HD Chapter 33

Extra 3

Xu Zhi hates this job very, very much.

Xu Zhi likes his employer very, very much.

When he celebrated his 23rd birthday, he made a few simple wishes to the randomly inserted candles. He hoped that the summer would no longer be so hot, that the sun would not rise so early, and that he could sleep wherever he wanted.

But summer is still so hot. The highest temperature in September can reach 39 degrees Celsius, making it impossible to go out during the day.

The weather forecast showed sunrise at 5:42 a.m., but it actually started to light up much earlier than that.

As for sleeping in, he hasn’t slept in for three days.

He gets up on time at 6:30 every morning. After getting up, he has to clean up, throw his employer’s dirty clothes from the previous day into the washing machine, and then prepare breakfast for him.

Facts have proven that even if he likes his employer, it will not make him change his attitude towards this job.

“Mr. Zhou,” Xu Zhi stood in the kitchen, holding a wooden spatula in his hand and a professional smile on his face, “How cooked do you want your omelet to be?”

Zhou Mu leaned next to the table, took a look into the pan, and gave a friendly reminder, “It seems like it’s not up to me. It’s already burned.”

Xu Zhi poked the burnt fried egg with the corner of the spatula, retracted his hand, picked up the pan the next second, and put the fried egg into the trash can with an expressionless face.

Zhou Mu stretched out his hand to stop him, but before he could, the burnt fried egg went into the trash can.

Xu Zhi took another egg, cracked it into the pan, looked up at Zhou Mu, and showed that restrained and polite smile. If he looked closely, he was a little impatient. He said, “Now you can decide, how do you want your eggs cooked? Rare?”

Zhou Mu coughed lightly, looked away, and tentatively said, “Is it okay if it’s well done?”

As if he was afraid that Xu Zhi would find it troublesome, he added, “I don’t eat soft-boiled eggs.”

Xu Zhi nodded, “Of course.”

After he finished speaking, he stopped looking at Zhou Mu and stared at the egg in the pan that had begun to emit the aroma of protein. The wooden spatula rested on the edge of the pan and stopped moving.

Zhou Mu stared at the egg with him and spoke at the right time before the egg was about to burn, “Is it time to turn it over?”

Xu Zhi glanced at him and turned the egg over.

The egg has already achieved a perfect golden color on one side, and Zhou Mu thinks that this egg should be ready to eat.

However, he underestimated Xu Zhi’s dissatisfaction with this task. In the eager gaze of Zhou Mu, Xu Zhi took a chopstick and unexpectedly popped the egg yolk.

Zhou Mu: “…”

After hesitating for a moment, Zhou Mu asked, “Why did you pop it?”

Xu Zhi replied in a flat tone, “It cooks better this way.”

Zhou Mu said, “I’m not in a hurry, actually.”

“I am.” Xu Zhi frowned.

He reached out and turned off the fire and listed his tasks to Zhou Mu, “I have to dry the clothes later. After drying the clothes, I have to water the flowers, mop the floor, and take out the garbage…”

“Okay,” Zhou Mu interrupted him and took a plate to put out the omelet. “Actually, I think this omelet is more delicious. It is evenly heated and has a rich texture.”

Xu Zhi finally glanced at him with approval, then nodded.

Zhou Mu walked to the dining room holding a plate, and on the table were the instant seaweed egg drop soup that Xu Zhi personally prepared for him, the small steamed dumplings taken out from a takeout box by Xu Zhi, and the pickled mustard greens that Xu Zhi personally unwrapped for him.

Zhou Mu sat at the table and waited for Xu Zhi to sit over.

But Xu Zhi didn’t sit down. He stood upright at the table and refused to eat at the table with professionalism.

Zhou Mu tried to persuade Xu Zhi, “Let’s eat together.”

“I won’t,” Xu Zhi shook his head. “I don’t drink instant soup, I don’t eat pickled foods, and I don’t eat xiaolongbao with shiitake mushroom filling.”

Zhou Mu pushed his omelet plate towards him. Before he could say anything, Xu Zhi said, “I don’t eat omelets with popped yolks.”

“Then what do you want to eat?” Zhou Mu asked in a good temper, “I’ll order it for you.”

“No need, Mr. Zhou,” Xu Zhi said politely, “I’ve already ordered it myself. You have half an hour to go downstairs to work. I suggest you speed up your meal.”

Zhou Mu choked and said vaguely, “Oh.”

He is not as picky as Xu Zhi when it comes to eating, but he also doesn’t like instant soups, pickled foods, and mushroom-filled dumplings. The only thing he finished during this meal was the omelet made by Xu Zhi that had lost its entire yolk.

Almost as soon as he put down his chopsticks, Xu Zhi collected the plates and threw them into the sink.

“I can actually work here,” Zhou Mu said.

Xu Zhi didn’t answer but looked at Zhou Mu with disapproval. Zhou Mu stayed in a stalemate with him for a few seconds and then went downstairs dejectedly.

The matter started three days ago.

Three days ago, Zhou Mu had a short business trip, which involved the opening of a new hotel, so he had to go there in person. Fortunately, it didn’t take long, and it only took two days to go back and forth.

But when he came back with his luggage, he opened the door and saw Xu Zhi, who had never done any housework before, sitting on his knees, cleaning the floor.

Hearing the door knock, Xu Zhi turned around and gave a formal smile, “Mr. Zhou, you are back.”

Then everything was different.

Zhou Mu made a mistake. Not only did his business territory expand a little, he also proposed a new identity – the employer of the gold medal butler, Xu Zhi.

Xu Zhi’s housekeeper took care of his daily life diligently, but due to having only one bedroom in the house, Xu Zhi had been sleeping on the makeshift bed in the study for three days.

Moreover, every morning at 7:30, Xu Zhi insisted that Zhou Mu go to work. It’s worth noting that Zhou Mu, since becoming the boss, had never been to the office before nine.

Xu Zhi’s condition definitely required someone to be around, so Zhou Mu reluctantly resumed working from home. However, Xu Zhi remained unyielding, sternly stating, “I believe what you’re doing lacks professional ethics.”

Zhou Mu was dumbfounded by his rebuke, “Why do I have no professional ethics when working from home?”

“So many people in the company are working hard, but you are sitting on the sofa without replying to emails,” Xu Zhi said. “Don’t you think this is disrespectful to other colleagues?”

Zhou Mu was speechless and had to give in, “I still have a residence downstairs…”

“That’s great,” Xu Zhi interrupted, with an expression that could be described as gratifying, “I was worried that you would affect my work by dangling in front of my eyes.”

Zhou Mu: “…”

Xu Zhi smiled slightly, “Then you can go down now. See you at noon.”

So Zhou Mu’s schedule for three consecutive days was to get up at 6:30 in the morning, have breakfast at 7:00, go to work downstairs at 7:30, and come back for lunch at 12:00 noon. After lunch, Xu Zhi allowed him to rest for half an hour, and the next time he came up would be when it was time to get off work at 6:00 in the evening.

At exactly 12:00 noon, Zhou Mu finally “finished work” and went upstairs.

Xu Zhi had prepared lunch and was waiting for him.

On the table were two dishes and one soup carefully prepared by Xu Zhi, namely the pickled mustard that was not finished in the morning, an omelet that had lost its complete yolk shape, and a bowl of instant seaweed and egg drop soup that had not been completely boiled.

Zhou Mu sighed, walked to the table, pulled out a chair, and sat down, “Butler Xu, I think we should have a talk.”

“What do you want to talk to me about?” Xu Zhi seemed to be very modest but was actually very impatient.

“I gave you a secondary card, didn’t I?” Zhou Mu said, “The contact information for the surrounding restaurants was also sent to you by the secretary. We can actually order meals.”

“Mr. Zhou,” Xu Zhi said with a stern expression, “you have overlooked two issues.”

“First,” Xu Zhi pointed to himself, “I am your butler, responsible for arranging your clothing, food, shelter, and transportation. Others should not interfere.”

“Second,” Xu Zhi took out the supplementary card from his pocket, “Didn’t you say this is my salary card? Are you planning to make me spend my own money to support you? Or do you want to deduct my salary?”

Zhou Mu was stunned and said, “You know what the secondary card means, right?”

“I don’t know,” Xu Zhi said matter-of-factly, “but I know this is my card.”

“I know it’s your card, but…” Seeing how stubborn he was, Zhou Mu couldn’t help but stretch out his hand and pull his wrist, but Xu Zhi quickly shook him off.

Xu Zhi lowered his lips and said impersonally, “Mr. Zhou, your behavior has constituted sexual harassment in the workplace.”

Zhou Mu only felt a pot full of dog blood being poured on his head. Before he could think of what to say, Xu Zhi poured another pot of dog blood on him, “Are you sure you want to engage in an unwritten rule with me?”

Zhou Mu licked his lips, observing Xu Zhi’s expression. Seeing that he didn’t seem angry, he tentatively said, “What if I do?”

Xu Zhi still stood straight, looking directly at him without a sidelong glance. In a flat tone, “What form of unwritten rules do you want to impose on me?”

Zhou Mu didn’t know what Xu Zhi meant, so he had to ask, “What kind of unwritten rules can you accept?”

Xu Zhi stared at him for a while, then suddenly came over and squeezed between Zhou Mu’s legs, leaning on the dining table with his back, and put his hand on his shoulder.

Zhou Mu’s heart was beating wildly, and he didn’t know what he was going to do.

Xu Zhi looked at him for a few seconds, then bent down and kissed him on the lips, and they separated at the first touch.

“This kind of thing is acceptable,” Xu Zhi said, reaching down to untie Zhou Mu’s belt and said, “This kind of thing is also acceptable.”

“Xu Zhi,” Zhou Mu pressed his hand in a panic, “Why?”

“Why?” Xu Zhi frowned, “I came here specifically for you.”

“…Huh?” Zhou Mu was completely confused.

“Have you forgotten me?” Xu Zhi crossed his legs and sat naturally on Zhou Mu’s lap, wrapping his arms around his shoulders. “You saved me before and even gave me a kidney.”

Oh, Zhou Mu remembered.

Before he went on a business trip, he listened to Xu Zhi complain about a rich and bloody novel for a whole night. The heroine was plotted to fall off a cliff when she was a child. The hero saved her and gave her a blood transfusion and a kidney transplant. However, the hero lost his memory after cutting off his kidney, so he couldn’t recognize the heroine he was spending time with day and night.

Xu Zhi is indeed following the plot again.

It would be much easier if there was a script, Zhou Mu thought to himself.

He closed his eyes and opened them again. At that moment, his acting skills, which had been cultivated by Xu Zhi’s many unexpected roles, burst out. He suddenly realized and said, “It’s you!”

Zhou Mu’s acting skills should be superb. Xu Zhi’s face, which had been cold for three days, finally showed a smile. He was a little excited and rubbed against Zhou Mu’s thigh, “Do you remember?!”

Zhou Mu hugged him and nodded firmly, “My dear, I will never leave you again.”

Usually, when a bloody novel reaches this point, the protagonists will cry and hug each other and then do something inappropriate for children, but the bad thing is that Xu Zhi adapted the original plot.

He began by condemning Zhou Mu for his ungrateful behavior, then vented his dissatisfaction with the job, and finally concluded, “I love you, but I can’t be with you.”

So Zhou Mu had no choice but to channel his inner actor and shout out that classic line, “Don’t force me!”

Xu Zhi coldly snorted and said with a sarcastic tone, “What? Are you trying to force love now?”

Zhou Mu didn’t comment on his messy words. He immediately picked up Xu Zhi, walked to the bedroom, threw him on the bed, and then pressed on him. The whole set of actions was done in one smooth motion.

The two have been together for so many years, and their bodies are in perfect harmony. Zhou Mu succeeded without any effort.

The only discordant note was that even when Xu Zhi was knocked around, he didn’t forget his lines, “Zhou, you may have my body! But you can’t have my heart!”

Zhou Mu increased the force with each hit, muttering vaguely, “It’s okay; getting the body is enough.”

Before Xu Zhi regained consciousness, this kind of scene was replayed every day, sometimes even more than once. Xu Zhi’s lines evolved from “You may have my body but not my heart” to “You may have my flesh but can’t have my soul.”

On the ninth day, Xu Zhi woke up without warning.

Zhou Mu was preparing for the day’s “forced love” scene, and Xu Zhi called him from behind, “Senior.”

Zhou Mu paused, then went back to the bedside table drawer to get a condom, “Yeah.”

The two of them stopped talking. After about five minutes, Xu Zhi heard Zhou Mu’s shaky breathing.

He walked around the foot of the bed, half-knelt in front of Zhou Mu, and said softly, “Mr. Zhou, isn’t it time to do the unwritten rules to me?”

Zhou Mu looked up at him, his eyes slightly red and his voice hoarse as he said, “I’m still figuring out how to get your soul.”

“My soul is of no value,” Xu Zhi took his hand and put it to his heart, “But what’s inside is all yours.”

“It’s so interesting; how could it be of no value?” Zhou Mu said.

“Is it interesting?” Xu Zhi sat on the floor and rested his chin on Zhou Mu’s knees, “Don’t you find it annoying?”

“It’s very annoying,” Zhou Mu said, “It’s annoying to death.”

Xu Zhi looked up at him, and Zhou Mu pinched his chin, smiling at him. “But it makes you who you are, Xu Zhi.”

Xu Zhi also laughed along, “Do you want to consider becoming an actor for real?”

“No,” Zhou Mu shook his head, pulling Xu Zhi up to sit on the edge of the bed, and spoke slowly, “Xu Zhi, you know, my love for you cannot be acted out.”

“I loved many things before I turned 18, loved the evening breeze every day, loved nights without stars and the moon, loved sunrise, loved sunset.”

“I initially thought I would always love these things, but later I realized that these loves all have an expiration date because, after turning 18, I only love you.”

“I don’t have the ability to fight the illness, but I do have the ability to love Xu Zhi.”

“I will always love Xu Zhi.”

Zhou Mu’s Doc5 (Xu Zhi’s Chronicle): Xu Zhi has always believed that “Zhou Mu’s love for Xu Zhi will never end.”
