HWMTOTBM Chapter 14

Su Yuanjiu had an apartment at Yunhe Lake, which he bought when his career was just starting.

“But I moved out after living there for two years,” Su Yuanjiu explained briefly.

Xu Yu nodded and asked, “So why did you move back?”

Su Yuanjiu replied, “It’s a bit complicated.”

Xu Yu acknowledged with an “oh.”

As for the details, Xu Yu didn’t press further.

Tonight, the orange sunset faded faster than the last time, and soon, the sky turned dark, the colors disappearing.

Streetlights came on, illuminating the garden’s stone path, which was just wide enough for two people to walk side by side.

One of them was Xu Yu, and the other was Su Yuanjiu. Su Yuanjiu was a bit taller, around 185 cm, or maybe 187?

As Xu Yu pondered this, an image of Su Yuanjiu rolling up his shirt sleeves, revealing the prayer beads on his wrist, popped into his mind. Xu Yu discreetly lowered his head and indeed saw the prayer beads peeking out from under Su Yuanjiu’s coat sleeves.

After a few more steps, Su Yuanjiu spoke up and asked Xu Yu, “Do you usually come out for a walk in the evening?”

Xu Yu nodded: “If I’m home, I come out for a walk after dinner.”

Su Yuanjiu asked, “And then?”

Xu Yu replied, “Then I go back home.”

Su Yuanjiu chuckled and continued to ask, “What do you do at home?”

Xu Yu replied, “I work out.”

Su Yuanjiu asked, “Anything else?”

Xu Yu thought for a moment: “I just do whatever I feel like.”

Su Yuanjiu asked, “Besides singing, is there anything else you enjoy?”

Xu Yu hummed thoughtfully: “There should be.”

Su Yuanjiu laughed. “Should be?”

Xu Yu laughed too. “Just hobbies to pass the time,” he thought for a moment and gave a specific answer. “Lego.”

Su Yuanjiu nodded.

Xu Yu asked in return. “Do you play Lego?”

Su Yuanjiu thought for a while before saying. “I do.”

At this moment, the music suddenly played from a small speaker on the community lawn, startling Xu Yu and causing him to jump slightly. This jump almost made him fall into Su Yuanjiu’s arms. Fortunately, he stepped back just in time, avoiding a collision.

Xu Yu turned to smile at Su Yuanjiu, seeing him raise a hand, probably to steady him.

“You get scared so easily,” Su Yuanjiu said, lowering his hand.

Xu Yu neither confirmed nor denied, just smiled again to brush off the topic.

“Do you cook at home?” Su Yuanjiu asked.

Xu Yu shook his head: “No.”

Su Yuanjiu asked, “What do you eat then?”

Xu Yu replied, “Takeout, or I eat out.”

Su Yuanjiu asked, “Is it that you don’t cook, or you can’t cook?”

Xu Yu shook his head. “I can’t cook, and I don’t like cooking.”

Remembering Su Yuanjiu’s video, Xu Yu added, “I used to cook, but I wasn’t good at it. People complained it tasted bad, so I stopped.” Then he pretended to casually ask Su Yuanjiu, “Can you cook?”

Su Yuanjiu nodded. “I can, and it might be quite good.”

Xu Yu recalled the delicious-looking braised pork ribs from the video, probably all eaten by Xie Nan.

Xu Yu couldn’t help but swallow and said, “People who can cook are impressive.”

Su Yuanjiu asked, “Do you want to try?”

Xu Yu shook his head. “No, I’ll stick to takeout.”

Su Yuanjiu smiled helplessly.

At the end of the path was Xu Yu’s home.

They hadn’t walked far, but they were almost there.

As they walked, Xu Yu noticed out of the corner of his eye that Su Yuanjiu looked up at his head.

Su Yuanjiu said, “You didn’t bring Xiao Xuyu today.”

“Xiao Xuyu,” Xu Yu repeated, then laughed and used his ring finger to brush his bangs: “Xiao Xuyu is upstairs. I just got back from outside; I was in the studio all afternoon.”

Su Yuanjiu asked, “Where is your studio?”

Xu Yu glanced at Su Yuanjiu.

“Sorry,” Su Yuanjiu smiled and took a step back. “I’m asking a lot of questions. You don’t have to answer.”

Xu Yu looked down and raised his eyebrows slightly. “The studio is at Shuiyun Plaza.”

With that, they arrived at Xu Yu’s building. Xu Yu suddenly took a big step forward, turned to face Su Yuanjiu, and said, “Any more questions, Mr. Su? I’m home now.”

Su Yuanjiu looked into Xu Yu’s eyes, “Not for now.”

Xu Yu nodded.

Su Yuanjiu added, “But there will be more in the future.”

Xu Yu replied, “I’ll answer them then.”

Su Yuanjiu smiled, “Okay.”

Xu Yu pointed behind him, “I’m going up.”

Instead of saying goodbye, Su Yuanjiu asked, “Don’t you have any questions for me?”

Xu Yu looked puzzled. “What questions?”

Su Yuanjiu said, “For example, you could ask which building Mr. Su lives in.”

Xu Yu laughed and played along. “Which building do you live in, Mr. Su?”

Su Yuanjiu replied, “Building 18, unit 1905.”

Xu Yu nodded, “Got it.”

Su Yuanjiu said, “You’re welcome to visit.”

Xu Yu responded, “Sure.”

On the way back, Xu Yu felt a bit dazed, sensing something was off. Once he got into the elevator, he realized what it was.

He took out his phone, opened WeChat, and sent a message to Su Yuanjiu.

Xu Yu: My place is 1507.

Xu Yu: You’re welcome to visit too.

Su Yuanjiu quickly replied: Sure.

Maybe because he talked about Lego with Su Yuanjiu last night, after his workout and shower, Xu Yu suddenly felt like picking up the Lego set he hadn’t finished in his study.

In one night, he finally completed it and then went to sleep.

This time, he didn’t mentally remind himself not to dream about Su Yuanjiu, so very strangely, he did dream about him. In his dream, Su Yuanjiu was cooking for him at his place.

While cooking, somehow, they ended up on the couch together.

Yes.

Doing that very impure thing. But the dream wasn’t clear, the process was vague, and all he could remember was Su Yuanjiu’s voice.

Su Yuanjiu called him Xu Yu and referred to his lower part as Little (Xiao) Xu Yu.

The next morning, Xu Yu woke up startled, his whole body tingling with excitement.

After his cells calmed down, his brain started racing. The dreams were getting more outrageous each time.

He felt extremely embarrassed.

“Xu Yu, what’s wrong with you?”

After resting in bed for a while, Yun Jie called, saying she’d be downstairs in twenty minutes.

Xu Yu hoarsely replied, “Got it,” and hung up.

After washing his face, he felt much more awake, changed his clothes, and went downstairs just as Yun Jie arrived.

Today they were going to a different place. Like yesterday, Xu Yu needed to get his makeup done at the company first, then head out with the team.

In the car, Xu Yu was browsing Weibo when a WeChat notification popped up.

Since he had dreamt about Su Yuanjiu last night, his heart raced uncontrollably when he saw Su Yuanjiu’s name. He was annoyed by this reflex.

Su Yuanjiu: The company is busy in the morning. You and your assistant can use my elevator to go up.

Su Yuanjiu: I’ve arranged it. Your car can park right at the entrance.

Su Yuanjiu: Do you know how to get there?

Xu Yu didn’t reply immediately. He put away his phone and glanced at Yun Jie.

Yun Jie was chatting with a friend.

“Yun Jie,” Xu Yu called.

Yun Jie, engrossed in her conversation, didn’t look up. “What is it?”

Xu Yu rubbed his eyebrow. “Do you want to use the private elevator at JSS?”

Yun Jie didn’t immediately grasp it. She slowly looked up. “Huh?”

Xu Yu licked his lips and explained, “He said it’s crowded in the morning. We can use his elevator instead of squeezing with others.”

Yun Jie opened and closed her mouth several times, then stomped her foot, “Damn.”

Xu Yu replied to Su Yuanjiu: Got it.

Xu Yu: Thanks for the trouble.

Yun Jie knew the way, so the previously quiet car ride became lively.

Of course, it was mainly Yun Jie who was lively. Even though there was still a long way to the JSS building, she repeatedly instructed the driver to take a specific route.

“Switch lanes early. If you go straight, you’ll have to turn around, and that road is tough to turn on.”

Yun Jie seemed ready to drive herself, scaring the driver into thinking something was wrong.

Once she was sure the driver understood her directions, she finally sat quietly.

Then she stared at Xu Yu.

Xu Yu, feeling the stare for too long, couldn’t take it and turned to face her.

Yun Jie held out her hands as if saying, “You handed me this candy yourself.”

Xu Yu smiled. “You might not believe this.”

Yun Jie excitedly urged, “Tell me.”

Xu Yu: “He’s recently lived at Yunhe Lake.”

Yun Jie gasped loudly.

Following Yun Jie’s directions, the driver successfully parked at the private entrance of the JSS building. As soon as the car stopped, a staff member approached, opened the door, and helped Yun Jie out, then extended a hand to Xu Yu.

Xu Yu thanked him and went inside with Yun Jie.

Upstairs, in the makeup room, Xu Yu opened WeChat and sent a message to Su Yuanjiu.

Xu Yu: I’m here.

Xu Yu: Thank you.

Su Yuanjiu: You’re welcome.

Su Yuanjiu: Already downstairs?

Xu Yu: Yes.

So, Su Yuanjiu is at the company today.

Xu Yu looked up at himself in the mirror and then sneaked a glance at Yun Jie, who was playing with her phone. Yun Jie had said to restrain himself, and indeed, she had restrained herself a lot. Even in today’s situation, she only secretly smiled and didn’t say much.

Just like yesterday, Xu Yu got his makeup done, changed his clothes, and received even more exaggerated compliments from Yun Jie than yesterday before heading to the shooting location with the team.

The weather today was as good as yesterday, and even better, the temperature wasn’t as high. Xu Yu didn’t feel hot wearing two layers, making the shoot more comfortable.

After getting out of the car and touching up his makeup, the shoot began.

The scenes at the beach yesterday were quieter, but today was different. There were more scenes to shoot, and Xu Yu needed to run.

The location was a park in Lin City, and since it was work hours, there were relatively fewer people around. After a few takes and completing half of the shoot, Xu Yu took a break before moving to another spot.

In the next scene, Xu Yu had to jump over a camera and continue running. Before officially starting, the director set up the camera and asked Xu Yu to try it out.

Xu Yu nodded, took a few steps back, ran a short distance, and was about to leap when he heard a different voice nearby.

Someone shouted, “President Su.”

Xu Yu instinctively looked in that direction.

When Xu Yu saw Su Yuanjiu and locked eyes with him, his legs suddenly weakened.

He failed to leap over the camera, tripped, lost his balance, and fell forward, landing on his knees on the ground.

Xu Yu: “…”

Xu Yu: ???

Xu Yu tried to lower his head.

Just let a hole open up and swallow him; he didn’t want to get up.
