Ayer looked in the rearview mirror at the seven cars following him, feeling a little annoyed.
If they hadn’t had to go too hastily, they should not have abandoned four cars for now. Such a big convoy would be targeted. It would be quite troublesome if they were stopped by the local police in broad daylight.
Fortunately, their location was not far from the smuggling port. If they were really intercepted, they could only use guns to make way. Or else, when the government dispatched armed troops to find them, they would be completely finished.
They were speeding along the coastline and there were not many vehicles they encountered along the way. Myanmar’s car possession rate is not high. In such a backward country, the people’s stress response is very low. Gradually, Ayer is not too worried if someone would think of them as suspicious and call the police. He could only begin to worry about those Chinese special forces that Shan Ming mentioned about who might be right behind them.
China has always been a place they tried their best to avoid. The monster they encountered in Yunnan four years ago killed their foster father and destroyed most of what their mercenary regiment had built for years. This mysterious oriental country also has a powerful military strength. There are still some insidious things happening there beyond people’s imagination. They haven’t set foot in China since then no matter how much the price someone would offer them.
He really didn’t expect that this time when he only accepted a not-so-difficult task by the border, he had to get involved with the Chinese again. Ayer has some worries in his heart, but the current situation is more favourable to them so he will not be blindly pessimistic. The most important thing now is to leave this place and return to their lair in Columbia. Only after that will he make a long-term plan.
Shan Ming’s voice came from the radio, “How far is it? Someone is following us.”
“Hurry up. These drug dealers are really creative. They built the smuggling port in the rich area. The government of this country has been corrupted by drug dealers and smugglers.”
Shan Ming kept watching behind him. After hearing what Ayer said, he looked at the surrounding environment. Sure enough, out of nowhere, rows of beautiful villas were situated on the left side. These villas face the blue sea which was sparkling under the sun. The scenery was breathtaking.
“Should we leave them be? Let them follow us?”
Ayer stared at the navigator intently, “Leave them be. If they dare to do anything funny, they can watch the little boy be thrown off dead from the car.”
Shan Ming sneered and said, “Nah… I’m more inclined to shoot at them with bazookas.”
“Is Kali in your car?”
Shan Ming glanced at the red-haired sniper who was holding Shen Changze in his arms while reading pornographic comics and explaining to the child, “Kali, you son of a bitch. Is this how you’re teaching him English?”
Kali ignored him. He turned a page as he rubbed the child’s belly and laughed, “Have you learned a lot of new words?”
The child nodded half-understanding what was written. He then pointed to the book and asked curiously, “Is this woman dying?”
Kali and Dino laughed so hard that they burst into tears.
Ayer rolled his eyes, “Tell him to prepare the incendiary grenades. You notify the four cars behind us to be ready to abandon the car at any time. Let Kali blow them up.”
Shan Ming notified them one by one. After a while, Ayer’s joyful voice came from the radio, “Shan, guess what I found?”
“What?”
“An ‘Eel’.”
Shan blew a whistle and said with a smile, “How are you so lucky? Do you have enough fuel?”
“I don’t know since I can’t see clearly at this distance. Damn, where is my telescope?”
Shan Ming asked Pell to rummage in the trunk for a while and finally fish the telescope out.
He opened the car window and leaned out. He looked at the boats moored in the distance using the telescope. There was indeed an ‘Eel’ there.
This thing was originally a medium-sized boat built by the British for interception at sea. It has a load of five tons and can run for a day and a night with a full tank of fuel. The speed is as high as 160 knots. It is basically impossible to catch up when driving it out in the sea. This should be very easy for them to use. They had no idea which rich drug dealer put it there but now that it appears in front of them, it seems that it is specially prepared for them.
He carefully observed the water line and made some calculations in his head. He finally said to Ayer, “There should definitely be enough fuel for us to go to Indonesia.”
Ayer grinned widely. His eyes even shone brightly, “That’s right.”
All the longitudinal vehicles rushed towards the smuggling port and stopped by its trestle.
Ayer’s order came in quickly. The last four cars parked on the road in unison, completely blocking the not-so-wide lane.
Then, the people in the car got out of the car quickly, dispersed and got into the four cars at the front very tacitly.
Their actions attracted the attention of the people loading and unloading by the port. They all only looked at them but did nothing else.
After all, this was just a small port. There were many yachts belonging to wealthy businessmen on the moor. Although the smuggling activities lack government supervision, things could not be done so out in the open. They all could only display their surprise.
Ayer said to the radio: “Drive directly up. Sniper, get in position. Shoot anyone who dares to stop us.”
The four vehicles drove onto the trestle bridge recklessly, planning to rush onto the smuggling boat in one go and sailed off immediately.
But after driving for a short distance, Ayer suddenly realised that something was wrong.
The smuggling boat filled with oil should be ready to go to sea but why are there no workers working on the boat?
Ayer stopped the car and stared intently at the smuggling boat. He then looked back at the special forces chasing after them. He said, “Kali, detonate the bombs.”
Immediately after that, a gunshot was heard. An incendiary grenade stuck to the fuel tank of one of the cars they abandoned was accurately shot at. The body of the car exploded, detonating the other three cars parked by its side. The flames rose up into the sky for a moment. The entire road was completely destroyed and the few cars chasing after them were all blocked.
The dock workers ran away in fright. The scene immediately became very chaotic.
The trestle was also affected by the explosion and the body shook violently. Just after Kali fired this shot, his body which was sticking out of the car was shot at.
A bullet pierced his shoulder and passed through his shoulder blade. If it wasn’t for the shaking of the car, the bullet would definitely have penetrated into his head.
Dino held his leg and dragged him back inside. Red blood splashed on the car seat.
Shen Changze screamed: “Pell! Pell!”
Shan Ming shouted into the intercom: “Ayer, Kali was shot. Someone is on the ‘Eel’!”
Pell pulled out her medical kit and tied the artery to stop the bleeding first. She then put the scissors into Shen Changze’s hands and ordered: “Cut off his clothes.” She concentrated on preparing for an emergency operation.
The child gritted his teeth and cut off Kali’s blood-stained clothes with trembling hands. The hot and humid touch made him panic and frightened. Beads of sweat appeared on his forehead.
The door of the second car was opened. Jushi was holding a bazooka on his shoulder. He stood behind the door and was covered by the whole car.
Only a big man like Jushi who is two metres tall and weighs more than two hundred catties can withstand the recoil of the bazooka. But the power of carrying the rocket on his shoulders is limited. This attack will not cause devastating damage to the hull, but at the very least the people inside will be affected.
Ayer yelled into the radio: “Get in! Take the ship.” After speaking, he took the lead. The driver accelerated and rushed onto the smuggling boat.
The cars behind him also followed. They knew that this ship was their only chance to escape. Even if there were snipers hidden on it, they had to bite the bullet and get on it no matter what.
After the car drove onto the boat, Shan Ming grabbed Shen Changze by the collar and dragged him out of the car. He shouted in Chinese at the seemingly empty boat: “The child you want is in my hands. If anyone dares to shoot, I’ll kill him first!”
The child didn’t understand what was going on. But at least he understood Shan Ming’s words. It caused him to feel like he was about to faint. He twisted his body and struggled.
Shan Ming threw him onto the ground and said coldly: “Don’t move.” He stepped on the child’s vest and the muzzle of the MP5 was pressed against the child’s head, “Come out if you have the guts!”
Except for Ayer, the rest of the mercenary regiment couldn’t understand Chinese. They all looked at Shan Ming in surprise, not knowing what was going on at the moment.
After a while, there were steady footsteps on the stairs.
Everyone pointed their guns at the stairs.
At the top of the stairs, a pair of slender legs first appeared. Those legs were wearing dark green military uniforms and shiny military boots. The hem of the white coat fluttered gently with his movement down the stairs.
The person who walked down the stairs was a Chinese soldier. Strictly speaking, he should be a military doctor. He was wearing a neat military uniform and a snow-white doctor’s uniform as the outer layer. His slender waist could be glimpsed through the open front. This person is very young. He should be in his early twenties. He has a fair and delicate face, as beautiful as a fairy boy who has walked out of a classical Chinese painting. He looks ethereal.
The people in the mercenary regiment were all stunned, especially this group of desperadoes who were used to seeing rough men on the battlefield. They never imagined that one day they would encounter such an exquisite enemy who looks like a doll.
Shan Ming frowned, feeling uncomfortable in his heart.
That person started to speak. He said to Shan Ming, “He is only five years old. Please let him go.”
Shan Ming recognized this voice. It was the same voice he heard on the walkie-talkie early that morning. The voice was as cold as a machine, just like the person in front of him, without any emotion shown on his face.
This person is very beautiful but he makes Shan Ming feel repulsed. He gave off a feeling of talking to a dead person.
Job poked Shan Ming with his elbow, “What the hell are you talking about?! What’s going on?!”
Ayer asked in Chinese: “What do you want?”
The man said: “Give me this child and I’ll let you all leave on this ship to the sea.” While he was speaking, more than ten people appeared from the stairs behind him. All of them were armed soldiers, standing there separately from left to right. They were ready to confront the mercenary regiment.
After seeing these people, the child’s eyes widened and he screamed loudly, “They are bad guys! They are bad guys!”

*Translator’s Note: Our second couple’s Uke is here hehe… By the way, I’ve tried to look for a picture of the ‘Eel’ but I don’t wanna put something that I’m not certain of so I’ll just skip it. Sorry. But an ‘Eel’ should be a fuel-saving boat, probably a hybrid that also works electrically. -K
