FYS Chapter 59

Since Luo Jinwu turned one year old, Wei Ruxia’s work focus expanded from Ancheng to the entire country. Even when Luo Jinwu was three years old, she went abroad for a shoot once.

In the span of three years, Wei Ruxia’s career has soared to new heights, making her one of the leading female directors in the country. Starting from primarily directing, she gradually merged directing and scriptwriting, and her distinct style emerged over time. While her films were commercially successful, they also received acclaim from critics. She has won several domestic directing awards, and her last film shot abroad even received a nomination for Best Director at an international film festival. However, Wei Ruxia remains unsatisfied. She chose this profession out of passion and dedication, striving for excellence in her craft. Therefore, she continues to make films relentlessly.

Her work schedule is very concentrated. Initially, she would produce two films a year, with shooting periods ranging from four months to as short as two months. During filming, she would video call with Luo Jinwu every day, and during breaks, Luo Tang would bring Luo Jinwu to visit her. Additionally, after completing a film, she would take a three to four-month break. During this time, she would be with Luo Jinwu every moment. Despite the child growing every day, the bond between Luo Jinwu and Wei Ruxia remained uninterrupted.

In the later stages, after she started writing scripts herself, she would only shoot one film per year. Aside from the half-year filming period, she spent all her time at home with her son and husband.

Wei Ruxia’s filming for this year began in April and ended in September. After shooting the final scene and wrapping up her part, Wei Ruxia took the bottle of ice water handed to her by Xiao Pang and drank half of it first.

In this film shoot, there were many scenes shot in the wild. Cities like Licheng in the north have a dry and hot climate, which makes it particularly uncomfortable, as it scorches and bakes people.

After Wei Ruxia finished her water, Xiao Pang took the remaining half bottle and handed her the phone, smiling as he said, “Wei Jie, President Luo is calling.”

A few days ago, they had a meeting to discuss the wrap-up date for this film. Wei Ruxia had informed Luo Tang that it would be today, and as soon as she finished, Luo Tang called.

Wei Ruxia turned thirty this year and had been in the directing industry for about four to five years. She possessed the rationality and maturity typical of professional women. During work, she was meticulous, serious, and responsible, sometimes to the point of severity. The actors and crew members on set all held her in high regard.

However, it was precisely this woman that, upon hearing her husband’s call, had the corners of her lips, which were usually slightly pursed, suddenly curl up. The maturity and rationality in her eyes were instantly replaced by a sweet and tender light. At this moment, she didn’t seem like a thirty-year-old woman at all, but rather like a seventeen or eighteen-year-old girl.

Wei Ruxia and Luo Tang’s love story had been circulated across the internet when they got married. After more than a decade of companionship, the two had indeed become family, but their love remained as fresh as ever, exuding a cool and sweet sensation.

Entering the tent, with a fan blowing beside them, Wei Ruxia took off her hat, revealing her flushed cheeks. She ran her hand through her hair and returned Luo Tang’s call.

As soon as the call connected, the deep “hello” from the man and the tender “mommy” from the little boy intertwined in Wei Ruxia’s ears. Her smile deepened, her heart felt as if it had grown wings, eager to see the father and son duo immediately.

“It’s done. We’re having a wrap-up dinner tonight, and we’ll return to Ancheng tomorrow. Post-production will be in Ancheng, so I’ll have to oversee it, but by then, I’ll have more free time,” Wei Ruxia said to Luo Tang, smiling as she shared her work schedule.

During their casual conversation, topics flowed naturally, jumping from one subject to another. Occasionally, they would be interrupted by Luo Jinwu, and Wei Ruxia’s voice would involuntarily soften as she exchanged a few words with him.

“It’s been really hot these past few days,” Luo Tang remarked. He had checked the weather forecast for Licheng, and despite it being September, temperatures still hovered around thirty degrees Celsius. Wei Ruxia had been filming outdoors these days, indicating she had endured quite a bit of hardship.

“It’s not too bad,” Wei Ruxia’s voice softened. She glanced around, seeing the crew packing up, and no one noticed her. With a slight curve at the corner of her eyes, she whispered to Luo Tang, “I just miss you too much~”

On the other end of the phone, the man’s deep laughter resonated, more effective than any big fan.

“I’ll bring Jinwu to pick you up,” Luo Tang said.

This was something Luo Tang always did after her work ended. Thinking about seeing him tonight made Wei Ruxia happy, and she nodded, saying, “Hurry up then.”

After hanging up with Luo Tang, Wei Ruxia leaned back in her chair, her body sinking into it. The shadows from the trees fell across her face. Thoughts of Luo Tang and Jinwu, the fatigue and heat, all seemed to disappear.

When Luo Tang and Luo Jinwu arrived, Wei Ruxia was in a meeting in the hotel conference room, discussing the final details of the movie. Xiao Pang came over to inform her that President Luo had arrived. Wei Ruxia briefly summarized the meeting and concluded it.

Wei Ruxia briskly walked from the conference room to the room. As soon as she took the room card and opened the door, before she could even see the person inside, Wei Ruxia was pulled into a familiar embrace.

The refreshing scent of the man relaxed Wei Ruxia’s entire body. She opened her arms and hugged Luo Tang back. Tilting her head up, she met the deep, ink-black gaze of the man. They both smiled, and their lips met in a kiss.

In reality, the time apart for the two wasn’t too long, considering that Luo Tang flew to Licheng every weekend. However, even with this arrangement, a week’s separation was enough to make them cling to each other more tightly.

Their initial intimacy was simple and straightforward, but as time went on, it gradually heated up. Wei Ruxia, panting lightly, pushed back against the man’s advances and asked, “Where’s the little guy?”

Luo Tang wrapped Wei Ruxia in his arms, exerting a gentle force to lift her entirely. Wei Ruxia’s room was a suite, and Luo Tang carried her to the bedroom. Wei Ruxia understood and hooked one arm around Luo Tang while opening the bedroom door with her free hand.

Inside the bedroom, Luo Jinwu was already asleep.

Three-year-old Jinwu was becoming more and more handsome. Compared to other children his age, he was noticeably taller, and his skin was fair. As he slept with his eyes closed, his thick and long curly eyelashes made him look like a sleeping doll.

Luo Tang had good experience taking care of children, and the little one slept soundly, clutching a dinosaur toy tightly.

Originally, Wei Ruxia had only intended to take a quick look at Luo Jinwu. However, once she laid eyes on her son, she couldn’t wait and immediately got down from Luo Tang’s arms.

Thinking about how her little one called her “mommy” over the phone, Wei Ruxia’s heart melted. She bent down and kissed her son’s forehead, feeling overwhelmed with warmth that seemed ready to overflow.

“Only a week apart, yet it feels like things have changed a bit,” Wei Ruxia said as she sat by the bed, while Luo Tang stood behind her. She turned to look at him, smiling as she spoke.

Luo Tang looked down at Wei Ruxia and replied softly, “Hmm, you seem a bit different too.”

Children change every week, but adults are already set in their ways, and it’s rare to see significant changes. Hearing Luo Tang’s words, Wei Ruxia relaxed, widened her eyes, pretended to be surprised, and looked up at him, smiling as she asked, “What’s different about me?”

In the bedroom, the curtains were drawn, and the evening sunlight filtered through the thin curtains, casting a gentle red glow inside, creating an especially charming atmosphere. Luo Tang lowered his head, looking at her, and his fingers reached out, lifting her chin.

His fingertips were warm, and the pressure was light. Wei Ruxia looked up at him, her throat moving slightly.

Luo Tang leaned in, kissing her eyebrow lightly. His voice was husky and gentle, like a soft brush, sweeping over the tip of her heart, causing her to tremble all over.

“Here…”

Luo Tang paused for a moment, then kissed her eyelids lightly, then moved to her nose, then to her lips… Each of his movements was gentle yet enticing. When he reached her lips, Wei Ruxia wrapped her arms around him.

Luo Tang paused, feeling a soft voice from the woman near his ear.

“I miss you too.”

Wei Ruxia’s words made Luo Tang’s breath catch. He lifted her up and left the bedroom.

By the time the two finished, the sky had turned dark. Luo Jinwu slept soundly, having slept for over an hour. Upon waking up, he rubbed his eyes and called out, “Mommy.”

As soon as he called out, Wei Ruxia reached out and hugged him. Luo Jinwu felt her warmth and immediately smiled, returning the embrace.

The intimate moments with Luo Tang had left Wei Ruxia feeling a bit tired. Holding her little one, soft and fragrant, she closed her eyes and kissed Luo Jinwu tenderly.

“Mommy~ Mmm~ Mommy~” Luo Jinwu, like a little kitten, kept wriggling into Wei Ruxia’s arms, calling out her name while acting coy.

Luo Tang had a reserved personality, while Wei Ruxia was gentle and serene, but their son turned out to be an affectionate little pepper. Hearing him call her name, Wei Ruxia’s heart melted. She opened her eyes, lifted his clothes, and planted a couple of kisses on his chubby little belly.

Luo Jinwu giggled, and as he laughed, Luo Tang switched on the bedroom light.

As soon as the light came on, Luo Jinwu, nestled in Wei Ruxia’s arms, turned his head to look at his dad. His big eyes were full of puzzlement as he asked in his childish voice, “Huh, Daddy, why did you change clothes?”

After everything was done, Luo Tang and Wei Ruxia took a shower together and changed clothes afterward. Hearing his son’s question, Luo Tang glanced at Wei Ruxia, who blushed and smiled.

Hearing Wei Ruxia’s laughter, Luo Jinwu turned back, sniffing at Wei Ruxia’s body. He said to her, “Mommy, you smell like Daddy. Did Daddy just hug you?”

“The hug” the child referred to was just as literal as it sounds,” Wei Ruxia smiled, nodding in agreement. “Yes, Daddy hugged me for a long time.”

“Then I want to hug for a long time too~” Luo Jinwu said with a beaming smile. He wrapped his arms around Wei Ruxia’s neck, intending to share his scent with his mom.

Wei Ruxia, holding the child like this, raised her eyebrows at Luo Tang, lowered her head, and kissed the little one’s head, smiling as she said, “And what about daddy?”

“Mmm~ Daddy~” With a reminder from his Mommy, Luo Jinwu remembered that Daddy was there too. He didn’t let go and turned to look at Luo Tang, directing, “Daddy, come over and hold me and Mommy~”

Luo Tang smiled at the arrangement. Instead of going over, he placed both arms under Wei Ruxia’s body and immediately embraced Wei Ruxia and Luo Jinwu into his arms.

When Wei Ruxia and Luo Jinwu were lifted momentarily by Luo Tang and landed on the bed, the two of them burst into laughter. Luo Tang was on the outer side of the bed, with Wei Ruxia leaning against his body, while Luo Jinwu was cradled in her arms. Luo Tang’s arms extended, encompassing the mother and son.

Luo Jinwu, held by Wei Ruxia’s arm, felt the weight of Wei Ruxia’s hand over Luo Tang’s. After contemplating for a while, seeing the hands of his parents stacked together, he softly said, “One more is missing~”

After her husband gave her a peck on the forehead, Wei Ruxia leaned down to kiss her son. She smiled and looked at Luo Jinwu’s little hand, asking, “What’s missing?”

After she finished asking, Luo Jinwu’s small hand measured the distance from his chest to the fingertips where their hands overlapped, creating a small triangular space. After the little one finished measuring, he lifted his head to meet his mother’s eyes, his eyes shining like stars.

“We’re missing a little sister!” Luo Jinwu said with a beaming smile.

Looking at the small space he had just measured, Wei Ruxia’s heart fluttered. She smiled and looked up at Luo Tang. Luo Tang pursed his lips slightly, his dark eyes shining with starlight as he addressed his son.

“Then you should sleep a little longer than usual,” Luo Tang remarked.

Wei Ruxia couldn’t help but burst into laughter.
