Jiang Yang snapped back to reality and flashed a bright, cheerful smile. “No need. He was just joking with me.” Smoothly shifting the topic, he asked, “So, what brings you here?”
Shen Xin noticed that while Jiang Yang was speaking to her, his gaze kept flickering toward the dorm building. She understood the situation and decided to keep it short. “It’s nothing. My boyfriend was giving you a hard time, so I just wanted to apologize for that.”
Jiang Yang smiled. “It was all just a misunderstanding. I’ve already forgotten about it.”
Shen Xin nodded.
Jiang Yang, unsure what else to say, instinctively glanced toward Gu Zhifei’s dorm window again.
Shen Xin chuckled. “You should go after him. I’ve got things to do too. See you later.”
“Oh.” Jiang Yang waved and, without hesitation, sprinted into the dorm building.
Shen Xin giggled. “Silly.”
When Jiang Yang rushed upstairs, he found the dorm door slightly ajar. He pushed it open and saw that the bathroom had already been cleaned up.
“Who is it?” Gu Zhifei’s voice came from the bed, followed by the rustling sound of him getting up.
“It’s Jiang Yang.”
After another rustle of movement, Gu Zhifei heard Jiang Yang’s voice, but instead of getting up, he lay back down.
Jiang Yang walked in and saw a lump under the covers on Gu Zhifei’s bed—Gu Zhifei had cocooned himself entirely, hiding his head and all, like a silkworm in a chrysalis, pretending to be a baby silkworm.
“Are you tired?” Jiang Yang asked softly.
Gu Zhifei’s voice was lazy. “No. I just like lying in bed when there’s nothing to do. Why did you come up?”
Jiang Yang hesitated for a moment. “What did you mean by what you said earlier?”
Gu Zhifei turned his head, facing Jiang Yang’s direction, his eyes peeking out from the dark cocoon of the blanket. “What did I say?”
Jiang Yang wasn’t pleased. “I was being serious when I asked you.”
“Oh,” Gu Zhifei replied, seemingly enlightened. “I was being serious when I answered you.”
Jiang Yang walked over to the bed and locked eyes with Gu Zhifei.
Gu Zhifei, like a real silkworm, slowly wriggled out of the blanket, inching his way out of the cocoon. When he finally revealed his head, he managed to free one arm as well.
It was only then that Jiang Yang realized why Gu Zhifei had wrapped himself so tightly—
Seeing Gu Zhifei’s pale, bare arm and half of his smooth, exposed shoulder made Jiang Yang’s breath catch.
Gu Zhifei used his long, slender fingers to flick Jiang Yang’s forehead, leaving a noticeable red mark. But instead of feeling pain, Jiang Yang felt a tingly, warm sensation.
“Idiot.” Gu Zhifei couldn’t resist flicking him a few more times, amused by Jiang Yang’s dumbfounded expression. “Didn’t I already tell you what I meant?”
Jiang Yang, still holding Gu Zhifei’s hand, mumbled, “Aren’t you cold?”
Gu Zhifei smirked. “Not really. Why don’t you get in here with me and see for yourself?”
Jiang Yang’s face flushed with heat.
Just then, a breeze blew in through the window, causing goosebumps to rise on Gu Zhifei’s arm. He quickly pulled his arm back under the covers.
Jiang Yang’s gaze awkwardly followed Gu Zhifei’s movements. Once the pale skin was fully covered, Jiang Yang reluctantly averted his eyes and, regaining his composure, asked, “You said earlier that you’d already told me. What did you mean by that?”
Gu Zhifei replied casually, “What do you think?”
Growing frustrated, Jiang Yang pressed on. “I don’t understand. When you said what you did in front of Shen Xin, it wasn’t just a joke, was it?”
Gu Zhifei gave a noncommittal hum.
Jiang Yang frowned. “Then why can’t you just tell me directly?”
“I can’t,” Gu Zhifei said seriously. “Either you figure it out yourself, or… you can obediently lie down and let me take the lead.”
Jiang Yang muttered softly, “Aren’t you just avoiding the question? I’ve been meaning to ask—how exactly does one ‘take the lead’ with another guy?”
Gu Zhifei studied Jiang Yang’s earnest expression for a moment, then said thoughtfully, “If you’re truly confused, I suppose I could give you a lesson.”
Jiang Yang: “?”
Gu Zhifei tossed him a USB drive. “Here, this is your study material. Watch all of it and come to me if you have any questions.”
A week later, Jiang Yang returned the USB, looking dazed and unsettled. Gu Zhifei, calm as ever, casually asked how the studying went. After thinking hard for a moment, Jiang Yang timidly asked, “No matter how I think about it, there’s no way both of those could fit, right?” His face turned pale just recalling certain scenes. “Isn’t it just camera angles? Otherwise, wouldn’t someone die?”
Gu Zhifei’s expression was dead serious, as if discussing a scholarly topic. “If you doubt the elasticity of the sphincter, you can always try it out yourself.” He rolled up his sleeves. “Or, if it’s too difficult alone, I can help you.”
“No, no, that won’t be necessary!” Jiang Yang stammered in panic.
That night, Jiang Yang silently doubled his workout routine. Perhaps he finally realized the kind of danger he was in.
A few days later, Jiang Yang invited Gu Zhifei to play basketball with him. Gu Zhifei politely declined, saying he’d rather watch. But on their way back to the dorm in the evening, Gu Zhifei acted as if he were a basketball expert, making numerous (questionable) high-level critiques.
Jiang Yang listened quietly, not arguing. Then, out of nowhere, he noticed a shadowy figure following them.
Just as he was about to say something, Gu Zhifei raised a finger, signaling him to stay quiet, and smoothly continued to the next topic.
“In high school, I had a junior who wasn’t very good at basketball and had a terrible temper. Luckily, he met me. After some of my expert coaching, he had a breakthrough and rose to greatness.”
He blatantly lied with a straight face, making the person trailing them tremble with rage.
Suddenly, Gu Zhifei shouted, “Xiao Jiangzi!”
“Woof!” Out of nowhere, the scruffy, bald-tailed dog came barreling toward them and sank its teeth into the shadow’s pants leg!
At the same time, Jiang Yang took a few large strides forward and pinned the shadowy figure to the ground!
“F**k you!” the figure cursed in a futile attempt to break free.
Gu Zhifei casually pulled out his phone, turned on the flashlight, and approached the figure. Shining the light on his face, Gu Zhifei recognized the pale, familiar expression. He calmly said, “Luo Yu, baby, you’d better have a good explanation for why you’re here when you’re supposed to be studying.”
Luo Yu cursed under his breath, but before he could say anything, his stomach let out a loud growl.
Gu Zhifei turned off the flashlight, crossed his arms, and looked at him.
Luo Yu, defeated, muttered, “Can we get something to eat first?”
Gu Zhifei nodded and turned to Jiang Yang. “Pull him up. We’re taking him to KFC, and don’t let go of his hand.”
But Jiang Yang didn’t move.
Gu Zhifei, puzzled, kicked him lightly. “What are you spacing out for?”
Jiang Yang stood there stiffly, not willing to comply.
Gu Zhifei kicked him again. Finally, Jiang Yang mumbled, “Why did you call him ‘baby’?”
