan Sheng arrived, Thresh threw a lantern behind him.
A charming little heart formed slowly above the enemy ADC’s head, and as it materialized, Yan Sheng clicked the lantern, teleporting next to Thresh, dashing in with E to charm the enemy and unleash three spikes, leaving the low-health ADC for his own ADC to finish off.

He then retreated and stealthily slipped into the Dragon Pit.

During the moment of passive healing while the stealth was active, Yan Sheng looks up at the broadcast camera and raises an eyebrow, “Handsome, right?”

The broadcast can only capture Yan Sheng’s expression, naturally unable to record what he says.

But almost everyone in the audience knows his demeanor.

“Splendor is definitely saying ‘Bro, handsome, right?'” the commentator laughed as he watched the cocky figure on the screen, jokingly added, “Yeah, handsome, indeed, both of these plays were cool.”

Shen Er was also caught off guard by this sudden eye contact, soon breaking into a helpless smile.

Every time he played a match, he was focused to the extreme, his gaze never leaving the screen. Even if his champion died, he would choose to switch views to check on his other teammates’ situations, rather than raise an eyebrow at the camera after pulling off a brilliant move.

Too arrogant.
Like a bratty kid.

Evelynn’s consecutive two sets of actions not only disrupted the rhythm of the enemy jungler but also boosted his own bot lane’s economy, while also securing a dragon.

After recalling to base for a quick item upgrade, Yan Sheng returned to the mid lane once again.

This time, LeBlanc wasn’t hasty. Seizing on an opponent’s mistake, she found a tricky position and chained the opposing Kassadin.

Shen Er’s finger lightly tapped on the blanket, his dancing fingertips on the blanket mirroring the exact movements of LeBlanc on the screen.

After chaining, LeBlanc moves closer to prevent Kassadin from escaping the range of her chains, then marks him with Sigil of Malice on his head, triggers it with her ultimate mimicking the Sigil for an explosion, detonates the second Sigil with another chain, and casts Ignite, before dashing back to her original position.

A set of combo maximizing damage.

Out of nowhere, Shen Er felt a twinge in his nose, and hot tears began to slide from his eyes.

Muscle memory couldn’t deceive him. Even though his years of professional career didn’t happen in real life, every day, every match, every endless night spent practicing each champion was his own—irreplaceable and beyond replication.

Even now, his hands bore no traces of esports, yet these unmarked hands were still the strongest.

The match on his phone continued, tears streaming down Shen Er’s face in torrents, yet even in tears, his expression bore a smile.

A person getting an IV drip, crying and laughing while watching a League of Legends match.
It’s a strange sight.

The son of the uncle in the neighboring bed was idle at the moment. Upon hearing the faint sound of a League of Legends match coming from Shen Er’s bed, he felt a little restless. After all, who wouldn’t like to gather around and watch the match while discussing it with fellow fans?

Seeing Shen Er crying like this, his first reaction was disbelief. Could someone cry like this just because their favorite team lost in the regular season of the Spring Split?!

Driven by a desire to see what was going on, he took a few steps closer, sneaking a peek at the phone in Shen Er’s hand.

But Shen Er’s phone was… barely functioning.

It froze again.

Frozen at the moment when Splendor looked up at the camera again.

“You…” He glanced at Shen Er’s phone, then at Shen Er, who was crying uncontrollably, and couldn’t help but ask, “Are you crying because Splendor is so handsome?”

Shen Er’s tears were stopped abruptly by this question. He blinked hard, looking up at the person.

“Splendor is handsome, but… that handsome? To pause and keep watching?” He looked at Shen Er in shock, then suddenly remembered that he didn’t know the person in front of him at all. It seemed impolite to speak like this.

“I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I sometimes speak without thinking, my apologies.” He quickly waved his hand and retreated to the neighboring bed, avoiding looking at Shen Er again.

Shen Er blinked hard, tears in his eyes hitting the screen with a “pa ta” sound, smudging and forming a tearful blossom.

Underneath this teardrop, the screen froze on Yan Sheng’s face as he seemed to look back at Shen Er.

Shen Er couldn’t help but think, he’s quite handsome.
But what does that have to do with me? What man would be moved to tears by another man’s attractiveness?!

He grabbed a tissue to wipe away his tears, then glanced at the IV drip above his head, which was almost empty.

Turning to the side, he pressed the nurse call button, then wiped the tears from his phone screen with his fingertips.

Yan Sheng’s face gradually came back into focus.

As Shen Er looked at his arrogant expression, he pressed the power button, turning off his phone.
