Seeing Cheng Ye’s dazed expression, Pei Qinghuai raised an eyebrow. “You haven’t encountered something like this before, have you, Captain Cheng?”
Cheng Ye’s round eyes looked at Pei Qinghuai, and he nodded. Pei Qinghuai thought Cheng Ye must have had a lot of luck on his side to have avoided such situations for so many years. He chuckled lightly. “You’ve done well so far, but you’ll face more of these in the future.”
Pei Qinghuai didn’t miss the chance to praise himself. “Especially when you’re with me.”
This made Cheng Ye laugh again. He refilled his glass with juice and raised it. “We came out to relax, so let’s not talk about work. Tonight, it’s on me.”
Pei Qinghuai raised his glass without hesitation. “Thanks for the treat.”
Just as they finished their meal and were about to discuss their next destination, Cheng Ye’s phone vibrated. It was a call from Zhang Yibao. Pei Qinghuai glanced at the screen and said, “See, here comes the clue.”
Cheng Ye looked at Pei Qinghuai and answered the phone. “What’s up?”
On the other end, Zhang Yibao was multitasking with a mouse in one hand and the phone in the other. “Captain Cheng, we’ve made a new discovery.”
Cheng Ye’s eyelids twitched. He looked at Pei Qinghuai and whispered, “There’s a new development.”
Zhang Yibao continued, “Captain, do you remember the fanatical fan of Guo Jiayi that Fang Yuan mentioned?”
Cheng Ye replied, “Yes.”
Zhang Yibao said, “I initially found nothing unusual. This person stopped being a fan a year ago, and Guo Jiayi hasn’t appeared on any of her social media accounts since then. However, her attempts at hiding her activities were not very sophisticated. I found some overlap between pictures posted on her main account and her secondary account, which led me to believe she is still obsessed with Guo Jiayi.”
“I dug deeper and discovered that her secondary account is dedicated to stalking Guo Jiayi. She even knows the exact times he enters and leaves his home.”
Cheng Ye responded, “We’ll come back right away.”
Zhang Yibao said, “Alright.”
When Cheng Ye and Pei Qinghuai returned, the rest of the team was already in the meeting room. Zhang Yibao started the briefing. “Yi Qingqing, female, 20 years old, works in the self-media industry. Her online name is ‘Qing Qing Yi.’ She has a secondary account, which, despite IP masking, was easy to trace.”
Zhang Yibao pointed to the screen. “This is Yi Qingqing’s secondary account. It’s filled with posts about Guo Jiayi. All her social media accounts under this handle are exclusively about him.”
Fang Yuan looked at the flamboyant posts on the screen and clicked his tongue. “She knows more about Guo Jiayi than his own mother.”
Chen Xiaonuan shuddered. “Isn’t it creepy? A stranger watching you every day without your knowledge.”
Jiang Fei sniffed. “It’s just like Feng Daqiang.”
Hearing this, Chen Xiaonuan rubbed her arms in disgust. Zhang Yibao continued, “Yi Qingqing is much more meticulous and cautious than Feng Daqiang.”
He then displayed a few pictures. “These are surveillance footage from a month ago. They clearly show Yi Qingqing with Guo Jiayi’s son, Guo Xiaofei, at the school gate.”
Chen Xiaonuan blinked. “Maybe this is why Guo Xiaofei stopped going to school.”
“Possibly,” Zhang Yibao said. “Yi Qingqing is careful, but she overestimated her own abilities.”
