After nearly half a year of gland rehabilitation treatment, coupled with timely injections of inhibitors, Zuo Chi’s condition wasn’t too bad.

But Qin Xu insisted that he shouldn’t go back alone. He prepared a guest room for Zuo Chi to stay in, and he even put the key to the guest room on the bedside table: “If you’re worried, you can keep the door locked all the time. It’s not safe for you to go back now, and besides, Omegas in heat need someone to take care of them. In my house, I can also make you some millet porridge.”

Zuo Chi knew Qin Xu made sense. He didn’t have the strength to drive back home at all now. Instead of making the trip back and forth, it was better to endure his heat at Qin Xu’s place.

But the heat period would last a full three days, and he couldn’t just do nothing.

“Thank you,” Zuo Chi sincerely said, “Can I make one more request?”

“Hmm?”

Zuo Chi: “Could you go to my house tomorrow and bring my laptop for me?”

Actually, before making this request, he hesitated a bit because his laptop contained many important files and business secrets. If leaked, he would have difficulty bearing the consequences. The next morning, Qin Xu was called to the Qin mansion by Qin Yanren to discuss matters. In the afternoon, he went to Zuo Chi’s house with the key provided by Zuo Chi.

He had taken Zuo Chi home before, but only a few times, and he had always dropped him off downstairs. So, he wasn’t very familiar with the way to his house. After entering the house, he made a voice call to Zuo Chi, found the laptop, and also asked if there was anything else he needed.

Zuo Chi asked him to bring a set of pajamas and two sets of clean clothes.

“Oh, and there’s a type of potion. It’s in the first drawer of the bedside table in the bedroom.”

The potion was used to regulate the hormone levels to avoid false heats.

While talking on the phone with his ear and shoulder, Qin Xu walked out, saying, “Okay. I’ve got everything.”

He opened the door, and a figure rushed towards him. Before Qin Xu could see clearly, a solid fist landed on his chin.

Sheng Li’s movements were smooth and agile. He twisted Qin Xu’s hands behind his back and only then did he stop to look at the person’s face.

He thought the person inside was a thief, but it turned out to be his rival.

His rival actually had the key to Zuo Chi’s house! And he couldn’t even enter Zuo Chi’s house! In an instant, Sheng Li’s face turned extremely ugly.

The things in Qin Xu’s hands fell to the ground, and the screen of his phone displayed an ongoing voice call, with the note of the caller being “Chi”.

“Qin Xu, what’s happening?” Zuo Chi’s voice sounded weak but fell into Sheng Li’s ears like a thunderbolt, splitting his heart and making him unable to extricate himself from the pain.

He had met President Zhang that morning. President Zhang said he had arranged to have tea with Zuo Chi in the afternoon, but Zuo Chi had to cancel because of an emergency. Zuo Chi always prioritized work, so Sheng Li guessed Zuo Chi’s heat had come early.

He was worried about Zuo Chi’s condition and sent many WeChat messages. Since Zuo Chi didn’t reply, he couldn’t help but postpone the afternoon meeting and took the time to come to Zuo Chi’s house.

And what was the result? Zuo Chi obviously saw his messages, but didn’t want to reply to him, and was chatting with Qin Xu on voice call!

Qin Xu even had the key to Zuo Chi’s house! And he held Zuo Chi’s pajamas in his hand!

Why did he have the right to come and go in Zuo Chi’s house!

Why?!

When did Qin Xu and Zuo Chi have such an intimate relationship that he didn’t know about?!

Sheng Li glared fiercely at Qin Xu, his facial muscles somewhat distorted. He wanted to strangle the person in front of him, so that he would disappear from his and Zuo Chi’s life forever.

Sheng Li’s heartache intensified by Zuo Chi’s attitude, which was reproachful towards him and concerned for Qin Xu.

His tone was gloomy, “What have I done to him? What can I do to him! Where are you now? How can you let an Alpha enter your house casually?!”

Qin Xu reached out to take back the phone, but Sheng Li dodged. Sheng Li grabbed Qin Xu’s wrist and stopped him from getting closer.

They were about the same height and similar in build, but Sheng Li often exercised and trained, making his muscles strong and his strength great. Qin Xu failed to snatch the phone and explained to Zuo Chi, “Chi, I’m fine. There’s just a little situation here.”

“Sheng Li! Give the phone back to Qin Xu!” Zuo Chi’s voice was full of anger, but it lacked intimidation due to its hoarseness.

“Where are you?” Sheng Li asked again, gritting his teeth, “You answer me, and I’ll give the phone back to him.”

“Where I am has nothing to do with you. Your behavior is harassment!” Zuo Chi retorted, “I’ll call the police!”

“Then call the police.” Sheng Li played dumb, “I just want to know where you are! I’m worried! If you don’t tell me, I won’t let him go.”

Seizing the moment when Sheng Li wasn’t paying attention, Qin Xu stretched his arm again, and his fingers touched the red button on the screen. The call was disconnected, “Chi came to my house for dinner yesterday. He had an early heat, so I let him stay at my house. Any more questions?”

Sheng Li stared at him fiercely, as if he might pounce on him at any moment, “You let an Omega in heat stay at your house? Who knows if you’ll take advantage of him.”

Qin Xu smiled faintly, “Chi trusts me.”

Sheng Li’s anger surged even more. How long had Zuo Chi known Qin Xu? And he trusted him like this?! Daring to spend the night at his house!

“I don’t trust you, I have to see him.”

Qin Xu crossed his arms over his chest. “I don’t think he would want that.”

Sheng Li knew he was speaking the truth, but he couldn’t back down. He didn’t want to disturb Zuo Chi; he only wanted to confirm his safety.

The call ended. Zuo Chi tried calling back, only to be hung up on. Qin Xu’s phone was probably still in Sheng Li’s possession.

Zuo Chi was somewhat worried that Sheng Li and Qin Xu might get into a fight without realizing the seriousness of it. If they did, Qin Xu wouldn’t stand a chance against Sheng Li.

In the past, there had been a troublemaker who had a crush on Zhou Jing and caused trouble for Xiang Yiqun. He had called seven or eight Alphas to block Xiang Yiqun, and Sheng Li had helped out. Together, they had beaten down that group of Alphas.

Ultimately, if it weren’t for him, Sheng Li wouldn’t have targeted Qin Xu. Zuo Chi couldn’t stay out of it.

An hour passed, and Qin Xu still hadn’t returned. Zuo Chi couldn’t sit still anymore. He stuffed two suppressants into his coat pocket, stuck on the shielding patch, and prepared to leave.

The door opened from the outside.

There was more than just Qin Xu standing outside. Sheng Li was holding his laptop, and in the instant their eyes met, his eyes reddened, “Ah Chi…”

Zuo Chi could guess that Sheng Li had pestered Qin Xu to come over, which wasn’t surprising. He averted his gaze, turning to Qin Xu, relieved to see no obvious injuries on his face. “Are you okay?”

Qin Xu shook his head. “The laptop got knocked around. Can you see if it’s affected?”

Sheng Li took a step forward; the grievance and bitterness in his heart were about to overflow, wanting Zuo Chi to look at him.

Zuo Chi reached out, “Give me the laptop.”

Sheng Li handed it over, staring at Zuo Chi, as if trying to bore a hole through him. He twitched his nose, sniffing the air like a dog.

The living room was filled with the scent of another Alpha, surprisingly that of coffee! It was so unpleasant!

“It won’t turn on.” Zuo Chi tried the laptop, glaring at Sheng Li. “Are you happy now?”

“I didn’t mean to.” Sheng Li said softly. “Let me see if I can fix it.”

Sheng Li was keen on electronic products, so it wasn’t surprising he could fix computers. Zuo Chi didn’t want to take a laptop with important documents to a repair shop and decided to give Sheng Li a chance. “If you can’t fix it, you better leave immediately.”

Zuo Chi’s tone was harsh, but influenced by the heat, his cheeks were slightly red.

Sheng Li felt like a small, blustering kitten. Itchy inside, he promised, “I can fix it.”

Qin Xu wasn’t very welcoming to Sheng Li coming to the house. He didn’t even give him the pink pig nose slippers, just tossed him a pair of shoe covers.

Sheng Li didn’t like being at the home of his rival either. He placed the laptop on the marble countertop and stood, bending over to tinker with it.

He stood there for over an hour, not even getting a glass of water.

Compared to Sheng Li, Zuo Chi was more concerned about the laptop. “Is it not fixed yet?”

“Almost. I’ve found out why it won’t turn on.” Sheng Li said. “Give me another half an hour.”

Zuo Chi emphasized, “Don’t reset it.”

Sheng Li stared at the parts he had removed from the computer, his hands not stopping. “Don’t worry.”

Half an hour later, Sheng Li finally fixed the laptop. He handed it to Zuo Chi triumphantly. “Take a look.”

Zuo Chi opened it and saw that the important files were still there. He breathed a sigh of relief. “Don’t forget, the problem with the computer arose because of you dropping it.”

Sheng Li pursed his lips. “I haven’t forgotten. I’m sorry.”

“You should’ve thought about that before showing up at my doorstep.” Zuo Chi said, “If you really feel sorry, you shouldn’t have come to my house.”

Sheng Li wanted to explain, but he couldn’t find the words. He had come to Zuo Chi’s house out of concern and worry, yet whether it was concern or worry, for Zuo Chi, it was all too late.

Zuo Chi raised his eyes. “What do you want by coming here again? Sheng Li, by repeatedly disrupting my life, you make me feel exhausted.”

What did he want? Sheng Li felt uncomfortable, he felt like whatever he did was wrong. Zuo Chi’s tone toward him was like he was dealing with a petulant child.

He knew that persisting like this was unattractive, and he knew that his behavior would trouble Zuo Chi.

But what should he do to win Zuo Chi back? Who could tell him?

“I…” Sheng Li started.

Qin Xu emerged from the bedroom, seeing the heavy atmosphere between them, hesitated for a moment, then asked, “Chi, what do you want for dinner tonight? Yam and lotus seed porridge or pumpkin and lean meat porridge?”

Zuo Chi doesn’t eat pumpkin.

Sheng Li instinctively wanted to retort, but he held back the words at the tip of his tongue. He knew what Zuo Chi liked and disliked, but he didn’t even know how to cook a bowl of porridge.
