Even Immortals Judge by Appearance

Chapter 6: Even Immortals Judge by Appearance

“Our young master is quite handsome, isn’t he?”

“Um…” I instinctively responded.

“That’s why girls often fall for him.”

I was taken aback and quickly turned around, only to see the driver uncle next to me with an unusually calm smile. But his face resembled that of a cunning old fox. “But I’m not one of them!”

“I can tell, you seem like an ordinary person.” The uncle turned his face, his narrowed eyes examining me. Yet, a profound sharpness gleamed in his gaze.

“What do you mean by ‘seem’? I am one!” I wanted to explain, but suddenly, a white giant python flew above us, generating a powerful airflow that tousled my long hair. I stood in astonishment as I watched the enormous white python descend slowly beside me, with Sī Yīnuò donning a black martial arts attire, perched on its back. However, his face remained mostly hidden beneath his snowy locks, revealing only a pair of timid eyes, tinted with a trace of amber.

“Xuān, Senior Xuānyuán, I’m sorry…” he uttered, hastily beckoning me, seemingly afraid of the imposing figure behind me. “Little Lán, let’s go! If Senior Xuānyuán gets upset, he’ll kick you out of the school!”

“What? It’s only my first day!” I exclaimed. I couldn’t possibly be expelled on my very first day of school. That would be incredibly embarrassing!

“Hush, hush, hush!” Understanding the temperament of the person behind me, Sī Yīnuò repeatedly hushed me. I closed my mouth, realizing that since this was the Divine and Demon Academy, there were likely numerous genuine gods and goddesses here!

In the mortal realm, offending various “gods” was already a serious offense, let alone being in the midst of actual deities! Even a minor deity could effortlessly reduce me to an ant or something. I would probably end up as a mere laborer, toiling in the natural world.

I swiftly stood up, crawled out of the car, and Sī Yīnuò reached out to support me. I hopped onto his back, and he promptly turned his head, as if avoiding someone he couldn’t afford to provoke, and swiftly guided me in our “escape.” The momentum caused me to lean backward, and I hastily clung to Sī Yīnuò’s slender body, realizing that he, too, emanated a coolness and delicacy akin to my 16-year-old next-door neighbor, who resembled an adorable little brother.

Oh! It appears… um… his body is surprisingly soft, I must admit.

Ahem, got distracted, got distracted, this isn’t good…

When the colossal white python set me back on the ground, my legs suddenly turned weak, and I knelt at the edge. It wasn’t due to fear but… I felt nauseous…

“Ugh!” This experience was far more exhilarating than riding a roller coaster! I felt like my father no longer needed to worry about me being chosen. Damn it, I didn’t want to remain here!

“Are you okay?” Fēng Língcàn and Bái Yǐng rushed toward me once again, their faces filled with concern.

“Fu Sū went too far! If no one caught you, you would have plummeted and turned into minced meat!” Bái Yǐng’s words failed to offer any comfort. My face grew even paler, reminiscent of the pile of minced meat I witnessed in the movie “Ant-Man.”

“Allow me to assist you inside.”

Fēng Língcàn chuckled lightly and shook his head, while Bái Yǐng gave him a disheartened look.

I turned my head and walked briskly towards the nearby city gate, where everyone was heading with their luggage.

Following the group seemed like the right choice. Sī Yīnuò caught up to me and said, “Wait for me, Jiě Jiě (older sister).”

“Sure,” I replied. His giant white python transformed back into a small white snake, coiling around his body. Even Sī Yīnuò had such power, equipped with his own flying device. I couldn’t understand why the Divine and Demon Academy had invited an ordinary person like me. Was it some kind of joke?

“Duang~~” Suddenly, it felt like I crashed into an invisible glass wall, and I became instantly dizzy. I saw Sī Yīnuò, who had just passed through the city gate, turn back in surprise and look at me. “XiǎoLán Jiě Jiě (Little Lán, older sister)—what’s wrong with you?”

His voice echoed through the empty space, and I clutched my head in pain, crouching down. It was excruciating—ugh! What on earth was happening?

What’s happening?

“XiǎoLán Jiě Jiě? XiǎoLán Jiě Jiě?!” Sī Yīnuò ran back to my side, gently shaking my shoulder.

People kept passing by, laughing as they glanced at me.

“What’s going on?” Fēng Língcàn came back to my side with concern. Why couldn’t I get rid of them?

“XiǎoLán Jiě Jiě can’t enter the barrier…” Sī Yīnuò timidly replied, keeping his head down.

“Xiǎo Lán?”

“Yes, my sister’s name is Xià XiǎoLán…”

“Alright, I understand. You go ahead and register; I’ll handle this.”

“Got it… Goodbye, XiǎoLán Jiě Jiě,” Sī Yīnuò said, looking back three times as he walked away.

I covered my head, wanting to tell him not to leave, but I was afraid that if I spoke, the pain would intensify. It would be so embarrassing. I didn’t want to be laughed at by this group of divine young men and women anymore.

“Tsk.” Fēng Língcàn chuckled beside me, and I glared at him with my face lowered. Suddenly, he bent down and extended his hand to touch my forehead. I was taken aback as his hand covered mine that was pressed against my forehead. The warmth of his hand made my heart skip a beat.

In that moment of slight tension, I felt a gentle warmth seeping through my hand and onto my forehead, gradually easing the pain.

He withdrew his hand, and I touched my forehead in astonishment, finding that even the swelling from earlier had disappeared.

“Is it possible that you haven’t worn your emblem yet?” Fēng Língcàn asked gently.

Confused, I looked at him. “What emblem?”

He stood up and looked at me kindly. “As a new student, did you receive an envelope, which contains the admission letter?”

I took a moment to think. “Oh!” I quickly removed my backpack and retrieved the envelope. “Is this it? But I can’t open it.”

Fēng Língcàn shook his head, smiling lightly. Another glimpse of the red figure passed by, and Fū Sū’s crimson scarf fluttered in front of me. He glanced at me with a raised eyebrow. “Are you really a new student or just pretending?”

I couldn’t be bothered to look at him and turned my face away.

Fēng Língcàn’s expression grew serious. “Fū Sū, don’t play such childish jokes. They can have serious consequences.”

“Haha!” Fū Sū crossed his arms and chuckled mockingly, casting a disdainful glance at Fēng Língcàn. “In the Immortal Realm, we’ve heard that getting into bed can be dangerous, but we’ve never heard of anyone falling off and dying. After all, she was rescued, wasn’t she? Hmph!”

Getting into bed?!!!!

This, this, this, this place… it’s becoming quite mature.

Wait, I’m an adult too.

But why do I still feel like something is off?

Aren’t immortals supposed to be different from us ordinary people, at least in terms of shallowness?

Fēng Língcàn turned away, his expression darkening, ignoring Fū Sū.

Fū Sū glanced at us, let out a scornful laugh, and then flew away. His red scarf swayed in the wind, and his striking figure prompted screams from the girls who stopped in their tracks, gazing up at him in admiration.

Fū Sū is really popular.

Tch, I thought that immortals would be different from us mortals, or at least not as superficial. But it seems they also judge based on appearances.

Fēng Língcàn smiled once again. “Don’t mind him. Just keep your distance from him in the future.”

“Don’t worry! I will!” I absolutely need to stay away from him! I don’t need you, senior, to remind me!
