Feed You Sweets

FYS Chapter 56

The day after Hu Yinyin gave birth, Wei Ruxia also went to the hospital. In the afternoon, when she arrived at the hospital, Han Junsong’s mother was packing up Hu Yinyin’s things, while Hu Yinyin was holding the baby and breastfeeding.

Hu Yinyin was slightly plump, with a rosy complexion, looking particularly youthful. Even though she was married, she still behaved like a child, always chattering away. However, today, Wei Ruxia looked at her holding the baby, feeding, her hair only tied in a low ponytail behind her, her bangs slipping down, sunlight pouring over her, as if overnight, Hu Yinyin had transformed into an adult.

Wei Ruxia smiled, feeling truly amazed.

When she just entered the room, Hu Yinyin looked over. The little one in her arms had finished drinking, so she didn’t feed anymore. Her movements while holding the baby still seemed awkward, but every gesture was cautious, as if she was cherishing her precious little one.

After exchanging greetings with Hu Yinyin, Wei Ruxia had already approached quietly to where Hu Yinyin and the baby were. The little one, who was pink yesterday, seemed a bit different today. His eyes were still closed, and his mouth was moving as if he were nursing, opening and closing like a little goldfish.

“So adorable,” Wei Ruxia said sincerely.

Hearing others praise their daughter naturally brought joy to the parents’ hearts. Hu Yinyin looked down and couldn’t help but gently kiss her daughter’s forehead. With insincere words, she said, “She looks ugly now, all wrinkled. No wonder my colleagues said right after giving birth they wanted to throw their babies away, they’re too ugly. I feel the same.”

“Then throw her to me,” Wei Ruxia followed up teasingly, “I think she looks cute.”

“Hmm,” Hu Yinyin hummed twice before smiling and saying, “That won’t do. Giving birth to her was so painful for me. Not only me, but her dad also suffered.”

As soon as Hu Yinyin finished speaking, Mrs. Han, who was packing up, also chuckled. Hearing her laughter, Hu Yinyin felt a bit embarrassed and explained with a smile, “Experience makes perfect. I won’t be like this next time.”

Mrs. Han didn’t mind at all, folding the small clothes in her hands, she smiled and said, “Junsong should and must take care of you. Otherwise, seeing you in pain, he’d feel uneasy too.”

At this mention, Hu Yinyin stuck out her tongue and chuckled. Honestly, she didn’t suffer much when giving birth. It only took two hours. Han Junsong was with her the whole time, caring for her attentively. They say you should also observe your husband’s attitude during childbirth. Seeing Han Junsong’s attitude, Hu Yinyin felt she married the right person.

“Oh, have you chosen a name?” Wei Ruxia looked at Hu Yinyin giggling foolishly and poked the baby’s little finger with her finger, all soft and squishy.

“We have, we’ve chosen a nickname first, calling her Xiaobei.” It was Hu Yinyin who came up with the name, and she explained to Wei Ruxia, “It’s Xiaobei from Rou Song Xiaobei1In Chinese, “Rou Song” refers to a type of shredded dried pork; “Xiaobei” is likely a playful addition to the term, possibly suggesting a small or cute version of the shredded meat concept..”

Wei Ruxia couldn’t help but laugh. It was indeed Hu Yinyin’s style, the whole family named after food.

When Wei Ruxia laughed, she reached out and gently poked the little one. Seeing her cautious demeanor, Hu Yinyin handed her daughter over, smiling, and said, “You hold her.”

“Oh, I’m a bit afraid.” Wei Ruxia jumped in surprise, but only dared to place her hand under Xiaobei’s body, not daring to pick her up.

“There’s nothing to be afraid of,” Hu Yinyin said with a smile, directing Wei Ruxia, “First, open your arms, yes, cradle her bottom and legs with your arms, and use your other hand to support her head.”

Hu Yinyin already had the demeanor of a seasoned mother. She guided Wei Ruxia, and in the end, watched as Wei Ruxia held the little one in her arms.

“Xiao Bei is not shy. Some babies cry when they’re away from their mothers,” Mrs. Han said, smiling as she watched her granddaughter.

“Shy,” Hu Yinyin corrected, looking at Wei Ruxia. “It’s normal for Xiaxia to hold her because I like Xiaxia, so my daughter likes her too. Right, Xiaxia?”

Hearing Hu Yinyin’s words, Wei Ruxia felt a warm sensation inside and nodded with a smile. Her arms spread open, cradling the baby in her arms, like holding a bundle of cotton.

“Light and fluffy, like cotton, but heavier than cotton, and as soft as cotton, with a scent of milk all over, especially comforting,” Wei Ruxia said as she cooked dinner, watching the soup in the pot while talking to Luo Tang.

As she finished speaking, Luo Tang walked over, resting his chin on her shoulder and leaning in to kiss her. Their lips met briefly, and Wei Ruxia’s smile deepened as she turned to look at Luo Tang. His eyes curved at the corners as he asked, “What about you? Are you soft?”

“I didn’t feel it,” Wei Ruxia said with a hint of ambiguity, her face slightly flushed, unsure if it was from the steam rising from the pot or for some other reason.

Leaning against the kitchen counter, her body was about twenty centimeters away from the stove, while Luo Tang stood behind her, pressing his body against hers, aligning her with his gaze. Catching the smile in Wei Ruxia’s eyes, Luo Tang supported himself with both hands by her side and leaned down to kiss her.

This kiss was much longer and more delicate than before, like a gentle spring rain, fuzzy and tickling as it dripped onto the heart, carrying a budding restlessness.

Wei Ruxia’s body gradually softened, her voice trembling slightly as her lips and teeth tangled with Luo Tang’s, her words slightly blurred.

“There’s still soup…”

Luo Tang paused for a moment, stars swirling in his eyes. Wei Ruxia hadn’t eaten much for lunch, but dinner was essential. He stopped his reverie, lightly kissed her on the forehead, and as they separated, the sticky sweetness was diluted.

Occasional kisses between them were not uncommon, something Wei Ruxia had long grown accustomed to. After they parted, Wei Ruxia turned off the soup, served it up, and they went to have dinner together.

After just finishing dinner, Wei Ruxia received a call from her assistant. She set down her spoon, grabbed her phone, and headed to the living room. Meanwhile, Luo Tang leisurely finished the last sip of soup, tidied up the table, and went to the kitchen to wash the dishes.

“The Breeze Helps the Moon” has been nominated for the New Director Award at the Siong Film Festival, Wei Jie, you’ve been nominated!” Wei Ruxia’s assistant, nicknamed Xiao Pang, a lively girl, was thrilled to the point of near frenzy upon receiving the news from the film festival, and immediately contacted Wei Ruxia.

This is Wei Ruxia’s first work. Being nominated for the New Director Award is not only recognition of her ability but also the first step towards success. Wei Ruxia’s excitement is no less than Xiao Pang’s. She hesitated for a moment and smiled, saying, “Is it true?”

“Yes, it’s true!” Xiao Pang exclaimed twice, then forwarded the message from the film festival’s jury to Wei Ruxia. As she forwarded it, she said, “Sis, take a look for yourself. Not only the emerging directors, but also the male lead and female supporting roles are nominated, including Li Wen. Congratulations, Wei Jie.”

“Thank you.” Wei Ruxia’s heartbeat became irregular as she looked at the message, smiling and expressing her gratitude.

Having finished washing the dishes, Luo Tang dried his hands with a kitchen towel and walked into the living room. He stood beside Wei Ruxia and was reaching out to touch her face.

Wei Ruxia had already hung up the phone with Xiao Pang when Luo Tang approached. Suddenly, Wei Ruxia, who had been calm, turned around and hugged Luo Tang tightly. With a burst of energy, she wrapped her legs around him.

“I’ve been nominated for the Sion Film Festival’s New Director award! Luo Tang! I’ve been nominated!”

She was rarely this excited, swaying back and forth as she held onto Luo Tang. Concerned she might fall, Luo Tang firmly held her in his arms. His smile widened as he genuinely praised her accomplishment.

“Amazing.”

“Hehe.” Feeling a bit shy in retrospect, Wei Ruxia buried her face in the man’s neck. Luo Tang’s skin was cooler than hers, which felt very comfortable against her face.

Wei Ruxia’s excitement gradually subsided. She whispered in Luo Tang’s ear, “I’m so lucky. Nominated for directing a movie on the first attempt. Do you think the same goes for the baby?”

Her breath was slow, warm, and moist, teasing his neck. Luo Tang glanced sideways at Wei Ruxia in his arms and said, “It’s not luck, it’s skill. Your strength comes from your usual accumulation. You deserve this nomination.”

Wei Ruxia laughed against Luo Tang’s neck as she held him, tilting her head to ask, “And what about the baby?”

Meeting Wei Ruxia’s gaze, Luo Tang pursed his lips, leaned closer to give her a kiss, and replied, “Whether you can conceive is my strength. And my strength also depends on accumulation over time.”

Listening to Luo Tang’s playful banter, Wei Ruxia chuckled and asked, “How do you accumulate?”

Luo Tang looked down at her with swirling eyes full of depth. Holding Wei Ruxia close, he said as they walked towards the bedroom, “Let me demonstrate it to you now.”

Wei Ruxia laughed heartily.

Luo Tang lied; he didn’t just demonstrate once. Before Wei Ruxia joined the crew, they practiced two or three times every day until she entered the new production crew.

Upon joining the new production crew and being encouraged by the nomination for the New Director award, Wei Ruxia was full of energy. She got busy with work, sometimes neglecting many things until Xiao Pang reminded her that her period had been delayed for over a week.

Suddenly, she remembered many things. That evening, she sent Xiao Pang to buy a pregnancy test. The test was inconclusive that night, so Wei Ruxia tested again in the early morning when she woke up.

While Wei Ruxia was filming on set, Luo Tang almost called her every day, three times a day—morning, noon, and evening—along with occasional calls at other times.

Just after waking up, having a glass of milk and spreading strawberry jam on toast, he dialed Wei Ruxia’s number. The phone rang for a moment before Wei Ruxia answered the call promptly.

“Luo Tang,” Wei Ruxia called out his name.

Upon hearing her voice, a slight curve formed at the corner of Luo Tang’s lips. His morning voice sounded somewhat lazy, carrying the unique huskiness and allure of a man.

“Yeah?”

On the other end of the phone, Wei Ruxia suddenly chuckled and said, “You’ve been nominated.”

The jam knife in his hand paused slightly, and Luo Tang’s gaze lifted, lightly licking his lower lip as he asked, “Did I get it?”

Wei Ruxia chuckled again, looking at the pregnancy test in her hand. She tapped her feet lightly on the ground and gently replied, “Yes, you did! Congratulations~”
