Still, Kangwoo left early in the morning the next day.
It seemed like Heewoon had been slightly drunk yesterday because he drank after a long time. Upon reflection, Kangwoo being busy seemed plausible. And to only leave himself at home just for sex… Well, but Kangwoo was nice to him. Heewoon remembered the comforting touch on his shoulder until he fell asleep yesterday.
Even if he wasn’t cheating, Seo Kangwoo’s attitude was too suspicious. Heewoon wanted to know the reason. His curiosity surged. It was an emotion he had forgotten.
He searched Kangwoo’s study, but he didn’t find anything significant. The important information would likely be on his phone, but stealing it was impossible.
His frustration continued to build up.
It was the evening. After having dinner with Kangwoo, who came home early after a long time, he received a call again. It was the same as yesterday.
The difference was that Kangwoo was going out.
From the moment Kangwoo started preparing to go out, Heewoon couldn’t stand still. The accumulated frustration was surging up.
“Go to sleep first. I will be late.”
Adjusting his tie, Kangwoo said these words. In that moment, what had been building up in Heewoon’s heart finally exploded into impulse.
Heewoon immediately called a taxi. The taxi arrived quickly. As soon as Kangwoo went out, a call came from the taxi driver.
“Ah, yes. I’ll be out soon. Please stay there.”
Heewoon, standing in front of the window, confirmed that Kangwoo had left and rushed outside. Heewoon didn’t forget to take cash with him.
He sprinted across the yard, opening the door as quietly as possible. Kangwoo was just getting into the car. It was an imported car with his driver. Recently, Seo Kangwoo had been taking this car often.
After Kangwoo’s car drove away, Heewoon immediately got into a taxi. Closing the door in a hurry and grabbing the backrest, he said to the driver,
“Please follow that car! I’ll give you double!”
The driver readily nodded.
Memories from before overlapped like having a déjà vu. The black car, sleek and glossy, sped onto the outskirts. Heewoon swallowed his dry saliva.
As he realized that he was chasing after Kangwoo, his heart pounded. It was different from fear.
These days, he only saw Seo Kangwoo at home, and now he was chasing Seo Kangwoo outside.
But, in fact, these days, Heewoon didn’t even get to meet Kangwoo much at home. He could only see Kangwoo properly at home for perhaps an hour a day. Maybe someone else was familiar with Seo Kangwoo much better than he was. Heewoon became restless.
Passing through fields outside the window, the driver glanced at him through the rearview mirror. Every situation was similar to that time. If that time was the beginning of this, now might become the end of this.
“……”
Heewoon gritted his teeth and stared at the front windshield.
After some time had passed, Kangwoo’s car came to a stop. The driver and Kangwoo got out of the car. Heewoon lowered himself inside the taxi, keeping an eye on Kangwoo. Even after getting out of the car, the tall person stood still. Heewoon waited nervously.
Finally, Kangwoo moved. Watching his back entering a shabby building, Heewoon handed several 50,000 won bills to the taxi driver.
“Please keep the change. Thank you.”
Heewoon watched the taxi drive away and approached the entrance of the building. Although this was an entirely different place, it resembled the dark and cold factory he had been before.
The entrance led to stairs. Next to the stairs was a door. He tried to open it slightly, but it was locked. It seemed like an office for a construction company, but outwardly, it looked relatively ordinary. Though it was rather odd to be in such a remote place rather than the city.
Heewoon moved his steps to the second floor. The corridor was long, and along the corridor were several rooms. The fluorescent light gave a slightly eerie feeling. Heewoon walked down the corridor with shoulders slightly hunched.
Thud-
The sound of Heewoon’s footsteps echoed in the empty corridor. It seemed too loud, so he paused for a moment and then continued walking. Dressed in a short-sleeved shirt and shorts, just as he wore at home, it felt a bit chilly. Rubbing his arms with goosebumps, Heewoon walked cautiously. The destination was predetermined. The end of the corridor, the meeting room.
As soon as he entered the corridor, he saw that the solid silver door of the meeting room was half open. As he approached the meeting room, his footsteps became more careful.
Heewoon pressed against the wall next to the open door. He could hear some sounds.
“If you keep doing this, we can’t work together in the future, CEO Park.”
Heewoom recognized it immediately. It was Seo Kangwoo’s voice.
“I had no idea. I just stamped the seal as it was given.”
A slightly older voice was heard, and Kangwoo’s low laughter followed. Shivers ran down Heewoon’s arms, and he rubbed his arm with a comforting touch.
“I anticipated that. You’re saying that everything is Managing Director Lee’s fault?”
“…That’s right. But it’s more of a mistake… than a fault.”
“Mistake…”
Kangwoo mumbled. Soon, a thud sound followed.
“Urghhh-”
A rough, labored sound mixed with breathing. Heewoon, pressing against the wall, slid down to sit, peeking inside.
An old man sat at the table, surrounded by men in suits, with Seo Kangwoo standing in front of them. And on the floor beside him was a man turned into a bloody mess. Considering the way the man clutched his stomach and bent his body like a shrimp, Kangwoo must have just beaten him.
“If you make a mistake in a business dealing with tens of billions wom, it’s problematic, Managing Director Lee.”
“Kuk… Uhhh…”
Heewoon looked at the restless old man, then looked back at the man lying on the floor. Looking at how he couldn’t talk or move, Heewoom could tell the man had suffered severe beating. It was painful to watch, and Heewoon bit his lip to keep silent.
“After taking under-the-table money, it’s a problem if you don’t keep your promises.”
Kangwoo gave a sly look to the old man. The old man’s Adam’s apple twitched as if swallowing saliva.
“Even if you made a mistake, it’s becoming quite tricky in our situation. The guys are pretty angry too.”
A calm voice followed.
Drrrr, drrrr. A heavy sound, like something scraping the floor, echoed. Unable to see clearly, Heewoon moved his head around. Finally, the identity of the sound came into view. It was an object that didn’t fit the meeting room at all.
“It’s difficult to let this slide.”
A brown-stained axe. Heewoon bit his lip and took in rough breaths. The man dragging the axe came to a stop.
“Ugh… P-Please, spare me…”
The bloodied man trembled violently. Men in suits sat on the man’s body, extending one of his arms.
Kangwoo casually observed them. Heewoon realized again how frightening Kangwoo was, something he had momentarily forgotten. The thought of quickly going home crossed his mind.
As Heewoon attempted to stand up, his legs lost strength, and he knelt down, hitting his knees on the floor. There was a thud sound. More than the pain, it was more frightening that the sound might have reached inside the meeting room.
In a hurry, Heewoon got up. His heart pounded like crazy. Seo Kangwoo seemed the same, then and now.
It was when he was running down the corridor.
Bang-!
The heavy sound of a closing door resonated in the corridor.
The sneakers, which had reached near the stairs, hesitated. Heewoon breathed heavily. The sound of his heartbeat was so loud that he doubted if he really just heard the sound of the door closing. In fact, he didn’t want to believe it.
Heewoon took a shaky breath and took a step forward. That’s when it happened.
“Stop.”
A low voice echoed in the corridor.
Heewoon’s mouth went dry, and a chill ran through his entire body. He had witnessed these crime scenes several times, so he wasn’t worried about that. However, he was worried as he came here without saying a word. Last time, when he was kidnapped, Kangwoo broke his legs because Heewoon went far without saying anything.
“Were you bored?”
Kangwoo slowly walked towards him, asking a strange question. Heewoon, unable to turn around, stood frozen, only his fingers twitching. He even thought that Kangwoo deliberately left the meeting room door open. Umm. A low groan was heard right behind him.
“Aaack!”
Heewoon screamed. Kangwoo firmly grabbed the back of his neck. Heewoon desperately turned his head, and Kangwoo was staring at him expressionlessly.
“You kept ignoring my words since yesterday.”
Although the voice was calm, Heewoon felt a strong pressure on his spine. Perhaps it was because of Kangwoo’s strong grip on his neck.
“S-Sorry.”
“Don’t do it again in the future.”
Kangwoo’s expression softened considerably. However, the hand gripping the back of his neck remained the same. Heewoon, shoulders hunched, grabbed Kangwoo’s arm. It was as tough as a tree trunk.
“I’m sorry for following you. Please, let go. It hurts.”
Kangwoo, on the contrary, pulled Heewoon closer towards him.
“Why doesn’t Sunbae ever learn better? Why did you follow me so closely while stalking me?”
“Ah…”
“Do you know how funny it was to see you running to catch a taxi?”
The corners of Kangwoo’s lips curled up. Surprisingly, he didn’t seem particularly upset. Heewoon murmured, trying to get out of Kangwoo’s grip.
“Come this way.”
“Why, why… aren’t we going home?”
Being dragged by Kangwoo, Heewoon stuttered a bit. Kangwoo chuckled and closed the door. They were in a room looking like a lounge.
Kangwoo finally released him, and Heewoon rubbed the back of his neck with his palm. There must be red marks for sure. Making a frown, Heewoon belatedly realized that Kangwoo was staring at him intently.
