DIGAOT Chapter 2

Need a Suppressant?

“Let’s wrap it up here for today. It’s getting late, and we have a tough battle to fight tomorrow…” As the meeting neared its end, Lu Yuan stood up.

His phone, placed to the side, was on silent and had the vibration turned off, so the president hadn’t received the Omega’s misdialed call.

After the meeting, Lu Yuan had a brief conversation with a few department heads before picking up his phone, planning to head back to his office.

He was supposed to have dinner with a partner, so Lu Yuan walked to the elevator with him. However, the partner suddenly mentioned heading home first.

“Going home?” the alpha asked.

The partner pointed at his phone and smiled, “My family’s urging me.”

Family? For some reason, Lu Yuan’s first thought was of his own arranged marriage partner and the small cake that had suited his taste so well.

The partner pressed the elevator button, and while waiting, he kept glancing at his phone.

The partner laughed, “I didn’t check my phone during the meeting, and now they’ve urged me several times in just this short while.”

Lu Yuan frowned, noticing the partner’s tone was one of reluctant indulgence rather than genuine annoyance.

As the elevator doors opened, Lu Yuan hesitated before stepping in, casually asking, “Does he often urge you to go home?”

Partner: “Strictly, no choice.”

Lu Yuan: “Does he manage you that closely?”

Partner: “He’s quite clingy. If we’re apart for a bit, he’s already calling, such a hassle.”

Despite the complaints, the partner walked faster than anyone else.

Lu Yuan: …

Lu Yuan thought about his own “family” and suddenly felt a bit unsettled.

His “family” never seemed clingy. Nor had he ever complained about wanting to call him.

Of course, he… he didn’t necessarily need his Omega to be clingy. Besides, it was just an arranged marriage, so they should give each other enough space. Being overly affectionate would be pointless.

It’s just an arranged marriage, the alpha reminded himself repeatedly, but he still couldn’t help glancing at the partner’s phone.

Lu Yuan: “How exactly does your family urge you to go home?”

Lu Yuan: “When do they usually urge you to go home?”

Lu Yuan: “How often? Does your family urge you every day?”

Partner: …

Lu Yuan: *cough cough*

The alpha quickly averted his gaze from the partner’s phone, covering it up with a couple of awkward coughs.

“I mean, it’s not like I’m jealous or anything, just a little curious,” the president explained.

Partner: “Heh.”

After seeing off the partner, the president returned to his office. He still hadn’t checked his phone and didn’t know how many times the Omega had tried to call him. The alpha assumed, as usual, that the Omega wouldn’t have contacted him, but he couldn’t resist looking at his phone.

As soon as he saw the missed calls, the president was stunned.

Three!! Missed calls!!

Could it be that the Omega was urging him to go home too? A small part of the alpha felt… excited.

Of course, just a little bit.

The president didn’t even bother to shut down his computer and rushed out of the office.

As he dialed back, the alpha briskly walked toward the parking lot, listening to the “beep beep beep” on the other end.

No one answered for a long time, so the alpha called again. Halfway through, he ran into the partner from earlier, pointed at his phone, and indicated that he was on a call.

Partner: ???

So, the president mouthed to the partner: “My family’s urging me too.”

Partner: ???

On the third call, someone finally picked up. Su Yun was feeling awful, his voice coming out in broken fragments.

Su Yun: “…Mm…Hello?”

The president’s fingers clenched around his phone, and even his earlobes turned red in an instant—he wasn’t entirely clueless.

Given the situation, it wasn’t hard to figure out what was going on. There were no other noises from the phone, just the Omega’s suppressed, muffled sobs, accompanied by the rustling of clothes. In that moment, Lu Yuan guessed that his Omega was likely going through his heat.

Not only that, but as Lu Yuan listened to the call, a clock chimed on the other end. There was a wooden grandfather clock in the living room of the villa where he and Su Yun lived.

Su Yun was at home, Lu Yuan thought.

His Omega was at home, in heat, but instead of using a suppressant, he called him!

What does that mean?

Lu Yuan asked himself, quickly coming up with an answer.

Was his Omega so reliant on him? They say Omegas are clingier during their heat. Does this mean his Omega usually wants to call him and urge him to come home too?

Although…although they were just in an arranged marriage, he could still help his Omega, Lu Yuan thought.

Besides, they say using too many suppressants is bad for your health. Since the Omega had married him, it was his duty to be with his Omega!

And he would be very gentle.

The president put on his Bluetooth headset, listening to the call while researching AO bonding online. After all, he had never marked an Omega before, and some knowledge required experience to practice.

So in just the two minutes since he had taken the call, the redness from his ears had spread to his face. The alpha took a few steps, stopped, then took a few more, holding his phone in one hand while adjusting his tie with the other and fiddling with the trinket on the car’s dashboard.

Lu Yuan’s thoughts were all over the place, but calming his Omega was the most important task.

So, Lu Yuan prepared to speak, ready to tell his Omega that he was on his way home.

But before the president could say anything, the Omega’s voice came through.

“…Hello?” Su Yun was barely holding onto his last bit of rationality. His body was burning up, but the Omega was fully aware that they were only in an arranged marriage. If it hadn’t been for the sudden onset of his heat today, catching him off guard, the Omega had originally planned to go to a special isolation room at the hospital to get through it.

Su Yun hadn’t planned on asking Lu Yuan for help: “Is this Uncle Wu?”

Uncle Wu was the family’s beta housekeeper, an elderly gentleman who had supposedly taken care of the president for almost twenty years.

“Uncle Wu, could you please bring me a suppressant?” Su Yun struggled to get out a full sentence.

But the Omega waited for a long time without hearing the kind and familiar voice of Uncle Wu.

Su Yun: ???

Su Yun: “…Uncle Wu?”

At this moment, the person on the other end of the line was just as puzzled.

The president checked the phone screen again and again, confirming that the call had indeed been made by his Omega.

But…but the call wasn’t meant for him?

Uncle Wu?

Suppressant?

So does this mean his Omega—his family—would rather have a suppressant than him?

Partner: “My family’s urging me.”

President Lu (raises hand) (looks at phone) (tail wagging): “Hmph! My family’s urging me too!” ?(?^o^?)?
