At the moment he fell, Xu Yu’s first thought was how embarrassing it was to trip after seeing a handsome guy. Then, he felt the pain in his hands and legs.
Immediately, many people gathered around him.
“Are you okay, Xu Yu?”
“Are you hurt?”
“Where did you fall?”
“Can you stand up?”
Xu Yu looked up and saw Yun Jie.
Yun Jie’s expression looked more painful than Xu Yu’s, her brows tightly furrowed as she supported Xu Yu’s arm, “Are you okay?”
Xu Yu whispered so only Yun Jie could hear, “It hurts.”
“Where did you get hurt? Can you move?” Yun Jie asked.
They were on a concrete floor, and since Xu Yu had been running before he fell, he slid forward a bit when he hit the ground.
Yun Jie assisted Xu Yu in taking a seat nearby; as more people gathered, Yun Jie squatted in front of him, taking his hand and turning it palm up.
At this moment, Su Yuanjiu also came over, half-kneeling in front of him.
Su Yuanjiu asked, “Are you okay?”
Xu Yu tried hard to control his expression, “I’m fine.”
Su Yuanjiu also looked down at his palm.
There were scratches but no bleeding, just some swelling and redness.
After a while, Xu Yu’s hand hurt less. He brushed off the sand and looked down.
His pants were torn, and his knee hurt a lot.
“Lift it up so we can see,” Su Yuanjiu said.
Xu Yu nodded and grabbed his pants leg. At the same time, Su Yuanjiu asked, “Did anyone bring a medical kit?”
Someone immediately responded affirmatively and ran to get it.
Xu Yu had only lifted his pants halfway to his calf when he saw blood trickling down.
Initially, it only hurt a bit, but seeing the blood made it hurt even more.
“Oh my,” Yun Jie exclaimed, “It’s so bad.”
Xu Yu continued to lift his pants while Su Yuanjiu said, “Slowly, don’t touch the wound.”
Xu Yu carefully lifted his pants until his entire knee was exposed.
“The skin is scraped,” Yun Jie said, reaching out but hesitating to touch, her hand hovering over his knee before pulling back.
Su Yuanjiu inquired, “How about the other side? Lift it up and see.”
Xu Yu lifted his other pants leg, “The other side doesn’t hurt as much.”
It wasn’t as bad, but it was still scraped and bleeding.
It was really painful now, and Xu Yu’s eyes were a little red, his jaw clenched tightly.
Soon, the medical kit arrived. The girl who brought it also squatted down, opened the kit, and took out a bottle of water.
“Let’s clean the wound first, then disinfect with iodine,” she said, opening the bottle.
Seeing the water about to be poured, Xu Yu grabbed Yun Jie’s arm, “Yun Jie, Yun Jie.”
The girl paused, not yet pouring the water, when Su Yuanjiu took the bottle.
“I’ll do it,” Su Yuanjiu said, moving closer and asking Xu Yu, “Are you afraid of pain?”
Xu Yu pressed his lips together, not answering.
Su Yuanjiu looked up at the surrounding people and said, “You all go back to your tasks.”
Everyone received the message, snapped out of their daze, and dispersed, finding things to do even if they had nothing urgent.
Now, only Su Yuanjiu, Yun Jie, and Xu Yu remained.
Su Yuanjiu asked again, “Are you afraid of pain?”
His voice was softer and seemed gentler than before.
Xu Yu reluctantly admitted, “No.”
Yun Jie, whose hand was tightly held, unceremoniously added, “He’s very afraid of pain. President Su, please be gentle.”
Xu Yu glanced at Yun Jie.
Su Yuanjiu said, “Endure it; it might hurt a bit.”
Su Yuanjiu raised the bottle, and at that moment, Xu Yu’s thoughts cleared up, and he realized how pretentious it felt to have Su Yuanjiu treat his wound.
Didn’t he have hands?
“President Su,” Xu Yu blurted out, grabbing the bottle, “I can do it myself.”
Due to Xu Yu’s movement, water splashed out, landing on his wound.
In the next second, Xu Yu exclaimed, “Ah, ah!”
Su Yuanjiu chuckled, “Let me do it.”
With that, Su Yuanjiu poured the water, and Xu Yu clutched Yun Jie’s arm, his brows tightly knitted.
“Hold on, it will be over soon,” Su Yuanjiu said softly.
Xu Yu responded, “Okay.”
Once the blood was washed away, the wound became visible.
“No wonder it hurts so much; it’s really scraped here,” Yun Jie said, feeling heartache as she looked at the continuously bleeding wound.
Su Yuanjiu washed it some more, and then found iodine and cotton swabs in the medical kit.
“I’ll apply it,” Su Yuanjiu said.
Xu Yu nodded, and Su Yuanjiu gently pressed the iodine-soaked swab on the wound. Xu Yu’s leg trembled, and Su Yuanjiu immediately lifted the swab.
“Does it hurt?” Su Yuanjiu asked.
Xu Yu bit his lip and shook his head.
“I’ll be gentle. Let me know if it hurts,” Su Yuanjiu said.
Xu Yu replied, “Okay.”
Su Yuanjiu moved delicately and gently, taking a long time to cover the wound entirely with iodine before bandaging it with gauze.
Seeing that Su Yuanjiu was about to help with the other side, Xu Yu quickly stopped him, “I’ll do this side myself.”
Xu Yu reached for the bottle in Su Yuanjiu’s hand, but Su Yuanjiu dodged, and their hands briefly touched.
Xu Yu quickly withdrew his hand.
“I’ll handle it,” Su Yuanjiu insisted.
Xu Yu could feel Yun Jie’s grip tightening.
The other side didn’t need washing, just a swab, and it didn’t hurt as much.
While applying iodine, Su Yuanjiu asked, “Didn’t you say not to call me ‘President Su’?”
Xu Yu was stunned, “When did I call you that?”
Su Yuanjiu looked at Xu Yu, “Already forgotten?”
Yun Jie immediately reminded Xu Yu, “Just now, you said, ‘President Su, I’ll do it myself.'”
Xu Yu: “…Sorry.”
Su Yuanjiu didn’t mind, continuing to apply iodine.
Then Yun Jie spoke up.
“If not ‘President Su,’ what should we call you?”
Xu Yu felt a sense of doom.
Annoyingly, Su Yuanjiu followed up, “Yes, what should you call me?”
Xu Yu had no choice but to say, “Mr. Su.”
Su Yuanjiu chuckled softly.
Xu Yu could feel Yun Jie’s hand starting to tremble.
Like before, Su Yuanjiu applied the gauze.
In the silence, Su Yuanjiu asked, “Besides being afraid of pain, what else are you afraid of?”
Xu Yu mumbled, “Nothing else, I guess.”
Su Yuanjiu nodded, though he seemed skeptical.
“I think you’re pretty timid,” Su Yuanjiu said.
Before Xu Yu could argue, Yun Jie answered for him.
“He’s also afraid of ghosts. He sleeps with the lights on at night.”
Xu Yu: “…”
A voice seemed to drift from far away, “I’m a tough guy.”
Sure enough, Su Yuanjiu laughed.
“All done,” Su Yuanjiu said, finishing the bandaging and screwing the bottle cap back on. “Anywhere else?”
Xu Yu shook his head, “No more.”
“Does your hand hurt?” Su Yuanjiu asked.
Xu Yu clapped his hands, “No.”
“And your legs?” Su Yuanjiu asked.
Xu Yu patted his legs, “It doesn’t hurt.”
Su Yuanjiu nodded. “Let’s pause the shoot for today. We can resume once your injuries heal in a few days, okay?”
Xu Yu disagreed, “No need; it doesn’t hurt much anymore.”
Su Yuanjiu also disagreed, “We can’t risk reopening the wound. It won’t make a big difference to wait a bit.”
Xu Yu insisted, “It’s not that serious; let’s finish the shoot. There’s not much left.”
Su Yuanjiu took a wet wipe to clean his hands, his voice firm. “No.”
With Su Yuanjiu’s command, the shoot was indeed paused.
Fortunately, everyone was understanding. After spending a friendly day together yesterday, they rescheduled the shoot and encouraged Xu Yu to rest and recover.
Feeling like it was a big deal, Xu Yu felt a bit embarrassed.
After saying goodbye to everyone, they left the shoot location.
Once in the car with the door closed, Xu Yu saw Yun Jie clench her fists and stomp her feet excitedly.
Xu Yu sighed softly and looked at his wound again.
There was no more bleeding, and it didn’t hurt as much.
“President Su is so gentle, oh my gosh,” Yun Jie exclaimed.
“‘Does it hurt?'” Yun Jie mimicked. “‘I’ll be gentle.’ ‘Tell me if it hurts.'” She repeated the phrases, giggling, “So gentle, oh my.”
Xu Yu responded with a nod, acknowledging her, while looking at his phone.
Yun Jie turned to him, “Your relationship is progressing faster than I thought.”
Xu Yu chuckled, “Is that how you put it?”
Yun Jie asked, “How should I say it?”
Xu Yu replied, “Your relationship is better than I thought.”
“Okay, okay, the same thing,” Yun Jie laughed.
Xu Yu explained, “I ran into him in the neighborhood yesterday, and had a chat. You don’t need to overthink it.”
Yun Jie raised an eyebrow and suddenly said, “I saw you pull your hand back immediately when you touched Su Yuanjiu’s hand.”
Xu Yu asked, “Is there a problem with that?”
Yun Jie teased, “With your friends and older brothers, you hug and shake hands without hesitation. But why such a big reaction when you touched your Mr. Su?”
“First of all, he’s not my Mr. Su,” Xu Yu said. “Secondly, it was because you were there. I didn’t want you to overthink it.”
Yun Jie laughed. “You’re blaming me now.”
Xu Yu said, “Yun Jie, as my assistant, don’t you think your behavior is a bit inappropriate?”
“It might be a little wrong,” Yun Jie reflected briefly but quickly added, “but no one knows. I didn’t tell anyone.”
Xu Yu laughed, “Other people’s assistants keep their artists’ scandals and relationships hidden, but you’re rushing to the front lines to ship them.”
Yun Jie was amused and asked Xu Yu, “So is this a scandal or a relationship?”
Xu Yu: “…”
Xu Yu: “Yun Jie.”
“Alright, alright,” Yun Jie waved her hand. “But it depends on the type of artist. Those who rely on their looks need to keep things hidden. For someone like you, who relies on talent, it’s more relaxed. Plus, the industry is more open to same-sex relationships now. Those who boldly announce it don’t face much impact.”
Yun Jie laughed. “Listen to me talking as if you two are already together.”
Yun Jie shook her head again. “If you knew how to use your looks to your advantage, you would have been famous by now.”
Xu Yu replied calmly, “No, that’s too superficial. I still hope people will recognize my music.”
Yun Jie nodded. This was what she admired most about Xu Yu, that he knew what he wanted and what his goals were. With nothing much to do today, Yun Jie first sent Xu Yu back home and reminded him to be careful with his wound.
Except for a slight tearing sensation while walking, it wasn’t too bad.
Due to the wound, Xu Yu’s workout was reduced today. He tried to avoid exercises that would strain it. After his workout and shower, Xu Yu came out of the bathroom and saw several missed calls and WeChat messages, all from Su Yuanjiu.
Xu Yu didn’t check the messages but called back first.
Soon, Su Yuanjiu answered.
“What’s up, President Su? I was just working out,” Xu Yu said.
Su Yuanjiu chuckled, “Why do you keep switching between ‘President Su’ and ‘Mr. Su’?”
“Ah,” Xu Yu realized what he had said, “What’s up? Do you need something?”
“Did you buy the medicine?” Su Yuanjiu asked.
“What medicine?” Xu Yu replied.
“Medicine for your wound,” Su Yuanjiu said.
“No, I haven’t,” Xu Yu answered.
“I bought some. Should I bring it up?” Su Yuanjiu offered.
Xu Yu hesitated. “Oh? I… that’s not necessary…”
Su Yuanjiu interrupted, “If it’s inconvenient, I won’t bother. But if you’re just feeling embarrassed, I’m already downstairs.”
Xu Yu pursed his lips and touched his brow. “Come on up.”
Xu Yu didn’t quite believe that Su Yuanjiu was actually downstairs, given that the call was twenty minutes ago. It didn’t seem likely that he’d wait that long.
But within five seconds, Xu Yu’s doorbell rang, leaving him momentarily dazed.
Xu Yu unlocked the downstairs door for Su Yuanjiu, and after a while, Su Yuanjiu appeared at the end of the hallway.
Xu Yu waited for him at the door, smiling as he approached.
“Sorry to trouble you by having you bring this up,” Xu Yu said.
“No need to be so polite,” Su Yuanjiu replied as he reached Xu Yu.
Xu Yu smiled and reached for the medicine, but Su Yuanjiu pulled his hand back.
“What do you call me?” Su Yuanjiu asked.
Xu Yu quickly responded, “Mr. Su.”
“Say it three times,” Su Yuanjiu demanded.
“Mr. Su, Mr. Su, Mr. Su,” Xu Yu repeated.
Su Yuanjiu slightly lowered his head, looking into Xu Yu’s eyes. “Got used to it?”
Xu Yu nodded. “I got used to it.”
“Will there be a next time?” Su Yuanjiu asked.
Xu Yu shook his head, “No more.”
Satisfied, Su Yuanjiu finally handed over the medicine.
