“Don’t come.”

The few people who had just stepped onto the top floor stopped in their tracks.

Shan Ming took a look and realised what was going on. He broke out in a cold sweat and shouted, “Everyone, stay where you are!”

If someone can set up a bomb near the tarmac, it is possible to set up not only one. Without reckless guests stepping on them and it was Shen Changze who realised the existence of the bomb in time, it should be said that it is a blessing in disguise. Otherwise, once it explodes, he couldn’t imagine the consequences.

The guests running around stopped and looked at Shan Ming nervously.

Slingshot led a few other people to tap the floor tiles with gun barrels for investigation and then brought out the guests one by one, letting them go downstairs with peace of mind. The police have taken over the control of the hotel.

Shan Ming said to Pell, “Let Orais escape first. I’ll take care of the rest.”

Orais sat on the plane anxiously waiting to leave. He really didn’t want to stay in this place for another second. He was already terrified.

Pell exhaled: “You need some tools.”

“I’ll get Slingshot to get the tools for me. You prepare the medical equipment. I think we will definitely be injured”

Pell wiped the sweat off the kid’s face and looked at him seriously, “Trust your father.” And then, without further hesitation, she rushed downstairs to get her gear.

When the helicopter took off, the strong wind caused both of them to squint their eyes, looking at each other from a distance of three metres.

Shan Ming also tapped the floor tiles with the gun barrel, making sure that every piece under his feet was solid. He then walked up to Shen Changze cautiously.

The child pursed his lips tightly, trying to appear calm. But his clenched fists still let Shan Ming see his nervousness.

Shan Ming patted his face, “Don’t be afraid.”

The child immediately said, “I’m not afraid.”

Shan Ming squatted down and took out a small flashlight from his bulletproof vest. He shone the light in through the gap. He was finally sure that what Shen Changze was stepping on was a carefully camouflaged pressure-sensitive plate. Although this looked like just an ordinary floor tile, the slightly sunken gaps and the complex lines of red, green, blue, and yellow wires exposed under the light. Even an ordinary person who often watches police and gangster movies also knows that under such a complicated and sophisticated device, it will definitely not be the trigger switch of a musical fountain.

Shan Ming took out the tool pliers from his vest. He carefully inserted the viewing mirror on the tool pliers along the gap of the pressure sensing plate and saw that it was an advanced and sophisticated K209 small power bomb that is now popular in the world.

This is an extremely poisonous anti-personnel blasting device. Although its power is not fatal at all, the hundreds of diamond-shaped prefabricated fragments installed on the periphery of the explosive can cut into the human body and cause serious injury. It would painfully slid slowly through the muscles.

Imagine being shot in the arm, only to find the shrapnel lodged in the crevice of the shoulder blade. It was an injury that would leave any experienced surgeon at a loss.

Shan Ming took a deep breath. He said to Slingshot through the radio, “Go and prepare puffing coagulants for me as soon as possible!”

The child looked down at the intricate four-colour wires and asked as calmly as possible: “Are you going to cut the wires? Like.. choosing red or the blue one?”

Shan Ming scolded: “You don’t watch those silly movies in the future. How do I know which one to cut? I’m not a bomb expert.”

“Then what are you going to do? And what should I do?”

“All you have to do is keep your mouth shut and your leg still.”

He had been standing in one position for more than ten minutes. He knew that the child’s legs were absolutely stiff but he had to persevere.

The child was silent for a while and said, “Baba, this bomb should not have been left by those Nigerians.”

“That’s right. Those people’s equipment is crude and they don’t look like they have received systematic training. The person who placed the bomb is definitely a professional. He can place the pressure-sensitive plate so exquisitely and perfectly. I think it is at least the work of a bomb expert with formal strength.”

“Could it be with that white guy who tried to kill Orais in the stairs?”

Shan Ming thought about it. Combined with some of the background about Jason Otali that Neo told them before coming here, he said: “It is very likely. Maybe it is the political opponent of the New York State governor candidate that was supported by the company.”

The candidate supported by Jason Otali is part of a war faction. For a weapons company, the world is not peaceful. The country had to deal with lots of enemies in order to make profits. The company invested a large sum of money in this campaign and the other party must also be the same. So they colluded with the Nigeria anti-government terrorists to stop the arms deal and pushed the responsibility for the hijacking of the guests to the company. It is sure to deal a major blow to the candidate that they supported earlier on in the campaign.

Although this is just a guess by Shan Ming, the truth of the matter still needs to be proven. But Shan Ming feels that his guess is almost absolute. If it is true, these politicians really have nothing good going on between them. They will keep selling weapons and killing people. Such a person can disregard the safety of his compatriots for the sake of profit. The human heart is far more dangerous than the battlefield.

Ten minutes later, Slingshot brought the coagulant needed by Shan Ming. After he handed it to Shan Ming, he hid downstairs. Before leaving, he told Shan Ming that the ambulance was downstairs and Pell was at the elevator entrance.

Ayer is leading a man to ambush the vehicle with ammunition, cash, 13 terrorists, and 10 guests. So, he can’t be of much help here. With their identities, it was too embarrassing to ask help from the government. They could only solve the immediate crisis by themselves.

Shan Ming exhaled slowly and gripped the small can of puffing coagulant tightly. He gently inserted the spout of the container into the gap of the pressure sensing plate, “Listen. The puffing coagulant can temporarily freeze your feet so that it stays on the pressure-sensitive panel. You must listen to my command. Once I ordered you to move, you must immediately lean back and then roll to the left.”

Shen Changze looked at Shan Ming’s sweaty forehead. He pursed his lips and shook his head, “Then what would you do? The puffing coagulation machine can withstand the pressure for at most two or three seconds. This type of pressure-sensitive plate probably has additional countermeasures installed in it.”

Shan Ming lowered his head and touched the spout with his fingers. He said in a low voice: “You talk so much nonsense.” After speaking, he squeezed the whole can of puffing coagulant into the gap of the pressure sensing plate without hesitation! When he saw the grey puffed coagulant turn into pure black due to contact with the air, Shan Ming shouted: “Move!”

To Shan Ming’s surprise, Shen Changze didn’t act according to what he said. He instead grabbed his shoulder in vain as he tried to drag him towards the open-air swimming pool on the left rear with all his might.

Before he could swear or move or or even think, Shan Ming hugged the child’s body and rushed towards the swimming pool.

The fragments of explosives are usually erupted at a 35-degree angle based on the horizon. In such an almost unobstructed environment, the only place that can reduce the damage is the open-air swimming pool that is not too close to them.

The bomb detonated with a bang. Hot waves of air mixed with flames chased after their heels. Shan Ming felt the pain of the fragments piercing into his flesh as he held Shen Changze tightly in his arms. He rolled desperately and finally the two fell into the swimming pool together.

The water splashed and the two sank together.

Fortunately, the place where they fell into the water was probably the children’s area, which was shallower than Shan Ming’s knees. Shen Changze struggled to get out of the water, coughing and shouted: “Baba! Are you okay?!”

Shan Ming knew that one of his thighs and waist had been pierced by fragments. He glanced at the blood-stained water. He propped up his upper body but he didn’t dare to move his lower body, trying to keep his waist and legs in the same state. He was afraid that the fragments would scurry around.

Pell and Slingshot had already run over. Slingshot and Shen Changze lifted Shan Ming out of the pool. Pell cut open his pants and shirt. She gave him anaesthesia and removed the shrapnel. Pell looked focused and calm. It seemed she wasn’t overly worried but Shen Changze’s heart was in a mess.

He is so useless. Whether it was five years ago or even now, his foster father was injured  and was pulled back from the death line for him many times. But he couldn’t do anything for him.

The child looked at more than a dozen shocking shrapnel on Shan Ming’s leg. His eyes were stained red with blood.

Too weak… He was really too weak. He was so weak and so useless. When will he be able to protect this man. He didn’t want to always need this man’s protection all the time!
