A strong wave of Omega pheromones filled the air, and with the lounge doors shut, Lu Lianning felt suffocated by it, his brow furrowing deeply.
Ye He approached slowly, shedding his clothes piece by piece. The garments fell silently onto the wool carpet, barely making a sound. His face flushed, and his long, fair legs stepped onto the carpet like a drunken, obedient cat.
As Lu Lianning watched him draw closer, step by step, the familiar scent of Ye He’s pheromones, which had surrounded him long ago, enveloped him once more.
However, Lu Lianning, with his high pheromone level and the protection of a blocker patch, wasn’t like those low-tier Alphas who would lose control and go into heat at the faintest hint of Omega pheromones.
When Ye He finally reached him, he wrapped his arms around Lu Lianning’s neck, tilting his face upward for a kiss. He took Lu Lianning’s lack of resistance for consent. But as soon as his hand touched the blocker patch on the back of Lu Lianning’s neck, Lu Lianning’s hand fiercely gripped the swollen, heated glands on the back of Ye He’s neck.
That sensitive, vulnerable spot couldn’t handle the sudden pressure. Ye He immediately went limp, letting out a cry before biting down on his lip to stifle it.
Lu Lianning dragged him across the room, pulling him roughly until they reached the window. He flung the window open, pressing Ye He against the ledge, half of his body now hanging outside. Ye He struggled, screaming, “Lu Lianning! Are you insane! Let me go…”
Lu Lianning responded without a trace of emotion, “Let you go? Weren’t you just so eager to throw yourself at me?”
As the cold wind blew in, scattering the intense red wine-scented pheromones, Lu Lianning pressed his lower body against Ye He. With one hand still gripping the back of Ye He’s head, he leaned in to whisper in his ear in a deep voice, “What do you think? If I drop you from here, will they catch you?”
The scent of red wine pheromones drifted recklessly from the open window. On the street below, a few Alphas sniffed the air and instinctively looked toward the source. Though it was too dark and the distance too far to make out details, their sensitivity to Omega pheromones allowed them to quickly pinpoint the location of the Omega emitting the red wine scent.
Ye He stared in horror as a few alphas began clustering together. He couldn’t help but scream, “Let me go! Lu Lianning, don’t go overboard, please!”
Lu Lianning let out a cold snort. “Overboard? I told you not to bother me again. Why don’t you ever listen? Do you think I’m good-tempered?”
No one ever thought Lu Lianning was good-tempered. Ye He had only assumed he was special because he was Lu Lianning’s first love, thinking he was different from all those flings.
But he never imagined Lu Lianning could be so cruel, so indifferent to their past. He severed their ties so cleanly and without hesitation.
Ye He panted heavily, tears brimming in his eyes. “Let me go. I won’t bother you anymore. Just let me go… let me go! They’ll see my face…”
At last, Lu Lianning released him. Ye He collapsed onto the carpet, tears streaking his face. He looked like a weeping beauty, shivering from the cold and fear, without a single piece of clothing on.
Ye He reluctantly crawled to pick up his clothes from the floor, pulling them on. He staggered toward the door, but just as he reached for the handle, it swung open from the outside.
His tear-filled, turbulent eyes met a pair of clear, bright ones.
Chen Miao had some dust on him from who knows where, and his shirt was torn in one place.
He looked at Ye He and said, “I couldn’t find you earlier. Someone said you were here.” He held out the clean clothes to Ye He, only to notice that Ye He had already changed out of the wine-stained ones. Chen Miao looked puzzled. “You’ve already changed.”
Ye He snatched the clothes from Chen Miao’s hands, shoved past him, and hurried away.
Chen Miao was momentarily stunned, then he sensed a displeased gaze fixed on him.
With Ye He blocking the doorway earlier, Chen Miao hadn’t noticed that Lu Lianning was there as well. It was only now that he realized it.
Lu Lianning’s expression was cold. “Where have you been?”
Chen Miao didn’t know how to explain, vaguely realizing that Lu Lianning had probably seen and heard everything. How could he possibly bluff his way out of this?
“Uh… Mr. Ye spilled some wine, and… his assistant wasn’t around… so he asked me to help…”
Before he could finish, Lu Lianning cut him off. “Do you even remember what today is?”
Chen Miao froze, then quickly said, “Lu-ge, happy… birthday!”
Lu Lianning was infuriated by the insincere wishing. He walked over and said, “Look at what time it is! Happy birthday! It’s way too late for that…” As he approached Chen Miao, he suddenly looked at him with disbelief. The next second, he pulled Chen Miao closer and took a sniff.
Ye He’s pheromones.
The scent was strong, not just something that could have rubbed off from merely passing by him.
They had been alone together for quite a while.
Did something happen between them?
Lu Lianning recalled Ye He’s behavior in the lounge just now and cursed under his breath. He glared at Chen Miao as if he wanted to devour him.
Chen Miao looked at Lu Lianning with fear, unsure of what he had done to provoke him this time.
In the end, Lu Lianning didn’t say a word. Fury boiling inside, he shoved past Chen Miao and walked away.
Chen Miao hadn’t even stepped through the door before being shoved twice, nearly stumbling into the hallway.
He watched Lu Lianning’s stormy figure retreat and scrambled to follow, offering quiet apologies.
But Lu Lianning didn’t respond. His expression stayed cold as he marched all the way to the underground parking garage. When he reached the car, he opened the door and got in, refusing to let Chen Miao join him.
Chen Miao clung to the car window, asking, “Why?”
As Lu Lianning called for a driver, he glanced up with icy eyes. “You reek. Can’t you smell it yourself?”
