DHWB Chapter 9

Wei Jie had been posing dramatically on the sports field for what felt like forever, and Fang Shucheng was starting to get annoyed.

Fang Shucheng tugged at Wei Jie’s tank top, “Aren’t you tired? Let’s go get something to eat.”

Wei Jie smiled, “Alright, alright.”

Then, as if a thought occurred to him, he asked, “So, what did you think? Feeling a little jealous? Wishing you could shout to the world that this handsome guy is yours?”

Fang Shucheng slowly replied, “Wanna know how I felt?”

Wei Jie’s interest piqued, “Yeah, how?”

Fang Shucheng drawled, “So… em-bar-rass-ing… I—don’t—even—know—that—guy…”

Wei Jie: “…”

Wei Jie gritted his teeth, “Oh, you’re in for it now.”

Fang Shucheng smirked, “Heh.”

Without warning, Wei Jie grabbed Fang Shucheng and dragged him toward a small grove of trees. Fang Shucheng struggled, leaving a trail in the dirt. Wei Jie, fed up, hoisted Fang Shucheng over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes.

“What are you two doing?!” Luckily, Mr. Qin appeared just in time to save Fang Shucheng.

Wei Jie sheepishly put him down, awkwardly rubbing Fang Shucheng’s head. “Just messing around, Mr. Qin. Hello, sir.”

Mr. Qin glared at him sternly, “Stop bullying Fang Shucheng. If I see it again, you’re writing a 3,000-word self-reflection. Got it?”

Wei Jie lowered his head obediently, “Yes, sir.”

Turning to Fang Shucheng, Mr. Qin’s expression softened. “If Wei Jie bothers you again, let me know. Don’t be afraid of him.”

Fang Shucheng replied earnestly, “Thank you, Mr. Qin. I’ll make sure to supervise Wei Jie and stop him from doing anything bad.”

Mr. Qin nodded approvingly, gave them a few more words of advice, and then walked away.

As soon as Mr. Qin was out of sight, Wei Jie asked, “What bad stuff have I done?”

Fang Shucheng shrugged, “I’m done messing around with you. I need to go home and do my homework.”

Wei Jie followed behind him, “So, how’d I do today?”

Fang Shucheng replied nonchalantly, “Eh, just alright.”

Wei Jie insisted, “Didn’t you hear all those girls saying how handsome I am?”

“I heard.” Fang Shucheng’s tone was icy. “Not everyone is as popular as you.”

Whoa, where did this sarcastic tone come from? Wei Jie thought, finally hearing what he wanted. Pleased, he added, “Nah, I’m just okay.” He tried to sound modest.

Fang Shucheng, unimpressed, said, “Get away from me. Your ego’s so inflated, it’s practically floating.”

Wei Jie, unable to resist, grinned mischievously and gave Fang Shucheng’s butt a quick squeeze. “Not as inflated as your butt.”

Fang Shucheng jumped like a startled cat. “What’s wrong with you?!”

Wei Jie flinched at his reaction. “Jeez, why are you so jumpy?”

Fang Shucheng smacked Wei Jie’s chest, “Get lost!”

Just as Wei Jie was about to respond, someone on the street handed him a flyer. Out of habit, he took it, noticing it was an advertisement for a bookstore. The most prominent section mentioned that a previously sold-out book had been restocked.

The title of the book was Occupation, and the cover featured two entangled men, their attire anything but conservative.

Wei Jie: “?”

Fang Shucheng leaned over to take a look, and his eyes widened in surprise. “This book actually got published?”

Wei Jie asked, “You’ve read it?”

Fang Shucheng’s face turned suspiciously red. “No, I haven’t.”

Wei Jie wasn’t convinced. He pocketed the flyer and started dragging Fang Shucheng in the direction of the bookstore. “Let’s go check it out then.”

Despite his protests, Fang Shucheng couldn’t overpower Wei Jie and ended up being pulled all the way to the bookstore.

When Wei Jie finally found the book, it opened up a whole new world for him.

“So, it’s a steamy novel,” Wei Jie commented, raising his eyebrows. “There’s a lot more to do than just kissing… Hey, why are you blushing? Haven’t you already read this? Wow, I didn’t expect you to be so knowledgeable.”

With his embarrassing secret now exposed, Fang Shucheng felt utterly defeated, especially since Wei Jie wouldn’t stop teasing him. By the time they left the bookstore, Fang Shucheng’s expression was blank, his mind clearly elsewhere.

Seeing Fang Shucheng so out of it, Wei Jie suddenly remembered that his parents weren’t coming home tonight. An idea began to form, and he dragged Fang Shucheng back to his house.

It wasn’t until they entered Wei Jie’s place that Fang Shucheng realized he’d walked straight into the wolf’s den. But now that they were inside, it was too late to escape. As soon as the door shut, Wei Jie pushed him against it and kissed him until he was completely dazed.

For the moment, Fang Shucheng couldn’t even remember to scold Wei Jie.

Taking advantage of the situation, Wei Jie carried Fang Shucheng to his bed. With the latter still in a daze, Wei Jie coaxed, “You’ve read so much theory. How about we put some of it into practice now?”
