GCLA Chapter 29

Starting A Class with a fight?

Chapter 29: Starting A Class with a fight?

Black Meimei (Nickname for a girl) was also alone. When I walked with her through the teachers’ corridor, other girls greeted their friends, but Black Meimei didn’t have anyone. She hopped and jumped forward with her zombie alone, and we sat together in the classroom.

The classroom was spacious but circular, a peculiar setup indeed. The seats were arranged in a circular formation, layer by layer, going upwards, and in the center of the circle, there was no blackboard; instead, there was a sealed pattern.

As I sat down, I started taking out my pencil case and notebook, and instinctively put my phone on silent mode. Mo Ming’s miniature form looked at me apologetically, saying, “I’m sorry…”

“Don’t talk to me.” I stuffed him back into my bag; Mo Ming’s miniature form seemed more understanding than Mo Ming himself.

“Don’t ignore me~~~” I heard his tiny voice coming from my bag.

Then I looked at Black Meimei next to me and noticed that she took out talismans from her bag… copper coin swords… demon-revealing mirrors…

Uh… Am I doing something wrong?

I looked around and realized that nobody else was taking out pens or notebooks like me; they all had weapons or props!

In front of me, a boy took out a large cleaver that occupied almost six people’s spaces!

There were also some, like Black Meimei, who had “pet companions,” all sorts of monsters and demons!

I blinked awkwardly, nervously put my pencil case and notebook back into my bag. Could it be that the Divine and Demon Academy doesn’t have regular classes? Are we just introducing ourselves and showcasing our weapons, or discussing our experiences of using them?

What should I do?

Just then, someone sat down beside me. I looked and saw “Mao Mao” (Nickname), followed closely by Qing Ming, Jiang Yan, and Si Yino. The three of them greeted me with lackluster expressions, saying, “Good morning…” Their faces resemble Black Meimei’s zombie-like appearance!

“Xiaolanjie (Big Sister Xiaolan), you’re up early.” Mao Mao hooked her arm around my neck; her fluffy body made her temperature higher than others’. “We couldn’t find you when we woke up.”

“Oh! The useless people from the Waste House are all here!” Just as Black Meimei’s voice came, the smile vanished from Mao Mao’s face. She lowered her head in self-doubt and let go of my hand, moving away from my neck.

Si Yino was the first to hide behind Xiao Bai (a mythical snake), looking somewhat uneasy. Only Qing Ming and Jiang Yan stared at Black Meimei expressionlessly.

Black Meimei glanced at them with indifference. “What was bothering you? You should have been used to being called useless. Don’t worry, Xiaolan is my friend, and so are you. I’ll protect you from now on.” Black Meimei confidently patted her chest.

Jiang Yan looked at her expressionlessly, then turned back and took a sip from a blood bag. He looked at me and asked, “Is she your friend?”

I smiled and replied, “Don’t mind her. Black Meimei speaks her mind. She actually helped me earlier.” After finishing my sentence, Qing Ming returned his gaze to the front.

Black Meimei smirked at each of them. “Hey, are you really okay with repeating a grade every year?”

“We have our ways, and it’s none of your business,” Jiang Yan coldly retorted, turning his face away. “Stay away from us. If you hang out with useless people like us, you might get infected.”

Black Meimei raised an eyebrow. “Hmph, quite a temper. Well!” She stood up and actually left, leaving me feeling a bit awkward.

Once Black Meimei left, Jiang Yan patted Si Yino, and they both looked at him. He stood up, leaped over the seats with agility, and sat beside me. Soon after, Qing Ming and Si Yino also leaped over, their agile movements causing their hair to flutter. There was no trace of uselessness in them.

“What are you guys doing…” Mao Mao lowered her head, feeling insecure again. She fidgeted with her fingers and said, “Xiaolan jie finally made a new friend, and you drove them away. Xiaolan jie must have been so embarrassed…”

Mao Mao’s words made me even more embarrassed.

Jiang Yan calmly sucked on the blood bag and said, “Let time prove the meaning of friendship.” Suddenly, his voice turned dark, and his face became gloomy. It seemed like he had too many secrets hidden within his seemingly frail body.

Sometimes, making friends can lead to such awkward situations. Let things unfold naturally.

But with them by my side, I felt safer.

I looked at them, and one by one, they took out their belongings. Mao Mao took out a sharpening stone. Huh?! What’s going on? Then I saw Mao Mao extend her hand and flick it in the sunlight! Clang! Holy crap! It’s Wolverine!

Then, I saw her calmly sharpening her sharp nails beside me. What kind of classes are they having at the Divine and Demon Academy? Why do I have this eerie feeling?

Looking at Jian Yang on the other side, he didn’t take out anything strange, but instead, he pulled out a bag of 500cc blood! He looked at the blood with an eerie smile. “My collection, I’m counting on you today.” After saying that, he opened the blood bag. I thought he was going to drink it boldly, but he magically took out a wine glass!

“Oh my, Jian Yan, are you drinking blood with a glass today?”

Jian Yan smiled at me, and Qing Ming’s face appeared slightly, expressionless as he said, “Classy.”

“[Forcing] stance… Hmm… Is this drinking red wine…”

Just then, a flash of green light appeared beside Qing Ming, and suddenly, a Green Dragon Crescent Blade emerged!

What on earth! Where do these people usually hide their stuff?! So many knives! I had never seen Qing Ming take them out before!

“Duang!” A sound rang out as Qing Ming placed the blade horizontally in front of us, then took out a cloth and began wiping it carefully.

Beside him, Si Yino also took out a large pack of beef jerky and started feeding it to Xiaobai.

“Um… Can I ask… what’s going on?” I pointed at them stiffly.

Mao Mao, filing her nails, said, “Preparing for a fight.”

“Huh?”

“Xiaolan, haven’t you reviewed the class material?” Jiang Han swayed his wine glass.

“Huh? Didn’t we just say to prepare for the start of school?”

“Battle!” Qingming gave me a thumbs-up.

“What?”

Si Yino leaned slightly and hid behind Xiaobai, revealing only his white hair. “Xiaolan jie… Here, we don’t have language or math… those humanities subjects…”

“Isn’t math a science subject!” I exclaimed!

Jiang Yan calmly looked at me. “Here, everything is classified as humanities.”

I looked at him stiffly. “So… you’re saying… there’s no humanities here, only…”

“Yes!” Qingming lifted the big blade. “Martial Arts!”

Puff—

My heart spewed out enough blood to feed Jiang Han for a year. I, Xia Xiaolan, am a human—Even if I’m good at sports, I don’t know any martial arts. Starting the new school year with a fight, I’m definitely going to get knocked out—

In an instant, countless images of new students being thrown to the ground and then uploaded to the campus network flashed through my mind. The sound of merciless and mocking laughter began to echo in my ears.
