DSF Chapter 24

Chapter 24

Yan Yibing pursed his lips, contemplating for a moment, but ultimately blushed uncontrollably.

Online, he could remain calm and composed even during the most intense moments. However, offline, especially when caught red-handed by Han Mo, he found it a bit hard to bear.

His choice of clothing today wasn’t helping either. The snow-white shirt he wore emphasized the red marks on his neck vividly, and even the dim lights of the coffee shop couldn’t conceal them.

Yan Yibing kept a straight face, stubbornly refusing to admit, “I really don’t know what Captain Han is talking about. If you’re not leaving, I will.”

Han Mo blocked the way out tightly, his long legs arrogantly stretching out, sealing off any possible escape routes.

Even if Yan Yibing tried to crawl under the table, there was no way out.

Han Mo lowered his eyes and smiled. His jet-black hair swayed in front of his eyes, casting a shadow with a hint of darkness.

He calmly said, “Since it has nothing to do with Bing Shen, I’ll edit out those parts where you called me Han Mo gege and post it on Weibo. I might as well share the IP address. Who knows, it might be someone else from your team.”

He retracted his legs, and lazily stood up, preparing to leave.

Yan Yibing panicked and instinctively grabbed Han Mo’s sleeve.

The baseball jersey had a good texture—soft and lightweight—but Yan Yibing still felt it was rubbing his hands the wrong way.

After a pause, he took a deep breath, softly calling out, “Han Mo…”

While feeling embarrassed and cursing himself internally, he wondered why he didn’t know two years ago that the once innocent and obedient kid would turn into the little beast he is now.

Begging was something he couldn’t bring himself to do, but if Han Mo really edited the video and shared the IP address on Weibo, he would face complete social death. All the reputation he had built in the esports community over the years would be gone.

In fact, Han Mo had no intention of leaving at all, so when he felt a slight resistance, he stopped in his tracks.

Glancing sideways and lowering his eyes, he saw that Yan Yibing’s earlobes were completely red. The dim light couldn’t hide the transparent softness of his earlobes.

Yan Yibing’s eyes reflected a mix of embarrassment, anger, helplessness, and irritability. His cheeks were burning, his eyebrows were furrowed, and the strands of hair in front of his forehead were fixed in place with hair gel, which could not cover up the embarrassment at all.

But with all these emotions combined, he looked particularly cute.

Han Mo had secretly appreciated Yan Yibing in this state for a long time. After enjoying it enough, he calmly said, “Bing Shen admitted it? For the sake of Prince’s tactics, you went so far as to play on a female account to climb the rankings and even called someone ‘gege’ in the game.”

Yan Yibing quickly withdrew his hand.

Too embarrassing.

So, he used his right hand to cover the upper half of his face, turning his head toward the wall, feigning ignorance and pretending not to hear.

Muffled, he said, “What exactly do you want?”

Han Mo took advantage of the situation, continued to press, and, while Yan Yibing couldn’t see, his eyes gleamed with a smile, but his voice was frighteningly cold.

“Call me ‘gege’ again, I’ll listen.”

Yan Yibing felt like his blood was about to flow backward.

His gaze fell on a jar of sugar, plump and shiny, indicating good quality.

He was considering whether to just knock Han Mo out and make a run for it.

Unfortunately, it was just wishful thinking.

Getting into this business, the only improvement is that he has become a bit more outspoken.

But now, even in terms of being ‘sassy,’ he can’t compare to Han Mo.”

Yan Yibing said depressedly, “Han Mo, I could barely be considered your master before.” So you should at least show me some respect. These sassy remarks might work on others, but don’t say them to me.”

Han Mo replied calmly, “As you said, it’s in the past.”

Yan Yibing awkwardly asked, “Do you hate me that much?”

There was a hint of bitterness in his heart.

It was somewhat melancholic when someone who had once been very good to you now seemed to want to devour you.

Han Mo paused for a moment, avoiding the question.

He said coldly, “Is it so difficult to call me gege? Bing Shen, captain, master— I’ve called you all of these. Why is it so hard for you to yield a bit?”

He just wanted to know why it was so hard for Yan Yibing to be a bit kinder to him.

Why could he be lenient with everyone else but not with him?

Even with Lei Ming, he was more merciful than with him.

Yan Yibing’s shoulders trembled slightly, remaining silent.

He was older than Han Mo, so it was normal for Han Mo to call him these things.

But asking him to call his own disciple ‘gege’ was something he couldn’t bring himself to do.

Seeing him shaking with anger, Han Mo, feeling uncomfortable, rubbed his index finger joints and began to reflect on whether he had gone too far.

Yan Yibing was different from him.

Yan Yibing was a young master, pampered since childhood, and praised by his parents and teachers. Upon entering the professional circle, he instantly gained a fan base showering him with rainbow-colored compliments. With one trophy after another, his status in the industry soared. Whether dealing with newcomers or veterans, everyone addressed him as “ge” when they met.

Unlike him, who lowered his head for many things and could trample his self-esteem into the ground.

He just felt a bit crazy with jealousy when he saw Yan Yibing dressing up so nicely for a blind date.

Han Mo’s Adam’s apple rolled slightly. He was about to retract the words when he heard a barely audible “Mm.”

The café wasn’t quiet, with blues music playing in the background, and Yan Yibing’s voice was too low, as if that moment just now was just an illusion.

Han Mo raised an eyebrow, his tone unconsciously softened, and his voice lowered, “What?”

Yan Yibing gritted his teeth in frustration, let go of his hand, and stared at him with red eyes, “Gege, gege, alright!”

He averted his gaze, and his long eyelashes trembled quickly twice.

From now on, he would never be able to lift his head in front of Han Mo.

Being addressed like that made Han Mo’s chest tingle, and he felt a bit dazed.

It’s clearly two words spoken in anger, but it seems like he hasn’t savored them enough.

He hadn’t expected Yan Yibing to actually say it because he wouldn’t really edit the video and post it on Weibo.

Yan Yibing raised his hand to summon the waiter. “Check, please.”

The waiter, upon hearing the call, promptly ran over with the POS machine.

“Sir, your cup of Flat White, 73.”

Yan Yibing lifted his chin. “And the classic Blue Mountain for the lady across.”

The waiter responded with an “Oh” and then looked at Han Mo. “And for this gentleman…”

Yan Yibing, with a cold face, pulled out his credit card from his pocket. “I don’t know him; he’ll pay for himself.”

The waiter said, “…The total is 150.”

Han Mo gently curled his lips, straightened his back, took out his wallet from his work pants, pulled out his credit card, took Yan Yibing’s card, and gave his own to the waiter.

“Together with a cup of hazelnut mocha for me.”

Yan Yibing frowned. “I’ll pay for myself, no need, Captain Han.”

Ignoring him, Han Mo lazily said, “Consider it compensation for bullying you.”

Yan Yibing snorted and lifted his eyes. “What does my blind date have to do with you?”

Han Mo remained calm. “Consider it my way of making it up to you.”

Yan Yibing said, “…”

The waiter swiftly swiped Han Mo’s credit card, and Yan Yibing didn’t resist any further. After all, he had covered Han Mo’s medical expenses before; this was just a small matter.

Yan Yibing kicked the edge of Han Mo’s shoe. “Move, I’m going home.”

Han Mo made way for him, took back the receipt, and put it, along with the credit card, in his pocket.

While walking, Yan Yibing lowered his head and posted a Weibo update.

@ZeroYanYibing: Heh, today is truly the unluckiest day.

Yan Yibing: Is it so hard to call me dad? Why don’t you call me dad?

Han Mo: Dad.

Yan Yibing: F***… This person has no bottom line.

Translator’s Note:

A bit of TMI, when I was translating this chapter I found the coincidence so fascinating that the main character of the series that I’m working on, and the idol I love very much have the same nickname in Chinese, Bing Bing 冰冰, and also the fact that both of them doesn’t have a single bone of iciness in their personality even though they are 🧊🧊. Anyway, I’ll try to aim for a double update to celebrate the start of the weekend 🎉, do look forward to it 😊

Thank you for reading! ❤

Hope you enjoy the rest of your day 🍀
