HD Chapter 5

Fantasy

Wen Shuyao’s office is very spacious, with two large, solid wooden cabinets placed against the wall.

One of them is a cabinet for storing medical records, which is locked.

The other one is Wen Shuyao’s personal bookshelf.

Zhou Mu’s physical examination took a long time, and Wen Shuyao was away, so Xu Zhi planned to take out a book from the bookcase to pass the time.

The bookcase is placed toward the inside, so Xu Zhi needs to pass by the medical record cabinet.

When Xu Zhi passed by that cabinet, he couldn’t help but think that his medical records were still locked inside it, even though he had never looked at them. He knew it was quite extensive.

There were many books in Wen Shuyao’s office, but they were all professional books. For Xu Zhi, they were boring and obscure, so he picked up a book at random but fell asleep after only flipping through a few pages.

When he woke up again, Zhou Mu had returned from the examination, still holding the book he had been reading before he went to sleep.

People always lack vigilance when they first wake up from a nap, and Xu Zhi is no different.

He did not call out to Zhou Mu immediately but looked at him with misty eyes.

Zhou Mu sat on the sofa opposite, with his head slightly lowered, holding a copy of ‘Guidelines for the Treatment of Mental Disorders’ and reading it carefully.

This book should be one that Wen Shuyao has been reading quite frequently lately. Some corners of the book, specifically the section about drug adverse reactions and their management, were folded.

The curtains have been opened, and the sky outside is a little gray. It must be getting late.

There were no lights on in the office, so the light was not very good, but Zhou Mu didn’t seem to be bothered by the light. Xu Zhi guessed that this was the first time Zhou Mu had read a book in his life.

Zhou Mu’s eyes were slightly lowered, and the angle of looking downward blocked his dark eyes. From Xu Zhi’s perspective, he looked very obedient.

Zhou Mu was not a fast reader, and he turned a page very slowly. When he turned the page for the second time, he raised his head and glanced at Xu Zhi.

Xu Zhi still kept staring at him. He didn’t react for a moment, and he was caught peeping.

Xu Zhi quickly turned his face and sat up straight in embarrassment.

“Are you awake?” Zhou Mu put the book on his knees and looked up at Xu Zhi.

“Yeah.” Xu Zhi responded and asked Zhou Mu, “Is it over?”

“Yes, it’s all done.” Zhou Mu closed the book, stood up, put the book back on the bookcase, and walked towards Xu Zhi, “Are we going back now?”

“Where is Shuyao?” Xu Zhi looked around the room, but Wen Shuyao was not there.

“Doctor Wen has a patient,” Zhou Mu said, “and asked you not to wait for him.”

“Okay,” Xu Zhi nodded lazily, standing up unsteadily with his hand on the armrest of the sofa, “Then let’s go back.”

He slept for a long time; his legs were a little numb, and he couldn’t stand still. He jerked forward suddenly, and his knees made a loud noise on the coffee table.

Zhou Mu ran over with quick eyes and hands, put his arm around his waist, and pulled him into his arms, “Is everything okay?”

Xu Zhi’s kneecap just hit the rounded corner of the coffee table, not with much force, but with enough force that tears of pain immediately came out.

Zhou Mu panicked, used his other hand to wipe away his tears, and asked in a tense tone, “Does it hurt?”

He still kept hugging Xu Zhi. The two were very close, and the hot breath he exhaled while talking sprayed on the side of Xu Zhi’s face.

Maybe it’s because the organs responsible for producing sex hormones are faster to wake up than the brain. Xu Zhi’s attention began to wander.

He rarely gets so close to people, so he feels a little awkward, especially with Zhou Mu’s tone of voice, which is unconventionally caring.

Xu Zhi subconsciously looked at Zhou Mu’s expression.

Zhou Mu frowned slightly, one hand still half-raised at a loss. The knuckles were a little wet from the tears that had just fallen from his eyes.

Xu Zhi admitted that he was a complete pervert.

When he wrote the character Zhou Mu, he did it completely according to his own preferences. Zhou Mu, from his external appearance to his inner temperament, all met the standard of ‘what Xu Zhi likes’.

Xu Zhi thought that if Zhou Mu didn’t have such a dangerous status, he might have already lost control of himself this morning and done something with Zhou Mu.

“Xu Zhi?” Zhou Mu tilted his head slightly, interrupting Xu Zhi’s thoughts, “Where did it knock?”

Xu Zhi’s thoughts returned.

Perhaps someone had adjusted the air conditioning while he was sleeping, so the air in Doctor Wen’s office wasn’t too cold. Zhou Mu’s body temperature was high, and Xu Zhi felt a bit overheated.

Zhou Mu’s hands were big, and his arms were strong. He put his arms around Xu Zhi’s waist, giving Xu Zhi the illusion that he was captured.

This is dangerous.

So, Xu Zhi calmed down, stood up straight, and pushed Zhou Mu away.

“What are you doing!” Xu Zhi started to scare Zhou Mu again with the fierce tone that he was very good at and very accustomed to using with Zhou Mu.

Zhou Mu let go of his hand, not caring about his sudden temper, and asked again in a polite manner, “Where did you knock it?”

After he finished speaking, he half squatted down, squeezed between the coffee table and the sofa in an awkward posture, and gently pressed his thumb on Xu Zhi’s knee, “Is it here?”

Xu Zhi only felt a little pain when he first hit it, and now he feels nothing. However, Zhou Mu’s hot fingers pressed on his knee, which still caused his calf muscles to twitch conditionally.

Zhou Mu didn’t know what Xu Zhi was thinking. He thought he had hurt him by pressing him, so he rubbed him more gently.

Xu Zhi felt very itchy, but in order not to lose face, he still moved his legs stiffly and said to Zhou Mu, “It’s okay.”

Zhou Mu took back his hand and stood up, smiling at Xu Zhi, “That’s good.”

After saying that, he took the lead and walked towards the door. Xu Zhi thought in a daze that the air conditioner was indeed not cold enough today.

Xu Zhi couldn’t drive, so the two of them still took a taxi back. The taxi stopped at the entrance of the residential community.

Zhou Mu kept about three steps behind Xu Zhi, so when he spoke, Xu Zhi always felt that Zhou Mu’s voice was wrapping him from behind.

Zhou Mu said: “Doctor Wen asked me to bring you the medicine.”

After hearing this, Xu Zhi suddenly turned around nervously and asked, “Have you met?”

“Yes,” Zhou Mu nodded, his expression suddenly became a little proud and boastful, “He doesn’t know who I am.”

Xu Zhi was stunned for a moment.

To be honest, that was not his first thought.

Perhaps people with mental disorders generally have a strong sense of shame and low self-esteem about their mental condition. When Xu Zhi heard that Zhou Mu would have him pass on the medication, his first thought was whether Zhou Mu would know he had anxiety disorder.

But upon further reflection, it seemed that Zhou Mu’s thoughts should have come first.

Xu Zhi turned around in embarrassment and did not continue the topic.

Zhou Mu didn’t feel discouraged even though he didn’t hear Xu Zhi’s compliment and continued to walk quietly behind Xu Zhi.

Xu Zhi’s gaze couldn’t capture him, which made him feel unsafe, so he ordered Zhou Mu, “You go ahead.”

“Okay.” Zhou Mu responded and walked in front of Xu Zhi.

His shoulders are very broad, and Xu Zhi’s T-shirt didn’t fit him well, so Xu Zhi can see the smooth and powerful muscle lines under the cotton T-shirt.

Xu Zhi accidentally thought of Wen Shuyao asking Zhou Mu if he was his one-night stand partner. To be honest, Xu Zhi was not sure.

Although he had never had a one-night stand before, he knew that waking up with two men naked and entangled was definitely not innocent.

Of course, the assumption is that they are two gay people.

Xu Zhi didn’t know whether Zhou Mu was gay or not. He didn’t mention it when he wrote the character settings, but he really liked men.

“Are you looking at me?” Zhou Mu suddenly stopped, turned to face Xu Zhi, and asked knowingly.

Xu Zhi looked away guiltily, his eyes wandering around, and he quibbled fiercely, “Who’s looking at you!”

“Yeah, you didn’t look,” Zhou Mu’s tone was somewhat upbeat, sounding as if he didn’t believe Xu Zhi’s words. However, he restrained his laughter because of Xu Zhi’s sternness.

Although Zhou Mu had a very aggressive face, he actually loved to smile. Xu Zhi discovered that when Zhou Mu smiled, he had a very shallow dimple on his right cheek, which could not be seen without looking carefully.

Xu Zhi seemed to have discovered something new and interesting. He reached out and poked the small depression dishonestly, “What is this?”

“Dimples,” Zhou Mu good-naturedly allowed Xuzhi to poke him, not flinching.

“Tsk,” Xu Zhi poked twice more, sarcastically saying, “Big man, why do you have dimples?”

After saying that, he stopped looking at Zhou Mu and walked forward on his own.

Zhou Mu caught up and walked beside Xu Zhi, then suddenly asked, “If you didn’t look at me earlier, then can you take a look at me now?”

Maybe it’s because he still has cognitive biases about real society, but he doesn’t seem to think this is a sentence with inherent meaning.

He spoke in a calm tone and waited seriously for Xu Zhi’s answer.

Xu Zhi is very afraid of heat. Although the sun is setting now, the accumulated temperature throughout the day has not dissipated, so even the wind is hot now.

Xu Zhi felt that even Zhou Mu’s words were heated by the summer wind, carrying an unusual warmth, making his ears blush with heat.

“What are you looking at?” Xu Zhi stopped and looked at Zhou Mu.

Zhou Mu looked very serious, and it seemed that Xu Zhi could easily have wild ideas, so Xu Zhi took two seconds to reflect on himself.

Xu Zhi tried hard to convince himself that even though he was gay, not just anyone would do that, especially considering that this guy might not even be human.

“Here,” Zhou Mu said, reaching out and pointing at his stomach, “it’s empty.”

Xu Zhi: “…”
