This year was the fourth year that Fu Jinxiao and Shen Xingsui have been married.

The couple’s personal relationship was very happy, smooth, and fairly stable. Currently, Fu Jinxiao has one problem though – this morning, he wanted to be intimate with Shen Xingsui, but was rejected without much explanation. 

Although Shen Xingsui later explained that he and his friends had business to discuss and could not accompany him, Fu Jinxiao still felt frustrated. The ex-actor Fu never doubted his own charm, but after experiencing setbacks, a bud of doubt started to sprout.

“Which friend?” 

Shen Xingsui: “Huh?”

“Which friend makes you have no time to kiss me?” Fu Jinxiao squinted his eyes: “Is it that urgent?”

Shen Xingsui said helplessly, “It’s just friends at work, don’t think too much about it.”

Because of this sentence, Fu Jinxiao sulked the whole day.

In the end, when he was really overwhelmed with anger, he found Shen Minglang, Shen Xingsui’s eldest brother and his good friend. In front of Shen Minglang, he shed his usual noble pretenses, and seeked his advice with good wine as a payment.

Fu Jinxiao said without hesitation, “I think he has changed a bit.”

Shen Minglang took a sip of his wine and replied casually, “This is your delusion.” 

“Did my charm fade?” The ex-actor also took a sip, feeling a little puzzled. “I’m only in my thirties. Logically speaking, my appearance hasn’t changed too much.”

Shen Minglang still remembered that this was the good friend that took his dearest Suisui back then. In this life, Fu Jinxiao has hardly suffered any setbacks, so perhaps, this was inevitable.

He thought of it as a form of belated revenge, though. 

Shen Minglang opened his lips and said, “After thirty, people will age very quickly.”

“……”

This simple sentence was a fatal blow to Fu Jinxiao.

The ex-actor sighed deeply. Although he knew that this sentence was purposefully aimed to stab him, he still couldn’t control his shortness of breath. Even though he didn’t want to admit it, he still cared a little bit.

Shen Minglang glanced at him and said, “It’s probably something trivial anyways, maybe you’re just overthinking?” 

Fu Jinxiao immediately retorted, “It’s not just because of this incident.”

“What else?”

“He’s always on the phone with others recently. He didn’t shy away from me before, but now he does. He obviously doesn’t have any urgent jobs recently, but he was outside all day long. Whenever he’s home, he’s busy in the music room. Before, he would at least tell me if something’s urgent made him unable to go home.” Fu Jinxiao’s voice was unhurried. There was a mix of happiness and anger in his tone, but overall, it was clearly a complaint. 

In recent years, the Movie Emperor has faded out of the entertainment industry and entered the business circle instead. He has a strong ability to learn everything. When he took over his family’ company, he wasn’t so favored by the old coots sitting on the shareholders’ chairs. But after years of patient grinding and maneuvering, it baptized him until he’s mature and experienced in this field. 

There’s only one Achilles’ heels–

His feelings.

When he’s facing a problem with his lover, he is always clueless and unsure. 

Fu Jinxiao drank his glass of red wine until it’s empty. “He has grown up, and there’s times when I can’t see through him.”

Shen Minglang glanced at him. “You suspect that Suisui cheated?”

Fu Jinxiao paused when he heard this, and said with pursed lips, “No, that’s not it. After all, with a jewel like me in front of him, if he can still fancy others, he should go see an ophthalmologist for an eye check-up.” 

Shen Minglang snorted lightly. “Narcissist.” 

As long-time friends, even if Fu Jinxiao doesn’t open his mouth, Shen Minglang could tell that Fu Jinxiao was actually quite flustered. Not because he wasn’t confident, but because he loved Shen Xingsui too much that he’s blinded by it. It’s just that he’s an old fox who had strict control of his expression, so he didn’t show it outward whenever he was in a mess. 

“Although I didn’t watch Suisui growing up, I can assure you that he won’t do anything unfaithful,” Shen Minglang said in a low voice, “Maybe he’s just been busy recently. And let’s be real here; even though you’re getting older, your appearance doesn’t deteriorate at all. At the very least, you can be assured of your face.” 

Fu Jinxiao smiled and said, “I’m also troubled by the fact that I don’t look old. Don’t envy me, this brother-in-law of yours is just one of a kind.” 

Shen Minglang: “…”

Although their conversation was superficial, it was enough to make Fu Jinxiao feel more reassured than before. He really thought that it was really just his paranoia speaking. 

He thought about it more – sure, Shen Xingsui refused that morning sex, but the night before, he was quite enthusiastic. Not only that, he came back early and took the initiative to make him dinner. And on the bed, he was still very passionate. 

With this in mind, Fu Jinxiao’s suspicion completely dissipated.

Next morning, Shen Xingsui said to him, “I may be a little too tired recently. After this, I will decline all gigs offers and adjust my holidays. Then, we will have extra free time.” 

Fu Jinxiao lazily replied, “Mn. Don’t overwork yourself.” 

Shen Xingsui came over with a smile and kissed him.

This was their daily chat after they got married. Fu Jinxiao was in a good mood, and could completely put aside the previous problems and returned to work in the company.  

However, his good mood did not last long.

The secretary held the tablet sadly and said, “President Fu.”

Fu Jinxiao sat on the chair and asked, “What’s wrong?”

“There is some bad news…”

Fu Jinxiao raised his eyebrows.

The tablet was opened in front of him, and the hot social news emblazoned on the screen hurted his eyes. It was Shen Xingsui’s scandal. In the video, Shen Xingsui went in and out of a private hotel wearing a mask. He went in at noon and got out at night. After this video was uploaded, there was an official response saying that Shen Xingsui was just visiting his friend. 

The thing is—

That day, Shen Xingsui told him that he was in the music room all day. 

Although the person in the video was wearing a mask and coat, Fu Jinxiao was very sure that this person is Shen Xingsui. He was his lover, he could recognize him even if he blended into the crowd. 

The secretary said hesitantly, “I’m telling you this because of your previous order, saying that I need to pay attention about Mr. Shen and report it to you as soon as something happens, so I…” 

He trailed off, seemingly scared to continue. 

The man sitting on the chair had a stern expression on his face. Fu Jinxiao’s gaze was fixed on the tablet and it looked seemingly calm. But deep inside, there was a storm brewing. 

Then, Fu Jinxiao picked up his mobile phone and dialed a number. On the other end was Shen Xingsui’s voice saying, “Hello, husband?”

“Mn,” Fu Jinxiao looked at the content on the tablet and said, “What’s the matter with today’s news? Is it a scandal? Do you want me to use some connections to suppress it?”

Shen Xingsui quickly said, “It’s a scandal. I went to a friend’s private room to talk about something that day, but I was photographed by a paparazzi .”

Fu Jinxiao simply replied, “Be careful next time. I’ll make sure this won’t affect you, so you can leave it alone. I will contact Wang-jie to help you deal with it. Don’t be too tired in the music room, come back early at night.”

Shen Xingsui smiled and said, “Okay.”

When the phone hung up, the last trace of smile disappeared from Fu Jinxiao’s eyes.

The secretary asked, “President, do you want to check?”

After all, nobody liked when their lover gave them the green hat. The secretary really didn’t understand; his boss was young, promising, with a one-of-a-kind appearance. Normally, there were countless people vying for his attention. 

‘So, why does the boss’ wife treat him like this?’ 

“No need,” Fu Jinxiao asked him to leave directly. He opened the document and prepared to continue reviewing it. “Go down.”

The secretary was taken aback, but could only say, “Yes.”

“Stop.”

Before the secretary could leave, Fu Jinxiao still have something to tell him. “No need to check, Wang Meican has announced his latest itinerary. You can look at the details yourself. If he goes outside his itinerary and goes to the hotel to discuss something with his friends, let me know.”

The secretary replied, “Understood.”

Everyone thought that after this incident, Shen Xingsui would restrain himself somewhat.

But unexpectedly, within two days, Shen Xingsui said he was in the music room, but he actually went into that previous room in the hotel. 

The secretary could feel the boss’s scary pressure emitted from his body. He became flustered. 

When getting on the elevator, Fu Jinxiao didn’t say a word, and the secretary didn’t dare to say anything. He just thought about how to persuade the two couples not to cause trouble. Still, they used to have such a good relationship. What a pity it would end like this… 

As he got to the door, Fu Jinxiao called Shen Xingsui. He immediately asked, “Where are you?”

Shen Xingsui answered hurriedly. His breath was unsteady, even sounded a little winded. “I, I have something to do with my friend, and I may go back later today.”

The last trace of smile in Fu Jinxiao’s eyes also disappeared.

After hanging up the phone, the secretary said timidly, “I’m sure it’s here.”

For the secretary, it was his first time seeing such a scary Fu Jinxiao in his life. His expression was almost livid, like Lord Yan. Looking at it made his knees feel weak, and his throat closed up. 

“Click.”

The universal card of the hotel was in Fu Jinxiao’s hand. As he swung the door open, he was greeted by a loud noise. 

The people in the room were stunned, and so were the people standing at the door.

“You…”

“You…”

The words that Shen Xingsui and Fu Jinxiao spoke at the same time stuck in their throats, and Shen Xingsui, who was still blowing up the balloon, asked, “Why are you here? Who leaked the news?” 

Shen Xingchen, who was hanging the banner behind, complained, “Hey, why do you look at me when accusing someone of leaking! I’m not the one who did it!” 

Shen Minglang pushed his glasses. “I can testify to his claim. Also, it’s not me either.” 

Xu Enzhen was still setting up the dining table inside, and was stunned when she found Fu Jinxiao. “Oh? Jinxiao, why are you here? Isn’t your birthday the day after tomorrow? We haven’t set it up yet!”

“…”

Fu Jinxiao fell into a brief silence.

In the end, Mr. Fu, the famous ex-actor-turned-President, could only clam up in front of his in-laws. He showed a rare embarrassed, but polite smile on his face. Using his superb acting skill, he immediately made a script he played with his secretary. “Did you lead me the wrong way?”

The secretary didn’t expect to become his boss’ co-actor. 

“The client I want to see is not in this room, it seems,” Fu Jinxiao’s acting skills were still golden. He turned his face and smiled at the people in the room, “I’m sorry to bother you, we still have something to do, so I’ll go first.”

“Slam.” 

The door was shut swiftly, and the room returned to calm.

Shen Xingsui was stunned as he sat on the sofa. Still a little confused, he turned his suspicion to his older brothers. “What’s wrong with him?”

“Who knows?” Shen Minglang pushed his glasses and smiled, “Maybe it’s because he was in a hurry to see a client and went to the wrong room. After all, there are always many coincidences in this world.”

Shen Xingsui nodded slowly. “That’s quite the coincidence.”

Today, is indeed, just another happy day.
