Shan Ming glanced at the child, “Do you recognize them?”
The military doctor gave Shan Ming a cold look. He then said without any sincerity in his voice, “Little Shen Changze, I’m here to pick you up. Don’t you want to see your parents?”
The child stared wide-eyed at him and opened his mouth to look at the military doctor for a long time. At first, his expression was a little softened. But after seeing the armed special forces around him, he still shouted: “You lied to me! You are bad guys! My mom and Dad were captured by you. They wore clothes like you… those bad guys!”
The military doctor said: “We are not bad people. We can take you home and meet your parents.”
Shan Ming got his feet off of the child. Seeing the dissatisfied faces of those special forces soldiers, he suddenly felt very happy. He patted on the child’s vest and picked him up from the ground.
The child huddled tightly into his arms and wrapped his fleshy hands around his neck. He pressed his face against Shan Ming’s and said in a trembling voice: “They are bad guys, don’t… don’t let them take me away…”
Shan Ming placed his arms under the child’s buttocks and held him with one hand. He waved the gun in his hand with his other hand and raised his chin. He said arrogantly: “Did you hear that? He doesn’t want to go with you.”
The person behind the military doctor called out, “Colonel.” He then whispered something into his ear.
Ayer smiled sarcastically: “Senior Colonel? Did I hear it right? How come a person like you is a Colonel? Have you Chinese people started selling military ranks with money?” The military doctor called the Colonel ignored Ayer, and he ordered it for his own people. He nodded and said to Shan Ming, “This child is very important to us. You were once a Chinese man yourself. If you still have a little respect for your motherland in your heart, please give him to me.”
Shan Ming’s eyes turned cold, “Or you can tell me why he is important to you first? Whose child is he? Otherwise… you really don’t look good. Remembering what you did to our client, If I give you the child, there’s no way we’ll get out of here alive.”
The military doctor said: “His identity is top military secret. No one here will tell you as long as they still have a sense of national honour!”
Shan Ming was indifferent to his sarcasm, “A sense of national honour? I am a person who was abandoned by my parents and the country. I don’t have such a thing.”
“Then I think the only thing that drives you is money. Time is running out. I only have time to prepare eight million dollars in cash. This ship and everything on it will be given to you, as long as you give the child to me.”
Ayer’s eyes lit up.
Shan Ming glared at him, reminding him to restrain himself using his eyes.
The child choked up and shouted: “Baba, I don’t want to go. I don’t want to go. They are bad guys. Baba, don’t let them take me away. Take me with you.” He acted as similar as he did back in that small Burmese village back then. He was terrified of Shan Ming abandoning him. Although Shan Ming is rough and strict and he also never gave him any warmth, the child’s dependence on this ‘foster father’ has been deeply rooted in his heart. Although his current life is not what he wants, he only feels safe when he stays by Shan Ming’s side. He is absolutely unwilling to go with those who arrested his parents. The child knows that only his current father will protect him.
The military doctor’s pupils contracted dangerously and he said coldly, “What did he call you?”
Shan Ming grinned, “Didn’t you get it? He called me his father.”
In the beginning, it was only on a whim that he asked the child to call him ‘Baba’. But after hearing this word being called out to him a lot, it became very useful. When the child called him ‘Baba’ with a soft voice, he had a very high image of himself. The feeling is really good.
Ayer said: “I want to see the eight million cash you mentioned.”
The military doctor said: “Okay. You and I will go down to the cabin.”
Ayer sneered and said: “I am more experienced than you. So don’t play tricks with me and show it to me now.”

Shan Ming knocked on the back of the child’s neck with a strong force. The child fell limply in his arms and passed out. Shan Ming wanted to hand the child over to Pell for her to hold at first. But after thinking about it, he decided to hold him by himself. Pell was too weak after all and it would be troublesome if she was attacked.
The military doctor thought for half a minute before making a decision, “Okay. I’ll go with you.”
“Colonel!” the sergeant said forcefully, “Colonel, our order is to protect you. We cannot let you take risks.”
The military doctor said with a cold face, “One of your orders is also to obey my orders.”
The sergeant gave a military salute, “Colonel, protecting your personal safety is one level above following your orders. Please understand your value to the country. We must ensure your safety.”
“You should also understand the value of this child to the country! Sergeant Yang, the interests of the country are above all else. We should all be prepared to sacrifice for this. Dino laughed loudly. Ayer switched from his playful attitude to looking very serious, “Stop joking around. Koski, Allen, and Buck, you go down to sail the boat. Jim, Dino, and me. We will go down to check on the cabin. The team members began to cooperate with each other tacitly and just as quickly, the smuggling boat left the port.

Ayer displayed a livid face and slapped the young military doctor, “You are so cunning!”
The military doctor raised his head and said calmly, “Your goal has been achieved. Now I am in your hands. As long as you cooperate, you can get more money. Otherwise, you will be regarded as a fugitive by the Chinese government all over the world.”
Ayer narrowed his eyes and said, “What do you mean by this?”
“Tracking down this child is a secret operation. We don’t want to publicise it. But when you openly kidnap government scientists… You know, you won’t be able to go ashore when you arrive in Indonesia. There are countless sea views waiting for you. You will either be arrested or drifted out on the high seas until you die.”
Ayer slapped him again. He then pulled out his dagger and cut a thin long wound along the military doctor’s neck. He said harshly: “You son of a bitch. You better tell me clearly. My Chinese is not that good but I will remember every last word of yours carefully.”
Shan Ming said in a deep voice: “If I’m not wrong, this guy is a national treasure scientist of the Chinese government. Otherwise, with his weak appearance, how can he get the rank of Colonel? We fell for his tricks. He used himself as bait to force the government to chase after us just for…” Shan Ming glanced at the unconscious child in his arms, “Just for a five-year-old child?”
The military doctor was not at all moved by Ayer’s threat and said clearly, “Now you can choose to cooperate with me or we will all die together.”
