Chapter 5: It Could Be Deadly If Thrown Down!!!
Feng Lingcan chuckled and shook his head, looking at me. “What’s your name?”
I felt a bit frustrated. Among all these supernatural beings, it seemed I had no presence at all. Only now did they remember to ask for my name. It was clear that their previous help was merely an afterthought, like casually picking up a plastic bottle and tossing it into the trash without caring if it was a Coke, Pepsi, or some other brand…
I smiled and replied, “Let’s forget about names. I don’t think I’ll be staying here for long…” I glanced at the bizarre creatures on the plane, including the unexpected arrival of Fusu. Could this all be a dream?
Suddenly, the plane’s body sank slightly, as if preparing for landing. It was then that I realized there hadn’t been any flight attendants, nor had the captain made any announcements. The whole situation felt eerily strange, as if the plane was flying on its own.
“Hmph, pretending to be mysterious to capture attention. I’ve seen many girls like you, trying to attract everyone,” Fusu sneered at me, his eyes filled with amusement.
I furrowed my brow and shot him a cold glare. Instantly, a glint of coldness flashed in his eyes. What’s the matter? Just because you flew in here, do you think I’m afraid of you? Don’t underestimate me!
I turned my face away, took a seat, and ignored them. Feng Lingcan patted my shoulder, kindly reminding me, “We’re almost there. Don’t wander off. Follow me after we disembark.”
I remained silent, and he didn’t return to his seat either. Instead, he sat beside Baiying and turned his head to glance at me, a concerned expression on his face, like a caring senior.
However, everything happening on this plane was too inexplicable, leaving me reluctant to trust anyone.
I gazed at my phone and the picture I had taken of Fusu earlier, and I promptly deleted it. I didn’t want Fusu, surrounded by his self-centered aura, to mistakenly think I liked him.
I really can’t stand arrogant guys.
“You… aren’t you afraid of me?” I heard a timid voice beside me, the voice of a young boy. I turned to look at him, and there before me was a serpent-like face, its tongue flickering as it curiously observed me with wide eyes.
“Don’t… be afraid. Xiaobai doesn’t harm anyone…” The boy timidly spoke from behind the White Snake, his voice slightly hoarse as if he were going through puberty.
Only now did I notice that he had snow-white hair. Being concealed by the White Python, his white hair wasn’t very noticeable. He wore the same black martial arts attire I had seen earlier, resembling a Tai Chi master’s garment, but it fit him more closely, giving him an air of an Eastern martial hero. Unfortunately, his constant timidity overshadowed that aura.
I looked at the White Snake, surveyed the surroundings, and whispered, “I’ll tell you a secret. Even now, I still feel like I’m dreaming.”
The body hiding behind the White Snake quivered slightly, and he turned his head, revealing a pair of shiny black eyes concealed by his long bangs. “You… haven’t seen us before?”
“I don’t know.” After suppressing my confusion for so long, I finally couldn’t help but pour out my thoughts to this seemingly more obedient younger brother, “I didn’t perform well on the college entrance exam this year. I thought I would end up at some vocational school or take classes at New Oriental to learn how to operate an excavator. Suddenly, I met two men in black and they sent me here. Then, I saw so many strange and peculiar people, including that Fusu who flew on a sword! Fortunately, I gradually saw these things and didn’t end up scared silly. So, after looking around, I actually found your white snake to be more normal.”
He lowered his face behind the White Snake, offering a timid smile. “Thank you, sister. Not many people… talk to me so much because… I’m rather inadequate, a failure at the Divine and Demon Academy… Normally, nobody wants to engage in conversation with me.”
“The Divine and Demon Academy!” I exclaimed, taking a deep breath. “If that’s true, then I might have a grasp of the situation. But why am I here? I’m just an ordinary human. Is all of this truly real?” I pinched myself once more, refusing to believe it. Ouch! That hurt!
I clenched my teeth, suppressing any doubts. This couldn’t possibly be a dream!
Oh my god!
This is not a dream!
That means zombies are real!
That radiant deity could really be a vampire!
That Crimson Sun might genuinely possess lethal powers!
The charms, copper coins, swords, and demon-slaying pestle are all freaking real!
I’ve somehow stumbled into a mysterious world!
Abruptly, I jolted awake, realizing belatedly that my jaw had dislocated. My mind spiraled into chaos, as if atomic bombs were detonating, black holes collapsing, and the entire universe exploding. Eventually, my very soul detached, disintegrating into oblivion… I… experienced a fragmentary lapse.
“I am… Si Yino. And what is your name, sister?”
Gradually regaining my senses amidst the young boy’s words, my brain recovering from the cataclysmic mental explosions, I calmly replied, “I am Xia Xiaolan.” As I spoke, the white snake’s head extended toward me, grazing my face with a pleasantly cool touch.
I found it peculiar that I harbored no fear of such a large serpent. Could it be because I possessed a tomboyish spirit?!
“Hehe…” Si Yino chuckled timidly from behind Xiaobai, “It seems Xiaobai is quite fond of you…”
At this point, I harbored an invincible fearlessness. As long as it wasn’t the neighboring zombie “liking” me, anything else could freely “like” me.
“Look, we have arrived!” The young boy pointed towards the circular window. I leaned closer and was immediately left dumbfounded!
Contrary to expectations, the airplane hadn’t landed. Instead, beneath the clouds, an immense ancient city sprawled before us!
The celestial city resembled an ancient fortress, adorned with intricate carvings, majestic archways, and soaring roofs. However, it seamlessly incorporated wooden elevators, peculiar airborne vehicles, modern and even futuristic gadgets, all harmoniously blending with the antiquated setting. This fusion exuded a distinctive blend of modern fashion and traditional Chinese charm, evoking a sense of exhilaration and anticipation!
The plane began to approach slowly and came to a stop at the entrance of a long corridor. But it wasn’t just our plane; there were other planes in front and behind us, along with all sorts of peculiar-looking flying vehicles!
It was truly extraordinary!
In this moment, my heart was filled with excitement! Regardless of what kind of strange things awaited me, it looked like so much fun that I couldn’t resist joining in!
As soon as the plane landed, I grabbed my bag and dashed off without waiting for that mysterious Feng Lingcan. Although he seemed helpful and friendly, there was something suspicious about him and Fusu. As a newcomer, I didn’t want to get caught up in any peculiar conflicts.
Back in our mortal world, disagreements among regular guys in school would typically end with a fight or maybe some thrown desks and chairs. But this was the Divine and Demon Academy! It had all kinds of creatures! If they started fighting, would I be obliterated in an instant?
Just the thought of it made me anxious. I needed to understand why I had ended up here. That was the first thing I had to figure out!
Hastily disembarking from the plane, I stood at the edge of the corridor, cautiously peering down. The vast expanse of clouds rolled beneath my feet. I truly, truly wanted to shout in exhilaration, if only it didn’t feel so absurd.
No, I needed to keep myself composed. I had already embarrassed myself on the plane. This place was truly enchanting. Despite being high up in the sky, I felt no changes in air pressure, no coldness, or any other typical sensations one would expect at an altitude of ten thousand meters. Instead, it felt like standing on solid ground, and the air was remarkably fresh. The PM2.5 levels were definitely not exceeding the standard!
I even felt a bit intoxicated by the pure oxygen~~~~
“Hmph, do you find it impressive?” Suddenly, Fusu’s contemptuous voice came from behind. Before I could respond, someone swiftly picked me up and, catching a glimpse of Fusu’s smug face, he sneered, “Enjoy the view.”
“Eh?!” I barely had time to react before he threw me over the railing, and I plummeted straight down into the sea of clouds. Fusu’s devilishly handsome face grew smaller and smaller, and fear overwhelmed me, causing me to scream uncontrollably, “Ahhhhhh—”
I caught a glimpse of Fusu’s mocking gaze from the edge of the corridor, filled with disdain and contempt, as if I were the type of girl who enjoyed scaring him for attention!
Screw you, jerk—
“Ahhhhh—”
“Thud!” I landed inside a flying car, startling me into a jump. Trembling with fear, I patted myself all over and exclaimed, “Ah—ah—ah—” Then, I noticed the middle-aged driver next to me, and fear rendered me speechless, only able to utter incomprehensible sounds, “Ah—”
“You’re so noisy,” a cold voice suddenly came from behind me. Startled by the remark, I was temporarily at a loss for words.
“Little girl, please sit properly,” the smiling driver reminded me. Still shaken, I quickly composed myself, sat down, and hugged my body, shivering as I nodded in response, “Th-thank you, sir.”
“No need to thank me,” the driver replied with a beaming smile as he glanced at me. “Every new school year, there are always one or two girls who end up in our young master’s car~~~”
“What? Are you suggesting, old man, that I did this on purpose?” I instantly became furious and forgot about being scared. “What kind of lousy school is this anyway? Why does everyone here seem so self-righteous? On my first day of school, I encountered a vampire who insisted on grabbing me, and then I ran into that arrogant Fusu who thought I was trying to get his attention and threw me down from above! Old man! I’m just a regular person! Did you even bother to take a good look at me? I really am a mortal! I can’t fly around on a sword like you guys can~~~~”
“Shut up!” Suddenly, that cold voice resounded again. I angrily turned around but once again lost my voice…
There, I saw a young man sitting coldly in the backseat, wearing a long shirt with a white dragon pattern. His eyebrows were sharp, his eyes cold, and his long hair tucked behind his temples. The modern-style glasses added to his aloofness. His thin lips were slightly pursed, exuding an air of indifference and arrogance.
Although his long shirt resembled ancient attire, the design of the standing collar had a particularly modern touch. The lifelike dragon pattern on the white fabric seemed as if a divine dragon would emerge from it at any moment!
Below the collar were diagonal rows of buttons, tempting anyone to feel the urge to undo each one. Such is the enchanting power of buttons!
He sat there with a cold demeanor, one leg crossed over the other, holding a book in one hand, paying no attention to the surroundings. His face had a gloomy expression, emanating the majesty of an ancient prince. And his long, straight black hair captivated everyone’s gaze. He seemed like the young lord of a gang, rarely smiling, and inspiring awe, keeping people at a distance.
