Sponsored chapter (4/8)
Cheng Ke had always believed he wouldn’t hold back, but life had a way of being unpredictable. After spontaneously throwing Jiang Yuduo onto the bed in broad daylight, he realized he had indeed been holding back, and quite effectively at that.
Perhaps it was the months of separation and the constant thoughts of Jiang Yuduo from day one that had led to this. Regardless, as their bodies pressed together, Cheng Ke humbly admitted that he had been holding back.
It felt like holding a pot of boiling water; the heat had penetrated deep into his body, searing every nerve, and everywhere it touched was ablaze with desire.
Jiang Yuduo should have resisted, but his resistance was probably over 8,000 times weaker than that of Meow’s. Cheng Ke couldn’t quite remember it clearly, but the reluctant gasp he had let out echoed in his mind.
Later, the rhythm of their breaths wasn’t as intense as that brief moment.
Meow cautiously entered the bedroom after their passionate encounter, behaving like a sensible and responsible health inspector.
First, it circled the bed twice, then leaped up and carefully sniffed the two entangled figures.
Cheng Ke gently pushed Meow aside, rolled over from on top of Jiang Yuduo, and lay down. He felt like he could finally breathe properly now. Turning his head, he looked at Jiang Yuduo, who was still resting on the pillow. “You…” he began, but Jiang Yuduo quickly interrupted him with a firm “Stop talking.”
Cheng Ke was taken aback and had intended to ask why. However, after some hesitation, he decided to remain silent. Instead, he reached out to place a hand on Jiang Yuduo’s back.
Jiang Yuduo swiftly moved his hand to push Cheng Ke’s away.
This left Cheng Ke puzzled. He lifted Meow, who had been resting on his stomach and sat up. Was this kid angry?
Could it be possible?
With such limited capacity?
But it couldn’t have hurt him… After all, he was still making that humming sound…
“San-ge,” Cheng Ke carefully propped himself up on one hand, leaning closer to Jiang Yuduo. To convey his sincerity, he even used an honorific title, “San-ge, you…” Jiang Yuduo sighed and turned his head to look at him, catching his wrist with his hand and pulling it down.
Cheng Ke ended up lying on top of him.
“Don’t speak,” Jiang Yuduo mumbled, burying his face back into the pillow, “Let’s take it easy.”
“…Alright,” Cheng Ke suddenly realized that this intense encounter might have had a significant impact on Jiang Yuduo, perhaps even making him a bit self-conscious.
He remained silent and embraced Jiang Yuduo sideways.
Around twenty minutes later, as Cheng Ke felt himself drifting towards sleep, Jiang Yuduo stirred.
Cheng Ke quickly raised his head and peered at him.
“Shall we take a bath?” Jiang Yuduo rolled onto his back and gazed at Cheng Ke.
“Yes,” Cheng Ke nodded.
Jiang Yuduo stared at him for a moment, then reached behind his head, pulling him down.
Cheng Ke lowered his head and kissed Jiang Yuduo’s lips.
The kiss was deeply earnest, tender, and somewhat desperate, like someone who had done something wrong and was seeking forgiveness.
Fortunately, Jiang Yuduo didn’t take too long to regain his composure. When Cheng Ke released him, he still lightly bit Cheng Ke’s lip before eventually letting go.
“Let’s go take that bath,” Jiang Yuduo said as he sat up, his expression seemingly returning to normal.
“Is something bothering you?” Cheng Ke asked, looking at him.
“Do you think your skills were inadequate and made me uncomfortable?” Jiang Yuduo got off the bed and stood by it.
“…I just wanted to be considerate and attentive,” Cheng Ke said.
“You lack confidence in your abilities,” Jiang Yuduo teased, a smug smile on his face as he thought he had a handle on Cheng Ke.
Cheng Ke sighed. “I take back what I said earlier.”
“It’s a bit late,” Jiang Yuduo opened the wardrobe to find a change of clothes. “I have a pretty good memory.”
Cheng Ke smiled, but then remembered something. “Where did you hide your phone?”
“Why didn’t you just ask me instead of searching?” Jiang Yuduo replied.
“I had no idea where to look,” Cheng Ke admitted, “I… I’m not used to rummaging through other people’s houses…”
Jiang Yuduo turned to look at him and sighed. “I’ll tell you. It’s in your coat pocket.”
“My coat pocket?” Cheng Ke was surprised.
“Yes,” Jiang Yuduo retrieved a coat from the wardrobe and tossed it onto the bed. “I placed it in this coat’s pocket… I thought…” Cheng Ke remembered that when Jiang Yu had taken his coat, he had only taken the one Cheng Ke had worn. He probably assumed Cheng Ke would wear his clothes like he did…
This realization made Cheng Ke feel a bit tender-hearted, and he jumped out of bed to hug Jiang Yuduo.
“Actually, I didn’t expect you to find out that I didn’t leave anything in my phone,” Jiang Yuduo touched his back, “I didn’t bring my phone because I was afraid I’d call you. If I heard your voice, I might have come back right away…”
“Well,” Cheng Ke nodded, “I understand.”
“If I had left, and you saw my phone, would you have smashed it?” Jiang Yuduo inquired.
“No,” Cheng Ke replied.
“Then what would you have done?” Jiang Yuduo pressed further.
“I would have cried,” Cheng Ke contemplated for a moment, “Well, maybe not necessarily. I already burst into tears the day you left.”
“Did you really cry?” Jiang Yuduo looked at him, his brows furrowing.
“Absolutely,” Cheng Ke sighed.
“For real?” Jiang Yuduo continued to question him.
Cheng Ke sensed that Jiang Yuduo was like a child seeking reassurance of his significance, so he smiled and nodded, “Absolutely.”
“Did you create a river of tears?” Jiang Yuduo asked.
“I couldn’t stop crying,” Cheng Ke admitted.
Jiang Yuduo fell silent, gazing at him for a long while before hugging him tightly. “I’m sorry, Cheng Ke.”
“Don’t dwell on that,” Cheng Ke responded. “You didn’t do anything wrong.”
Jiang Yuduo held him for a moment longer before letting go. He wiped his face, picked up their clothes, and headed for the bathroom. “Shall we shower together? Let’s hurry up and eat after we’re done. I’m hungry.”
“Sure,” Cheng Ke agreed. Jiang Yuduo was indeed a remarkable person. At first, he had to take things slow, but once he was over it, he became quite relaxed.
When Cheng Ke entered the bathroom with a change of clothes, Jiang Yuduo was already standing beneath the showerhead. As Cheng Ke watched the water cascade down his body, he couldn’t help but recall their previous encounter.
During their intimate moments, it had felt akin to taking a drug. Everything appeared blurry and hard to perceive, and an underlying sense of urgency prevailed. Yet, in this seemingly chaotic state of mind, everything was in fact crystal clear.
Every sight, every sound, every touch was imprinted not only in the brain but also in the body, allowing instant and precise recall of those moments that left you breathless.
“I there something here?” Jiang Yuduo pointed at his shoulder blade. “Why does it feel a bit sore?”
“I… let me see,” Cheng Ke cleared his throat and pretended to examine it.
Of course, it was sore. How could it not be after the intense bite? The pain had been so intense that it had caused Jiang Yuduo’s muscles to tense up.
“It’s a bit sore, but nothing serious,” Cheng Ke reassured.
“Damn, you’re really something,” Jiang Yuduo turned his head to look at him. “You went wild and bit so hard… on my shoulder.”
Cheng Ke chuckled and stepped under the nozzle, pressing against Jiang Yuduo’s back. “I really didn’t mean to.”
Jiang Yuduo clicked his tongue, lowering his head to immerse himself in the water for a moment. He then turned to face Cheng Ke, the shower’s spray creating a curtain of water between their faces, making it difficult to keep their eyes open.
“Cheng Ke,” Jiang Yuduo began, his voice low and husky, “Just now…”
“Yeah,” Cheng Ke replied, wiping the water from his face, though it didn’t help much. Jiang Yuduo’s expression remained inscrutable, his voice and tone carrying an uncertain quality.
“Was that you teaching me?” Jiang Yuduo inquired.
“You could interpret it that way,” Cheng Ke responded, not expecting this line of questioning.
“It’s not that I want to interpret it that way, it’s that you said it yourself,” Jiang Yuduo retorted, then stuck a finger in his ear and mimicked Cheng Ke’s tone, saying, “I’ll teach you now.” Cheng Ke felt a sudden embarrassment and unease.
Hooligans, indeed! How could he utter such audacious words?
“Teaching is over now, right?” Jiang Yuduo asked.
“Well,” Cheng Ke heard a trace of lingering doubt in Jiang Yuduo’s voice and clicked his tongue, “Lesson One, Lesson One…”
Before he could finish his sentence, Jiang Yuduo suddenly reached out and pinched his shoulder firmly.
“Ah!” Cheng Ke yelped, the pinch had been unexpectedly forceful, causing a sharp pain in his shoulder, and he couldn’t help but cry out from the depth of his being.
Before he could fathom whether Jiang Yuduo was retaliating or for what reason, Jiang Yuduo’s hand on his shoulder had already spun him around and slammed him against the wall.
If Cheng Ke hadn’t reacted quickly enough to brace himself against the wall with his hands, his face would have collided with it.
“What are you doing…” Cheng Ke yelled, but Jiang Yuduo cut him off before he could finish.
“I’m doing it,” Jiang Yuduo purred from behind, wrapping his arms around Cheng Ke’s waist. “I’m turning in my homework now…”
Afterward, he added with a touch of sentiment, “I’ve grown up and haven’t turned in my homework before.”
“Get off!” Cheng Ke roared in anger.
“Don’t want to!” Jiang Yuduo retorted with equal fervor, then bit down on Cheng Ke’s shoulder.
“Ah—!” Cheng Ke winced in pain.
But beneath the sharp sting of pain, there was a certain undercurrent of emotion.
When the horn blared outside the window, Cheng Ke was sprawled on the sofa, engrossed in his phone, his legs casually resting on Jiang Yuduo.
“Damn, could it be Chen Qing?” He suddenly bolted upright.
Jiang Yuduo was in the midst of trimming Meow’s nails, and his hands jolted, not causing harm to Meow but inadvertently tugging its paw. Meow swiftly withdrew its paw, leaped off the sofa, and scampered away.
“Chen Qing doesn’t know I’m returning?” Jiang Yuduo turned his head.
“I didn’t inform him that you were coming back today, but…” Cheng Ke hopped off the sofa, “But he probably guessed we’d be together, and seeing someone at home now, he must’ve…” B
efore he could reach the window, Chen Qing’s voice echoed from outside: “Jaeger-LeCoultre! Jaeger-LeCoultre! You’re back! Did San-ge come back too? San-ge!”
“It’s Chen Qing for real!” Cheng Ke hushed.
Jiang Yuduo sprang up from the sofa, and the swiftness with which he reached the door astonished Cheng Ke.
He shut the door firmly behind him.
As expected, the very next second, the key jingled outside the door, followed by the sound of the lock turning.
Cheng Ke and Jiang Yuduo exchanged a glance, keeping silent.
Chen Qing couldn’t unlock the door and began pounding on it. Cheng Ke suddenly came to his senses: “What are we doing?”
“Huh?” Jiang Yuduo was perplexed.
Sitting on the sofa, fully clothed, why were they acting as if they had been caught cheating by a spouse?
Possibly because they had engaged in two vigorous rounds of play just an hour ago, and their hooliganism had gone a bit too far, leading to a sense of guilt…
“Open the door!” Cheng Ke whispered, “Or he might think we’re up to something!”
Jiang Yuduo blinked, rushed over, and unlatched the door.
The moment it swung open, Chen Qing barged in, exclaiming, “San-ge!”
“Hey,” Jiang Yuduo replied.
“Damn! You’re back!” Chen Qing slammed the door shut, his eyes welling up with tears. “You’ve really come back!”
“Don’t cry,” Jiang Yuduo pointed at him, “If you dare cry in front of me, I’ll slap you.”
“You didn’t even let me know when you were coming back!” Chen Qing fought back tears, glaring at Jiang Yuduo, then turning to glare at Cheng Ke. “You could’ve at least told me when he was returning!”
“I just arrived,” Cheng Ke said defensively, “I hadn’t even had a chance to call you yet.”
“You should’ve called me when you left!” Chen Qing scolded, “What’s wrong with your brain!”
Cheng Ke was left speechless. He hadn’t actually informed Chen Qing the moment he returned. However, he brushed it off casually, not thinking he needed to inform Chen Qing right away. After all, he had been holding back for so long…
Seeing Chen Qing’s demeanor now, Cheng Ke felt a twinge of guilt. After all, Chen Qing was a deeply cherished friend in Jiang Yuduo’s heart.
“Sorry, I just… forgot,” Cheng Ke cast a quick glance at Jiang Yuduo.
“We haven’t been apart for that long,” Jiang Yuduo patted Chen Qing on the back, “It felt like we were separated by life and death.”
“The main issue is that you didn’t say anything; you always used to let me know when you went out before,” Chen Qing finally began to calm down.
“It’s only right,” Jiang Yuduo remarked, “Let’s call Da Bin and a few others for a meal.”
“Not just eating, but drinking too. Tonight’s going to be an all-nighter,” Chen Qing slapped his thigh enthusiastically.
“All night,” Jiang Yuduo nodded in agreement.
“I’ll text them now and book a table. What do you guys want to eat?” Chen Qing took out his mobile phone.
“You two have lunch… Hey!” Chen Qing suddenly lifted his head and gazed at them before he could finish speaking. The two exchanged glances.
“What’s the matter?” Cheng Ke became suddenly anxious and swiftly checked his clothing for any issues, finding none.
“You two just now… I wondered why you locked the door. Oh, I can’t believe it,” Chen Qing mumbled, covering his face and turning around. He continued, “I really didn’t mean to intrude; I was in a hurry and…”
“You damn well be quiet!” Jiang Yuduo gave him a hearty smack on the back. “You’re making it sound like…”
“The door remained locked for an eternity,” Chen Qing sighed.
“Call your phone!” Jiang Yuduo bellowed. “Do you possess omniscience and know all the truths in the universe?”
“Hey, Da Bin!” Chen Qing held the phone to his ear. “You, right now, hurry up and book a table. Anywhere will do; a sour soup fish restaurant, the one we went to before… San-ge is back! Just returned…”
Jiang Yuduo appeared rather excited standing in the living room while Chen Qing talked on the phone, his eyes glistening with a hint of moisture.
During the time he had quietly departed, he had contemplated whether the place he had called home would change in his absence. These individuals comprised a part of his life, a testament to his existence. In the days when he wasn’t present, would anyone care? Would anyone take notice? Would anyone remember? Always remember.
Cheng Ke extended his hand and lightly scratched Jiang Yuduo’s shoulder, causing him to turn his head.
“They must have been worried sick,” Cheng Ke smiled. “They were anxious for your return.”
“Yes,” Jiang Yuduo concurred with a smile.
“You’re still San-ge,” Cheng Ke stated. “They’re still your little brothers, and Chen Qing is still your best friend.”
“And you?” Jiang Yuduo asked with a grin.
“I’m your genuine boyfriend,” Cheng Ke whispered.
“You’re mine too…” Jiang Yuduo glanced at Chen Qing. “My real boyfriend.”
After Chen Qing concluded the phone call, he cleared his throat before turning around.
Cheng Ke felt a bit helpless regarding his thoughtful and considerate behavior, so he took a seat on the sofa and let out a sigh.
“Da Bin is with Er Tu and the others, and they’ll be here shortly,” Chen Qing explained, “We’ll squeeze into one car later, with three in the back lying down.”
“Can you manage lying down?” Jiang Yuduo inquired.
“If we have to, we’ll manage. We must get in the car,” Chen Qing insisted.
“I’ll drive,” Jiang Yuduo promptly offered.
“You two can sit in the front,” Chen Qing suggested, “Can you both fit in the back?”
Jiang Yuduo smiled.
“San-ge,” Chen Qing addressed him, “I’m telling you, next time you want to return to your hometown, you better let me know; we’re more than just friends.”
“Yes,” Jiang Yuduo agreed.
Da Bin and the others must have been nearby, as within ten minutes of Chen Qing’s phone call, they could hear their excited voices outside the window.
“Let’s go,” Jiang Yuduo stood up.
Although Da Bin and the others were not as close as family, they were clearly more reserved upon seeing Jiang Yuduo and didn’t shout.
“San-ge,” Da Bin approached and scratched his head, “We’ve missed you.”
“Let’s grab a bite,” Jiang Yuduo patted him on the shoulder.
Once everyone had squeezed into the car, Jiang Yuduo turned to glance at an intersection, where a shadow had quickly vanished around the corner.
“What’s up?” Cheng Ke asked in a hushed tone.
At times, Jiang Yuduo felt that Cheng Ke was more perceptive than him, so he shook his head and replied, “It’s nothing, maybe just a hallucination. Dr. Li mentioned I might experience such things when returning to my hometown.”
“Ah, yes,” Cheng Ke said, “I also looked over there. Are they still there?”
“They’ve disappeared,” Jiang Yuduo remarked.
“They’re probably intimidated by you,” Cheng Ke suggested.
“Perhaps,” Jiang Yuduo smiled, then opened the car door, sat in the driver’s seat, gripped the steering wheel, and glanced at the rearview mirror.
This time, there was no one in sight.
“Is everything okay?” he asked.
“Fine,” Er Tu replied from the back, “San-ge, please drive a bit faster. This position is becoming unbearable.”
“Alright,” Jiang Yuduo replied as he started the car.
