The night was thick, and the pheromones spread through the room like waves crashing against rocks, eventually breaking into countless ripples. Within those ripples, Lu Yuan held his Omega tightly. The Omega tilted his head back, tears clinging to the corners of his eyes, and the president gently pulled him into his embrace, pressing a kiss on his eyelashes.
“Don’t cry, it’ll be over soon,” the president whispered, one hand gripping the Omega’s waist, exposing the pale, slender neck. The Omega’s glands, unmarked and slightly flushed, had a delicate pink hue. Lu Yuan, uncharacteristically nervous, lowered his head, his hot breath brushing against the spot. Su Yun tried to escape, but his waist was held even tighter.
The alpha’s pheromones carried a soothing effect, gently lapping at the Omega’s glands. Just as his teeth were about to pierce the skin, the alpha’s voice became muffled: “It’ll be quick, just a minute.”
Though… something about that sounded off.
But Su Yun was clearly comforted: “Just be quick.” The Omega’s entire body was soaked in the alpha’s pheromones, as if he had been submerged in orange soda all summer long. Every cell in his body was filled with the sweet and sticky orange flavor that belonged to the alpha.
The temporary mark left the Omega weak. He clutched the alpha’s sleeve, trying to get him to stop, but he didn’t realize that his tear-streaked, flushed appearance only made the alpha lose control even more.
And so, that “minute” stretched on endlessly, long enough for the Omega to almost believe that a century had passed.
Pheromones spread through the room as, for the first time since their arranged marriage, the two shared the same bedroom.
The next day, the alarm clock rang three times, but neither Lu Yuan nor Su Yun paid any attention to it. When Su Yun finally woke up, he was still resting on the alpha’s arm. In the end, it was the president who got up first. After washing up, he even cooked a pot of congee and kept it warm for his Omega.
“Mmm—” Su Yun slowly woke up to the smell of the congee.
What had happened last night was unexpected, and now the Omega felt a bit awkward. They were just in an arranged marriage; they weren’t really in love. Doing what they did last night was… not exactly proper.
It was just a temporary mark, Su Yun told himself.
Su Yun hadn’t intended for the alpha to take responsibility, especially since it was his mistake to call the wrong person in the first place.
“About last night—” Su Yun began, intending to say that they should consider last night an accident.
But the president leaned in and gave his Omega a kiss that tasted faintly of lemon—well, actually, it was just toothpaste.
The president: “Don’t worry! I’ll take responsibility!”
The president: “Are you still feeling unwell? If you are, you must tell me.”
Su Yun’s eyes widened slightly. The president thought his Omega hadn’t fully recovered from the temporary mark, so he leaned in and kissed him again, wrapping Su Yun in a comforting embrace of pheromones.
Su Yun: “…You? Take responsibility?”
But…
Lu Yuan took the Omega’s hand: “Yes.”
Lu Yuan: “I’ll take responsibility.”
The president suddenly remembered that after an AO couple got together, they were supposed to start calling each other “husband” and “wife.” So the alpha leaned closer to Su Yun and kissed the corner of his lips: “Can I start calling you ‘wife’ from now on?”
Su Yun: ???
Wait! Isn’t this moving a bit too fast?
Before Su Yun could react, the president continued, “Wife, there’s still congee warming in the pot. I made it this morning following a recipe. I failed twice, but the last batch turned out pretty good. Would you like to try it?”
Su Yun, still half-asleep and confused, ended up drinking the congee.
Lu Yuan: “Wife, how is it?”
The president’s eyes sparkled like those of a big, eager dog.
The president had planned to stay home with his Omega, knowing that after a temporary mark, the Omega would need the alpha’s comfort. But in the afternoon, he got a call from his assistant, requiring him to go to the office.
Before leaving.
Lu Yuan, while tying his tie and preparing to head to the office, said, “My partner’s family calls him every night, urging him to come home for dinner.”
Su Yun, still resting, lazily replied, “Mm.”
Lu Yuan: “They call every night!”
Su Yun: ???
Su Yun: “Got it.”
Lu Yuan: “Every night, you know.”
Alpha: Wife… you get what I’m saying, right? (?>?<?)
