Accidentally Becoming Famous

Chapter 19 – Accidentally Becoming Famous

I stared stupidly at him for a moment before walking towards him. His silver-grey fur shone in the sunlight as he crouched down, making it easy for me to climb onto his back. I didn’t hesitate to do so because I couldn’t resist the invitation of such a handsome wolf.

“Grab onto my ear,” he commanded and I immediately held onto his furry and warm ear. The diamond earring on his earlobe sparkled in the sunlight. In the next moment, he took off running and my long hair flew behind me as my heart raced with excitement.

Although I didn’t understand why he suddenly appeared at my doorstep, or why he commanded me to be his master, at that moment, all I wanted was to seize the opportunity to satisfy my desire to ride a wolf. Even if he was just playing with me, I didn’t want to let go of his ear.

The morning air was exceptionally fresh as we ran down the empty streets. We passed a sloping road, and I saw that the houses in the immortal realm were also arranged in tiers, built on the mountain, with a mythical atmosphere.

Suddenly, he leaped down from the red railing by the roadside, and we soared into the air, giving us a bird’s-eye view of all the buildings!

Wow…

I wanted to scream, but I held back. I didn’t want to be recorded and posted online, only to have people point at me and call me a fool.

Mo Ming leaped onto the roof and began running between the buildings. His speed was incredibly fast, but it was also very stable. I didn’t feel any bumps, and he was truly amazing!

If he had a Weibo or something, I would definitely give him a like every day!

Mo Ming was clearly trying to take a shortcut, so he ran directly from the roof of a building towards the city gate. By the time he landed safely on the ground, I was already standing at the recruitment location marked on the map.

“We’re here,” he said, not even out of breath.

I climbed down from his back and looked at the building in front of me. It had a style similar to… well, how should I put it? It looked a bit like a bank. Although it was a wooden structure, it had glass doors, and now the doors were open. Inside, there were two people wearing silver-blue silk robes cleaning.

I took a step forward.

“Gurgle~~~”

I froze as my stomach growled.

I furrowed my brow. Oh well, I’ll just have to endure it.

Moving forward…

“Gurgle~~~”

Oh no! My stomach! Why can’t we control our human stomachs? If it’s hungry, it’s hungry!

I saw the silhouette of the wolf on the ground, turned and smirked at Mo Ming. But he was staring at me with his green eyes, looking completely guarded.

What do you mean? Huh?!

I smiled at him, “Um…since you’re supposed to be my servant, doesn’t that mean your money is mine too?”

“No,” he replied without hesitation.

I gave him a cold look, “Then can you lend me some money?”

“I won’t lend you any,” he refused bluntly.

“Then why did you say you want me to be your master?” I pointed at him directly!

He stared at me arrogantly with his green eyes, his gaze exceptionally cold and domineering, as if he was saying, “I won’t lend you any money, what are you going to do about it?”

The sunlight fell on both of us, and we stared at each other with wide eyes. The sunlight began to cast our shadows, making them elongated. In the shadow, I kept pointing at him.

People began to appear around us, looking surprised and exclaiming, “Isn’t that the Destroyer?!”

Destroyer? What are they talking about?

Oh my god!

I already have a nickname after just one night!

“That’s Mo Ming, Your Highness! Why is Mo Ming with that Destroyer?”

Mo Ming… Your Highness?

I looked in the direction of the speaker, and it was a young girl.

“What’s Xia Xiaolan doing? How dare she point at Senior Mo Ming! Does she want to die?!”

“Quick, look! See how Mo Ming Senior is going to bite that mortal into pieces,” someone exclaimed.

“Hey, hey, hey, can you handle such a heavy topic so early in the morning?” I asked, feeling a bit uneasy.

It appeared that Mo Ming was quite popular here. I narrowed my eyes, withdrew my hand, and turned around. “Never mind! I’ll earn money on my own!” I had been in the spotlight lately and didn’t want to draw a crowd again.

I strode forward, and Mo Ming transformed into a human form and walked past me. When we reached the door, he turned around and leaned against the wall with his arms crossed. His deep blue shirt and pants gave him a distinct sense of composure.

He raised one foot slightly and then looked at me. “I’m doing this for your own good. You must rely on yourself here.”

“Get lost!” I stood next to him, pushed my face away, deliberately lowered my voice, and said, “A good servant should find food for their master. Are you playing games with me so early in the morning? Hmph, an immortal, psh.” I pushed open the glass door in front of me and declared, “I’ll earn money today to show you!”

Inside the door was a hall with a red lacquered floor. There were four windows in front of me, decorated in a Chinese style. A small window under the hollow partition allowed people to communicate inside.

The first window was for Immortal Realm tasks, the second was for Six Realms tasks, the third was for Bounty tasks, and the fourth was…oh my god! The Daredevil Squad!

As a student, why would I want to take on a task from the Daredevil Squad? But perhaps those demigods had a few lives, like in online games, where they could revive in place.

Thinking like this made those tasks seem less terrifying.

I quickly went to the Immortal Realm task window, where an immortal official was sitting. He was dressed like the immortal officials in the Dunhuang murals, wearing a peaked cap and a white official uniform with narrow cuffs for convenience. His face was as white as snow, a bit like the makeup of a young actor in a Chinese opera, with two pink blushes at the corners of his eyes.

I stared at him blankly, then secretly took out my phone and took a picture.

He lazily handed me a stack of documents and didn’t even lift his eyelids as he said, “You’re here so early. That’s rare for a newcomer.”

“Yeah. How did you know?”

“Older people choose tasks online. Only newcomers need to come here to register and activate their accounts. After that, you can grab tasks directly on your phone.” He continued to speak without looking at me or lifting his eyelids.

I came back to my senses. So everyone didn’t have to get up, and everything was done on their phones!

I grabbed my phone and looked at him curiously. “But my phone hasn’t been upgraded yet?”

“Then go upgrade your phone,” he finally lifted his eyelids. Unexpectedly, when he did, his eyes widened and he stared at me for a full minute before suddenly pointing at me and saying, “Destroyer!”

What the heck?

“Come on, take a photo!” He even got up to take a picture with me!

Am I really that famous? Can I find a spokesperson task or something?

“Click!” When the camera shutter sounded, I instinctively struck a pose. It’s all because of the phone; now when I hear the sound of the shutter, I automatically strike a perfect selfie pose.

After he took the picture, he sat back down and grinned, picking up a tablet and placing it in front of me. “Choose your task, and I’ll post it on my Moments.”

My face instantly turned dark. Who gave me that nickname? I have to find out who it was and see if I can’t beat them up!

There were many tasks on the tablet, each with a corresponding price, but perhaps because it was too early, the tasks had not yet been taken.

“Teacher, are there any suitable tasks for someone like me, a human?” I asked him.

He looked up from his phone and thought for a moment. “There really is! How about cleaning?”

“I can do that!” I immediately said.

He pointed to the highest-level task on the tablet. “Go to the King’s Palace and clean it.”

What? Cleaning is actually the highest-level task?

I immediately scrolled down and saw an SSS-level task: Go to the King’s Palace and clean it.

Oh, the King’s Palace must be a very large palace, so the cleaning task is also very difficult. And the salary is one thousand immortal yuan!

Wow! One thousand yuan!

Without hesitation, I clicked on it. “This one, this one!” I said excitedly.

He took back the tablet. “But there are some things I need to remind you of first. This task is not simple. If the employer is not satisfied, not only will you not get paid, but you will also be blacklisted and can never take this task again.”

“Okay, okay, okay!” I nodded repeatedly.

He raised an eyebrow and looked at me, his eyes turning red. “Do you even know what the King’s Palace is?”

I looked at him with confusion, “Isn’t it just a palace or something?”

“Hehehe,” he chuckled with a hint of malice, “This task is most popular among girls, and only two can be taken each day. You got here early today, otherwise, you wouldn’t have been able to grab it.”

I smiled, “Because it’s a cleaning job.”

“Not exactly,” he leaned back on his chair and gestured at me with his finger, “They’re not going there just to clean, but for the one thousand immortal yuan payment. You’ll know what I mean when you get there. Good luck, and may fortune favor you.”

After the celestial official said this, I suddenly felt uncertain in my heart. Why do I have a strange feeling that this is like a beauty pageant in the palace?

“Do you know where the King’s Palace is?” He asked while lounging back on his chair.

I nodded, “I have a map, and I’ll find it.”

He smiled, “But can you fly?” He pointed upwards and squinted his eyes like a fox.

I stared at him blankly, “Do we need to…fly?”

Of course, many buildings here are in the sky. It seems like I’ll have to go back and ask Xiao Bai for help.

As I walked out the door, I opened the map and read, “King’s Palace.”

“She’s going to the King’s Palace!”

“She dares to go to the King’s Palace!”

“She’s too ignorant and overestimates herself.”

“What a fool!”

“You guys, shut up!” I got angry and crumpled the map into a ball. Just as I was about to throw it away, someone held onto my wrist. I turned my head and was surprised to see Mo Ming!

“Why are you still here?” I looked at him strangely.

He let go of my wrist, “I’ll take you to the King’s Palace.”

“Ugh.” I rolled my eyes, “Will you ever stop?” The students passing by started to look over at us, pointing and gossiping.

He gazed down at me calmly and stated, “I’m serious. I want you to be my master!”

I was taken aback and quickly surveyed the surroundings. As expected, both boys and girls had halted in surprise. Turning back to Mo Ming, I felt annoyed and retorted, “Can’t you keep it to yourself?”

Mo Ming looked around calmly, but the gasps of surprise were already spreading.
