BDAW Chapter 15

Earlier in the morning.
I was sitting next to Corona on a large rock in the stream.

“. . . So you. What is your purpose in taking me out this early in the morning?”

Yesterday, I flew to her immediately after that, but was sent away and told to come back in the morning.
It seems that she was busy with farm work.

So today, I went to pick up Corona right after sunrise.
She seemed a little annoyed, but she followed me without complaining.

When she saw my white dragon form for the first time, she was so surprised that she sat down.

 

“. . . Eh!? Stop the knight!?”

I nod strongly.

“No, it’s impossible! Isn’t that a dragon knight of the kingdom!? I’m afraid to talk to him! Don’t mess with the village girl!”
“Well, that’s right. . . Corona is the only person I can ask for for something like this. . .”

Let’s take her to the hollow house at once.
I jump off the big rock and land on the riverbed.

A wasabi leaf suddenly caught my eye.
Should I pick it up while I’m at it?

When I grabbed the stem and pulled it out, it made a terrible sound.
As usual, wasabi is noisy.

After a while, Corona finally came down from the rock.

“W-What’s that screaming just now!? . . . Or rather, what are you doing, Asahi!?”
“I’m picking wasabi, right? Like this.”

I show her the freshly picked one.
It looks like wasabi and is a little gross.

“Hey, hey!? Ah, you!? What are you going to do with that!?”
“. . . Huh? What’s wrong? The only thing to do, I’ll eat it.”
“A-Are you going to eat it!?”
“Yeah. It’s delicious as a seasoning, isn’t it?”

For some reason, Corona is pulling back.
Did I say something strange?
. . . . . Wasabi is delicious.

“. . . No, after all, the Demon Forest is terrifying. . . That’s a highly poisonous Mandragora, so don’t let other people eat it. . .”

For the first time, I learned the identity of the wasabi.

 

When I got home, he was already awake.

“Nice to meet you, kn-kn-knight-sama!”
“. . . .you are?”
“Oh, ah! My name is Corona! I live in the border village! Also, I’m the landlord here!”

She said it all in one breath.
I, who became a white dragon, looked inside nervously.

He waited until Corona calmed down before bowing firmly.

“I am Shimei Westmar, the eldest son of the Earl of Westmar in the kingdom of Perel. I’m the leader of the Royal Dragon Knights.”
“Hii!? The earl. . . !? That’s right, Commander. . .!?”

She is opening and closing her mouth.

Or rather, is his name ‘Shimei’?
It sounds beautiful.
It suits him very well.

When I noticed, Corona was looking back at me.
She has a pale face.

Corona is already teary-eyed.

“You said Corona. By the way, what is your relationship with the White Dragon?”
“Th, That is, this child wandered into the village. . .”
“Was lost in the village. . .? . . .The White Dragon?”
“That’s . . .!?”

Shimei frowned.
Are you wondering?

(Do your best, Corona! You’ll push through somehow!)

I’m sure this cheering will push her.

“Corona. . . You look like just a village girl, but how did you get a house in a place like this. . .”

Corona’s face is already bright red.
Her eyes are spinning, and steam is rising from her head.

“Anyway! It’s okay for you to stay in this house until your body heals properly! Well then, excuse me!”

After saying that, she ran away.

“Oh, hey. . .!? Wait. . .!”

Shimei stretched out his hand and watched her back.

 

After joining her, we discuss the exchange from earlier at the stream.

“It was perfect, Corona!”
“I, I knew it? . . . . Hmm. If you cling to me, it’s roughly like this!”

I am a woman who can read the atmosphere.
To tell the truth, I won’t say that it was no good.

Nonetheless, I think I was able to stop Shimei with this, and it was enough as a result.

“By the way, Asahi. . .”
“What is it?”
“You remember the promise of thanks, don’t you? . . . . Make a meal next time! I’ll eat it with you!”

What’s that?
It doesn’t have to be a thanks to have a meal with friends.

“Yeah! Then let’s have a delicious meal!”

In response, Corona smiled broadly.
