ATISIUP Chapter 13

Lin Huanyan watched as the man, holding the clothes, entered her bathroom again, then lowered her head to continue reviewing Professor Andrei’s information.

Andrei had provided three methods for handling the mental energy attached to the wound that Lin Huanyan mentioned.

The first method was for the injured person to use their own mental energy to fight off the energy attached to the wound, gradually healing the injury. The drawback was that the person’s mental energy had to be in a completely stable state, and the effect would be slow.

The second method involved the Federation’s medical pod company, which owned the only medical pod in the galaxy capable of repairing mental energy injuries. However, only those with connections within the Federation could use it, and as they were from a rival empire, it would be out of reach for them.

The final method was the Empire’s top medical expert, Lu Xi, who possessed an extremely rare high-level healing ability that could treat certain mental energy ailments.

Lin Huanyan had originally planned to see the treatment through, but the situation was turning out to be more complicated than expected.

Just as she was thinking, the bathroom door opened with a “creak.”

Lin Huanyan looked up at the sound and saw the man’s feet first. He wore black military boots, and his strong legs were encased in military pants.

His upper body was dressed in a well-tailored military uniform, silver shoulder epaulets, silver buttons, and tassels adorned it, while a black leather belt highlighted his slim waist.

With his somewhat rogue appearance, he looked like a gangster military officer straight out of the Republic of China era.

As the military officer approached her, Lin Huanyan couldn’t help but think of something else.

“Quickly take off your belt, and open up your clothes so I can take a look,” she said, urging him seriously.

Gu Yinchen, looking at her with that serious expression, almost couldn’t hold back his smile.

Though he knew Lin Huanyan didn’t mean anything inappropriate, her words sounded too forward.

Gu Yinchen decided to tease her, putting on a troubled expression, “I just put the clothes on, and now you want me to take them off? Isn’t that a bit too much?”

His eyes, once mischievous, now assumed an innocent look effortlessly.

Lin Huanyan interpreted this as: “If you wanted to see my body, you could have done it earlier. Why make me wear it first and then ask me to take it off again? Do you have some special fetish?”

The image of a girl bullying a man was firmly established.

And this girl was Lin Huanyan, who froze for a moment, not understanding why it was suddenly so awkward. She just wanted to check his abdominal injury, why was he acting so shy?

Wait, no. What did I just say? “Take it off… open it… let me see.”

These were all inappropriate words, and they came out of my mouth!

Lin Huanyan panicked and quickly explained, “Hey, I didn’t mean it like that, don’t misunderstand! I just want to see your wound so I can figure out how to treat it.”

Gu Yinchen, seeing her flustered explanation, knew he shouldn’t push her too hard. He immediately played along.

“No worries, I didn’t misunderstand. You’re just so concerned about me.”

Saying that, he obediently moved his hand to his waist, unbuckled his belt in a few swift motions, then loosened his pants waist and pulled out the shirt tucked inside.

The bedroom was bathed in warm, yellow light. Lin Huanyan sat on the bed waiting, while the handsome man faced her, loosening his clothes. It made for a hazy, ambiguous scene.

Gu Yinchen’s long fingers worked quickly, unbuttoning the shirt’s hem, then lifting it up to show Lin Huanyan.

Lin Huanyan was startled by his swift movements and found herself face-to-face with his abdominal muscles. She quickly leaned back.

“Don’t stand so close, step back a bit. I can see fine from here.”

The man obediently took a step back. Lin Huanyan, although feeling the atmosphere was a bit off, didn’t think too much about it. After all, she had never been in a relationship and wasn’t very sensitive to such things.

So, she didn’t feel anything strange about examining a man’s waist and abdomen.

As for Gu Yinchen? He was more than happy to have it this way, and he didn’t remind her.

Thus, he allowed the girl to carefully examine his wound, his gaze soft as he looked at the top of her head.

Lin Huanyan focused on the wound, which was about the size of a bowl. Because it had been submerged in water, the edges had turned whitish, and she could see the red flesh inside.

She could faintly sense the mental energy attached to the wound.

After the check, Lin Huanyan asked about the man’s plans. Ever since she had saved him, things had been in chaos, with all sorts of situations occurring.

She hadn’t even had the chance to ask about his background yet.

“So, what’s your plan? I can’t treat your wound. I consulted a medical professor, and there are three treatments for this kind of injury: one is to fight off the attached mental energy by yourself, the second is the Federation’s mental energy medical pod, and the third is the Empire’s Lu Xi, who can treat it.”

“Are you going home? I can help you contact the imperial army, or wait for your family to come pick you up.”

Gu Yinchen had already anticipated this situation. Lin Huanyan was cautious and wouldn’t casually leave a strange man here, but that wasn’t the outcome he was hoping for. Fortunately, he had already thought of a plan.

“Can’t I stay here?”

A pair of eyes, as sparkling as starlight, stared intently at Lin Huanyan, the corners of the eyes reddening, as if they might cry any moment.

Lin Huanyan had never encountered this kind of situation before. She had seen many boys with various personalities, but none like this.

She had no defense against a boy’s tears and could only awkwardly say, “If you stay here, your family will worry.”

But then, she saw the man’s eyes, which had been bright as stars, instantly dimming.

“I don’t have any family left, and I have nowhere to go. Ever since my dad married my stepmother, no one has cared about me. This injury was also caused by her.”

So he’s a pitiful child after all! Lin Huanyan felt even more reluctant to refuse him. Seeing how pitiful he was, she could only reluctantly agree.

“Then you can stay here for now. There’s an empty room next door. Once your injury heals, we’ll talk about it.”

She then led Gu Yinchen to the assistant’s room next door.

“What’s your mental power level? Is it stable?”

Gu Yinchen was caught off guard by the question. He hesitated for a moment before answering, “It’s 2S level, but I was being chased, and I overused my mental power. It’s currently in a state of exhaustion.”

Lin Huanyan blinked in disappointment. “Alright then. You should focus on protecting your wound. You don’t need to wear such tight clothes; they’ll rub against the injury. I’ll see if I can find something to bandage it for you later.”

“Take it easy for these few days. Once your mental power recovers, we can slowly repair the wound.”

That night, after a long day, Lin Huanyan wasn’t kept awake by the presence of a stranger. Instead, she fell asleep the moment her head hit the pillow.

Next door, Gu Yinchen opened his eyes in the darkness. The gentleness he had intentionally put on in the daytime was gone, replaced by a cold, domineering look that suited his narrow eyes.

He quietly got up from bed, silently making his way to the next room without alerting the house’s robot assistants.

The girl was sound asleep, her face calm and peaceful, her body slightly rising and falling under the blanket.

Gu Yinchen stared at her for a while before leaving. He had already noticed that the defense system in the laboratory was too weak to stop him. He knew that most labs had similar defenses, but he felt this one was particularly inadequate.

So, taking advantage of the deep night, he went to the control room and gave the defense system a full upgrade.

The next morning, Lin Huanyan reluctantly woke up to the robot’s call.

After freshening up, she went to punch in at the lab.

When she returned, the man was already up, feeding two baby snow beasts in the living room.

He gently lowered his head, holding a special bottle. The little snow beasts, with their small, puffy mouths, eagerly sucked on the bottle, drinking eagerly. Soon, their little bellies were swollen.

Just as Lin Huanyan was about to call out to him, she suddenly realized that she hadn’t even asked his name.

“Hello, I was in such a hurry yesterday that I forgot to ask your name. Would you mind telling me?”

The man put down what he was holding, looked up, and answered.

“My name is Gu Chen, Gu from the word ‘return,’ and Chen from the word ‘morning light.’ You can call me Achen. What’s your name? Is it okay to tell me?”

“My name is Lin Huanyan, Lin from the word ‘wood,’ and Huanyan from the word ‘joyful colors.’ I’m a researcher here, mainly focusing on black hole material research.”

“Can I call you Yanyan?” Gu Yinchen looked at her softly.

His low, melodious voice gently called her name, and Lin Huanyan felt as if a cool breeze swept through her heart.

She thought to herself that now she understood why people were so fascinated by soothing voices. This damn voice could melt your heart.

So, the once iron-willed Lin Huanyan, who was only ever called “Huanzi” by her friends, found herself helplessly succumb to this somewhat affectionate nickname.

“Yanyan,” the man chuckled softly. “Your name is really beautiful.”

Lin Huanyan dared not look at him, awkwardly turning her head to respond.

“Oh… it’s okay, your name is also nice.”

Gu Yinchen, who casually gave himself a fake name to pursue the girl, was not at all flustered.

“I think my name sounds good too, but I prefer you calling me Achen (Chen).”

Not used to receiving compliments, Lin Huanyan responded calmly.

“Then I’ll call you Achen from now on.”

“Well, Achen, I’m going to work now. If you’re bored, you can browse the StarNet, or if you like the snow beast babies, you can play with them.”

“Don’t worry, I’ll find something to do. After feeding the snow beasts, I’ll go clean up the wreckage of the flying ship that fell outside.”

“Alright, as long as you have something to do, that’s fine. I’ll go ahead. If you need anything, just have the robot come find me.”
