EMSD Chapter 11

Blood dripped thickly onto the ground as Sun Ye, pale as a ghost, scrambled backward on all fours.

“She… she…” His teeth chattered, unable to form a full sentence.

Seeing Sun Ye’s retreat, the hopeful look in the girl’s eyes slowly darkened. Her raised hand dropped, and blood trickled down her fingertips like rain.

At that moment, the dismissal bell rang.

The girl suddenly covered her face with both hands, her crimson blood staining her scarred face as she let out a muffled, eerie laugh. “Shall we play a game?” she said.

She straightened her back, her fingers anxiously scratching at her face until fresh scratches began to appear. Shuffling toward Sun Ye, she tugged at her lower eyelid, exposing her cloudy eyes as she bent down, glaring into his face.

Sun Ye’s eyes widened, holding his breath. He seemed frozen in place, unable to react.

“Don’t you want to know what Chu Shiyu likes? Just sit on the edge, and I’ll tell you everything.” The girl pointed to the balcony beyond the rooftop’s edge, her voice lowering into a tempting whisper. “Don’t you want to be better? Sit there, and I’ll help you.”

A drop of blood splattered onto Sun Ye’s glasses, as if a bloody haze now clouded his vision.

“I…” Sun Ye was dazed, his expression blank.

The girl leaned in so close their noses nearly touched, her voice growing cold, “Or are you saying you don’t like Chu Shiyu that much?”

There were only two minutes left before Sun Ye was supposed to fall to his death.

Tong Yang set her backpack and coat on the ground, pulling a screwdriver from her bag.

“Sun Ye, I never do anything without expecting repayment. So, you owe me for this—work hard in the future and pay me back.” Tong Yang said, walking over to them. She lowered her gaze to the girl’s grotesque face. “Where are you from?”

The girl grinned, exposing her teeth. “Kill him for me, and I’ll tell you.”

“Does it have anything to do with the time loop?”

The girl tilted her head, her distorted features revealing a hint of malice. “Time loop… why don’t you guess?”

Tong Yang stared at her for a few seconds. “So, it does have something to do with the time loop, but you won’t tell me, is that right?”

The girl chuckled softly, her voice full of mockery. “Who knows? You’re curious, aren’t you? What should I do? I really don’t want to tell you.”

Tong Yang gripped the screwdriver in her hand. Despite having other sharp tools, she felt oddly comfortable using this one. “In about two minutes, you’ll disappear, right?”

The girl didn’t understand what she meant, but before she could react, Tong Yang had already plunged the cross-shaped tip of the screwdriver into her eye.

The scene in front of the girl suddenly dimmed, as if one of her eyes had been covered. Warm liquid trickled down her cheek, and her left eye felt weighed down by something heavy.

Confused, the girl lowered her head, noticing something swaying in her left eye socket. A figure approached her, and instinctively, she looked up. A schoolgirl in a white uniform was gripping something lodged in her eye and forcefully pulling it out.

With a sickening squelch, blood and bits of flesh were yanked out, staining the girl’s uniform.

Finally, the girl saw clearly—it was a blood-soaked screwdriver.

Sun Ye was paralyzed with terror, his entire body trembling. He could only watch as blood splattered everywhere, unsure if Tong Yang or the girl with the pierced eye was more terrifying.

“What… are you doing?” the girl asked in a dazed, hesitant tone.

Tong Yang walked over to Sun Ye and wiped the bloody screwdriver on his clothes. “Since you’re not from this world, killing you doesn’t matter, right?”

The girl reached out, catching the blood dripping from her face, disbelief twisting her expression. “You dare to kill me?”

Tong Yang snickered. “Don’t underestimate the grudge of a senior student. Weren’t you the ones who started bothering me? What’s happening on June 7th—doesn’t that involve you too?”

The girl was so stunned she didn’t react immediately, as if the pain hadn’t even registered. “You… you want to kill me? But I’m your classmate…”

“Is that so? I don’t recall having a classmate like you.”

The girl’s shock morphed into rage. Her lips pressed into a thin line as she glared venomously at Tong Yang, her fingers clawing at the air. She lunged at Sun Ye, grabbing his hair and pulling him up from the ground.

“Damn it! Damn it! Die! Die! Die!”

“You worthless trash! You should all just die!”

Sun Ye seemed to be in shock. His eyes were vacant as the girl dragged him toward the railing, pinning his body against it.

“Didn’t you say you liked her? Can’t you die for her?”

“Garbage! Scum! Die!”

The girl’s crazed expression grew more frenzied as she pushed Sun Ye over the edge. He seemed too shocked to fight back.

Tong Yang stabbed the girl in the back, but it didn’t stop her. Like the robber from that fateful night, the girl’s only focus was on Sun Ye—she wouldn’t rest until he was dead.

“Sun Ye!” Tong Yang shouted, grabbing onto his shirt and pulling him back just as he was about to tumble over the railing. That’s when she realized Sun Ye’s eyes were glazed over, his consciousness seemingly absent.

“Get lost!” the girl shouted, shoving Tong Yang away. Her face twisted in fury. “If he dies, you’re next! Anyone who gets in my way must die!”

“No, you’re the one who should die!” Tong Yang’s teeth clenched in frustration. If Sun Ye fell, it would cause a commotion, and she’d be implicated. If the girl vanished afterward, she’d be framed for his death.

Swearing under her breath, Tong Yang yanked the screwdriver out of the girl’s back, gripped Sun Ye’s shirt tightly, and plunged the screwdriver into the girl’s skull from under her chin.

There was a sickening squelch as warm blood splattered across Tong Yang’s face. The girl’s eyes widened in shock, her hands clutching at her chin as she staggered back, her legs giving out beneath her. She collapsed onto the ground, blood quickly pooling around her.

Ignoring the mess, Tong Yang knew the girl was as good as dead. She grabbed Sun Ye and pulled him back onto the roof.

Sun Ye was pale, his body curled up on the ground, trembling with cold sweat pouring down his forehead. His eyes were wide open but unfocused, as if his mind was trapped somewhere else.

Tong Yang frowned, slapped him twice, but he didn’t react.

With no time to waste, she turned to the kneeling girl. Her once fierce gaze was now dull and lifeless, blood pouring over her like a deluge.

“You dare kill me…” the girl muttered weakly.

Tong Yang kicked her shoulder, furious. “Why wouldn’t I? You’re not some superhuman monster. Did you think you could do whatever you wanted?”

The girl’s remaining eye was filled with hatred as she glared at Tong Yang. Her body collapsed backward as her life slipped away.

At the same time, the blood she had spilled on the ground began disappearing at a visible rate.

Tong Yang exhaled in relief. It would’ve been a nightmare if the body hadn’t vanished.

“Ahhhh!!!” A scream of terror suddenly rang out behind her.

Tong Yang turned to see Sun Ye, drenched in sweat, sitting up. His pupils slowly regained focus as he clutched his clothes, his body trembling uncontrollably.

“How are you feeling?” Tong Yang asked, wiping the blood from her face and crouching beside him.

Sun Ye blinked at her in shock. His glasses were shattered on the ground, and clear tear tracks ran down his cheeks. His entire expression was filled with fear as if he’d just witnessed something far beyond comprehension.

“I… I died! I was pushed off the roof…” Sun Ye stammered, struggling to breathe.

Tong Yang raised an eyebrow, gesturing toward the still-disappearing body. “By her?”

Sun Ye followed her gesture, and the blood-soaked scene caused him to tremble. The events of a few minutes ago rushed back into his memory.

“Tong Yang… what’s going on? I remember dying! I fell right in front of you, I was pushed! Why am I… still here?”

“I was worried you wouldn’t remember to repay me, but it’s good you do.” Tong Yang replied, annoyed by the blood covering her. “Yes, you fell and died right in front of me—brains splattered everywhere. Your parents were devastated when the police told them. By some fluke, I got sent back ten minutes before your death. I saved you so you could pay me back for it by working hard. Oh, and to find out where these people come from.”

“Understand?”

Sun Ye shook his head, stunned. Her explanation was beyond belief, yet his death felt too real to be an illusion. Could this all be a hallucination instead?

Tong Yang clicked her tongue in irritation, walking over to him and slapping his face hard.

The sharp sound and the sting on his cheek snapped Sun Ye back to reality. “This… this isn’t a dream?”

“Quit talking nonsense.”

Sun Ye rubbed his burning cheek. “But… that time loop you mentioned…”

“Don’t you remember?” Tong Yang sighed. “Because of the time loop, I was able to come back ten minutes before you died.”

“I saved you, so now you have to work hard to repay me. Get it now?”

Sun Ye nodded blankly. “I-I understand… but what about her? Won’t we go to jail…?”

“No, she wasn’t human. Or at least, not a ‘person’ from this world.” Tong Yang explained, then paused before continuing, “Once her body disappears, we’ll leave.”

Sun Ye adjusted his broken glasses, finally noticing that the girl’s body was slowly fading away.

Tong Yang pulled out her phone and opened the “Melon Eating Netizen 007” group chat, tagging a few members:

[Is the June 3rd, 2024 suicide case still there?]

[Huh???]

[Let me check]

[I still haven’t fully accepted that you’re from 2024… help me…]

[It’s gone! That news article is gone again!]

[Whoa, seriously? It’s really gone!]

[Sis, what did you do this time?]

Study for the Money: [Guess.]

[Come on, don’t tease us!]

[Pleeaaasee!!]

[Give me some excitement in my boring life!]

Tong Yang thought for a moment, then snapped a picture of the half-disappeared corpse and sent it to the group.
