FYS Chapter 60

The thoughts of children are very powerful. For example, under Luo Shian’s unwillingness to go to school, Luo Jinwu becomes a little boy. Similarly, under Luo Jinwu’s desire for a younger sister, Luo Jinnian becomes a girl.

Wei Ruxia was in the midst of writing a movie script when she heard Luo Jinwu’s call. Her thoughts were disrupted, so she smiled helplessly, glanced back, pushed the keyboard in, and got up to leave the room.

Approaching the door of the nursery, Wei Ruxia turned the doorknob, opened the door, and peered inside.

As soon as her mother’s face appeared, Luo Jinnian, with a pacifier in her mouth, exclaimed, “Wow!” and threw the small dinosaur in her hand. This time, Luo Jinwu managed to dodge. While dodging, she turned around and noticed Wei Ruxia. Luo Jinwu exclaimed, “Mom!”

At the age of five, Luo Jinwu had already become a young lad, exuding more and more elegance in demeanor and growing increasingly refined in appearance. When with his younger sister, the two siblings resembled delicately crafted dolls, polished and refined.

“Did Jinnian bully you again?” Wei Ruxia entered the room, kicked off her slippers, and sat down on the mat with her legs crossed. Seeing her mother approach, Luo Jinnian quickly crawled over, her limbs moving swiftly, and soon reached Wei Ruxia. She was chubby, like a little ball, rolling over. Wei Ruxia’s heart melted at the sight, and she embraced her in her arms.

As Wei Ruxia held Luo Jinnian in her arms, she also embraced Luo Jinwu, one sibling on each side. Wei Ruxia sat there, listening to Luo Jinwu explain what had just happened.

“She didn’t bully me. It was my fault. My hand accidentally hit the wall,” Luo Jinwu said with a cheerful smile as he handed a toy to his sister.

After Luo Jinwu finished speaking, Luo Jinnian held the small toy and exclaimed “Ah, ah” twice, then struggled to move closer to Luo Jinwu. Seeing this, Luo Jinwu climbed down from Wei Ruxia’s lap and knelt beside Luo Jinnian.

Luo Jinnian, with her pacifier in her mouth, smiled, and her chubby little arms hugged Luo Jinwu tightly. Afraid she might fall, Luo Jinwu hugged her back, gave her a kiss, then turned to Wei Ruxia and said, “Look, Nian Nian really likes me now.”

Luo Jinwu’s personality tends to be more innocent and sweet, while Luo Jinnian has displayed a more dominant and assertive demeanor since birth. These siblings seem to have swapped scripts, with their personalities being quite the opposite of what one might expect.

Although Luo Jinnian is assertive and dominant, her love for her brother is profound. Being young, she may not always control her strength and sometimes ends up hitting Luo Jinwu. Whenever Luo Jinwu is accidentally struck and instinctively cries out, Wei Ruxia knows that Luo Jinwu has been bullied by Luo Jinnian again.

Even when bullied, Luo Jinwu never complains about his sister. Instead, he always indulges her.

Wei Ruxia, leaning on her elbow behind the mat, reached out to touch Luo Jinwu’s head. Watching the siblings love each other, Wei Ruxia gently reminded them, “You shouldn’t spoil her too much. If we keep spoiling her, she won’t realize her mistakes. If she bullies others like she does to you, others won’t indulge her.”

Their Mother’s words seemed to partially register with Luo Jinwu, though his understanding was limited. Children’s minds aren’t fully mature, but they’re innocent at heart. He scratched his head and, holding his sister in his arms, softly reminded her, “You know you shouldn’t bully others, right?”

Luo Jinnian didn’t quite understand. She simply continued to nibble on her pacifier while nestled in her brother’s arms, making a couple of “Ah, ah” sounds.

Wei Ruxia smiled and added, “You shouldn’t bully others, but you also shouldn’t let others bully you.”

“No one dares to bully her,” Luo Jinwu said calmly, holding his sister. He turned to look at his mother and said, “Whoever bullies Nian Nian, I won’t let them get away with it.”

When the little guy said these words, it reminded Wei Ruxia of Luo Tang’s high school days. His naive and innocent personality rarely led to such statements, which startled Wei Ruxia.

Sure enough, the son took after his father.

Wei Ruxia smiled, reached out to tousle her son and daughter’s heads, stood up from the mat, and said with a smile, “Let’s go, it’s time to make lunch. Dad will be back soon to eat.”

When it was just Luo Jinwu, Wei Ruxia used to take him to Luo Tang’s family company for lunch. However, after Luo Jinnian was born, having the whole family there attracted too much attention, so they changed to having lunch at home with Luo Tang.

During her time at home, Wei Ruxia not only worked on scripts but also learned cooking from the housekeeper. She became adept at preparing children’s meals and baby food, and now she can be considered a competent chef.

As soon as Luo Jinwu heard that he was going to help in the kitchen, he became excited. Wei Ruxia lifted Luo Jinnian and placed her in the stroller. Then, Luo Jinwu pushed the stroller behind Wei Ruxia as they headed to the kitchen.

They had already moved back from the mansion. The November sun was warm, and the air was slightly cool. The balcony’s French doors were wide open, allowing the sea breeze to drift in. The family of three lined up, their shadows stretching in the sunlight, and entered the kitchen one after the other.

Wei Ruxia and Luo Jinwu were putting the finishing touches on the last dish. She held Luo Jinwu and let him pour the soup she had prepared onto the vegetables. Luo Jinwu did so carefully. While the mother and son were busy, Wei Ruxia heard the sound of the door opening.

At the same time, Luo Jinnian exclaimed, “Yah!” Her tiny body began to fidget in the stroller.

Wei Ruxia held Luo Jinwu firmly, as steady as a rock, watching him finish pouring the last of the soup. She smiled at him and said, “Your sister is excited to hear that Dad’s back.”

As Luo Tang walked from the living room to the kitchen, he happened to see Wei Ruxia holding Luo Jinwu, finishing pouring the last of the soup. Ten meters behind them, Luo Jinnian squirmed in her stroller. When she saw him, her dark eyes sparkled like freshly cleaned glass grapes.

“Daddy’s back~” Wei Ruxia looked up, met Luo Tang’s gaze, and smiled as she spoke to Luo Jinnian.

Luo Tang walked over to Luo Jinnian, lifted her up despite her drool attack, then approached Wei Ruxia and took Luo Jinwu from her arms.

With a child in each arm, Wei Ruxia looked up at him. He leaned down slightly and kissed her lips.

The midday sun streamed through the kitchen, casting a golden glow. The light lunch aroma filled the air, enveloping the entire home in a layer of happy warmth and tranquility.

After the couple exchanged affectionate gestures, Wei Ruxia looked at Luo Tang and said with a smile, “Let’s eat.”

Upon receiving the command, Luo Jinwu got down from his father’s arms and said as he descended, “I’ll, I’ll carry my sister’s food~”

He was too young to carry anything substantial, but he could handle his sister’s baby food. Wei Ruxia smiled and handed Luo Jinwu his sister’s baby food. Luo Jinwu carefully carried it while Luo Jinnian exclaimed “Ah, ah” in Luo Tang’s arms.

“She’s hungry too.” Wei Ruxia looked at Luo Jinnian with her eager little eyes and smiled, instructing Luo Jinwu, “You go ahead and take it to the dining room.”

Although Luo Jinnian liked her dad, her eyes were fixed on her own food. She followed Luo Jinwu, leaning out of Luo Tang’s arms. Wei Ruxia took her, placed her in the stroller, and pushed her to the dining room first.

Luo Tang washed his hands and brought the lunch to the dining room.

Despite Luo Tang and Wei Ruxia’s busy work schedules, they always made time to be with their children. Eating together as a family of four, though simple, was incredibly heartwarming.

After lunch, Wei Ruxia spent some time playing with her children. Once they were settled, she coaxed them to take a nap. As soon as she got them to sleep, Wei Ruxia felt jubilant, like a child herself, and skipped into the kitchen.

Inside the kitchen, the faucet was running, and the sound of water hitting the dishes and utensils echoed crisply.

Luo Tang had already taken off his suit jacket, leaving his upper body clad in a light gray cotton shirt. Two buttons at the collar were undone, and the buttons on the cuffs were also unfastened, giving a relaxed appearance. The kitchen sink was a bit low for him, so he slightly lowered his head. His profile in the sunlight was exquisite and perfect.

Luo Tang was in his early thirties this year. Perhaps due to their long history together since childhood, Wei Ruxia could always see glimpses of his seventeen or eighteen-year-old self in him.

Sometimes, life feels like a dream. Watching Luo Tang under the halo of the sun, Wei Ruxia felt as if her dream were about to awaken, everything appearing hazy and uncertain.

If she were to awaken, how old would she be, and how old would she want to be?

As she finished rinsing the last bowl, Wei Ruxia wrapped her arms around Luo Tang’s waist. He could feel the length of a woman’s arms, and as he placed the bowl down, water droplets trickled down his slender fingers. Luo Tang smiled and turned to look at her, saying, “My hands are still wet.”

With her face pressed against Luo Tang’s back, Wei Ruxia could hear his heartbeat, strong and steady, thumping like a drum. Meanwhile, in her ears, her own heartbeat seemed to echo his. The heartbeat of the two intertwined quickly, merging into one another.

“If this is all a dream right now, what kind of scene would you hope to wake up to?” Wei Ruxia asked Luo Tang with a smile, perhaps having written too many scripts, she posed such an absurd question.

Even after having children, the couple still managed to find brief but precious moments alone together. Luo Tang allowed her to hold onto him, listened to her question, and then asked.

“What about you?”

Wei Ruxia chuckled softly. Tilting her head, she met Luo Tang’s gaze with a twinkle in her eyes and said with a smile, “Is your survival instinct that strong? Afraid I won’t talk to you if you answer wrong?”

Upon hearing her words, Luo Tang also smiled. He reached out his long arm, grabbed a piece of paper, and meticulously wiped the water droplets off his hand. After drying his hands, he turned around and placed both hands on Wei Ruxia’s waist, looking down at her.

“I want to see if my answer is the same as yours.”

The man’s features had matured considerably since his youth, appearing more gentle yet powerful. Wei Ruxia’s heart stirred. She gently tugged at the corner of her lips and said to Luo Tang, “I don’t wish for this to be a dream. I want my life to be just like this. Having a husband, children, work, dreams… living a quiet yet romantic life, fulfilled and enriched in spirit.”

This is Wei Ruxia’s innermost thoughts. Their current life may indeed have gradually become more ordinary, but her and Luo Tang’s original intentions remain unchanged. They still stir each other’s hearts, still embodying the most genuine form of love. Life is getting better and better, and they are the best they have ever been now.

Upon hearing her response, Luo Tang chuckled softly in his throat. He lowered his head slightly and kissed the corner of Wei Ruxia’s lips.

Their lips met, the kiss tender and lingering, gentle yet romantic.

As he was about to leave, Wei Ruxia grabbed Luo Tang’s hand, blinked her eyes, and smiled, asking, “Are you the same?”

The afternoon sunlight streamed through the glass window, casting the kitchen into patches of light and shadow. In the brightest patch, the man chuckled softly. He raised his hand, just like he did the first time they met, and ruffled her hair, nodding in response.

“Yeah, I want that too.”

Mu Qingzhu looked at the wound on her foot and asked, “Doctor, is my injury severe?”

Dr. Liu Qianxiu glanced at her lightly and said, “Yes, it’s serious. If you had come a moment later, the wound would have healed.”
