When Shan Ming woke up again, it was already three days later. They were no longer in Sierra Leone. They had retreated to the Angolan Armed Forces base near Pella Mond for refuge. Shan Ming didn’t know how the ‘Peregrine Falcon’ managed to stay in ‘Lion Mountains’ and used local resources to dig them out of the ground. But most of them were due to trading with the local smuggling army so he didn’t need to worry about these. Tiger shark will handle it.
After he woke up, he learned what happened from Ayer.
Tiger Shark and his team went to the church to find Pell and the others. Pell and Falcon were carrying the seriously injured Zouhuo for retreat. They were planning to put Zouhuo in a safe place before going back to get Vulture. Vulture gave Shen Yao the most fatal blow and at the same time, he was buried in the completely collapsed church. Later, they dug up and found the inhuman-looking body of Vulture from the ruins. Although he had expected that this person would not survive, Shan Ming still felt it was such a pity for him to be confirmed dead. He always hated Vulture’s arrogance, especially towards mercenaries like them. He has a sense of superiority. But he has to admit that Vulture is a real man and he does have the capital to look down on others. Knowing that his location would be exposed, he still fired that shot. If he hadn’t sacrificed his life for Shen Yao’s serious injury, they don’t know how many more people would have died.
Vulture had been seriously injured when the tank attacked. Zouhuo also wasn’t any better. One of his legs was hit by the falling ceiling and his bones were all broken. There is no possibility of healing anymore. If he wants to save his life, it can only be amputated. Losing a leg made it impossible for him to go to the battlefield again. Fortunately, his will was not depressed because of this. He quickly accepted this reality. Those who are in this line of work are ready to die or being half-dead at any time.
Kali was knocked unconscious by the shock wave of the bomb. He passed out in a corner of the administrative building but he miraculously did not suffer any serious injuries.
The wounded soldiers who were unable to move and remained in the tavern did not die. But some of them had to lie on the bed for at least a year.
This time, ‘Peregrine Falcon’ had lost two people with one person being disabled. Meanwhile, three people were seriously injured. The others only suffered large or small injuries. They didn’t suffer heavy losses.
On the other hand, Tang Tingzhi’s side was even more miserable. Since the mercenaries were not there when fighting against the Dragon Blood men, the young and brave Chinese special forces Dragon Blood men rushed up to fight. The price was that five of them died this time. The remaining half were seriously injured. The bodies of two special forces soldiers who were buried underground with Shen Changze and Shan Ming could not even be taken out due to resources and time constraints.
Ayer said that after they were rescued, the Chinese soldiers all cried facing the ruins.
After Shan Ming listened silently, an unspeakable depression appeared in his heart.
He always thought that he had already abandoned the concept of belonging to a country. He had fought in countless battlefields for more than ten years and watched those people of all colours fall in front of him indifferently. But when Chinese soldiers died in battle, he always had a strong thought of “I don’t want this to happen again”.
He dared not say that he still has the concept of compatriots. But at least, they speak the same language. Plus, the persistence and spirit of these people makes him admire them greatly.
Due to too many injuries, they have been eating and drinking for nothing at the base of the Angolan Armed Forces. Except for Job and Koski, who respectively sent the bodies of Dino and another dead comrade back to their hometowns, the others who were able would train troops for the Angolan Armed Forces. They also occasionally help them assassinate a person or two in return for this operation.
Shen Changze woke up after sleeping for five days. He has largely overcome the weakness of needing to sleep to recover his physical strength after a long period of transformation. This time, he slept for five days at once, which is enough to show how much physical energy he has exhausted this time. The first thing he did when he woke up, to no surprise of anyone, was to find his father.
This time, Shan Ming only suffered all flesh injuries so he could get out of bed soon. He didn’t want to be idle every day so he trained two snipers for the Angolan Armed Forces.
Pell found him when he was teaching the two of them and told him that Shen Changze was awake.
Shan Ming followed Pell to go see him.
Pell glanced at him a few times, hesitant to speak.
Shan Ming blinked, “What’s wrong, baby? What do you want to say?”
Pell raised his eyebrows, “When I was treating you, I found that you had many hickey marks on your body.”
Shan Ming let out an “oh” and said with a smile, “I was bitten by a bug.”
Pell smiled charmingly, “That’s a big bug.”
Shan Ming nodded and stretched, “Yep.”
Pell pursed her lips and said with a smile: “This bug has always been clinging to you since he was a child. I really didn’t expect that you would…”
Shan Ming smiled and said: “It’s no big deal. I just want to live for the moment.”
The two walked outside the room and Pell patted him on the back, “Go on in.”
Shan Ming kissed Pell’s cheek, “Thank you.” Then, he opened the door and walked in.
Shen Changze had just taken a shower. He was cutting his wet, somewhat long hair in front of the mirror. When he heard the door being pushed open, he turned his face and looked at Shan Ming excitedly.
He called him “Baba”. He then walked towards Shan Ming and held him in his arms.
Shan Ming sniffed the pleasant scent on his skin and felt refreshed.
They both survived. Again and again.
Shen Changze held Shan Ming’s face. He gently kissed his soft lips. The kiss was cautious and lingering. The beautiful emotions of when two lips and teeth met seemed to be able to melt them completely.
The two parted while panting. Shan Ming couldn’t help laughing as he looked at his half-cut hair.
He took the scissors from Shen Changze, “Sit down. I’ll cut it for you.”
Shen Changze smiled and said, “When will you cut your own hair?”
“I’ll just trim it short.” Shan Ming brought the scissors up and cut off a large chunk of Shen Changze’s hair.
Shen Changze looked at the big ‘gap’ on his head. It was impossible to remedy it so he felt helpless, “Okay. You can cut it however you want.”
Shan Ming chuckled, “You look good even if you shave off your head.” After speaking, he cut off Shen Changze’s hair rudely, leaving only short hair stubbles of different lengths. But Shen Changze still looks so handsome that people can’t take their eyes off of him. Every facial feature is a masterpiece of God. With such a hairstyle, he looks even more vibrant.
Shen Changze looked at Shan Ming’s smug expression through the mirror with a smile that couldn’t be concealed from the corner of his mouth.
It’s great to be alive. It’s great to see Baba’s face.
