YPWW Chapter 10

After a long silence, Gu Zhifei finally spoke, cautiously testing the waters: “Should we find a place with no one around and talk this through?”

Luo Yu pursed his lips, clearly reluctant, but eventually gave a begrudging nod.

However, Jiang Yang wasn’t ready to let things go just yet. “Why do you need to find a secluded place to talk? Is there something shady going on?”

“I mean, if you want to come, I won’t stop you,” Gu Zhifei responded calmly, which immediately set off Luo Yu.

“It’s none of his damn business!”

Gu Zhifei had to placate him. “Look, I’m trying to chase after him. Keeping things hidden will just lead to misunderstandings.”

Luo Yu’s eyes lit up. “I knew it! So you two aren’t together yet, right?”

Jiang Yang hesitated. “You’re… chasing me?”

Gu Zhifei rubbed his temples, feeling a headache coming on. “Could you guys let me answer one question at a time, please?”

“Then answer me first,” Luo Yu demanded. “You’re not together yet, right?”

Jiang Yang, sensing that now wasn’t the time to back down, countered, “If you’re chasing me, I should be your priority, shouldn’t I?”

He and Luo Yu locked eyes, a silent challenge passing between them.

Gu Zhifei sighed deeply, realizing that things were becoming complicated.

Fortunately, Jiang Yang wasn’t one to make things more difficult for him. “Arguing here is too embarrassing. Let’s go somewhere private to talk.”

Gu Zhifei was about to agree when Jiang Yang suddenly stepped forward, hoisted Gu Zhifei over his shoulder, and bolted!

Gu Zhifei: “!”

Luo Yu: “F**k you!”

“Woof!”

Jiang Yang ran like the wind, and Gu Zhifei could only watch helplessly as Luo Yu and the bald-tailed dog shrank into two tiny dots on the horizon, not even having the chance to shout for help.

By the time Jiang Yang threw Gu Zhifei onto the bed at a nearby hotel, Gu Zhifei was so dizzy he could barely hold back the urge to vomit. And yet, Jiang Yang, sitting at the edge of the bed and panting, didn’t even think to fetch him a glass of water.

Gu Zhifei grabbed a pillow from the bed and threw it at Jiang Yang. “You beast! Water!”

Jiang Yang poured him a glass but didn’t hand it over right away. Instead, he looked down at Gu Zhifei with an unexpected intensity. “First, promise me you won’t mess with me again.”

Still reeling from being tossed around, Gu Zhifei made a dry gagging sound.

Jiang Yang’s expression softened for a moment, but then Gu Zhifei’s next words made him stiffen again.

“I still feel like throwing up… Could I be pregnant?” Gu Zhifei muttered, touching his stomach. “Big Jiangzi, this is your doing, so you’ve got to take responsibility.”

Jiang Yang: “…”

He calmly pulled the cup away. “I don’t think you need this water anymore.”

Gu Zhifei: “…”

Jiang Yang hesitated for a moment before finally opening his mouth. But before he could speak, Gu Zhifei raised his hand. “Yes, you’re right. I like you.”

Jiang Yang: “!”

He tried to maintain a composed expression, but before he could respond, Gu Zhifei lunged forward, wrapping his arms around Jiang Yang’s waist, and with a pitiful tone, began to confess. “I know I talk too much, and I can be annoying and playful, but don’t you feel how sincere I am? It’s the first time I’ve ever liked someone, the first time I’ve ever pursued anyone, and yet you can’t sense any of that. Do you know how heartbroken I am?”

As Gu Zhifei’s shoulders started to shake, looking utterly pitiful, Jiang Yang’s anger deflated like a popped balloon.

He hesitantly wrapped his arms around Gu Zhifei and softly asked, “So when you pulled down my zipper and then walked away, you weren’t just messing with me?”

Gu Zhifei clung tighter to him. “Of course not! That was my way of confessing!”

Jiang Yang, still uncertain, said, “After you left, I was almost caught by a couple who came to the lake. If I hadn’t fixed my clothes in time…”

In truth, Gu Zhifei had only run off because he heard someone approaching, but there was no way he’d admit that now.

Thinking quickly, he leaned up and planted a kiss on Jiang Yang’s lips, squeezing out a few crocodile tears. “I was scared you’d find me disgusting. I regretted it the moment I touched you. Jiang Yang, I’m gay. If you can’t accept that, then we shouldn’t see each other anymore.”

Jiang Yang panicked. “How could I possibly think that about you?” He questioned Gu Zhifei, “Are you really planning to avoid me from now on? I won’t allow it.”

Gu Zhifei rolled to the side, grabbing a pillow to cover his face, leaving only one eye visible. He was trying hard to hide the grin threatening to spread across his face. “But I’m gay. I want to sleep with you. Doesn’t that disgust you?”

Jiang Yang hesitated, about to answer, but then he noticed the playful glint in Gu Zhifei’s eye.

He pieced together all of Gu Zhifei’s actions and remarks, and suddenly, something clicked. Maintaining his composure, Jiang Yang casually replied, “Didn’t you give me all that ‘study material’? I know how it works. If lying down and letting you… you know… is the only way we can stay friends, I can do it.”

Gu Zhifei was momentarily speechless, taken aback by the response. After a beat, he cautiously asked, “What if I don’t want it to happen just once?”

Jiang Yang smiled. “That’s fine too.”

Gu Zhifei blinked in surprise. “What if it’s not just two or three times? What if I want it to last a lifetime?”

Jiang Yang’s smile widened. “That’s fine.”

As he spoke, Jiang Yang opened the bedside drawer and pulled out a packet of condoms. “If you don’t believe me, I can show you my commitment right now.”

Gu Zhifei fell into deep thought. If I go through with this, I could secure a future of consistent intimacy.

With newfound confidence, Gu Zhifei nodded. “Alright, then. I promise I won’t hurt you.”
