It was almost too late to avoid the attack. Shen Yao had already rushed in front of his eyes and his sharp claws directly grabbed his neck.
Shan Ming grabbed his shock particle sabre and stabbed at his palm, while blocking his neck with his arm.
Shen Yao’s fingernails slid across the sabre. The sound of metal beings scratched was extremely ear-piercing. Blood was spilled in the air. Time seemed to be frozen. Shan Ming watched the string of blood beads float past his eyes and then Shen Yao’s wrist hit his arm. The wrist joint turned and the long and sharp claws continued to aim towards his neck.
Shan Ming’s eyes widened as he felt a sharp pain in his neck. Although his arm blocked it, the sharp claws still broke through the flesh of his arm and penetrated into his neck.
In the next second, Shen Yao was slammed away by Shen Changze. The two became entangled as Shen Yao was pushed by Shen Changze more than ten metres away, stirring up dust all over the sky.
Shan Ming fell to his knees with the sound of a plop. He covered his neck with his hands. The warm blood instantly flowed through. He gasped for breath. Fortunately, he didn’t get cut in the vital parts of his neck or arteries. So he was still able to breathe. …He touched the three bloody holes on his neck with trembling fingers and felt that the deepest part was at least three to four centimetres deep while the length was five to six centimetres long. Only the skin was scratched, but the blood was already flowing nonstop.
Zhao Qingling rushed over. She roughly opened her backpack and found out the hemostatic agent. She quickly sprayed it on the wound. The blood coagulant soon took effect. Shan Ming was still breathing desperately. It was as if breathing was the most precious thing for him to do right now.
Zhao Qingling threw a bandage in front of him, “Take care of it yourself.”
Shan Ming resisted the dizziness caused by blood loss and tremblingly wrapped his own neck with the bandage. He was completely useless. He went down to the basement to help but he only stood there for less than ten seconds and Shen Yao already managed to cut three bloody holes on his neck and drained his blood. He was injured in the first place so he was no longer useful. Almost half of his combat power has been lost now.
After he had finished bandaging himself, he leaned against the corner and began to assemble his sniper rifle.
The battle of the three Dragon Blood men was really exhilarating. In the end, they could barely see their movements. They could only see three flying shadows of the colour gold, red and brown. They were seen biting and fighting each other. It was extremely fierce.
Shen Changze grabbed Shen Yao’s arm and slammed him onto the wall while Zhao Qingling rushed forward and punched him on the forehead. Shen Yao pushed her away forcefully and retreated a few metres away. The three of them stopped, desperately gasping for breath.
Shen Changze said in a deep voice, “Father, you have no chance this time. Just surrender.”
Shen Yao said fiercely: “Everyone is betraying me. My son, my wife…you all really deserve to die. I will never surrender. Human beings are not worthy of dominating me.”
Zhao Qingling looked at him sadly, “No one wants to dominate you. But you have made too many mistakes. In order to strengthen the team of Dragon Blood people, how many innocent people were forced to become test subjects? And how many people died in the lab? Let go of your crazy delusion. Don’t make any more mistakes.”
Shen Yao displayed a smile that was extremely sad mixed with anger, “Qingling, we used to have some tacit understanding. So why can’t you understand me? We are Dragon Blood people. The three members of our family are all Dragon Blood people. Why should humans persecute us? Human beings deserve to die. Especially those outside. If it wasn’t for them, we wouldn’t be separated and we wouldn’t be where we are today!”
He supported the dislocated joint of his arm and relocated it with a click. The wound on his arm was bleeding profusely. Shen Changze and Zhao Qingling were not looking any better. They were all scarred. The family of three had turned against each other. Thus, all of them felt indescribably uncomfortable.
Shan Ming quickly loaded the gun and stuffed armour-piercing bullets in it. He aimed at Shen Yao.
Shen Yao rushed towards Shen Changze again.
The speed of the three of them was too fast. Once they moved, Shan Ming couldn’t aim at all. He waited quietly. He was waiting for the best time to take a shot.
Suddenly, the door of the basement was slammed open. Ayer rushes down covered in blood, followed by Crow and Huang Ying. All of them were injured to varying degrees. But Shan Ming knows that they have won this battle.
Seeing that the general situation was over for his side, Shen Yao’s face was full of resentment. He threw Shen Changze off of him and rushed towards the door.
Ayer and Crow rushed up to stop him. But he slammed them to the ground. In a flash, Shen Yao disappeared at the door.
Shan Ming jumped up and chased after him fiercely. He couldn’t let Shen Yao run away. He couldn’t give Shen Yao another chance to harm Shen Changze.
Both Shen Changze and Zhao Qingling chased towards the door as well. When Shan Ming ran to the door, Shen Changze grabbed him and said, “Don’t go!”
Shan Ming shook off his arm, “Don’t talk nonsense. Hurry up and chase after him.”
A group of people went out to chase after him. But they were blocked by the remaining Dragon Blood men at the door. Shan Ming smashed a dragon claw that was about to slap his face with the butt of his gun. But was hit by another Dragon Blood Man and was pushed against the wall. His head hit the corner of the wall suddenly and his eyes went black for a moment. He slowly sat down on the ground. His body suddenly became a little immobile.
Ayer rushed over to pick him up. He sent him to Tang Tingzhi’s side. Shan Ming shook his head desperately, trying to clear his mind. But the move accidentally ruptured the wound on his neck. The blood flowed out again.
Tang Tingzhi pressed his head with both hands. He stared into his eyes and said wordlessly, “Don’t move.” Then he moved his gaze to Shan Ming’s neck and frowned.
Shan Ming knew that it would be useless for him to go now. So he sighed and sat quietly for Tang Tingzhi to treat his wound.
Due to excessive blood loss, he fell unconscious without knowing it.
It was already two days later when Shan Ming woke up again. These days, he was continuously injured, lost a lot of blood, and was physically exhausted.
When he woke up, only Ayer was beside him. He opened his mouth. His throat was hoarse and painful.
Ayer poured him a glass of water. After he swallowed it, he quickly asked, “How did it go?”
Ayer’s injuries seemed already healed. He smiled wearily, “Shen Yao was caught and we also lost a lot of people this time. But the mission is completed.”
Shan Ming was stunned. He suddenly felt unable to adapt. Shen Yao, who had tortured them for so long, was finally defeated. From now on, could it be that Shen Changze could live with peace of mind?
“How did you deal with him?”
“Tang Tingzhi and Shen Changze escorted him back to Beijing. Zhao Qingling followed them. But they did not return to the base. Tang Tingzhi negotiated with the people above and temporarily locked Shen Yao in a military area. There is no way to deal with him now. And that’s that.”
Shan Ming let out a long breath. He suddenly felt a lot more open-minded. The big stone that had been pressing on his heart disappeared completely. His breathing was finally so smooth.
“Are we still in Tunisia?”
“Yes. A lot of people are injured and it’s inconvenient to move around. We’ll stay in Tunisia for a while and wait for Tang Tingzhi to come back to pick us up.” Ayer took a bite of the apple but then remembered Shan Ming. He handed half an apple to him. “Do you want to eat?”
Shan Ming turned his face away. He stared at the ceiling thoughtfully, not knowing what he was thinking about.
Ayer scratched his hair, “It seems like everything ended suddenly. It feels so unreal…Damn it. Shen Yao is a fucking bastard.”
Shan Ming knew that both he and Ayer wanted to avenge the death of many ‘Peregrine Falcon’ comrades-in-arms. But Shen Yao’s life and death were no longer decided by one person. They all felt unreconciled.
Yeah. It all ended suddenly.
In just over a year, they fought non-stop all over the world. They were fighting against Shen Yao time and time again. They had lost many things that could never be recovered. But even if Shen Yao died, nothing could be changed.
And now, the reasons for them to keep on fighting no longer exist. So what should they do next?
Many retired members of ‘Peregrine Falcon’ have gone to live their own lives. Shan Ming asked himself; what should he do next?
Shan Ming asked, “Ayer, what are your plans for the future?”
“Me? I have to stay in China and learn how to control and strengthen myself. Otherwise, I won’t be able to have sex for the rest of my life.”
Shan Ming nodded. It will take at least two years for Ayer to fully adapt to his identity. He’s afraid that after two years, he will not want to leave anymore.
Then what about me? Shan Ming wondered.
Ayer asked, “What about you? Are you going to ask your son to send you to a retirement home?”
Shan Ming thought of Shen Changze’s young face full of strong desire to monopolise him. His heart was full of confusion.
The fact of him being confused in making his decision has actually started to worry him. Since when did he start to be full of worries when making decisions? By whom and by what force was he hesitating like this? Where did the former Shan Ming go?
Shan Ming closed his eyes, His mind was in a mess.
