On the eve of Valentine’s Day, Yan Yibing was invited to give a public lecture at a university in the capital city that specialized in esports.
Han Mo didn’t want to spend Valentine’s Day alone, so he took a leave from the club and went with him.
The capital city had recently been hit by heavy snow, with a significant drop in temperature. Many people caught the flu, so the club prepared masks and hand sanitizer for them to prevent catching a cold.
Han Mo simply used the mask as a scarf. The wind in the capital was strong, but the mask helped block it.
On the day of the lecture, Yan Yibing got up early, quickly freshened up, wrapped himself tightly in a down jacket, and turned to Han Mo, who had just gotten out of bed, saying, “You can sleep a bit more. I’ll be back after the lecture.”
Yesterday, they had dinner with the department heads and had a bit to drink. They came back late, so waking up early today was painful.
Han Mo shook his head, rubbing his forehead, and walked over, hugging the soft Yan Yibing tightly, planting a kiss on him. “Wait for me, I’ll go with you.”
Yan Yibing raised an eyebrow. “The classroom there is similar to the one we had during our youth training. You’ve heard my lectures before.”
Han Mo half-covered the bathroom door, turned on the warm water tap, calmly washing his face. “Hmm, I’m afraid you’ll be attracted by other talented kids.”
Yan Yibing chuckled, his eyes curving. “Well, the youngest college students are around seventeen or eighteen, right? Perfect age to go pro.”
Han Mo finished washing his face, feeling a bit more awake. With a clear expression and a smile in his eyes, he said, “Let’s go.”
Han Mo entered the university computer room ahead of Yan Yibing. It was already filled with people.
Perhaps having a star player giving a lecture was attractive, as all the good seats were taken, leaving Han Mo to find a seat in a remote corner near the back door.
With his head lowered and his mask adjusted, Han Mo walked past a student, quietly settling down in the corner.
With only his eyes visible behind the black mask, combined with his aura of indifference, the nearby students only glanced at him briefly, not curious about why he was there.
Yan Yibing waited until Han Mo had entered before showing up. As soon as he appeared, the classroom erupted into cheers and shouts.
The sudden surge of noise from the classroom walls made Yan Yibing pause slightly.
He rarely felt the enthusiasm of fans up close. Most of the time, it was online or at competitions. Even at competitions, the audience seats were far away, and he couldn’t see their faces clearly.
Now, in this small classroom, he could clearly see everyone’s expressions and hear every shout. It was quite strange.
Yan Yibing scanned the room and finally found Han Mo’s figure at the back. He hesitated for a moment before calmly retracting his gaze, “Thank you, everyone. Let me introduce myself. My name is Yan Yibing, and I’m an active player for Zero. I’m honored to give this public lecture today.”
Han Mo tilted his head slightly, looking at Yan Yibing with adoration.
The guy next to him, excitedly extending his arm, suddenly pulled the collar of the person in front of him. “Damn! It’s Yan Yibing! The world champion, awesome!”
The person in front was also excited, “Shh! I’m taking photos. Don’t pull me.”
The guy raised halfway and leaned forward, anxiously saying, “Help me take a photo too. My angle is not good, and I just realized Yan Yibing looks quite handsome.”
The classmate chuckled, “Wait a moment, there’s someone blocking.”
After finally taking a few pictures, the classmate handed them to the male student to see.
The male student immediately sent them to himself via WeChat, enjoying them for a while. Suddenly, he turned his head to look at Han Mo.
“Bro, do you want me to take a picture for you too?”
Han Mo: “?”
Han Mo replied indifferently, “No need.”
The male student sneered, “With your attitude, I doubt you even like Yan Yibing.”
The male student suddenly remembered that when Yan Yibing entered the room, the person beside him didn’t join in the cheers. He seemed indifferent.
“Bro, do you not like Yan Yibing?”
Han Mo glanced at him coldly, feeling as if there was a malfunctioning radio buzzing in his ears the whole time.
“Can you stop talking?”
Taking photos of my wife behind my back and blabbering endlessly.
The male student turned his head away in annoyance and made a contemptuous “tch” sound.
Beside him, there were quite a few of these self-righteous types who thought they were not inferior to professional players. They felt they only studied esports because they were forced by their parents and didn’t have the chance to get involved in gaming earlier. They reluctantly chose esports as their major and would probably end up working in management or training behind the scenes in the future.
The male student went back to taking photos of the students in front, “Hey, did you know that Yan Yibing likes men? His boyfriend is also a pro player.”
Classmate: “Hmm, who doesn’t know that? It even trended on social media.”
The male student: “At first, I didn’t quite understand. Liked men? Oh my, but today, seeing him up close, Yan Yibing looks quite handsome.”
A classmate nearby said jokingly, “Are you planning to come out of the closet too?”
The male student: “If I could date a pro like him, I wouldn’t mind struggling for another twenty years just to be carried to victory.”
Han Mo glanced at him coldly, but he didn’t want to disrupt Yan Yibing’s class, so he endured it.
Yan Yibing lectured for more than twenty minutes on theoretical knowledge, then had them open their computers and check their recoil control skills.
“Play well. I heard from your teacher that you want to reach Diamond II in League of Legends and 2500 points in PUBG solo. So, spray control shouldn’t be a problem. Whoever can’t play well will do twenty push-ups.”
Han Mo opened the game and logged into his rarely used alternate account.
Training ground recoil control was child’s play for him. Entering the training ground, he selected the M762, aimed the muzzle at the wall, and pressed the mouse button.
As soon as the bullets were fired, the guy next to him slammed the table, straightened his back, “Damn, I didn’t practice with the M762 during the winter vacation!”
The table shook from his slap, and Han Mo’s mouse slipped uncontrollably, leaving a terrifying array of bullet holes on the wall.
Han Mo: “….”
The atmosphere became tense and eerie. The guy slowly turned his head and saw Han Mo’s pitiful performance.
“Bro, sorry about that. Let me explain to the teacher for you, or do you want to start over?”
The guy whispered nervously.
If Han Mo were a student in this class, he would have raised his hand to redo the exercise to prove himself. But he wasn’t.
He was just here to accompany his wife and wouldn’t waste the time of legitimate university students.
Han Mo gritted his teeth, “No need.”
A minute later, screenshots of all the computer screens were transmitted to the machine in front of Yan Yibing.
Although the images were small, it was easy to see the recoil control level.
With a glance, you could tell who was stable and who wasn’t.
Forty screenshots covered the entire screen, with only two or three showing exceptionally poor performance.
Yan Yibing glanced back, especially at the guy who had turned the wall into a sieve with his poor shooting.
Yan Yibing raised his eyebrows and looked at the back, “….”
Han Mo: “….”
“Ahem, let’s do push-ups after class. I won’t waste everyone’s time now. Let’s talk about the tactical strategies for different drop points in Squad matches.”
Yan Yibing calmly averted his gaze, glossing over the punishment he had just mentioned. The other students who didn’t perform well inexplicably breathed a sigh of relief.
The guy excitedly patted Han Mo’s shoulder. “Bro, you’re lucky! It’s all in the past now. Usually, teachers in public lectures don’t care how well you practice. They just leave after class.”
Han Mo coldly brushed off his hand, “Don’t you want to listen to the lecture?”
The student shrugged indifferently, “Ah, I’m fine. Anyway, I don’t plan to become a professional player. Practicing so hard is pointless.”
Han Mo actually didn’t understand what kind of talents the esports major was trying to cultivate. Unable to help himself, he asked, “Then what can you do?”
The student grinned, “Hey, I applied for an internship at Prince as an assistant. If things go well, I’ll become a team manager or something in the future. Anyway, with my skill level, I can’t be a player.”
Han Mo exited the game and asked casually, “Did you pass the interview?”
The student replied, “Not yet. I have an interview next week. If they pay well and it’s not too tiring, I’ll go. If it’s too exhausting, forget it. But the seniors say that Han Shen’s club doesn’t overwork their staff, so it shouldn’t be too tiring.”
Han Mo: “Don’t go.”
The student was taken aback, “Huh?”
Han Mo said lightly, “You won’t pass the interview.”
The student looked at Han Mo as if he were crazy, “Who the hell are you? Do you think you can decide?”
Han Mo lifted an eyebrow, “Heh.”
The public lecture lasted for two hours. Yan Yibing’s throat was dry, and finally, the bell rang for the end of class. He waved his hand, shut down the computer, and cleared his throat. “Class dismissed, thank you, everyone.”
Someone joked, “Bing Shen, we haven’t done push-ups yet!”
“Yeah, the punishment hasn’t been given yet!”
“Hurry up, whoever didn’t perform well.”
Yan Yibing pressed his temples, indulging in a smile, “I’m just teasing you, prepare for the next class. I have to have breakfast with someone.”
“Wow, Bing Shen, who are you having breakfast with?”
“Hahahahahahaha who is it I’m so nosy!”
“Don’t make blind guesses!”
Since Yan Yibing was not much older and didn’t consider himself a teacher to these students, he spoke more casually.
Since someone asked, he didn’t hide it either. So, he raised his chin, gestured to the back row, and casually said, “Let’s go, Han Shen.”
Han Mo was about to shut down the computer. Upon hearing this, he stood up directly, nodded at Yan Yibing, and then said briefly, “Excuse me.”
The student suddenly widened his eyes, the words “Fuck” stuck in his throat.
“I-I-I…. you-you-you…”
Han Mo couldn’t be bothered with him, went straight to the front of the podium, picked up Yan Yibing’s backpack, and handed him the thermos cup.
Yan Yibing didn’t care about the commotion in the classroom. He drank some water and hooked Han Mo’s collar, and they left together.
Once they were outside, Yan Yibing closed the lid of the thermos and teased, “Didn’t see any particularly talented kids, but saw one who was exceptionally bad. What’s going on? If it weren’t for you, I’d make them do push-ups.”
Han Mo remembered it and felt a bit annoyed. He took Yan Yibing’s cup and drank a few sips naturally.
“That idiot next to me. Forget it, I’ll do push-ups for you later at the hotel.”
