BFWGSW Chapter 7

Yongxin Junior High School

Everyone who saw that the head I was carrying on my shoulder could actually blink and move, immediately moved away from me by a meter’s distance on entering the room and closing the door.

“The dormitory is safe. You can temporarily ignore some of the rules here. It’s regarded as the only safe zone for students… If we hadn’t recognized you as a freshman from Year 2, Class 6, we really wouldn’t have dared to go near you… You look too freaky… You really don’t look like a person from our side of the world…” A few of the boys who had just calmed down, mustered up the courage to look at me. I ignored their words and threw the spine on someone’s bed, the blood stains smearing and dirtying the bed, and then waited for them to continue with their words.

“Ah! That’s my bed!” A boy in a black t-shirt exclaimed, but he didn’t dare to come over and could only wipe his tears in secret while crying in fear.

I looked at them curiously. Since they had brought me into this dormitory they must have something to say to me. What were these boys doing now, staring at me dry-eyed as if I was an animal in a zoo?

There are eight male students here. One of them came forward and plucked up the courage to talk to me, covering his mouth and resisting the intimidating pressure as he approached me. He asked a question that was of great interest to them all: “There are evil spirits inside the boys’ 404 dormitory. Every month a few people are chosen to go in and play games with the evil spirits inside, and not one of them came out. It’s the centre of the strange talk of the entire dormitory area.”

I snapped, “The Headmaster’s office is in there.”

They were shocked once again, none of them responding to what I had actually said.

The Dragon Country viewers watching the live broadcast were all speechless. Direct, to the point, scary, overwhelming, and she actually just said it!

【I think she’s more of a pugilist than a psychopath. She’s a real tiger, killing monsters on sight like a tank that crushes everything, and she casually tells this kind of stuff to classmates she’s never seen or spoken to before】

【You know she’s a pugilist and a psychopath, so don’t think about her motives like you would with a normal person.】

I found the same boy from Year 2, Class 6 who had given me the key from the crowd, took out the dormitory key from my hand and shook his hand, “You gave me the key; thank you.”

Everyone’s eyes went to the boy, and one of them wondered, “Xiao Ming, from where did you get the key?”

Xiao Ming was obviously a little scared, but gathered the courage to speak up, “I stole it from the dormitory because I wanted to get out of here, but then I stumbled upon the suspicion that the scary creature that knocks on the door every night might be coming out of 404.”

“As a result, the homeroom teacher started targeting me yesterday, and I was afraid that if I died, no one would get this key. I wanted to get out of here so badly, and when I saw how strong my new classmates were, I wanted to give it a try. We all know how many of the people we knew around us had already been eaten by the monster teachers. As long as there was hope, I wanted to try.”

Everyone expressed understanding, and I instantly fell into a fit of giggles.

“Do you also have a dormitory manager checking on the boys’ dormitory at night? Are the dormitory managers cannibals too?”

A few of the boys looked uncomfortable, “Not only is there a hostel manager who makes things difficult, but there’s also a monster roaming in the dormitory corridor at night. Even going outside to go to the toilet has a set time limit. It’s very different from the girls’ dormitory.”

“What else is different? Do you guys know something about the girls’ dorms? All I know is that there’s a random cannibalistic dormitory manager living there.”

I cherry picked what I had experienced, and as we all looked at the spine and living head collapsed on the bed, we couldn’t help but feel sympathy for the student.

“So all of our students who were taken away were made into food.”

“…And then given to the canteen.”

Some of them couldn’t help but vomit.

“The rules for the girls’ dorms don’t have a time limit for going to the bathroom at night. It’s just that, unlike the boys’ dorms, there has to be more than one person in the room they’re staying in, or else very scary things can happen.”

I was living alone and didn’t feel that anything horrible had happened, ah. I told the story of my experiences in the girls’ dormitory as well, and everyone stared at me in disbelief.

“Warrior, did you really not see anything? It’s impossible that nothing happened.”

I carefully recalled. It seemed that last night something had pawed at me while I was sleeping, but I slapped it against the wall. I was too sleepy at the time and I went back to sleep within a few seconds. Being mentally afflicted by hallucinations has made me durable to these kinds of things. I thought that thing was another one of my hallucinations… and it turned out to be a real thing…?

I didn’t want to listen to their continued wheedling and quickly asked, “Did you know that the headmaster had a son who later died?”

Everyone went quiet, and an eerie silence fell over the dormitory.

“Where did you hear that from?” The speaker was none other than a senior from the third year who didn’t want me to mention the names in the boys’ dormitory.

“There are rules in the boys’ dormitory. All we can tell you is that the boy committed suicide, but he is not dead.”

What’s the deal with killing yourself but not dying?

The senior with glasses was full of bitterness as he continued, ” All the third-year students knew about it. He committed suicide by jumping from the top floor of the school building, but ever since the school changed, with the emergence of all kinds of rules and the appearance of many monsters, his figure would often appear on the rooftop of the school building.”

“May I ask what his name is? Since it’s related to the Headmaster, do you guys think the Headmaster will show up if I mention his name and insult him like crazy on the school grounds?”

Several students grimaced when they heard my words.

“Don’t kid yourself. Even if you’re as strong as you are, you won’t be able to get rid of the Headmaster’s power… As long as you enter Yongxin Junior High School, everyone is at his mercy.”

It’s not that scary. I’ve killed several monsters and it’s just so-so.

I mulled it over a little and remembered the password to the computer in the faculty office on the ground floor. There must be some information about students and things about the school in it since it’s the faculty’s computer. I have to know the password to the computer. Everything in this school belongs to the Headmaster, so could the password be the Headmaster’s or his son’s birthday, even though it’s usually used by the faculty dean?

“You are not allowed to say his name, so you should at least know the birthday of that classmate.”

None of them could answer.

I grimaced and called them a bunch of losers, then asked an offhand question, “How did you all get into this school?”

Several students lowered their heads sadly. The red-haired boy got very angry when I said this and went on a rant about his parents being shit, telling me: “We were all sent in here by our own parents. At the slightest conflict that our crap parents couldn’t resolve, they blamed us for being at fault. Some of us just liked to play video games, and others were planning on going to college somewhere far away from home, but then we were all sent in here by our damn parents.”

“Qiang Zi, don’t say that. They’re our parents and family after all, it’s not nice,” the roommate next to the red haired boy consoled him, “Look on the bright side: if we just pretend to be the obedient students who have been successfully reformed, we’ll be able to get out of here.”

The red-haired boy got even more agitated, “Transformation? Didn’t you see that spine and head lying on the bed? I kind of get it.  All of us will eventually end up looking like that, becoming food in the teachers’ mouths. Those parents won’t come to save us, even if we die. They’ll slowly forget about us, and in the end they’ll still think that the teachers taught us well.”

“Have you ever seen the family of a student who had an accident come to the school to look for someone?”

The students in the room fell silent once again, and despair spread through the group once more.

At this point, the Dragon Country viewers were filled with heartache. They did not expect that the students who had always acted like puppets would actually have their own thoughts. It turned out that the usual expressionless look in the classroom was all an act. This was the place where the students could show their true character, in the safe rooms, where the rules were set.

【I feel like there’s a prototype for this Strange World. Isn’t it that school?】

After seeing the pop-up screen, Captain Li of the Dragon Country’s special operations team quickly organised personnel to investigate similar schools. He has, in fact, always had an idea from watching players play the game until now. The copies experienced by players from each country were all different, but there was a sense of vestigial vision to a greater or lesser extent. Could it be that these copies that were made could actually have real-life counterparts?

“Sending disobedient children to special schools has been in the news for a long, long time, and yet there are still parents who are willing to send their children there. I’m guessing that there is a prototype for this school… Investigate it with all your might to help our players.”

I looked at the pop-ups on my smartwatch. The ones on it that had been cursing me had now turned into compliments. The group of viewers were gradually attracted by everything in the Strange World, and those who were immersed in it hoped that I could help this group of students.

I didn’t feel much when I looked at it, because there are so many ways to fix this kind of situation in my opinion.

“Your loved ones sent you in here to suffer, so why don’t you figure out a way to trick them into coming in here and kill them?”

Upon hearing my suggestion and reply, a few of the underaged high school students took a step back. They knew that the teachers here were all monsters, but killing anyone, or a loved one, was something they couldn’t do.

I approached these students fiercely and taught them seriously, ” This is the way the world is. If you don’t get tough, then everyone will try their best to bully you, and the closest relatives are no exception. I’m going to kill all the monsters here and escape anyway. Give me all of the clues you guys have about this school, if you have any.”

“Telling us such a thing lightly, aren’t you afraid that one of us will betray you?”

I calmly replied, “It doesn’t matter. I’ll just kill them when I see them.”

The senior with glasses frowned and didn’t agree with my notion, “In fact, there are students who have started to resign themselves to the fact that they aren’t human beings, and have betrayed others willingly. When a student volunteers to be a teacher’s puppet, everything they carry out in accordance with the rules isn’t in their individual mind.”1Think “hive mentality” with a sprinkle of “possessed”

I still had the same reply, “I told you it didn’t matter, just kill them all.”

“How can you be like this? Killing monsters is fine, but you even want to kill people! Don’t you have any humanity at all?” Another student wearing headphones actually started to lecture me.

It’s so annoying, “I’m just trying to get out of here. It’s none of my business what you think. If a bunch of NPC’s don’t want to die, they should just get down to business and do their job. Don’t give me a hard time. I don’t care if you kill people or monsters. You guys don’t even dare to rebel against your parents, so what qualifications do you have to talk shit about me?”

A few were so upset that they wanted to shed tears, “It’s not as easy as you make it sound. We’re all ordinary students, and you don’t understand everyone’s family situation, so what are you talking about? It’s not like everyone is as strong as you are, and you should always be psychologically prepared when you suddenly cut off your relationship with your parents.”

I rolled my eyes and thought about it. I’d better not put words in their mouths. This group of students had been betrayed by someone close to them, but they still retained the innocence that teenagers should have in their hearts, and to be honest, I didn’t dislike it.

“It’s not too late to resist, so tonight you’ll pretend that you didn’t see me. If there are any suspicious clues, please notify me immediately. I promise to kill the Headmaster and set everyone free. I’ve already killed the dormitory manager in the girls’ dormitory. I’ll take care of your dormitory manager in the boys’ dormitory now. That way all of you guys can have a safer time in the dormitory area as well.”

A few of the boys looked at me, and I looked at them. They hesitated for a few seconds, but since I was able to subdue even a dorm 404 demon, the boys chose to trust me for once.

“We will. We won’t say anything if anyone comes to ask us after you get out of the dormitory, and we’ll let you know if there’s a lead related to the Headmaster’s office.”

Translator’s Note: I’m so sleep-deprived that my brain has to gaslight my body into thinking that we’re actually really energised… Why does studying suck the life out of you? ಥ_ಥ
