CWITAR Chapter 7

Capsize

1The title “翻船” (fān chuán) is a Chinese idiom that literally translates to “capsizing a boat.” Figuratively, it is used to describe a situation where something goes wrong unexpectedly, often leading to failure or a plan not working out as intended.

“The scummy ex came to cause trouble.”

“What nonsense! Who is your boyfriend2“男朋友” (nán péngyǒu) = Boyfriend.?” Qi Juan grabbed a pillow and threw it at Chi Yin.

In the midst of the abrupt movement, the wound on the knife cut opened again. He tightly pressed his hand against the injury on his stomach, and for a moment, his face turned deathly pale.

Chi Yin moved aside, skillfully avoiding the attack, and grinned, “Oh, why are you changing your attitude towards me so quickly? My dear Qi Juan, you weren’t like this with me before.” He bent down, picked up the soft pillow, patted off the dust, and placed it on the adjacent hospital bed while taking a seat.

Yu Yue Sheng had a serious expression, looking at Chi Yin and then at Qi Juan, finding it hard to believe, he said, “What did he just say? Your boyfriend3 “朋友” (péngyǒu) = Friend. In this case, it could be a male friend. ?”

Laoshi, don’t listen to his nonsense. We have dated, but we broke up a long time ago, really.” He thought of a lot of retorts, afraid that this idiotic system4

By using the term “傻逼系统” (“idiotic system”), Qi Juan is not literally referring to a technological or computer-based system but rather using it as a metaphor to criticize the insensitivity or lack of understanding shown by Yu Yue Sheng.might make another unpredictable judgment, adding insult to injury. Qi Juan had no choice but to swallow all the words that were about to come out of his mouth.

As he continued speaking, his body completely collapsed. The warm blood had already smeared a large portion of his arm, and his vision started to blur. He couldn’t help but bite his lip tightly.

“Qi Juan, don’t move around. Is it hurting badly?” Chi Yin stood up, gently rubbing his hair and said tenderly, “I ran into Chen Geou and the others on the way. When I heard you had a stomachache, I hurried over. You really worried me.”

“You wish I were dead, don’t you?” Qi Juan pushed away Chi Yin’s hand, his shoulders trembling violently, unsure if it was from pain or anger.

“If you say that, it really hurts me,” Chi Yin continued, taking advantage of the opportunity to say, “Look, I even specially brought candies and hot milk for you, all your favorite flavors.” As he spoke, he proudly took out the items one by one from his coat pockets.

Milk…

His mind went blank.

“Qi Juan?”

Visual and auditory sensations were both fading away, as if the unseen puppeteer from behind the scenes in a movie was wearing a heavy mask. The other person’s voice also sounded as if it had been processed with special effects, causing a buzzing sound in Qi Juan’s eardrums.

In the last scene that his slightly opened eyes captured, a doctor with a frown rushed in under the strong light. The following frame shook violently as if sinking into the depths of the sea, and then everything fell into silence.

When Qi Juan woke up, he only felt warmth in his arms. His subconscious reached out, and he opened his eyes.

In the sight’s reach was a plastic water cup with a light blue lid, but no one knew who had placed it there. As Qi Juan moved, the hot water inside swayed, making a sound like raindrops falling into a pond.

“Oh, finally awake?” Chi Yin sat next to Qi Juan, playing with his phone, and didn’t even lift his head when he heard the movement. It seemed like he still had a piece of gum in his mouth, chewing it away.

“Where’s Yu Yue Sheng?” Qi Juan asked.

“You mean your Laoshi?” Chi Yin lazily blew a bubble. “Pop,” the bubble burst. Chi Yin continued chewing his gum, curling up the corners of his mouth. “Why are you asking me? How should I know?”

Qi Juan struggled to sit up, enduring the pain, and grabbed Chi Yin’s collar tightly, exerting force, “Where is Yu Yue Sheng? What did you say to him?!”

Cough, cough, cough.“Chi Yin patted Qi Juan’s hand, holding his breath for a moment before saying, “It seems like the principal called him, and he left after answering the call.”

“Better be true,” Qi Juan finally let go of his hand.

Chi Yin twisted his neck uncomfortably and said, “What’s the big deal? Geez, if someone didn’t know any better, they’d think you liked him.”

“Why did you come to find me? Just to make me drink milk?” Qi Juan remembered what Chi Yin had said before and stared at him intently.

“I do want to see you drink it. How about you, will you drink?” Chi Yin asked intentionally.

“No, I won’t.”

Chi Yin knew that Qi Juan was lactose intolerant. When they were together, Chi Yin had often tried to feed him milk, wasabi, and other strange things that didn’t really harm the body but greatly affected one’s mood. They even recorded it as a video, titling it as “Pranking My Boyfriend” to attract attention online.

Qi Juan later found out as well, but he chose to overlook it, remembering how good Chi Yin had been to him initially, so he simply turned a blind eye to it.

He felt that he might get stomach cancer, not only because of his upbringing with irregular habits, erratic eating, and poor sleep since childhood but also a significant part was due to the foolish things he did when he was young, accompanying Chi Yin.

“Didn’t we agree to break up decisively? Now you want to get back together? Sorry, I’m not interested in getting back with you,” Qi Juan spoke up.

“That was because my mom found out, and she forced me to send that message. I’m here to find you now,” Chi Yin explained confidently.

Little did he know that the person in front of him had already been reborn once, knowing almost everything about what he would say and do next.

Qi Juan held the blanket close, his hand tucked inside as he quietly pressed down on his stomach and said lightly, “I understand.”

“I even skipped evening self-study, you know? Just to take the risk of being caught by the teacher and skip class to be with you. Before this, I even confessed to our homeroom teacher that we were together. Don’t you understand my feelings?” Chi Yin said.

“Did I ask you to do any of that? Everything is just what you imposed on me,” Qi Juan felt it was difficult to communicate with him.

Chi Yin hurriedly said, “Is your stomach hurting? Let me massage it for you.”

Chi Yin looked exactly the same as in his memories, with a round face and fair skin like it was kneaded from dough, giving the appearance of a cute younger brother from next door. But this was only the deceptive facade he put on to fool others.

Qi Juan avoided his hand, his face pale as he pressed on his stomach, his back slightly hunched, and he weakly said, “Even if it hurts to death, it has nothing to do with you. Chi Yin, listen carefully. I haven’t liked you for a long time, and I don’t want even the slightest bit of connection with you anymore. We’ve already broken up, so can you please stay away from me?”

“It’s not possible,” Chi Yin said.

Qi Juan furrowed his brow, “How can I get you to leave me alone?”

“It’s simple, just play with me again,” Chi Yin’s eyes curved as he smiled, his lips pursed. “When I’m happy and done playing, I won’t bother you anymore.”

“…”

In the previous life, Qi Juan didn’t know the truth. He thought there might still be a chance between them, so he reluctantly accompanied Chi Yin, even enduring the pain in his stomach while eating hot pot and drinking cold beverages with him.

In the end, he ran into Chi Yin taking his new girlfriend out for dinner and a movie. How could he not realize it’s time to give up?

In this life, he has already foreseen the outcome. He’s not the type to cling to a hopeless situation, nor is he someone who can endure getting the cold treatment after being kind. Why does this person still speak so shamelessly? How many lives does he have to accompany Chi Yin in his antics? He wonders, if Chi Yin knew that he would eventually die from stomach problems, how would he react? Would he feel even the slightest bit of guilt for what happened in the past?

“Who knows how long you want to keep playing?” Qi Juan said.

“I just can’t bear to part with you,” Chi Yin pouted, pretending to be aggrieved. “Well, if you don’t want the milk, forget it then.”

“Can you please stop mentioning those two words? It sounds quite disgusting,” Qi Juan said, picking up a paper cup from the bedside table and taking a few sips, swallowing the sour water that rose in his throat.

However, he suddenly felt a slight bitterness at the corners of his lips, and something came to his mind, making his scalp tingle.

This water doesn’t seem right.

Qi Juan lay back on the bed, propping himself up. He raised his thin eyelids and looked at Chi Yin, his voice unsteady as he asked, “What did you put in there?”

Chi Yin leaned closer, whispering softly in his ear, “It’s something girls use for weight loss. You’ll look even better if you become thinner.”

Qi Juan: “…”

He has always been on the slim side since childhood.

Qi Juan endured the stomach pain and stared coldly at Chi Yin.

After several years, looking back at Chi Yin, he felt that this person was actually quite childish. He didn’t have any feelings of liking anymore, as if he was looking at a silly and mischievous younger brother, always using various uninteresting tricks.

Qi Juan slowly curled up like a hedgehog, but one without spines.

“Cat got your tongue? Why aren’t you talking?”

“…”

“Playing dead, huh?” Chi Yin pressed on Qi Juan’s shoulder and suddenly punched him in the body.

He wasn’t sure where that punch landed exactly, probably around the area of his internal organs. In any case, it felt incredibly soft, like a completely blunt marshmallow, as if his entire fist had been swallowed up.

At the moment he pulled his hand back, Qi Juan instantly pressed his fingers hard against his stomach. He didn’t say a word, but his shoulders were trembling slightly, and his throat made a choking sound due to the pain he was trying to endure.

With his head lowered, a small part of his neck was exposed, its lines delicate yet pale, perfectly tucked inside the school uniform collar.

A hint of compassion crossed Chi Yin’s heart, but then he thought that he hadn’t achieved anything yet, so he continued, “No, can’t do. Did you skip a meal again? You’re really cooperating with me. But in this state, you won’t be able to vomit anything. You’ll just have to endure the pain. Why not have some milk? How about it, Qi Juan? I brought two bottles, and if you drink them, I’ll treat you to your favorite White Rabbit milk candies.”5White rabbit milk candies : they aren’t made of actual rabbit milk!

Qi Juan kept his head down, pressing his hand deeper against his stomach. “I said I don’t want to drink. Does it even matter?”

Chiyin inexplicably enjoyed the way this person was stubborn and liked to argue. He grinned and said, “It doesn’t matter.”

“How long do you want to play around before you stop finding opportunities to annoy me?”

“I’ll think about it, um… How about three months?”

“Goodbye,” Qi Juan covered his face with the blanket.

“What kind of reaction is that?” Chi Yin patted the blanket and followed him, saying, “If not, then how about two months and twenty-nine days?”

Qi Juan remained silent for a moment, thinking that they had once genuinely been good together for a while. Besides, someone who could do such things must have some psychological issues that couldn’t be resolved with normal methods. He could only blame himself for not seeing through the person’s true nature at the beginning.

He got involved with this ex-boyfriend who was like a persistent plaster.

He tightened the blanket even more, gritted his teeth, and said, “At most one month, then get lost quickly.”

“Alright, alright. One month it is, starting from today. My dear Qi Juan is so good,” Chi Yin leaned in and quickly kissed Qi Juan’s cheek.

“Don’t get so close,” Qi Juan hurriedly wiped it off with the back of his hand.

Chi Yin was momentarily stunned, thinking that when this person was his boyfriend, he used to be quite proactive and considerate. Why was he suddenly showing some resistance now?

“Tch. Then just drink the milk,” Chi Yin didn’t say much, but he opened a box of plain milk, inserted a straw from the opening, and handed it to Qi Juan.

As Qi Juan reached out to take it, he also bent down slightly. He pushed Chi Yin’s hand away and held his stomach before getting off the bed, swaying unsteadily as he stood up.

“Need to use the restroom already? So soon?”

“Mn.” Qi Juan quickly rushed into the bathroom inside the hospital room.

Bang!!”

He closed the door.

After a while, Qi Juan finally washed his face with cold water and pushed open the door. His entire stomach felt twisted like a tangle, tightening even more.

He felt dizziness and everything turned black before his eyes. His fingers instinctively held onto the door frame, and water droplets flowed down his dark hair, dropping one by one, contrasting his face that had turned pale like paper.

“Are you feeling better now?” Chi Yin saw him and grinned. He helped Qi Juan back to the bed and handed him the milk.

After the impulse, whether regretful or not, it didn’t matter anymore. After finishing the two boxes of milk, Qi Juan curled back into bed. His mouth was filled with the cloying taste of milk, and the milk clung to the tattered stomach lining, making it impossible to digest.

Waves of nausea surged up from the depths of his throat, and Qi Juan tightly squeezed his hands over his upper abdomen. The pain felt like a knife tip slicing open a wound from the inside.

Chi Yin took out his phone, started recording, and placed it on the bedside. He then took out two things and asked him, “Darling, let me think, should I feed you wasabi or give you anti-emetic medicine? I wonder which one you prefer?”

When recording the video, Chi Yin deliberately avoided directly calling Qi Juan’s full name, perhaps to save him a bit of face.

Qi Juan’s face was cold: “…”

Ah, he wanted to die.

“Not talking, does that mean you want to go through it again?” Chi Yin said, paying no attention to Qi Juan’s reaction.

Qi Juan dug out two capsules filled with wasabi from his palm. They were slightly damp, probably due to sweat. He endured the nausea and swallowed the items: “Are you done now? Satisfied?”

“Last time it started to feel uncomfortable after six minutes, I wonder if you’ll make some progress this time,” Chi Yin said, looking at the phone.

Qi Juan lowered his head, deliberately avoiding showing his face directly.

“Oh? It seems the time is up.” Chi Yin looked at Qi Juan, who had been silent for a long time, and reached out to pat him. “Darling, how do you feel?”

“…” Qi Juan bit his lip, unable to produce a sound. His mouth was filled with the sweet and fishy taste.

“Come here, I’ll massage it for you.” Chi Yin inserted his hand into the tight area of Qi Juan’s stomach and began to massage gently.

Qi Juan couldn’t help but tremble, and Chi Yin quickly supported him and placed a trash bin nearby. He held the phone in his hand, aiming it at Qi Juan.

In the video—

A faintly recognizable young boy with dark hair hanging weakly, his shoulders trembling, revealing slightly reddened collarbones. “Ugh…” The boy kept vomiting the milk mixed with green unidentified substances, looking difficult and painful.

With each vomit, it seemed like a piece of rotten flesh was scraped off from the stomach wall. Qi Juan tightly wrapped his arms around himself, feeling as if he was trapped in an icy abyss, experiencing a torture beyond imagination.

“Friends, what else do you want to see?” Chi Yin said while recording.

I wonder what those people in the live stream are replying. Chi Yin continued, “What’s there to worry about? He’s fine, his body is strong. Doing a few more rounds is no problem… Oh, this friend with the ID ‘Little Butterfly,’ you really have some ideas. Alright, let’s do as you suggested.”

Chi Yin nudged Qijuan and said, “Hey, my dear, have a few more capsules. They said they haven’t seen enough.”

Qijuan: “…”

He suddenly felt a bit hopeless, wanting to say, Go to hell, haven’t seen enough? How can I put an end to all of this?

With his head down, Qijuan looked at the palm of the hand extending from under his hair, where several capsules lay quietly. His hand, which was supposed to press his stomach, also hesitated.

The spine felt as if it had been soaked in vinegar, causing an endless sensation of sourness and tingling, leaving him completely devoid of strength.

Just by looking at the green objects wrapped in transparent capsules, Qu Jian felt his stomach twitching several times. He twisted his fingers, which were neatly trimmed and rounded on the bed, and reluctantly took the capsules. As the capsules approached his lips, the taste of wasabi rushed straight to the back of his nose, making it even more uncomfortable than swallowing poison.

Qu Jian: “…”

If it weren’t for the fact that the words have already been spoken

Qu Jian forced himself to stuff the capsules into his mouth, but he immediately felt the casings melting away in his oral cavity, leaving behind a spicy green substance that flowed between his lips and tongue. The taste of mustard seemed to spread into every open cell, impossible to contain.

Even though he wanted to swallow, he couldn’t resist and ended up spitting out the intact capsules.

“What are you doing?!” Chiyin threw his phone onto the bed and aimed a punch at Qu Jian’s abdomen.

Qu Jian offered no resistance, just collapsed on the bed, covering his eyes with his arm, trembling, allowing Chiyin to curse beside him.

What’s the point of this rebirth? He felt a bit aggrieved.

Suddenly, he thought of the blinding light on the operating table; it must have been because the daylight was too harsh, causing his eyes to become moist even when recalling it.

“Don’t move,” Qu Jian said in an exhausted and hoarse voice, holding onto Chi Yin’s soft hair.

Chi Yin hesitated for a moment before stopping, then obediently leaned against Qu Jian’s solid chest, asking, “What are you doing?”

“Chi Yin…” The second half of the sentence was “You really are something,” but Qu Jian couldn’t be bothered to say it.

The phone on the side kept chiming with notifications. Chi Yin reached over to take a look and couldn’t help but slightly curl up the corners of his mouth when he saw the barrage of messages.

He replied, [Yes, yes, yes, he loves me. I can do whatever I want with him.]

After Chi Yin sent the message, he immediately saw a barrage saying: [Wow, the little brother looks so handsome. Can the camera get closer?]

[I really like his teardrop mole, and his lazy and languid gaze. Oh my god, my heart is beating so fast.]

[At the moment he looked at the camera, I was struck. Ahhhhhhh!!!]

Immediately after, more bullet comments popped up.

“Damn.” Only then did Chi Yin realize that he accidentally brought half of Qi Juan’s face into the frame. He quickly covered the phone’s rear camera, got up, and moved away.

Qi Juan suppressed the discomfort in his stomach, curling up on his side and softly humming in distress.

Chi Yin counted the remaining capsules and patted Qi Juan, asking, “Feeling better? How many are left? Or” Chi Yin smirked, “—should I feed you?”

He tilted his head to spit out the gum in his mouth, placed the capsule at the back of his tongue, pinched Qi Juan’s cheek, and kissed his lips, pushing the wasabi inside.

Qi Juan pushed Chi Yin away abruptly.

Subconsciously, he tried to find water and glanced at the table, but all he saw was a half-filled cup containing that strange stuff. He had no choice but to swallow hard and pounded his chest.

At that moment, urgent footsteps could be heard from outside the room.
