Fawn Chapter 1.10

10

No one had ever approached shou and offered to take him to dinner. Shou was both frightened and nervous, and these emotions haunted him until the afternoon after the high school student left.

At half past five, the high school student appeared in the supermarket.

Shou hadn’t finished his work, but the high school student kept looking at him. Hence the shou was blushing, his fingers were shaking, and he was almost afraid to look up at the high school student.

The high school student was clearly not talking. But his presence was too strong to be ignored, not to mention the fact that his eyes were on the shou the whole time.

The shou heard his own rapid heartbeat. He was nervous and panicked. The cool air conditioning didn’t help, and a thin layer of sweat broke out on his back.

When he finally straightened up and raised his eyes, he ran directly into the focused and simple eyes of the high school student. His heart skipped a beat, and he unconsciously moved his eyes and whispered, “Wait for me for a moment.”

The high school student nodded, “Okay.”

Shou changed out of the overalls, took off his hat, and drank most of the water in his glass before his nerves eased a little. But once he reached the door, his heart stood up again.

He pursed his lips and simply walked out like he was on a guillotine.

The high school student was waiting for him at the counter of the supermarket, and when their eyes met, he said, “Let’s go.”

Just as the sun was about to set and the scorching heat eased, the shou followed the high school student out of the supermarket, and there was an ice cream bar in front of them. Shou blinked, and he raised his head to look at the high school student. His face was expressionless, but his pitch-black eyes reflected the shou’s appearance of being at a loss.

He was in a daze. The high school student frowned and said, “Isn’t it hot?”

“……Oh,” The shou curled his fingers, took the cold ice cream, and whispered, “Thanks.”

The high school student looked at the street lights that were lit up one after another on the side of the street and said nothing.

Shou looked at the ice cream in his hand. The milk cake1 was wrapped in chocolate chips, which was refreshingly cool. He glanced at the back of the high school student and licked his mouth carefully. It was sweet and cold.

The two walked one after another, and the high school student asked the shou, “What do you want to eat?”

Shou, “……Any, Anything is fine.”

High school student, “……”

He slowed down, and the two of them unknowingly changed to walking side by side. In the heat of the day, the ice cream was not heat-resistant, and it started to melt after a few bites. The sticky, milky white juice dripped on the back of the shou’s hand.

Shou subconsciously stretched out the tip of his tongue and licked it. Then, thinking of something, he met the eyes of the senior high school student and wiped the back of his hand in embarrassment. But the more he wiped it, the more the ice cream melted. The whole person became flustered and ill at ease. His cheeks became red. The high school student took the ice cream in his hand and said, “Don’t eat it anymore.”

The shou was speechless.

The high school student was also a little annoyed, thinking: What kind of ice cream should I buy.

He bought a bottle of clean water and said to shou, “Stretch out your hand.”

Shou felt extremely flustered, his mind was full of thoughts of fleeing home, and his movements became sluggish. The high school student grabbed his fingers and the water dripped out of the bottle and dripped onto the back of Shou’s hand.

The shou quivered as if he had woken up from a dream, and looked at the high school student’s stern face. His throat moved but somehow he wasn’t moving. He just rubbed his fingers vigorously.

The water flowed between the shou’s thin and white fingers, and they flushed red due to being rubbed so hard.

The water trail winded into flowers.

The shou heard the high school student ask him, “Do you abstain from certain foods?”

Shou, “No……No.”

The high school student asked, “Can you eat spicy food?”

The shou said in a low voice, “Yes.”

The high school student looked up and said, “Let’s just go there.”

Shou followed his gaze and saw that it was an open-air food stall, doing evening business. Tong sui2sweet soup, barbecue3, midnight snacks, red and blue plastic chairs; and steaming hot smoke. It was still early and there were only two or three tables of customers and they were talking and laughing in the local dialect. It was oozing with a smoky atmosphere.

Before shou could say anything, he heard the high school student add, “If you don’t like it, we’ll go somewhere else.”

Shou immediately shook his head and nodded, “No, no need. This is fine.”

The high school student said, “They’ve been open for many years, and it’s not bad.”

Shou looked at the high school student, and the high school student staggered his eyes a little uncomfortably. Shou rubbed his fingers subconsciously. The fingers that had been rubbed by the high school student seemed to still have his scorching body temperature, and they became inexplicably hot.
