When Wei Ruxia returned, she didn’t notify Yang Shuru. When Yang Shuru opened the door and saw her son and daughter-in-law, she exclaimed in surprise, “Oh my!” Wei Ruxia smiled and called out, “Mom.”
Her relationship with Yang Shuru was very close, not only because she had taken care of her for two years in high school but also because Yang Shuru treated her like her own. Just as she finished calling out, Yang Shuru opened her arms and hugged her, then looked at her face, feeling a little distressed, and said, “You’ve lost weight.”
Filming is tough, following the crew around, eating and drinking with them, and often staying up late is normal to get thin. But Wei Ruxia is very healthy, so being thin is nothing to worry about. Wei Ruxia pinched her cheek and said with a smile, “I’ll gain weight back after staying home for a few days.”
After she said that, Yang Shuru patted her head and said with a smile, “That’s right, Uncle Li introduced a cook who specializes in northern cuisine a few days ago. She’ll cook for you today. You’re staying tonight, right? When will you start filming again?”
Yang Shuru’s family has the same taste as Luo Tang, only Wei Ruxia eats northern cuisine. The cook was specially hired by the Luo family for Wei Ruxia. She looked at Yang Shuru and felt warm inside. With Luo Tang holding her waist from behind, they entered the house. Wei Ruxia said as she walked, “Stay for a while, until mid-October, I can stay at home for more than twenty days.”
Staying at home for so long, Luo Tang was the happiest. Yang Shuru glanced at her son and winked at him. Yang Shuru had a mischievous personality, and even though he was almost thirty years old, he was still playful. Luo Tang was accustomed to this kind of communication with his mother, he blinked his eyes, and chuckled softly.
“Who’s staying for more than twenty days?” A childish voice came from upstairs as the three of them were talking.
Wei Ruxia looked up as she entered the house and happened to see Luo Shi’an looking down from the top of the stairs with her feet propped up. Luo Shian’s features had matured a bit more, and both siblings had finely sculpted facial features. However, while Luo Tang was reserved, Luo Shian was more outgoing, blending cuteness with a touch of boldness.
Upon seeing Wei Ruxia below, a spark lit up in Luo Shian’s eyes as she exclaimed, “Sister-in-law!”
Ignoring her grandmother’s calls from behind, she dashed downstairs at lightning speed and crashed into Wei Ruxia’s arms. Despite being slender, Wei Ruxia was tall with long legs and strong arms. She effortlessly lifted Luo Shi’an off the ground, embracing her tightly.
Luo Shian held onto Wei Ruxia, her young mind spinning quickly. With a sweet voice, she leaned against her cheek and confessed, “Sister-in-law, I miss you so much, I love you, and I want to play with you~”
“Grandma~” Wei Ruxia reached out and patted Luo Shian’s back. Despite their age difference, they shared a close bond, akin to that of a mother and daughter. Wei Ruxia felt that having a child made her understand Luo Shian’s feelings more deeply.
She first greeted her Grandma and after receiving a response, Wei Ruxia smiled and said, “I miss An’an too.”
As soon as Luo Shian, the little rascal, heard Wei Ruxia say this, she immediately lifted her furry head, blinked her big eyes, and looked at Luo Tang behind her, asking, “What about big brother? I miss big brother. Does big brother miss me?”
When Luo Tang used to come back, Luo Shian would always run into his arms first, but since Wei Ruxia came along, she seemed to prefer being held by her. Luo Tang didn’t feel jealous of being neglected; he just reached out and patted his sister’s head, replying, “Hmm.”
With responses from her brother and sister-in-law, Luo Shian set the stage and buried her face in Wei Ruxia’s neck, saying to Yang Shuru, “Mom, both brother and sister-in-law miss me, and I miss them too. I don’t want to leave them. Can I not go to kindergarten today?”
The little one is clever, but also straightforward. Whatever she wants to say, everyone actually understands. As soon as she finished speaking, everyone exchanged smiles. Wei Ruxia smiled the most brightly. She patted Luo Shian’s back and comforted him softly, “But your kindergarten friends also miss you. Brother and sister-in-law will stay home today. We’ll take you to school and pick you up in the afternoon, okay?”
Knowing that there’s no escaping school today, Luo Shian pouted and rubbed her face against Wei Ruxia’s neck, whispering softly, “Okay then.”
The soft “Okay then” from the little one’s sweet voice made Wei Ruxia’s heart melt a bit, almost agreeing to let her skip school. But skipping school when you’re little isn’t a good habit. Wei Ruxia took a deep breath, holding both Luo Shian and Luo Tang, and said, “Let’s go.”
Luo Tang took the backpack handed over by grandma, opened the door, and walked out. Wei Ruxia continued to hold Luo Shian as they, the young couple, went to take their little sister to school.
Today, it was Luo Tang and Wei Ruxia who took Luo Shian to school. Although Luo Shian didn’t want to go to school, she was still quite happy on the way there. When it was time to say goodbye to Wei Ruxia and Luo Tang as she entered the kindergarten, she felt a bit upset. However, after Wei Ruxia assured her that she would come to pick her up in the afternoon, her face lit up again with a bright smile.
After Luo Shian entered the kindergarten, Wei Ruxia and Luo Tang didn’t leave immediately. They stood there, feeling a bit empty inside after seeing Luo Shian off. Wei Ruxia carefully peered through the kindergarten classroom’s glass window, where Luo Shian was, for a while longer.
Luo Tang stood behind her, watching as she tiptoed slightly. He reached out and gently grabbed her waist. Wei Ruxia felt ticklish and lowered her heels, turning to look back at Luo Tang. She smiled and said, “Stop teasing.”
Luo Tang withdrew his hand and held hers with his right hand. Wei Ruxia’s heart warmed at his touch, and her face blushed slightly.
“I can already feel what it will be like when our children go to school in the future,” Wei Ruxia, held by Luo Tang, said as they walked out of the kindergarten gate, expressing, “No wonder there are so many parents peeking through the gates and windows at the kindergarten.”
Sending little children to school, one can’t help but feel a bit worried and melancholic.
“This is the first separation between parents and children,” Luo Tang said. “Children will eventually leave.”
Upon hearing Luo Tang’s words, Wei Ruxia smiled. As they reached the car, Wei Ruxia asked, “Then who won’t leave?”
Opening the car door, Wei Ruxia got in, while Luo Tang leaned on the car door with his right hand, bending down to look at Wei Ruxia, and said in a deep voice, “What I am to you, and what you are to me.”
The man stood in the sunlight, its halo enveloping his body, rendering him charming and radiant. Wei Ruxia looked up and down at his ink-black eyes, her eyelashes fluttering slightly. With each flutter, she felt her heart skip a beat.
Wei Ruxia smiled, feeling incredibly content.
In the afternoon, Wei Ruxia and Luo Tang lived up to their words and personally came to pick up Luo Shian. Luo Shian happily darted towards them, like a little swan, eventually ending up in Wei Ruxia’s embrace.
After settling Luo Shian into the child seat in the back, Wei Ruxia also sat beside her. Luo Shian’s reluctance to go to school mainly stemmed from not being accustomed to leaving home. However, after a few days, she had gradually adjusted. While in the car, she chattered away with Wei Ruxia about her day at the kindergarten, sharing every detail enthusiastically.
Luo Shian talked about the new friends she made at the kindergarten, especially animatedly about one boy named Qi Di. She said, with great excitement, “There’s a boy named Qi Di, and we get along really well! I really like him.”
Listening to Luo Shian’s words, Wei Ruxia recalled what Luo Tang had said in the morning. She glanced at Luo Tang, who happened to be looking back at her, and they exchanged a smile.
“Brother, focus on driving well and don’t eavesdrop on our girls’ conversation,” Luo Shian said, lifting her head to speak to her brother.
Luo Tang lightly acknowledged and turned his head back. Seeing her brother turn back, Luo Shian leaned over to Wei Ruxia’s side, covering her mouth with her little hand, and whispered in her ear, “He looks really handsome~”
“Oh really?” Wei Ruxia asked in surprise, smiling.
“Yeah yeah,” Luo Shian said, nodding her head confidently.
Wei Ruxia’s smile deepened gradually.
When they returned, in the evening, at the Luo residence, they were preparing to make tangyuan. Wei Ruxia, now a daughter-in-law of Ancheng, had excellent skills in making tangyuan. Luo Tang was also helping beside her.
The family worked quickly together, and after finishing, Wei Ruxia and Luo Tang went to wash their hands. Standing at the sink, Wei Ruxia smiled and said to Luo Tang, “Do you know what An’an said to me in the car?”
Turning on the tap, Luo Tang washed his hands first. He looked up at Wei Ruxia and said in a deep voice, “I love you.”
The sudden confession made Wei Ruxia’s heart flutter. The sound of rushing water echoed in her ears, and her mind momentarily froze. Her throat went dry, and she smiled, saying, “I’m serious with you.”
Before she could finish, Luo Tang smiled and leaned in to kiss her. The gentle touch of his lips sent a shiver through Wei Ruxia’s body, and her mind went completely blank.
“Sister-in-law,” came the voice of Luo Shian from outside.
Wei Ruxia’s eyes widened. She reached out and pinched Luo Tang’s waist, turned her face away. At the instant the two separated, Luo Shian came in.
The tense and ambiguous atmosphere in the air had not dissipated yet. Luo Shian looked at her brother and sister-in-law, unsure of what had just happened, and only asked, “Mom asked me to ask you what dish you’d like tonight. She asked Auntie to cook.”
“Anything is fine,” Wei Ruxia’s face felt warm. She leaned down, wanting to touch Luo Shian’s little cheek, but remembered her hands still had flour on them, so she refrained.
“Okay~” Luo Shian received Wei Ruxia’s response and prepared to inform their mother. As she lifted her head, she noticed her brother standing beside her and remarked, “Brother, your clothes are dirty.”
Wei Ruxia turned her head and saw the flour she accidentally got on Luo Tang’s clothes when she pulled him. She looked up, about to speak, but Luo Tang took her hand and turned on the tap, saying to Wei Ruxia as she washed her hands, “It’s your sister-in-law’s doing. Later, let her change my clothes.”
The icy water flowed over the palm of her hand, while the back of her hand was enveloped by the warmth of the man’s palm. Wei Ruxia smiled and said, “Handle your own affairs.”
Unperturbed, the man washed her hands clean, then placed them under the hand dryer. He whispered, “You made the mess, so naturally, you’re responsible.”
After washing their hands, the two returned to the room. Just as they entered, Luo Tang embraced Wei Ruxia again, resuming the kiss they had shared at the sink. Wei Ruxia smiled and hugged him back. Luo Tang simply lifted her up and carried her into the closet.
Young bodies are always quick to ignite. Wei Ruxia’s body was stirred by desire, yet she found herself unable to resist Luo Tang. Eventually, she was gently supported by Luo Tang’s hands against the closet.
Wei Ruxia’s breathing became erratic, her hands clutching Luo Tang’s neck as she tilted her chin up, eager to kiss him. With a gentle kiss, the man’s voice was so low and husky it was almost mesmerizing.
“Be careful, your candy’s hardened.”
Upon hearing these words, Wei Ruxia immediately withdrew, about to run away, but before she could flee, Luo Tang pulled her back, kissing her again. Soon, the two found themselves entwined on the carpet in the closet.
Wei Ruxia felt firsthand that Luo Tang’s earlier words were genuine. She was somewhat dazed, holding onto Luo Tang, feeling his teeth lightly nibbling at her ear. She forced herself to be rational, reminding softly, “We’ll have dinner soon.”
This was their parents’ house, not their own, and they couldn’t act as freely as they would at home.
Luo Tang’s gaze was intense as he leaned over, looking down at Wei Ruxia beneath him. After a while, his eyes gradually cleared. Rising to his feet, he lifted Wei Ruxia from the ground and gave her a gentle kiss, devoid of any hint of passion.
“Let’s eat first,” he said.
Wei Ruxia chuckled softly in response.
