DCFRP Chapter 78

Stolen kiss

TL: Hua

Qi Xiaoyu looked away and stood up.

White-browed Hero rolled over and stood up, tilting its head up. Its big, round eyes stared motionlessly at Qi Xiaoyu, as if afraid that if it looked away for too long, it would lose sight of Qi Xiaoyu again.

Qi Xiaoyu felt sorry seeing it like this, so he bent down and stroked it for a while.

His mind wandered back to the conversation he had overheard between Xun Qian and Jiang Jing at the door, and then to other things.

When he signed the divorce agreement, it wasn’t just because Xun Qian had put it in his hands, but also because he had decided to let go and withdraw in time.

But now, four months later, Xun Qian hasn’t developed any relationship with Tang Yuning.

Mao Chi hadn’t gotten what he wanted either.

Time seemed to be telling him that the plot wasn’t as it used to be.

Seeing Qi Xiaoyu get up, Xun Qian also looked away and said to the doctor, “Dr. He, if you’re ready, you can take it to surgery.”

The doctor only then dared to turn his head back and say, “Okay.”

He heard the conversation between Xun Qian and Qi Xiaoyu just now, and it was as if they were a family. Therefore, when he turned to Qi Xiaoyu, his attitude was also very polite: “Sir, can you hand the dog to me? The operating room is inside, you two can go to the waiting room next door and wait.”

White-browed Hero seemed to understand what the doctor said. It stood up on its two hind legs and pawed at Qi Xiaoyu’s legs hard, looking anxious and unwilling to leave.

Qi Xiaoyu patted White-browed Hero on the head and gestured for it to follow the doctor, “Go, I’ll wait for you here.”

Xun Qian also came over to coax it: “I’ll feed you beef jerky when you come out.”

It’s unknown whether White-browed Hero understood Qi Xiaoyu’s words or the words “beef jerky.” It barked a few times towards the sky, reluctantly following the doctor into the operating room.

Qi Xiaoyu and Xun Qian sent it to the door of the operating room.

Inside the operating room, a nurse was disinfecting a pile of surgical instruments.

Qi Xiaoyu looked at the operating table and a pile of professional equipment, and then thought about the incision that would be made in the abdomen and then the removal surgery. He couldn’t help but feel a little worried, more worried than when he had surgery himself; after all, it was such a special position…

Xun Qian seemed to see his worry and said calmly, “It should be fine, I’ve had it checked several times before, and the position has been confirmed.”

The nurse was taking out a bottle of spray and sprayed it a few times at White-browed Hero when Qi Xiaoyu immediately asked, “What’s in that spray bottle? Anesthetic?”

“Yeah, we use the spray first, then give an injection. The last time it was vaccinated, it flapped around so much that it almost hurt the nurse who gave it the injection.”

The two of them chatted about White-browed Hero as if they were discussing a child they were raising together, and both of them couldn’t help but become more talkative.

The surgery lasted about three hours.

After being anesthetized, seeing the doctor put the unconscious White-browed Hero on the operating table, the two went to the next room to wait, led by the nurse at the beginning.

The rest room was decorated very warmly, with a circle of beige sofas surrounding a coffee table, a bouquet of flowers on the coffee table, a television on the wall, and a yellow-toned diamond-shaped carpet on the floor.

Qi Xiaoyu sat on a single sofa, and Xun Qian sat in his wheelchair.

Without White-browed Hero, the two were silent and had nothing to say to each other.

Qi Xiaoyu took out his phone and started to deal with his work.

He had originally made an appointment with Chu He to see the final draft of the script, but now he had to postpone the time. Instead, he asked Chu He to send the manuscript to his phone for a look first and meet up later.

Xun Qian pressed a few buttons on his phone, then lowered his head as if he were closing his eyes to rest.

After about ten minutes, there was a knock on the door, and Xun Qian answered, “Come in.”

Qi Xiaoyu looked up and saw that the person who came in was Zhang Han.

Zhang Han was stunned when he saw Qi Xiaoyu, then showed an expression of understanding. He held a computer bag in his right hand and a thermos in his left. As soon as he came in, he first greeted Xun Qian, then Qi Xiaoyu.

Qi Xiaoyu pulled down his mask with his index finger and also greeted Zhang Han. Although he was staying at the Weihao Hotel, both of them were very busy lately and didn’t see each other much.

Zhang Han was very tactful. After greeting them, he didn’t waste much time. He put the things in his hands down in front of Xun Qian, then said that he still had some work to do and went out. Before leaving, he also said, “I asked two bodyguards to wait at the door outside; if you need anything, just let them know.”

The first meaning in that statement is literal; the second was to ensure that no one would disturb them.

It’s unknown whether Xun Qian understood his implication. He took the computer, then pushed the thermos towards Qi Xiaoyu, saying, “For you.”

Qi Xiaoyu was always too lazy to fret over such things. Besides, what Xun Qian brought was never bad.

He took the thermos, opened it, and immediately a fresh scent of fruit wafted out.

Then, he took a sip. It turned out to be rock sugar, and pear water. The taste was really good; the consistency and sweetness were just right, refreshing the throat.

Xun Qian watched Qi Xiaoyu drink half a cup of rock sugar pear water, then opened his computer and started working.

In the room, there was only a slight tapping sound and the sound of central air conditioning ventilation.

After about an hour, Qi Xiaoyu finished reading all the changes to the script, then leaned on the sofa and fell asleep.

His hand holding the phone slipped down, hanging on the armrest of the sofa. Xun Qian then noticed that he was asleep.

Xun Qian didn’t move, only lifting his eyes, but all his attention immediately shifted from the computer to Qi Xiaoyu.

He remained motionless, just looking quietly, watching Qi Xiaoyu’s occasionally trembling eyelashes, gently closed lips, and the collarbone exposed from the T-shirt collar. If eyesight could turn physical, he would surely carve Qi Xiaoyu into a sculpture.

He watched quietly for a while, and when he was sure Qi Xiaoyu was fast asleep, he finally couldn’t help himself and closed the laptop, gently placing it by his feet, getting up and walking towards Qi Xiaoyu.

The waiting room was covered in thick carpeting.

Xun Qian’s footsteps on the ground made almost no sound.

He took off his coat and covered Qi Xiaoyu with it, then looked down at the sleeping person in front of him, feeling an urge to hug him and squeeze him tightly into his arms.

But he restrained himself. He just watched with his eyes like he did just now, then bent down and leaned his body in Qi Xiaoyu’s direction.

He loved Qi Xiaoyu, but he was also afraid that Qi Xiaoyu would be involved in a nightmare vortex if he was with him, like the horse-riding accident last time.

He had made up his mind several times to stay away from Qi Xiaoyu.

But every time he saw Qi Xiaoyu, longing and desire were like tides, drowning him, making him unable to breathe, and suppressing him.

He carefully examined Qi Xiaoyu’s sleeping face. At first, he kept Qi Xiaoyu because Qi Xiaoyu’s facial features vaguely resembled his sister’s, but now looking again, Qi Xiaoyu was Qi Xiaoyu, and he was even more fascinated.

If he had encountered Qi Xiaoyu, he could have endured and accepted living in the gloom and darkness alone.

But now that he had lived with Qi Xiaoyu, it was particularly unbearable to go back to being alone.

The same villa and servants, but everything looked like it was missing something; even the lawn in midsummer seemed to have a layer of gray shadow.

Xun Qian reached out and wiped Qi Xiaoyu’s lips gently, like a dragonfly touching water, then pinched the tip end of his hair and rubbed it a few times.

Qi Xiaoyu was still asleep, his breathing steady and comfortable.

According to the hotel manager, he had been working very hard recently, often with the lights on until the middle of the night, so he must be really tired.

Xun Qian finished touching it with his hand but still felt that it was not enough. He remembered the time he taught Qi Xiaoyu to smoke, his red ear tips, and his warm breath.

He thought about it, leaned over, grazed his lips very briefly, and pulled back immediately.

It eased his long-suppressed fondness and love a little, but then it seemed to burn even more intensely, like the unmelting maple red in autumn, roaming the sky everywhere, surrounding him.
