Shen Changze gets up at 4 a.m. every morning. His ‘appetiser’ before breakfast is to run 10 kilometres with a weight of 20 kilograms, push up with a weight of 100 volts, squat 100 times with a weight, 200 sit-ups and 50 pull-ups.
Only after finishing these that he can eat. There are also other training arrangements for him after eating.
Although he is only eight years old now, his physical training has been added little by little within the three years or else this level of training would not be enough for an adult recruit. For three days every week, there will be adults who are too idle to accompany him to play close combat. His strikes had become more and more ruthless.
In the past three years, he has never slept in once, never missed a day of training once, and his body has never slack off even once. There are always people around watching him. Slowly, daily training has become a part of his life.
In addition to physical training, he is now proficient in English and Russian. He is currently learning French and Arabic. The knowledge of guns and ammunition has been poured into his head every day for three years, including latent reconnaissance, shooting, sniping, blasting, and combat knowledge in different terrain environments. He also learnt about medicine and all things necessary for survival every day.
As he grows older, his training items will continue to increase. For example, his current height is not enough for him to learn how to navigate cars, helicopters, fighter jets, tanks, boats, and submarines. His psychological quality is also not yet enough to accept cruel torture training. And his physical age is not enough to get anti-drug training. Shan Ming is eager to wait for him to grow up. The child himself is also eager to grow up. He is eager to control his own life.
On this day, Shan Ming, on behalf of Koski’s squad, took two platoons of guards from Congo to do field weight-bearing training. He also brought Shen Changze with him.
An eight-year-old child and those young boys in their early twenties carried the same weight of 20 kilograms, running around the mountain forest non-stop. Shan Ming followed them on a mountain bike, humiliating them with a loudspeaker, “You useless bitches, you are the slowest when you go to the battlefield at such a speed. Look at that kid in the team, you should be ashamed! If you are afraid of hardship, don’t join a mercenary. If you are afraid of death, don’t bother to be born. Or let me shoot you now so you will be free!”
“If one person fails to finish the run within the specified time, the whole team will be punished. If more than one-tenth of the people fail to complete the task, then you all run again collectively.”
“Speed up, you pigs. If you want to prove that your boss didn’t choose you blindly, run the rest of the distance like a man using his legs for the first time!”
They have already run for nearly thirty kilometres intermittently. All of them are sweating and exhausted. They almost had to support each other to move forward. Shan Ming saw that the child was exhausted so he got him into the car with him. The body of a child cannot be compared with that of an adult. If you do sports that exceed your physical limit at one time, your resilience will not be as good as that of an adult and it may cause irreparable damage to your body. Shan Ming knows how to properly train him step by step.
When they circled the forest twice and were still five to six kilometres away from the base, Kali radioed him to come back since he wanted a sketch of his modified Mad Dog tactical knife.
Kali has always liked his modified knife and thought his design was practical and creative. He happened to be going to the United States because of a mission and he was going to find a master who can modify knives. He wanted to modify a sabre according to his own requirements.
Shan Ming didn’t expect him to leave in such a hurry, “I’m still leading the troops outside. How about this? I’ll let the kid go back and bring it to you. He knows where it is.”
Shan Ming asked Shen Changze to unload his body and let him run back to the base by himself so that he could give the sketch to Kali.
Without the weight of 20 kilograms, the journey of five to six kilometres was too easy for the child. He ran to the base with a sense of relief.
The base is surrounded by dense forests and is guarded by four-metre-high walls with high-voltage electricity. The four checkpoints have towers. There are four Gatling six-barreled machine guns hanging on each tower. Fingerprint authentication is required for entry. This mercenary base is like a fortified castle. Even if random people approach it casually, they will be in danger of being smashed into pieces by the machine guns.
When the child walked through the dense forest and the tower of the base could already be glimpsed at a corner, he suddenly smelled the scent of blood.
In the past three years, he had dissected more than a dozen corpses and smelled corpses of various degrees of decay. So, he knew it was the smell of fresh blood.
Holding his breath, the child crouched in the grass. He used his shoulders to drive his body and kicked off using his inner thighs. He crawled towards the source of the smell.
He made little movement as he quickly crawled over. He found Five Dragon bleeding on the grass.
Five Dragon is Japanese. He joined ‘Peregrine Falcon’ two years ago. Five Dragon is short and very lecherous. But he is also very kind. He is one of the few adults who can smile when he sees children.
Seeing that he was covered in blood, the child crawled over with his mouth pursed. He checked him first. He was still alive, but he fell into a coma due to blood loss. There were two penetrating knife wounds on the right of his rib and a piece of meat was cut off from his shoulder blade. His arm was twisted off. It was hanging beside him at a strange angle and all the weapons on his body were looted.
This mercenary base is surrounded by their sphere of influence. Who dares to hurt people at their own door?
The child looked at Five Dragon’s eyeballs. He then patted his cheek lightly, “Five Dragon? Five Dragon?”
Five Dragon didn’t respond to him.
The child decided to quickly run back to the base to ask for help. But just as he put his hands on the ground and was about to jump up, he felt a tremor in his heartstrings. There was a chill inside. It was like a thin snake slithering up his spine.
For some reason, he was born with a premonition of danger.
He couldn’t describe the feeling. He couldn’t see, hear, or smell anything. But he just felt it. He could feel something nearby that is a threat to his life and it sent a chill down his spine.
The child pursed his lips. He lay back down on the grass again and rolled on the spot. He rolled into the nearby grass, away from Five Dragon.
Sweat broke out on his brow. He doesn’t have any weapons in his hand. And even if he has learned a lot in the past three years, he has no actual combat experience. So he was still feeling nervous.
If he had a gun in his hand or even a knife, he wouldn’t be so nervous.
Shen Changze looked around with bright eyes for fear of missing any little detail and let danger approach him easily.
What is it? A wild beast? Or… a person?
The small chirp of the suppressed rifle sounded a metre away from him, telling him the answer.
Immediately afterwards, a shuttle of bullets swept across the grass beside him. It was getting closer to him as it swept.
The child didn’t care about being discovered by the other party. He rolled around on the grass in embarrassment. He didn’t want to wait to be shot at if he didn’t move.
“Don’t move. You can’t dodge during the next round.”
The child didn’t move anymore. The other party already knew of his position and he knew that he really couldn’t escape the next round. The other party’s voice made his heart sink to the bottom. Chills and hatred rushed up from the soles of his feet. This hoarse and unpleasant voice was the voice of Jim!
Jim whispered, “Stand up.”
The child raised his hands above his head and stood up slowly.
Jim froze for a moment when he saw him. He then showed an obscene smile, “It’s you, pretty one. It’s you. Hahahahaha, it’s you.”
Jim looked very bad. There was blood all over his body and his eyes looked lost. It seemed that he had been sniped very violently. He was like a rat that had been beaten but still able to run around.
There was abnormal madness in his eyes, which was looking much more abnormal than usual. He smiled slightly, “Little beauty, since I saw you three years ago, I have been thinking a lot about you. I have known for a long time that sooner or later, one day, I can…” Jim put the gun barrel against Shen Changze’s head and stretched out his other hand to touch the child’s greasy skin.
Jim knew how the little boy had been trained. Though he is under threat, he still had to be on his guard.
There was a flame of disgust in Shen Changze’s eyes but he didn’t dare to move. Jim looked too scary. It was as if he was going to eat him!
Jim squatted down and put his face close to Shen Changze. He sniffed his neck with his nose and then stuck out his tongue to lick his face, “You smell so good. Taste so sweet. Hahaha, if it wasn’t for that bastard Shan Ming, you would have been mine. That’s right, you are now already mine hahahaha.”
The child only felt nauseated. He gritted his teeth and forced himself to calm down.
His father is not here. No one else is here. The only one who can save him is himself.
Jim threw the marching backpack to the ground and couldn’t wait to pull down Shen Changze’s pants. He stroked the child’s lower body with his sinister hands. There was a disgusting smile on his face.
The child’s tears welled up in his eyes, but they didn’t fall. He bit his lip and stared at the AKM rifle in Jim’s hand and the Jungle King sabre on his waist.
Seeing that the child did not resist, Jim thought that the child was frightened and had become stupid. He threw away the rifle in his hand and threw the child to the ground. He stuck out his tongue and licked the child’s face. The child’s eyes were wet with the smelly saliva.
He squinted one eye with his other eye wide open. He bent up quietly and took advantage of his short stature to hook the handle of the Jungle King sabre with his toes and kicked the sabre vigorously. The moment it was unsheathed, the child had already reached out and grabbed the handle of the sabre and aimed to stab at Jim’s vest.
This stab should pierce on the vest, go around the ribs and hit the lungs. It will make Jim unable to speak and could only crawl on the ground in pain. Usually, this is a way to deal with scouts. As long as one hit hits, the person basically won’t be able to move and would die in pain.
The child has long been familiar with this knowledge. But when he really wanted to apply the knowledge to kill a living person, it was more difficult than he imagined.
The smell on Jim’s body and the strong hands that were clamping his waist. The weight and temperature of a person lying on top of him. They told him that this was a real person, not a piece of dead pork for practice or a lifeless corpse.
With such a thoughtless hesitation, Jim had already turned around to avoid the knife. Shen Changze couldn’t help but to not exert his full strength with this knife. He could only stab the back of Jim’s waist, directly piercing the flesh of his waist.
Jim let out a muffled cry. He then pulled out the knife and then grabbed Shen Changze’s right arm. With a strong force and the sound of a click, his arm was dislocated.
The child yelled. He knew that the surprise attack had failed and he had lost his only chance. So he stopped pretending not to resist and began to kick and fight frantically.
Jim didn’t expect to hit the child with such force. The pain of despair and injury in the past few days made him even crazier with killing intent.
The child felt that his breathing was instantly deprived. He couldn’t make any sound from his throat and there was a severe dull pain in his chest. The animality in Jim’s eyes made him terrified. His face became blue and his lips white. The footsteps of death were slowly approaching him. As he approached, a huge chill and fear shrouded him mercilessly.
Just when he was about to lose consciousness, he suddenly felt that everything in front of him turned blood red. The last image imprinted in his mind was that the crazy murderous looks in Jim’s eyes turned into utter fear.
