DADH Chapter 7

The Dragon’s Abyss is a grand canyon that cuts through the heart of the Lost Forest from west to east.

The canyon is open at both ends, and the abyss in the middle is narrow and unfathomable. The abyss faces west, and there are countless giant dragon lairs in the deepest part. The terrain is dangerous, and giant dragons are patrolling and guarding it all the time, so outsiders should not approach it easily. To the east of the abyss, the canyon gradually widens and the terrain gradually flattens. It connects the outer edge of the Lost Forest, and the mouth of the canyon is connected to a river. With this river as the dividing line, the inside of the canyon is the absolute territory of the dragon.

Because the mouth of the canyon is shaped like the head of a giant dragon, this dividing line is called the mouth of the abyss.

Patrolling the canyon is an inherent order etched into the defiant and untamed dragons, the one enduring and conscious order they uphold.

No one knows why.

There used to be rumors that there was a treasure of a giant dragon hidden under the abyss, so countless adventurers tried to break into the abyss to find the treasure, and in the end, they all went without returning. Now no one dares to approach the abyss anymore.

Even to this day, a group of five dragons takes turns patrolling the canyon. Usually, the eldest dragon leads the group.

At this time, the leading dragon who was leading the young cubs to patrol the canyon was Chi Yan, a scorched black fire dragon flowing with fiery red lava. His dragon scales were originally flame-like red, but as he grew older, the rich fire element accumulated in his body, and his dragon scales were tempered by the flames day and night into a stronger scorched black scale.

Suddenly, a strong breath of death appeared outside the Lost Forest.

Chi Yan, soaring freely over the canyon with the dragons, came to a halt and turned his head, fiery eyes fixed on the abrupt presence.

In the next moment, that presence vanished from beyond the Lost Forest and reappeared at the mouth of the abyss as if through teleportation.

With a flap of Chi Yan’s wings, his speed nearly instantaneous, he intercepted the dark figure at the mouth of the abyss.

The entire body of the figure, even the face, was shrouded in a black cloak. This black cloak was characteristic of the Undead Temple, yet it lacked any rune patterns or markings, possessing an utter and pure blackness. Even the features were hidden beneath the dense black mist.

The aura of death surrounding him was so intense it felt overwhelming.

Chi Yan squinted his eyes, recognizing the visitor. He grew slightly wary, suspending himself in midair, and uttered in draconic speech, “Undead Grand Lich, what brings your presence to our Dragon Clan?”

Clack, clack,” two bone-chilling sounds emerged from beneath the hood as the figure turned toward Chi Yan, the hoarse and desiccated voice of the undead resonating from within the black cloak.

“The calamity has arrived prematurely, and hope…”

“Hope lies within the Dragon Clan,” a gentle voice interjected from the air.

Chi Yan’s gaze shifted abruptly, and where the voice had emanated, a teleportation array lit up. A figure in white robes emerged from the array. The white-robed figure’s appearance was in stark contrast to the black-robed one, a purity taken to its extreme.

After revealing his face, the person in the white robes nodded slightly, offering a gesture of respect to Chi Yan. “General Chi Yan.”

Then a pair of calm eyes slowly turned to the black-robed man on the ground: “It seems that the undead have also foreseen it.”

On the ground.

The Undead Grand Lich raised his head, and the black smoke dissipated beneath the cloak, revealing a fleshless skull of an undead creature. His “dark void” eyes fixated upon the white-robed figure suspended in the air, emitting a strong sense of hostility despite lacking any visible features.

He said slowly with a hoarse voice like broken bellows: “You can’t beat me, go back…”

At that moment, an intangible sensation of scrutiny emanated from the depths of the abyss.

Four naked people were thrown out of the mouth of the abyss.

The five soaring dragons slightly tilted their bodies, gazing towards the depths of the abyss.

The white-robed figure in midair maintained a gentle smile imbued with a holy light on their face. They slowly produced a golden compass and turned, raising their head to look in a certain direction deep within the abyss. Slowly, they spoke, “The God of Light has foreseen the latest future of the continent: Visitors from beyond, the continent’s upheaval, and the sole hope lies with the Dragon Clan.”

“I have been guided by the God of Light to come and unravel the mysteries for the Dragon Clan.”

The black-robed figure also swiftly drew a silver skull staff, “Clack, clack,” turned around to look in the same direction. “I come with the prophecies and gifts of the God of Darkness.”

The two sacred items in their hands radiated extraordinary shades of magic-black silver and holy light gold respectively.

Deep within the dragon’s lair, a pair of amber dragon eyes observed the two individuals for a moment before speaking.

“Enter.”

The airborne dragon Chi Yan’s wings flapped, his claws lifting a black and a white figure as they flew toward the heart of the dragon’s lair.

Sacred Dragon Blood Pool.

Three days later, the dragon egg was put into the small blood pool filled with the holy dragon’s blood again. The breathing golden lines on the surface of the eggshell flickered spontaneously as soon as they touched the holy dragon’s blood, and began to breathe.

The dragon blood flowed madly along the golden breathing patterns, being absorbed by the egg at a much faster rate than before.

This is because, after realizing that the second young master was “underdeveloped”, the giant dragons deliberately opened the formation that helped the newborn dragon eggs absorb dragon blood, to help the second young master absorb dragon blood faster.

As usual, Hesse tapped on the eggshell, and this time, the response from inside was much stronger than before.

He couldn’t help but smile with relief. It was evident that the hatchling’s condition was improving, yet the second hatchling still refused to show itself, consciously hiding.

Thinking of this, Hesse put away his smile, sighed, and turned around with heavy steps.

After alerting the guarding dragon with a gesture, Hesse left the Sacred Dragon Blood Pool and went to meet the visiting Undead Grand Lich and the Divine Emissary of Light.

Before the prophecies of outsiders appeared, the mainland was not as peaceful as it is now, and disputes among various ethnic groups continued.

The Temple of Light and the Undead Temple were once at each other’s throats, engaged in bitter enmity, until a hundred years ago when the prophecies surfaced. Only then did they agree to a ceasefire, each side resting and preparing for the impending disaster foreseen.

Even the tribes within the Lost Forest moved closer to the dragons, driven by the same prophecy.

The Dragon Clan had no prophets and never believed in prophecies. In other words, they have absolute confidence in their strength, and they are never afraid of outsiders from the prophecy.

Even the prophecy about the future emergence of dragon riders was met with contemptuous snorts from the dragons.

The pride of the dragon clan cannot be challenged, and there is absolutely no existence that can tame the dragon and make the dragon bow its head!

Contrarily, it was the Temple of Light and the Undead Temple, who had coveted the Dragon Clan for so long, that didn’t earn Hesse’s full trust.

Hesse didn’t pay attention to the so-called latest prophecy that the two said.

However, the Gods of Light and Darkness were considered by the proud dragons as among the few entities on the entire continent they admired.

Coupled with the ambiguous hints from both of them about the dragon egg, Hesse decided to meet them.

But they want to see the dragon egg?

Don’t even think about it; it was impossible.

On the other side.

Sensing the egg being placed back into the small blood pool once again, Jing Nian became vigilant.

Sure enough, after the dragon outside greeted and left, the little dragon cub climbed onto Jing Nian’s shoulder. It was eager to help him absorb the heat flow.

To prevent being forcibly “drunk” by the little dragon cub again, Jing Nian preemptively caught the little cub and trapped him in his arms ahead of time.

The little dragon cub raised his head in dissatisfaction and kicked Jing Nian with his small feet.

Jing Nian frowned and made a “hiss” sound.

The little dragon cub instantly became obedient in his embrace. It lay on Jing Nian’s thigh, its head raised, all four feet in the air, frozen in position, its round eyes showing a hint of helplessness.

After a while, its small wings shifted uneasily, cautiously lowering its head to see where Jing Nian had been kicked. Yet, it was afraid of hurting Jing Nian again. Its small tail curled up, revealing a nervous and cute demeanor.

Jing Nian suppressed a smile.

Look at you, let’s see if I can’t discipline you!

With a slight pinch of the little cub’s nails, which had become a bit harder but still couldn’t inflict pain, Jing Nian touched its head and directed its tiny claw toward the eggshell. He began educating it.

“All of these are yours. If you distribute them to me, you will suffer from malnutrition and underdevelopment. After hatching, you’ll become a weak young dragon, bullied by other young dragons. Do you understand?”

The little dragon cub blinked in confusion. It could comprehend Jing Nian’s words but didn’t fully understand. How could other dragons dare to bully it?

“Hiss…” Jing Nian suddenly covered the place where he was kicked earlier.

The little dragon cub’s small wings stiffened, and it froze in place. Its big eyes looked up at Jing Nian’s thigh with worry and self-blame.

It extended its tiny claws, wanting to comfort Jing Nian. However, it noticed its own nails.

Through the previous experience, it had already realized that the younger brother was quite fragile. A little carelessness could lead to injuries!

Suddenly, it didn’t know where to place its small claws.

Suppressing a laugh, Jing Nian pressed on the “injured” spot weakly, frowning and earnestly admonishing the bewildered little cub, “Understand?”

The little dragon cub nodded in bewilderment.

“Then start absorbing quickly.”

The little cub looked worriedly at Jing Nian. While Jing Nian weakly furrowed his brows, he also used his eyes to encourage the little whelp.

Immediately, the little dragon cub hurriedly started absorbing the heat flow with all its might.

Once the little cub became fully absorbed…

In a second, Jing Nian fully recovered and then tightly hugged the obediently heat-absorbing chubby dragon cub, silently chuckling like crazy.

The silly little dragon cub is so obedient and easy to deceive, making it incredibly amusing.

However, after a while, Jing Nian noticed that even though the little dragon cub hadn’t assisted in absorbing the heat flow this time, the heat flow behind him seemed to be stronger than the last time it had been passively absorbed.

This wouldn’t do. Jing Nian furrowed his brows and started worrying about the little cub’s growth.

If all this heat flow was absorbed by him, what would happen to the cub’s growth?

And now, the little dragon cub seemed to have entered a focused state that couldn’t be interrupted. At the moment, Jing Nian couldn’t think of a solution and could only wait quietly.

He intended to catch the cub’s attention after it finished absorbing this time.

However, as he waited, the familiar sensation of intoxication returned.

Just when Jing Nian was leaning on the eggshell in a daze and was about to fall asleep, he suddenly heard two muffled sounds.

Jing Nian’s heart jumped inexplicably. He alertly opened his eyes and used the varying intensity of light passing through the dragon egg to observe the outside of the shell.

Two shadows that obviously couldn’t be giant dragons were approaching the dragon eggs.

And this time, there was no giant dragon knocking on the eggshell to say hello in advance!

Thinking back to the two muffled sounds earlier, one idea dominated Jing Nian’s mind: The dragon guarding the nest’s entrance had been ambushed!

Oh no!

Jing Nian shuddered, his consciousness, which was in chaos due to the heat flow, completely woke up.

He abruptly embraced the little dragon cub and warily watched the two figures slowly approaching the dragon egg. His mind began a frenzied brainstorm.

Given the massive size of dragons, even their walking or running would cause the cave to shake. If they were recklessly knocked to the ground, it would definitely cause a tremendous noise—a rumble that could shake the mountains and the earth.

However, just moments ago, there was clearly only a faint sound. This indicated that the two incoming figures must have employed some sort of stealth technique to avoid alarming nearby dragons and sneak into the nest.

Jing Nian didn’t know how far the sound produced by the eggshell could travel, but now, his only option was…

At the risk of exposing himself, he attracted the nearby dragons!

Seeing the two figures approaching the dragon egg, Jing Nian took a deep breath and prepared to scream at the top of his lungs.
