Shan Ming recuperated in that small village for three days. He has a very strong physical fitness and Job has brought the best medicine. Even though the local doctor he invited is not very skilled in medicine, he managed to stabilise his condition.
On the third day, the people sent by their regiment to fetch them arrived.
Standing in Shan Ming’s room, Shen Changze saw a Hummer driving into the village. Job yelled at them from a distance and the car stopped in the yard. A burly Caucasian man and a woman with dark-brown skin jumped out of it.
The Caucasian man looked about the same as Job. He is in his thirties and has a burly figure. But that woman looked different. Shen Changze had never seen such a coquettish and charming woman.
She was wearing a tight black vest and hot pants that were short to the thighs. She exudes her beauty to the extreme with her tall figure, huge breasts, slender waist and slim thighs. Her hips swayed as she walked, showing her unspeakable wildness.
The villagers looked at her dumbfoundedly.
Job spoke to her affectionately, “Pell, you are here.”
She flipped her long black hair and asked Job using only her deep and beautiful eyes; ‘Where is he?’
Job pointed to the thatched hut in front of them, “Inside.”
Pell pulled out a huge iron box from the car, which seemed to weigh dozens of kilograms. She carried it on her shoulders with ease and walked into the hut.
The child lifted his head to look at her.
Pell frowned and looked at the child. She thought that he was a villager’s child so she didn’t care much about him. If only she paid special attention to the differences between the child and the rest of the villagers, she could tell that he is Chinese instead of Burmese.
Shan Ming sat up from the bed, “Pell.”
The moment Pell saw him, the softness that a woman should have appeared on her face. She walked to the side of the bed, held Shan Ming’s face, and kissed his lips lightly, “I was very worried about you.”
Shan Ming smiled, “I can’t die yet.”
Pell patted his face, got up and opened the iron box. The box was filled with medical equipment and medicines. She said: “I will do some simple treatment for you first. And then we will leave here immediately. The boss is waiting for you to come back.”
Pell is the chief physician of their mercenary regiment. Because of her excellent beauty and excellent strength, she has a very high status in the regiment.
Pell re-opened and bandaged Shan Ming’s wounds which were treated by the local crappy doctor. She then gave him a nutrient solution.
After lunch, Job and the other white man, Koski, planned to move Shan Ming into the car and set off for their temporary base.
However, Shan Ming didn’t want to be carried around like a cripple. He still had one foot intact. Besides, he already had enough food, drink and rest. So he was completely able to walk by himself.
Job left a large sum of money to the villagers and asked them to prepare food and water to be carried in the car.
Although Shen Changze couldn’t understand what they were saying, he could tell that they were leaving. So he followed Shan Ming closely.
Shan Ming took a few steps away and suddenly remembered that there was a child at his feet. So he stopped and looked down at him.
Pell also looked at the child curiously.
Job spoke behind her, “This kid was found by Shan. He is Chinese, just like him.”
Pell blinked and whispered, “Are all Chinese people so beautiful?”
Job shrugged his shoulders and said, “I haven’t seen that many of them, but…” He smiled flirtatiously, “I believe all Amazon girls are as charming as you are.”
Pell stroked his short stubble with a smile and gave him a kiss on the cheek.
The child looked up at Shan Ming, “Uncle, where are you going?”
“Wherever I go has nothing to do with you. Don’t follow me anymore.”
The child’s eyes widened in fear, “Are you going to leave me here?”
“There is food, drink, and human beings here. I won’t send you home. You can figure the rest out yourself.”
The child held on to his thigh. He knew that Shan Ming was serious. The fear of being abandoned filled his little heart, “Uncle, don’t abandon me. I don’t want to stay here.”
He couldn’t understand a word of what the people here said. He didn’t want to stay here. He didn’t want to be abandoned!
Shan Ming tapped the kid’s thigh with a cane as a warning and said, “Let me go.”
“Don’t! Don’t! Uncle, don’t abandon me. Take me with you. I don’t want to be here. I don’t understand what they say. I’m afraid. Uncle, please take me with you.” The child’s tears fell down. All of a sudden, his whole little face was wet and he looked very pitiful.
Pell asked Job, “Is the kid reluctant to be left alone?”
“It should be like that. I don’t understand what he said either. He looks so pitiful.”
Shan Ming said coldly: “I have no reason to take you with me. You are a burden and you have no value to me.”
“Uncle—take me with you, please. Don’t abandon me.” The child was shaking in fear. Although Shan Ming is cruel and fierce, he is the only person who can communicate with him and he even saved him when he was in trouble. Although the child is afraid of Shan Ming, he is full of dependence on him in his heart. If Shan Ming just left him like this, he knew that he would never have a chance to see his parents ever again in his life. So, he tightly held on to Shan Ming’s thigh. No matter how viciously he was threatened, he refused to let go.
Job said: “Shan, does he want to leave with you? Look. How pitiful he is.”
“We are not doing charity. Why should we care about him?”
Even if the child couldn’t understand what they were saying, he could still guess some hesitation in Shan Ming’s tone. He held on to Shan Ming’s thigh like he was holding on to a life-saving buoy. No matter how Shan Ming shook him away, he couldn’t get rid of the child.
He was crying loudly. He was only five years old so the fear of being abandoned made him tremble all over.
The other three members of the mercenary regiment stood aside to watch the fun. They wanted to see what Shan Ming will do in the end.
Shan Ming looked at the crying child stuck to his thigh. He was suddenly in a trance by the scene in front of him for a moment. The image of this child seems to have overlapped with his own image back then.
Ten years ago, he was walking on the edge of life and death like this. And then, he was brought into this bloody world by his foster father. Although he still had to walk on the edge of life and death, he was already strong enough to control his own fate.
However, the fate of this child is in the hands of others and he may never have the chance to become strong and make his own choice between life and death.
So, should he give him a chance? A trace of hesitation flashed in Shan Ming’s heart.
He looked at the child and asked, “Do you really want to come with me?”
The child was out of breath due to crying so much. When he heard this question, he nodded immediately.
Shan Ming showed a cruel smile, “If you want to come with me, I can take you with me. But I will not send you home. From now on, you must live according to the way I tell you to live. Maybe you will be happier if you stay in this village.” Shan Ming warned.
After a pause, he continued, “Do you still want to come with me?”
The child hesitated for a moment but then nodded immediately. He didn’t know what kind of unknown fate was waiting for him, but he knew that if he stayed in this remote village, he would never be able to get out of here for the rest of his life.
Shan Ming snorted and laughed, “Get in the car.”
He got into the car first. The child climbed into the car with difficulty and then slid into his arms skillfully. He curled up into a ball, while wiping his tears. He secretly looked at the other three members of the mercenary group and his little face flushed from crying looked particularly pitiful.
The three members looked at each other.
Without any direct order, they have no right to interfere with the behaviour of other members of the regiment. Whether Shan Ming was allowed to take a child home or not is up for the boss to decide. So, they will not say anything much about this matter.
None of them could ever predict how much impact Shan Ming’s impulsivity would have on them and everyone in the mercenary group.
